Restaurant Philippous in Warendorf

We were there last night with the company for our Christmas dinner with 21 people. We chose a wide variety of dishes from the menu, and what can I say? It was simply fantastic! Even though the place was packed, we always had attentive service and drinks. The food was superb, everyone was extremely satisfied, and we even had some picky eaters from the countryside. They were also very happy with the quality of the food and the portion sizes, which isn't always a given with our local meat producers 🤣. So, a huge thank you for letting us join you on such short notice.

The meat was a bit too dry for my taste. The flavor was good. The side salad was uninspired. There were only three forkfuls of cabbage. The service was sometimes slow; it took a while for someone to come to the table. However, the staff were very friendly.

We shared a platter for two. The food arrived piping hot and was really tasty. Unfortunately, the meat was only served on a wooden tray and consequently cooled down quickly; it wasn't palatable when cold. There was no response to our request for a tip after the meal; instead, the waiter gave us a demanding look when we paid.

A truly beautifully decorated restaurant. The staff is very friendly and attentive, always making an effort to anticipate guests' requests. Both the appetizers and main courses are delicious and plentiful, and the yogurt with honey for dessert is also a real treat. There were eight of us there, five of whom were first-time visitors, and everyone was thrilled. We will definitely be back.

It was our first time there, and there were three of us. The food was really good; I especially enjoyed the moussaka. The country-house atmosphere is cozy. The service was good and very friendly, but they were a little inexperienced at times. However, that wasn't a big deal.

I celebrated my 50th birthday there with 13 people in a private room. Everything was arranged in detail four weeks in advance, including the appetizers and the buffet. I called again the day before to confirm that everything was okay, and was assured that it was. When the event took place yesterday, nothing was prepared except that the room had been reserved for us. Then the owner asked me what we wanted to eat… apparently, what we had discussed four weeks prior had been forgotten, and the notes were nowhere to be found. No server came to take our drink orders… plates and glasses weren't cleared away… and so on. In short: the food was good, but the service was very poor for larger groups. Unfortunately, the owners were also unable to accept criticism.

We walked in without a reservation and were very warmly welcomed and served. The food was delicious, and the price was reasonable. We'll definitely be back.

The food was served hot, almost too much for one person. The meat was seasoned appropriately, and the sauce went well with it. Topped with cheese, it was a delicious meal. The service was good, but the constant questions about whether there was anything else I wanted was a bit annoying.

Unfortunately, the gyros was cold and rather dry, and the fried liver was sliced ​​very thinly and quite dry. The prices are decent, but reasonable for the portion size.

The food was delicious, but not suitable for large groups. Service was overwhelmed, some orders didn't arrive or were incorrect, and finally, the bills were incorrect (to the detriment of the customers). To top it all off, we had to pay extra for drinks we didn't even have.

For several years now, my family and friends have been friends with this wonderful Greek restaurant. It's always like eating with friends, with a fantastic selection of food and drinks. Excellent, friendly service, including from the owner and his wife. All in all, highly recommended!

My husband and I went out to eat yesterday, and we were served very friendly by a young, southern-style lady with a genuine smile—something you don't experience very often these days. The food was also very tasty, well-seasoned, and we both enjoyed it wonderfully. A visit we would definitely be happy to repeat.

Very tasty, beautifully presented, and a very nice outdoor area. I had beef liver, which was 3-4 times the normal portion. Apparently, hardly any guests leave without having a portion packed up. Reservations are probably advisable.

Visited for the first time today. Unfortunately, I returned home disappointed. The food was far too greasy, the service was poor, inattentive, and forgetful. Guests receive too little attention and appreciation. Card payments are not accepted. The garden is beautiful, cozy, and offers natural shade. We won't be back.

Delicious Greek food, great service

So, Philippous – a Greek restaurant, but really more of a state of mind. The waiters, as friendly as a cheerful song on the radio shortly after midnight, know how to treat people. The food? It came so quickly, as if the kitchen had clairvoyant abilities – and so much of it, too, that even the hunger had to bow down. Everything tasted of sunshine, of vacation, of "please never eat gyros anywhere else again." Five stars, of course – because six, unfortunately, isn't possible.

The many good reviews must be coming from nowhere! My visit to Philippous was first-class! I received a very warm welcome and was allowed to choose a seat outside. The servers were all super friendly and always up for a quick chat. Before the meal, I was offered a small schnapps to energize me, which I enjoyed! The gyro was super delicious, and the entire meal was perfect. I couldn't even finish it all. A clear recommendation for delicious food in a relaxed atmosphere!

We were there twice with our group from the Westerwald and on the last evening we were even spontaneously invited to the boss's birthday party. I must say that here the customer is treated as if he were part of the family.

We were in Warendorf over Father's Day and visited Philippous twice during our stay. It was so welcoming, the staff very friendly, the food plentiful and very good, and the owner, Annas, always took time for a chat. Friendly and attentive staff. Delicious and plentiful food. A country-style ambiance. What more could you want? Plenty of parking, and the beer garden can even accommodate parties of over 200 people. This definitely won't be the last time we stay here. We rarely feel this comfortable. 5*👍 deserves it.

Our absolute recommendation for anyone who lives in the area or is passing through. We received a very friendly welcome in the Greek restaurant and the service was present throughout the evening without being intrusive. The price/performance ratio is great and we all enjoyed it very much. The atmosphere is very cozy and everything is very clean. Luckily there are enough free parking spaces available and a thank you for that too, because Philippous is a bit remote and we drove to you by car. But... anyone who has found you and stopped by will definitely come back again. This warmth of being welcomed with open arms is great. In a beautiful half-timbered house, you as the owners and team have created something very special - a feel-good atmosphere with delicious food. We took a short vacation at a campsite nearby and came across this restaurant thanks to Google. The ambience is really nice. The entire staff was super friendly and accommodating. The food was super tasty and the portions were very good. If we're ever in the area again, we'll come back. Reservations are an advantage.

Great restaurant! The food was delicious and the atmosphere was really nice. We shared the starter. There were various dips/spreads with coleslaw and grilled peppers with bread. Then grilled garlic bread with tzatziki. I found the tzatziki really tasty with the grilled or ungrilled bread. The main course was also very tasty. The souvlaki were very tasty, and I really enjoyed the fries thanks to their special cut shape. There were also fresh onions and tzatziki. The rice was a bit disappointing because it mainly tasted like butter and when it comes to Greek I have to say I'm actually really looking forward to the tomato/Djuvec rice. Everyone else at the table was also very happy with the food. The service was very nice and the atmosphere invites you to linger, it is really very cozy there. We will definitely come back.

We had dinner at Philippous again. Once the pork gyros and once the chicken gyros. First you get an ouzo and the salad is a poem. The portions are very generous, we often can't manage them. The plates are beautifully prepared, the quality and taste is great👍 The staff was relaxed and the boss is very personable. We would love to come back 😊😊

The Greek restaurant was recommended to us and we were looking forward to it. Unfortunately we were very disappointed. The starter was OK. My husband had a gyro pizza (chicken gyros, because not as fatty as pork). To really describe it credibly, you would have had to show a photo. But it is far from our intention to present a restaurant like that and actually write a review like that. But that chicken meat was actually just thick lumps of fat. There wasn't a shred of tender chicken on the pizza. Even on my mixed meat plate, apart from the souflaki and the tzatziki, there was nothing that could be described as good food. Then came to pay (apparently the boss) and asked if everything was okay. My husband and I politely explained that the pizza wasn't that great and we didn't even mention the meat on my plate. Unfortunately, she reacted very briefly and inappropriately. We still tipped, but for us it was the first and last visit, especially because of this reaction. Therefore only 2 stars for service, the staff was otherwise friendly.

I had the pleasure of visiting the Greek restaurant “Philippous” and all I can say is that it was a wonderful experience! From the moment we entered the restaurant, we were warmly welcomed by the friendly staff. The atmosphere was welcoming and authentic, with Greek music in the background and lovely decorations (it was still Christmas days). The menu offered a large selection of classic Greek dishes. I had classic gyros with tzatziki, rice and potato wedges. The potato wedges are the fries here, which I think is really good because fries are available everywhere. They are also prepared very well! Everything was freshly made and full of flavor – especially the tzatziki, which was seasoned to perfection! The fresh onions were also a treat!! As a starter there was a salad with each of our menus. Also super tasty! What I also really want to mention is the speed of preparing our order. There were 11 of us and we all received our food within 20 minutes. And the plates were beautifully prepared! The service was attentive but not intrusive, and the prices were reasonable for the quality of the food and the service. Particularly noteworthy is the amount of food you get here for the price, which is extremely good. What you can't manage will be kindly packed up! I can recommend this restaurant to anyone who loves Greek cuisine or just wants to try something new. I'm already looking forward to my next visit!

Because of the very good reviews, we just drove past here and stopped in. We were warmly welcomed and shown to a nice table. Everything is very comfortably furnished here. The service always worked smoothly, so everything was ok from this side too. Especially since there was a delicious ouzo beforehand. Now about the gyros- it was a good, big portion. The taste was actually good, but unfortunately very little of the meat was even remotely cross. This really gets better! This meat lives from the hearty crust!? I would like to try it again - perhaps with a note in advance. And- Oh yes, dirty tablecloths should be replaced, not rubbed clean!

Essen geht so, das Fleisch wer trocken, 2 Stck haben wir davon für unseren Hund mitgenommen. 1, 5 Stunden hat es gedauert bis wir die Vorspeise bekommen haben. Nochmal ne halbe Stunde für den Hauptgang. Der Tisch neben uns mit 8 Personen kam später, hatten aber schon den Hauptgang auf dem Tisch bevor wir bestellen konnten. Ein nogo. DAS Personal unfähig und irrte sinnlos durch die Gegend. Das erste Getränk war alle und keinen hat es interessiert. Auf das Dilemma angesprochen hieß es - wir haben 300 Gäste (zuvor waren es noch 250) Preis Leistung - schlecht, noch nett ausgedrückt. Kurz gesagt Atmosphäre laut, Bedienung unfähig und inkompetent, Essen max 2 Sterne. Würde ich niemals empfehlen, geschweige denn nochmal besuchen.

It can always be better, the food came quickly, unfortunately my food was relatively cool which wasn't so nice. The mixed plate was okay, which isn't that nice - you can't tell that there's a side salad, we ordered one that didn't come and there was a small coleslaw. You could really change that so that it is clear what is included. The price-performance ratio is relatively high, which was a disappointment for me. But everyone sees it differently and it's my opinion. I didn't take any pictures otherwise my food would have been even colder.

The staff was incredibly friendly, attentive and authentic. You can tell that people put their heart and soul into the work here. Our wishes were quickly fulfilled and we felt welcome from the start. The portions are generous and the prices are absolutely fair, especially for the high quality of the food. It's worth every penny! This Greek restaurant is a real gem. The food is good, but if you pick it up, half of it might be missing. What's most annoying is the lack of tzatziki in the dishes, especially when it's picked up. An up-to-date menu available online would be great. And the menu at the entrance is outdated and should be replaced.
