We've been wanting to try Essenz for a long time.
The restaurant itself is very nice, but we found it a bit too "clean." The service was very attentive and friendly, but a bit too distant for our taste for an Alpine restaurant (even with three stars, you can expect something to thaw out after several hours).
Personally, the food came much too quickly for us. Both times I wanted to sneak around the corner, I was asked to hurry up – I understand that the food is ready when it's ready, but then you just have to slow down.
The food was very good, although a bit defensive in flavor (compared to other international three-star restaurants). Definitely something everyone will enjoy; we just would have liked a bit more punch on some of the plates.
All in all, a great restaurant, but for the price, we wouldn't go back.
"Hesse's Best Italian Restaurant 2025" sums it up perfectly.
A very welcoming owner, incredibly delicious food, and very fair drink prices.
Anyone who's been here once will never settle for another pizzeria. Guaranteed.
Unfortunately, we weren't very impressed on our second visit either. The food was lukewarm, the portions were small, and the taste left something to be desired.
The service could also be better...it's a shame, but there won't be a third chance.
Delicious food. The gyros are especially recommended. The appetizer platter is also excellent. Very friendly staff who even cracked a joke now and then, and the food arrived very quickly. Perfect. Reservations recommended.
