On a very rainy summer evening, we enjoyed an incredible culinary experience. Everything was just right: the wonderful ambiance, the warm and friendly service, the beautifully presented dishes. Many thanks to Jan Fribus and his team (also for a small round of chefs). We would love to come back.

This was a totally unexpected experience. Amazing food fusion made it difficult to say which dish was the best. Actually , they were all the best. I'd come back to Germany just for this.

I wanted to spontaneously reserve a table at Kiku, but the place was full. A short while later, I received a kind call back. They offered me a seat at the bar, which I gladly accepted. Sitting there wasn't intrusive at all – the servers were super attentive, and I felt completely at home. The food was fantastic, all made with local ingredients and lots of love. The homemade mochi is a dream! What was especially cool was that the chefs brought out the dishes themselves, even though there were only two of them in the kitchen. Authentic, warm, and not at all pretentious – simply a truly lovely evening! 😊

We spent two wonderful evenings at Jan Fribus's restaurant KIKU in Quedlinburg. The menu and wine pairing were excellent. The 10 courses with Asian influences were easy to manage without being overwhelming. The wine pairing was very well matched to each dish. On the second evening, the menu and wines were changed so it didn't get boring. We will definitely visit the restaurant again. The service couldn't be friendlier. We wish the team and the restaurant continued success. P.S. Staying in the Ano1650 apartment was very convenient; there was only one flight of stairs to the KIKU. Some photos from the evening:

A gem in Quedlinburg – a journey through Asian cuisine with perfect craftsmanship and loving presentation. We had a harmonious menu in this wonderful setting in the old town. And what really impressed us was the elaborate and absolutely fantastic non-alcoholic accompaniment: various juices from local fruits and vegetables, fermented to unimaginable heights. A wonderful evening with the help of friendly and competent service. Nothing against schnitzel and the like, but KIKU is truly a revelation that no one should miss. It was the most wonderful and delicious restaurant experience in a long time. We had the restaurant (unfortunately for KIKU) exclusively for the four of us. We were able to enjoy the culinary highlights from the kitchen directly with the chef while discussing the food. This was followed by nine phenomenal, Asian-influenced courses of the highest quality, the likes of which we hadn't even recently enjoyed at Tim Raue's. We were there on Sunday from 6 p.m. – my husband had made a special reservation on our trip to Wismar and back, having discovered the restaurant in Quedlinburg online. – we often visit Michelin-starred and fine-dining restaurants, so with this in mind, we were treated to an absolutely outstanding, unsurpassably wonderful evening with Jan Fribus and his wonderful team! From the personalized greeting on the menu, the natural, charming, and attentive service to the presentation (which couldn't be more beautiful than Lana's flowers in Japan) and the taste of the dishes – I almost lack the words to express our joy that we were able to experience all of this while Jan Fribus (inexplicably) hasn't yet earned his first Michelin star – we've often had worse meals in Michelin-starred restaurants! The explanations and presentations by the young, competent team members were also outstanding, for example, on the fermentation of kimchi and the experimentation in the kitchen until the creations meet the chef's standards. We've never been able to gain such close, informative, and inspiring insights anywhere else. It was tremendous fun because at Kiku you can feel that everyone is putting their heart and soul into it. The crowning finale was the sake tasting and the background of sake production that Eric gave us – not even a very good Japanese restaurant in Frankfurt was able to do that: now we know how the different quality characteristics are created. Quedlinburg has an absolute gem here, renowned far beyond the region. Thank you so much for letting us meet Jan in person – we hope to see him and all of you again soon – the flavor fusion of regional products and Asian delicacies is brilliantly realized here.

The Michelin star would have been well-deserved in March. The cuisine is exceptional, the service is exceptionally friendly and professional, and the ambiance is lovely. Get there quickly. KIKU is still a culinary bargain. When the star arrives in 2026, it will certainly be more expensive. But even then, a visit will certainly be worthwhile.

Everything was perfect from start to finish. The service was very attentive, and each course, including the matching wines, was explained in detail. Every member of staff, including Jan Fribus, served us at least twice. The regionality, quality, and appearance of the dishes overwhelmed us. It was, without exaggeration, one of the best dining experiences we've ever had. At the end of the meal, we were even invited into the kitchen and had the opportunity to chat with Jan Fribus and his kitchen colleague. As we already mentioned, Jan Fribus and his Kiku more than deserve our first Michelin star.

Magnificent, yet difficult to describe: this unforgettable evening begins with an inviting ambiance and a warm welcome that makes us feel at home from the very first seconds. The hosts share their concept and ideas with us in a most pleasant way. Each course, including the thoughtful wine pairing, is explained to us in a lively manner – without the usual finger-pointing, but rather authentic and understandable. The dishes are sensational, and the feeling of being cared for by a team that 'puts the essence of their passion on the table' and not just 'just' very, very good food, makes our visit a wonderful evening. Back to the beginning: it's truly difficult to describe: the sum of so many details at first and second glance – and much more than just the 'ingredients' needed for a great evening. Book early and take your time – you're in the best hands!

A sensational stay. I don't even know where to begin or end. The food is truly delicious, but the service and warmth top it all (which isn't easy with such good food). A handwritten menu was placed at our table, something I've never experienced before. The sommelier was incredibly welcoming (just like the chefs), and we never felt he was stressed. He took the time to chat about the wines, and we felt completely well looked after. The restaurant somehow doesn't fit in with the city, yet at the same time, it's an absolute win. Anyone who really wants to eat well (and can appreciate it) should definitely plan an evening here. For me, it would even be worth traveling from Berlin to eat here. There's no official star yet, but in my opinion, that's only a matter of time. Anything else would surprise me. The price and performance are more than justified—I've eaten much worse in Michelin-starred restaurants for more money. But once again: the warm advice on the wines and the chefs were truly fantastic, without exception. Thank you for a truly wonderful evening!

Sensational food. One explosion of flavor follows the next, always balanced and perfectly seasoned. We had the full menu and couldn't find any weaknesses across all the courses and their numerous components. Very personal service, including the after-dinner chat with the chefs. We often go out for high-quality meals. Such quality is truly rare. A year ago, we had a Michelin-star meal in this region in Wernigerode, but Kiku was clearly superior, especially in terms of consistent quality throughout the entire menu and the attentive service. You feel well looked after and have a very harmonious overall experience. The star will come if things are fair, we're sure of that. Good luck and success to this friendly and young team. We had actually wanted to come twice in two weeks, but with a heavy heart, had to cancel due to other commitments. We'll be back!

The time between courses flew by. Even though it's quite expensive, it's a must-try experience at least once. There were four of us, and everyone was completely satisfied. Since discovering Kiku, I've always loved stopping by whenever I'm near Quedlinburg. Jan Fribus is a master; every one of his menus has impressed me so far. And together with his team, he creates a pleasant and relaxed atmosphere in this beautiful restaurant in the old town. Asian influences run like a common thread through the dishes. Sometimes they're very creative, such as Korean kimchi with white chocolate, cedar cone ice cream, or grilled pineapple. Others are perfectly crafted, such as the "very simple things," such as Japanese egg custard (chawanmushi), shrimp dim sum, or a delicious Chinese baozi. A classic fish and/or meat course rounds out the experience wonderfully. I can wholeheartedly recommend a visit if you're in the mood for a taste journey!

Das Ambiente ist wunderschön: ein altes, verfallenes Fachwerkhaus wurde super saniert und durch Glasfronten zur Gasse und zum Hof mit einem lichtdurchfluteten Innenbereich versehen. Das Essen ist ein kulinarisches Erlebnis, ein wirklich hoher Genuss. Die Wein- bzw. Saftbegleitung ist perfekt auf den jeweiligen Gang abgestimmt. Der Service ist wunderbar erfrischend und gleichzeitig wertschätzend. Wir kommen auf jeden Fall wieder.

KIKU menu, an experience that will stay in your memory for a long time. Every single course offers a wealth of taste and aroma impressions, some of them surprising. My favorites were an intermediate course (plum sorbet with roasted pineapple = dreamy!) and a dessert (millefeuille with Meyer lemon). The mix of Asian and local fits perfectly. Plus a good conversation with Eric and Jan. Great!

We had a wonderful evening. The food was perfect and the service was very attentive and courteous. The only thing where, in my opinion, there is some room for improvement would be the wine accompaniment - here I would like to have more courage to try something unusual. In my opinion, the desired star is not yet in sight; With a lot of goodwill I give four stars: The menu and wine accompaniment were not timed; the first wine came a course late and the service was unable to rectify this. Partly because of a sourdough bread that hadn't been baked yet, it took us almost three and a half hours for the menu - clearly too long. The selection of wines was not convincing; I found these almost almost inappropriate at times; there was no surprise to the palate. The service staff were friendly and tried hard, but there was a lack of professionalism. So finger lemons were handed to the wrong aisle and there was still no way to read the guests a bit. The coordination of the gears didn't convince me; they sometimes seem more randomly chosen than really coordinated. The three sweet courses at the end were each good in their own right, the mochi was really sensationally good. But the combination is too heavy. They were far too heavy on the previous aisles and prevented what you wanted: a good building feeling at the end. Over €200 per person is simply too much money for this offer. There is still some room for improvement.

Edit: After a few months I made it back to KIKU and I was very surprised. Positive! The development the kitchen has made since my last visit is fascinating. The dishes were delicious last time, but this time they were even more balanced, more beautifully presented and tastier! The new service person also brings a lot to the restaurant, a young, committed man who is already at a high level. I've been to a few star-rated restaurants since my last visit and I have to say that with one exception, I would prefer KIKU every time. Keep it up and see you next visit! An absolutely harmonious restaurant, everything from the visuals to the music in the background to the food was coordinated. What was really worth mentioning was the quality of the tuna, this quality with the flavors from the Japanese grill were incredible. The processing of the products and the development of the flavors in the individual dishes are really great. It's a great little team, when you consider all the work they do, it's unbelievable! We had a wonderful evening. The service is very friendly and attentive. Excellent selection, especially of wines that can also be ordered by the glass. Very harmonious menu cooked with passion. Very pleasant atmosphere. A must on the next visit to Quedlinburg, or if we are nearby.

There is no other way to say it, a fantastic evening. The atmosphere is cozy, the service is first class. We chose the menu with wine accompaniment, an incredible taste experience with unusual ingredients.

An absolutely perfect evening with wonderful food, great service and ideal wine accompaniment. We will definitely come back. A real highlight in Quedlinburg!

Wir hatten leider keine Reservierung, jedoch das Glück ein kleines Menü zu ergattern, da die folgenden Tische erst später reserviert waren! Dieser kleine Einblick in die Künste der Küche war grandios! Wir werden auf der nächsten Reise auf jeden Fall wieder kommen und vorher reservieren!

Wir waren gestern Abend zu Gast im KiKu. Von Anfang bis zum Ende ein Erlebnis sowohl im Service als auch aus der Küche. Der Service glänzte mit Wein - und Gängekenntnissen und brachte alles gekonnt und locker an den Tisch. Jan kam zwei mal an den Tisch und erklärte die gebrachten Gänge. Wie immer ein absoluter Genuss. Das Menü eine Offenbarung in Vielfalt, Optik und Geschmack. Die Weine passend und interessant gewählt. Der Service freundlich und kompetent. Das Preisniveau absolut angemessen. Herr Fribus, der es sich nicht nehmen lies drei Mal an meinen Tisch zu kommen, und sein Team definieren die Standards für den Nordharz neu. Und nicht nur für den Nordharz. Gerne werde ich auch zukünftig den Weg von Leipzig aus nach Quedlinburg machen. Er ist mehr als lohnenswert. Er ist lebenswert.

Conclusion: - The menu was a flavor festival. - The staff were very friendly and attentive. - The chairs were comfortable - sitting for 3 hours wasn't a problem. - Nice atmosphere. - Good music at a reasonable volume. - We'll see each other again in 3 months at the latest. I would give 6 stars if I could! As soon as you enter KIKU you feel that the guest is in the foreground. The head waiter is polite, attentive and courteous. You notice this from the moment your coat is taken away and you are shown to your table. The tables are set clean and minimalist. We were very kindly informed that even if some components seemed unusual or flavor combinations seemed unusual, we should put ourselves in the hands of the chef and that was absolutely the right decision!!! The menu is written in such a way that everything is understandable for the guest, but behind every dish described in 2 or 3 words there is a whole arsenal of fabulously harmonizing components. At our request, one of our two menus was prepared vegetarian, but it was in no way lacking in sophistication. You can taste that the kitchen is confident in every course and prepares every dish with heart. I would particularly like to emphasize that, in addition to a fantastically corresponding wine tour, a juice accompaniment is also offered, made from homemade, partly fermented juices, which accompanied the courses in a tasty and harmonious manner. Water is always refilled between courses and empty glasses, plates and cups are immediately cleared away and cutlery is always set to match the course. Here again special praise for the service. The price of €135 for the 8-course menu preceded by an amuse bouche and €55 for the wine tour is ABSOLUTELY justified and you leave the restaurant feeling full. The KIKU is worth a trip to Quedlinburg We'd love to come back.

Unser Besuch "zwischen den Jahren" im KIKU bescherte uns ein Menu, das zum besten gehört, was wir in letzter Zeit gegessen haben. Es war unser zweiter Besuch in diesem Restaurant. Diesmal war nicht nur das Essen wieder ausgezeichnet, sondern auch der Service kompetent, flink und sehr freundlich. Das einzige, was man vielleicht bemängeln könnte, war die etwas zu niedrige Temperatur im Restaurant. Die einzelnen Gänge waren sehr vielfältig, eine Inspiration aus asiatischer und französischer Küche. Die Fisch- und Fleischgänge nicht zu trocken, sondern genau auf den Punkt gegart. Zum Glück gab es kein Brot, so dass wir bis zum Dessert alles mit gutem Appetit essen konnten. Die Wein- und die Saftbegleitung war auch ausgezeichnet. Wir kommen auf jeden Fall wieder!

If you want to experience something nice, you have to plan a menu evening at KIKU. Delicious food with explanations, friendly service and the right atmosphere, it was a dream!!! Thank you

Unfortunately, our waitress was very stressed and didn't say anything more about the food than what was on the menu. The next drinks to accompany the drinks were brought without asking whether we should continue. In some cases we hadn't even finished the previous ones. In addition, the waitress wanted to clear away several times, even though only one of us had finished eating.

It was a very nice, unobtrusive evening. Very fine food and great wines. Gladly again.
