Super beautifully restored building with a very inviting atmosphere. Very attentive and nice waitresses. In addition, a very motivated chef who absolutely knows how to delight with his exquisite dishes. Plus delicious wines. 10 out of 10 points

We were in the Schäfer Stuben on our last evening. Even though we didn't have a reservation, we were warmly welcomed. You immediately felt at home after the welcome. The food and drink (Schäferschole) was very tasty 😋. The liverwurst schnapps was also a highlight. Greetings to the host. 😉 We will be happy to come back there next year.

Der Besuch war ein Weihnachtsgeschenk an die Eltern und was soll ich sagen? Es war einfach ein toller Abend. Das Essen, die Weinbegleitung, der Service: Es war einfach Perfekt. Und das wir vom Chef noch persönlich zum Hotel gefahren wurden, war einfach das i-Tüpfelchen. Ein großes Lob an den Gang Brotzeit. Sowas hatten wir in einem Sterne-Restaurant bisher noch nicht gehabt und ist eine super Idee. Bitte weiterhin in die Menüs einbauen. Wir werden auf jeden Fall wiederkommen und freuen uns schon darauf.

Delicious menu, perfect service.

A la carte food was disappointing, wild hare ragout only tasted of spices, not of the meat, dessert was simple nougat ice cream, only the filled dumplings with cambert and wild garlic mayonnaise were tasty. No greeting from the kitchen and no schnapps or praline on the bill, carelessly routine, in contrast to the experience 2 years ago. Our friends had the small menu. It looked good and tasted good, but no additional gesture from the kitchen either. You would expect a little more warmth given the price level.

Super nice staff and extremely delicious cakes. The Schocko cheesecake is awesome.

The perfect place to celebrate a wedding. We were treated to delicious food. A great experience.

The concept is not often found, the range (also in terms of price) is unusually wide, as if they wanted to reach everyone: from basics of the best quality to impeccable veggie dishes and impeccable meat dishes. In a positive way, the menu is not extensive but focuses on freshness and the seasons. For travelers and the curious, there are occasional themed evenings with wine and food from European regions. Decent wine list. The service is friendly and attentive and fulfills all small extra requests. Price level very reasonable. The location, hidden in the culinary diaspora of the north of Essen, enriches it (5* for that) but makes you shy away from the spontaneous journey from the southern districts.
