Unfortunately, my stay at this hotel was a huge disappointment. The room was not clean upon arrival – the shower in particular was unhygienic and had hair from previous guests. The furnishings are very dated and overall appear very worn and unkempt. The rooms are extremely noisy, so you can hear every movement in the hallway or in neighboring rooms. A restful sleep was out of the question. The reception also did not give a professional impression – the staff seemed inexperienced and poorly trained. Absolutely unsuitable for business trips. I will not book this hotel again and also recommend that my colleagues at the company avoid this hotel.

Great location, clean rooms, and a special atmosphere thanks to the painted pictures in the shower. Incredibly great amenities like a refrigerator, kettle, and coffee maker make your stay perfect. The hotel room could be cleaner. The reception staff was okay. At €320 for one night, it's way too expensive. The price-performance ratio isn't right here. One employee was very good at conflict management, but she was insulted by a customer, for reasons beyond her control. 👍 Hats off to this employee. A very nice view from the roof terrace, which is only accessible to hotel guests.

Very nice hotel with clean rooms, a lovely roof terrace, a prime location, easy to walk to the city center, an Uber costs six euros from here to the cathedral, parking is available directly in the underground garage for €25 per day, and the two elevators are sometimes a bit busy.

Great location right on the Rhine and the promenade. Very comfortable rooms, clean, and well-equipped. The only issue was the sink in the room, which didn't fit in the bathroom due to space constraints. But that wasn't a problem. My room faced the Rhine and was incredibly quiet. I'd go back anytime.

Excellent stay for 2 nights. Large rooms and good breakfast

I have experienced hotels all over the world and that has taught me to not trust written text or pictures until I've seen it myself. But I knew already when I saw the hotel from the taxi that it would be at least a good stay, or even better. This is a beautiful hotel with a great atmosphere. The staff are really polite and nice. I got my key card and went up, opened the door and I found a fantastic room. It's very spacious, especially when you travel alone. I love the floor to ceiling window, but what caught my interest first was the painted glass wall between the shower and the rest of the room. The bed was good, at least for me, since it's a bit on the harder side and I have a lot of back pain. The proof is that I slept over 9 hours the second night and thats unusual for me. The only sad thing, if I shall say something negative, is the TV. As a none german speaking person there wasn't a lot to watch in the evenings and with an open Wi-Fi I don't lower my vpn to do screen mirroring. To conclude this I will say that this hotel is among my favorite hotels and if I visit Köln again I will return.

We stayed at this hotel for three nights. I liked the location because, despite not being in the city center, it's not far away and is right next to the Chocolate Museum, with a Ferris wheel and the river, so it was great. The rooms were very large, but the beds were small and the mattresses weren't very comfortable. The reception staff was very friendly, but the cleaning staff opened the door to our room to clean at 7:30 a.m. and 8:00 a.m., which I thought was awful because those weren't the hours. I liked my stay and overall it was fine, although I think they could improve those aspects.

The hotel is located on the edge of the old town, directly on the Rhine. The city, the cathedral, and the Musical Dome, as well as the Landungsbrücken (landing bridges), are all within easy walking distance. The hotel is modern, fresh, and dynamically managed. The rooms are well-sized, clean, and, thanks to the air conditioning, very cool even in the hot summer days. The breakfast is plentiful and delicious. If you don't book it at the time of booking, you can always have it made up on-site. The staff is friendly and accommodating. The value for money is excellent. Very suitable for people with limited mobility.

Very nice rooms! However, quite a lot of noise from the traffic, and the view from the room was mostly towards a busy traffic route. But if you are lucky, you can get a view in the other direction where it is nicer. The breakfast is quite okay, nothing more, but nice premises and nice staff! A small minus is that the sauna must be booked in advance, it is not stated on the website. Also, if you want to use the sauna in the morning, you cannot book it the day before, you have to go down to the reception and book it an hour before so that it has time to heat up (unclear why it is not possible to book already the night before, but that was the message I received from the reception).

My stay at the hotel was very positive. I was able to park my van next to the hotel and didn't have to use the parking garage. Everything else was great! The only thing was that room service wasn't available. I was very satisfied.

Very friendly staff, nice views, wonderful breakfast

They have a problem with the cleaning of the carpets in the rooms. Carpets are quite dusty. If you wear black socks, they will turn completely white after a few steps. Apart from that, although the location seems central, you have to walk 20 minutes to the center and 15 minutes to the nearest rail system. Not every room sees the river, but it doesn't really matter because you don't have the chance to see the river through the ridiculously colored windows they put in the room. It is very good that there is a gas station open 24/7 opposite, and the market is directly at your fingertips.

Great hotel in a perfect location. Clean and well maintained. Our room facing the Rhine had a beautiful view. Some guests will be bothered by the volume of traffic around the hotel, but you're right in the middle of it all. The staff was very friendly and competent. We felt very comfortable.

Great hotel in a central location

Great hotel, close to the centre but far enough away from all the noise. The rhine views are great, looks more onto the island, but the balcony doors fully open, which is very nice. The rooms are clean, large and very quiet at night. The staff were very nice and the restaurant looked good. but we didn't eat here. The roof top terrace has some good views, but there is no bar up there, probably because it was too early in the session.

A few minutes from the center and on the banks of the river. It is a minimalist hotel in decoration but perfect for quick visits. The rooms are very spacious, but for long stays there is little space to store clothes. Edit 2025: I return to this hotel and I have found a detriment in the personal treatment, restaurant closed and without the possibility of eating any dinner (they only offered me pasta with tomato) and to make matters worse the shower did not drain the water well and the bathroom was filled with water and soap.

Great location, clean rooms and a special atmosphere thanks to artistically painted paintings. Particularly impressive was the painted wall in the shower, which was illuminated by sunlight - an incredibly beautiful sight! 🤩 The only downside were errors when booking online and the reception staff's lack of knowledge about ongoing promotions. What is positive, however, is the quick problem solving through new information. A slight, disturbing smell in the hallway was also noticeable. Unfortunately the saunas were not available without prior notification from reception. Apart from that, everything else was great!

We stayed here for two nights and, after reading the negative reviews, were really pleasantly surprised. The staff was always friendly and accommodating. Special thanks to Alessandro. :) The rooms were very clean; there's nothing to complain about. Yes, the carpets have stains and certainly could use some attention, but there are slippers in every room that you can wear. You can't hear any noise from the hallway or other rooms. If you sleep facing the street, it's louder, but with the window closed, it's manageable. The breakfast, in our opinion, leaves nothing to be desired, and here, too, the staff is friendly and always careful to ensure that everything is replenished quickly. The hotel's location is very good; you can walk to the city center and the Lanxess Arena, but we ordered an Uber. ;) Since we arrived by train, we can't comment on the parking situation.

The hotel is generally recommended. Particularly noteworthy is the delicious breakfast buffet with a good selection as well as the generously sized and spacious rooms. A small negative point is that the refrigerator in the room was unfortunately not filled. There are some signs of wear and tear, such as the aging carpet and small mold spots in the bathroom, but not serious. A big point of criticism, however, is the staff at the reception. Unfortunately, it seemed overwhelmed by stressful situations, especially when multiple guests wanted to check in at the same time. Friendliness and customer service don't seem to be the top priority here - on the contrary, rude comments like "If you don't like it, you can go to another hotel" are absolutely unacceptable. What was particularly noticeable was that guests who checked in through a tour company or a bus trip were treated significantly worse than individual guests. They were perceived as second-class guests. Overall, the hotel offers solid accommodation with good food, although management should urgently invest in training the reception staff.

The hotel is in a very good location by the river. The breakfast was very good and the size of the rooms was quite sufficient. Everywhere in the hotel was decorated with the works of the painter named Seo. The glass wall of the bathroom in the room was covered with a work of the artist. This added a very nice atmosphere to the room.

I am a very frequent guest at the hotel. Contact via email regarding special requests was not answered at all! Afterwards I called there and was simply put off until the day of arrival. On the day of arrival at the reception the ladies don't really care. Only in the evening were there two really nice, courteous employees at the reception! Sharzad and Fumana great! The shower drain was blocked! We told the staff at reception, but again the listless one from the day before! It's a shame that you're not valued as a frequent, loyal guest! Never again. I was greeted incredibly unfriendly at reception and would have preferred to leave before I even saw the room. All three colleagues were super short and unfriendly. The lady in particular, spelled "Seazard" or something similar, literally ignored me and made me feel like I was being a bother. A little tip: “Welcome to the artotel, nice to have you here.” I won't be staying here the next time I'm in Cologne!!! Rooms are getting old and windows are dirty.

Check in was easy and the service was informative and freindly. The room was beautiful. The bed was large and comfortable. The view was lovely. There is a terrace with very nice view of the city and a gym. We found that the hotel was nicely located a short distance from town by walk and to the metro. The location was quiet and safe. Very easy to go to the chocolate museum and to walk across and along the river. We enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay here again.

Unfortunately, my stay in this hotel was not entirely satisfactory. The room was not completely clean - there were stains on the carpet and visible dirt and scratches on the walls. I found the dirt next to the toilet particularly unhygienic and it was unclear what it was. Another big drawback was the volume. The air conditioning/heating was quite loud and the street noise was very noticeable through the poorly insulated windows. The sink in the middle of the room may be a design element, but for me it's impractical. After using the toilet you have to touch doors with unwashed hands, which I don't find particularly hygienic. In addition, the sockets are only on one side next to the bed, otherwise just further away at the table, which makes them a bit uncomfortable to use. An absolute no-go, however, was that there were cobwebs hanging in the middle of the room - and spiders actually climbed down during my stay. The impression of cleanliness is further enhanced.

I stayed in art' otel, the excellent hotel that offers optimal value for money. The service at breakfast was simply fantastic. Since I was using two crutches, I was immediately helped to put together my food and bring it to the table. I can only say good things about this hotel. It is centrally located and has very good meeting and seminar rooms, which contributed to my complete satisfaction.

Great location, rooms are OK. Just don't understand the layout of the long table. And we don't like the sink in the room either. But ok A matter of taste. But what doesn't work at all!!!! ... the carpet on the 3RD FLOOR. How disgusting is this floor. It felt like it hadn't been vacuumed for weeks and there were various stains (barf stains?) in front of the room doors. With this in mind, we will unfortunately no longer book the hotel Unfortunately, the high overnight price wasn't worth it. Too bad. Because it's actually a beautiful house.

We chose it for an overnight stay, it was clean, tidy and the location was very good. The only downside is that there is a charge for parking for hotel guests. If you look at the parking fee separately, you can say that it is reasonably priced.

The hotel initially makes a good impression. Room size is good, facilities sufficient. However, we had no hot water and the staff didn't really care about that.

Definitely do not choose this hotel. Due to the weather conditions, our flight did not take off and we could not check into the hotel, and the hotel does not help in any way regarding the change of day or other matters. If it was our fault, the hotel is right, but I would expect them to support us for reasons that are completely out of our control. For this reason, definitely do not choose it.

Correct hotel, located 15 minutes from the center. With a train stop 10 minutes walk away. Nice walk along the Rhine. They don't serve meals, only breakfast, but across the bridge, there is an Italian restaurant that is very good. Correct room, although I missed instructions for the air, since it was hot and it was not easy to understand its operation. I didn't like that the sink was in the sleeping area, and not in the bathroom. Varied and correct breakfast. Correct business hotel.

We stayed at the hotel for one night. We were able to park the car free of charge in a public parking lot nearby. The city center was within walking distance. The rooms are stylishly designed, the bathroom is separated from the room by a colorful window. All in all, we felt very comfortable and would stay there again at any time.

Easily accessible in a few minutes on foot from various stops, the chocolate and mustard museums are practically next door, and there are many options for eating out.

The elevator was broken. There was only one elevator. We waited at least 10 minutes to reach our room, which is a shame for such a hotel. The rooms weren't warm.

The proximity to the Rhine River is a plus. I loved the location and the rooms, the decoration and the service is very good.

The location was very good. We stayed at the end of November. It was 1 minute walking distance to the Christmas market. Having a parking lot was a big advantage. But the room was not clean enough. There were always things in high places under the beds. The price was too high and the sea view room had a tiny window on the front. Most of it was the wall on the view side. Only one of the elevators was working and we spent our lives waiting for the elevator. Since it was always full, we could board on the 3rd lap or so.

We probably had the same room as HS (review posted 3 weeks ago). What was striking was the mold in the shower, loose flush button on the toilet, and loose parts in the bathroom. Elevator is broken. This results in waiting times at other elevators. Cleaning could be better. Otherwise we had a great stay and enjoyed the center of Cologne, because the location is perfect. We had a good time.

The hotel is in a good location and you can easily get anywhere on foot. The staff, whether at the reception or in the dining room, are always helpful and extremely friendly!!! The many little touches are also funny. Such as a fruit basket that guests can help themselves to during the day or if you take part in the Eco program and don't have your room cleaned for two days, you get 4 drinks for free. There are a lot of ideas here... The quiet rooms are also positive! I've visited many hotels, but the Art'otel is one of the quietest I've had the pleasure of staying in. And the hotel was very full, but you couldn't hear anything about it at night. However, I would strongly recommend that the hotel management clean or replace the carpet!!! All rooms and hallways are carpeted. Which, among other things, ensures good noise insulation. The only difference is that some of the carpet is already very worn or not a feast for the eyes with heavy stains. On the 4th floor we could see dried vomit stains! Professional carpet cleaning is absolutely necessary here!!! My sister-in-law was on the 5th floor with her husband and, like our room, her room carpet also had a few smaller stained spots. Not pretty, but everything is still within limits. Only the vomit stains in the hallway, in two different places, are not nice at all. It is of course sad that a hotel suffers or has increased costs when guests cannot behave. All in all, we would book the hotel again at any time, as it is otherwise very clean and the staff are all very friendly! The breakfast offer was also very good!!!

Spent New Year's Eve in Cologne at the art'otel cologne, location is great, everything is within walking distance. Room is well furnished, a few blemishes [signs of use are visible, but everything is well maintained and clean] The fact that there was only one elevator available on New Year's Eve was a bit annoying. The breakfast buffet was great, the best thing for me was that there were lactose-free products to choose from. Absolute plus point.

From December 29th to January 1st, 2025 Only one elevator worked, the hotel with 5 floors was pretty fully booked, we had to wait 20-30 minutes for the elevator every day, plus the shabby rooms cost 225 euros per night and then you get homeless accommodation, the rooms had carpets plus in the hallway on the 4th floor bolted including walls. The fuse box in the room was almost as loud as a mixer and there was no manager to speak to because they had a nice day off. I was only able to complain about this with the overwhelmed reception staff, but there was no solution. I will be in touch with the person responsible in person in the next few days.

We stayed at the art'otel for the first time on the 4th weekend of Advent. The room was very nice, with a view of the Rhine and the Ferris wheel. There was a small stand in the foyer where guests were offered free mulled wine, pastries, candy floss and roasted almonds. A really nice idea for Christmas. The staff was very friendly throughout and we felt very comfortable. The breakfast was good and sufficient, again with a view of the Rhine and the chocolate museum. Despite it being the 4th weekend of Advent, there were enough parking spaces available. We'd love to come back.

Hotel very well located especially for visiting the Christmas markets and the city center. Pleasant room. Simple but effective breakfast. The lunch room is not very large for the size of the hotel, tables all placed end to end. You have to love promiscuity. Small Small problem with our reservation, we booked for 2 adults and 2 children and when we arrived the room did not allow 4 people to sleep! The steward told us that the reservation was not normal...a half solution was found by providing us with 1 extra BED...so we had to share our bed with one of our children. The room could have accommodated 2 extra beds!

Overall, rather disappointing for this price range! Rooms shabby, air conditioning terribly loud, but the window cannot be opened because the rooms facing the street are terribly loud. The air in the room unbearable. The breakfast room resembles a canteen, the foyer/reception is too heavily perfumed. You had to drag your suitcases through the stairwell because only one elevator worked and that was when the hotel was at full capacity. All this with room prices >€200 per night! Compensation not available! We were positively impressed by the friendliness of the staff and the location of the hotel.

Very nice hotel right on the Rhine. You can get to the city quickly. We went to the harbor Christmas market, which is right outside the door. The staff is friendly, the rooms are modern and a good size. You can park in the hotel underground car park for 25 euros a day.

More appearance than reality. I visited this hotel with great anticipation and expectation. The disappointment is all the greater: dirty, worn carpets, unbearably loud air conditioning throughout the night, rooms with poor soundproofing, only two elevators that don't even work properly (the alternative stairwell then takes you directly to the street), a narrow, uncomfortable canteen-style breakfast room and more many little things. If only the breakfast room with a view of the Rhine and the Rhine was on the 5th floor... The price-performance ratio is unreasonable. The house is modern but not guest-oriented. The good location, a good breakfast buffet and very friendly staff at breakfast are positive.

1 elevator was broken and you sometimes had to wait for minutes for the elevator. You were led outside in the stairwell, then you came through the main entrance to breakfast. That was a bit irritating.

An incredible hotel. Parking available above ground and in a parking garage. Very safe and secure area. Walking distance to the sckholade museum (5mins) and the centre (15mins). The staff were incredible, so helpful to my partner who's in wheelchair. Lift available at a different entrance as the main entrance has steps. The rooms were great, amenities were great and the view was awesome. Also loved the aesthetic of the hotel. Overall very happy and would go back again if ever in Cologne.

Good hotel for business trips, but you should come to the hotel full - there is no restaurant, even if the screen in the room advertises it. My room was nicely decorated and very clean. Small kettle with tea/coffee in the room and great WiFi. The fitness area disappointed me, super small and a little rancid. You can save yourself and rather enjoy the great location of the hotel at the Rheinauhafen. Sauna costs €6 extra. What really bothered me was the street noise, my room was on two main roads that you could hear all night long and the windows weren't insulated well enough. When checking in, I would imagine friendliness. I don't think the location is ideal, there are no good connections to public transport.

Nice hotel in a good location. Our room was very spacious and very clean. Coffee/tea preparation was also available. The fact that the sink is in the room is something we also know from other hotels and didn't bother us at all. We skipped breakfast because it cost us 23 euros per person. do not appear justified. The parking spaces in the (public) underground car park are very narrow and you have to be extremely careful when pulling out of a parking space because the entrance and exit are the same and you have to turn the vehicle around. Otherwise the hotel is definitely recommended

Quality-price non-existent! Almost €200 for one night for an unkept room. Torn curtains, rust in the bathroom, dirty shower cubicle, broken toilet paper holder. For €200 a night I expected more! More attention should be paid to small details.

The rooms are clean, the beds are very comfortable. We asked for an extra duvet and it arrived immediately. The price fits the budget very well. The staff is caring. When I come to Cologne again, I will come to this hotel again without hesitation. Just ask for a taxi via UBER. Don't leave that job to the reception!!! Even though I only wanted a Taxi, the Limo came. :( I came back after months and stayed for 1 week. It's a wonderful hotel, I admired its cleanliness. The staff is always friendly. The reception is helpful. I had no problem ordering a taxi from the hotel. I went to the airport by normal taxi from outside. Price performance is perfect. Thank you art'otel.

Positives: Modern, clean, up to date hotel. Good staff, good breakfast, rooms clean and bathrooms are not grimey. Aircon works excellent. Theres a small gym with 2 treadmills, some weights, a bench and a multi exercise cable machine. Theres also a sauna and a rooftop terrace you can take your drinks to. Theres a bar near reception and also a self serve mini bar next to reception for hours when the main bar is closed. Underground parking is only €6 per day. Area’s for improvement: more sockets in the rooms, mount the blackout curtains closer to the window so they are effective, have more staff tend the bar and reception, speed up the elevators!

Very nice! A really great feel-good hotel with a charming and stylish flair. The works of art on the walls are also absolute eye-catchers and give the rooms a pleasant feel-good atmosphere. You feel welcome here as a guest

Booked the room spontaneously. Very friendly reception. Large, clean room. Comfortable wide bed with good mattress. Great shower. Nice roof terrace for early coffee. We didn't try breakfast...
