A lovely restaurant near the wildlife park, it's worth stopping by after a stroll. Plenty of pleasant outdoor seating, fast service, and delicious cakes. Card payments are accepted, but only at the cash register inside.
Not an extensive menu but seasonal and fresh products are served here. Overall, the food was good and plentiful. Ambiance with a view of the Rhine is worth it. Service attentive, quick and polite. I felt comfortable as a guest and recommend a visit.
We ate there today for the first time since it reopened. The staff was very friendly, we also liked the atmosphere and the food was very tasty.
I'll definitely stop by there with my regulars one or two times.
Great, despite the store being completely full, the service was quick and it tasted great. The chocolate gyzos were really delicious!
I'd love to come back
Reading the other reviews, I can only confirm the landlady's unfriendliness! I've never been told what to eat in a restaurant before.
We wanted to eat and drink two cheese platters, two pancakes, four apple spritzers, and two wines. However, the owner pressured us to either order a main course from the menu or leave, otherwise we would be inconveniencing the kitchen and taking tables from other guests, even though several tables were empty. While we were finishing our drinks, the cutlery was provocatively cleared away from our table. In summary, this restaurant cannot be recommended, as the owner's manner was disrespectful, abrupt, and rude. One could also interpret this action as a possible racist attack. Such arrogance and disrespectful behavior is uncalled for in this Cologne neighborhood. This restaurant and this landlady are absolutely disastrous and not recommended. Horrible!!!
The Sushi here was a bit dissapointing. Also we had to ask for chopsticks and soy sauce etc, cause they didn’t bring it. They leave all unnecessary items and glasses on the table even tho we only ordered sushi. Also empty bottles of drinks didn’t get taken out, overall the table was very messy and doesn’t have much to do with authentic Japanese food/service. Staff was friendly, but didn’t ask us for a second drink or anything, needed to be called by us. The view over the river was nice tho.
Addendum December 2024: Unfortunately, the pub is history again. Too bad and strange. Now try an Irish pub.
Schmitze Lang in the Vringsveedel in the southern old town of Cologne is very well positioned under new management. Food, Halver Hahn had to suffice this time, and drinks, of course Kölsch, were served quickly by courteous and affable staff, which is typical of such establishments. Likeable. Other guests' (drinking) behavior was very pleasant. Even real Cologne residents were among them. Very good ventilation system in an attractive interior design. Criticism: The incredibly ugly facade design unfortunately doesn't flatter the very nice pub lettering at all. This is where taste-safe experts should lend a hand again. But definitely stop by if you're nearby.
