I've been there constantly for over a year now. I love the family atmosphere & I would almost travel around the world for the sausage salad 😂.
I can recommend it to anyone who loves homemade food & enjoys German cuisine.
We ate the two vegan dishes (goulash + rolled roast). The taste is delicious, but if you leave the restaurant hungry after a 25€ meal, then something is wrong.
The rolled roast is more or less just a salad. Both could also serve as an appetizer.
We wouldn't go there again.
I received a wrong dish than what I ordered and when I asked about it, I was met with a defensive response that you misspoke and WE ALL heard it. Ridiculous. The food was too salty, although it would have been nice if it tasted good, at least.
It's been 5 years since our family husband, I and 2 daughters visited Fribourg, we are from Nova Friburgo, Brazil, colonized by immigrants from Friburg 200 years ago. The lady who own the place offered us the best baklava we have ever tasted, I will never forget, everything was delicious and well served. I hope we can revisit the city and your place again.
It used to be the best döner place in Stühlinger, but now there's always a very unfriendly guy at the till so the atmosphere is lacking and there's excessive parsley added without asking.
I visited the Schwabentörle and was thrilled. The price-performance ratio is unbeatable. I had the Berlin-style beef liver with salad and was absolutely convinced by the quality and taste. The liver was buttery tender and the combination with the apples and onions was simply perfect. The salad was also very tasty. The service was also excellent – very friendly, attentive and quick. I can only warmly recommend Schwabentörle if you want to enjoy home-style cuisine at fair prices and with great service!
We took the menu there last week for 80 EUR - an absolute rip-off! Everything was served in tiny portions and carelessly, apparently the table was needed a second time that evening. You could clearly feel that, the individual courses were served in rapid succession. Sashimi and sushi were OK. The soup consisted of some broth with two pieces of steamed fish - not a culinary masterpiece either. The Japanese starters were quite strange - foie gras? curdled sauce for unmarinated raw asparagus? The main course with beef tongue was hardly seasoned and tasted very borderline. The sesame coated chicken consisted almost entirely of sesame coat. The side dishes were hardly recognizable, the rice that accompanied the main course was only served 5 minutes later. Overall, it was a waste of money and the food was in no way worth it.
