Very tasty, and even though it was well attended, we still got a good seat...we'd be happy to do it again

I'm trying to give as rational and honest an assessment as possible: Top location with a great ambience, depending on what space you have (whether window or middle). However, people sit rather close together, with little distance to the next table. Service is ok, lots of waiters - so you always have someone to contact if something goes wrong. Personally, I expect staff in customer contact to speak at least “good” German or English - which was sometimes not the case. I'll start with the plus point about the food, because there were four of us and we all had "all you can eat" - there was a tomahawk steak on the house - that was really the best thing about the meal, we were served it after about 50 minutes - unfortunately covered in sauce. I was just disappointed with the food, in my opinion the food was really bad. Sushi tastes below average. Almost every piece of meat already had sauce on it, it's better to have it separately if you don't like the sauce. The “entrecôte” was partly so raw that you thought it could still be cooked, and in general the meat had a taste of gas/spirits. The chicken was very unusual in taste. The chicken schnitzel was frozen food. Very little choice of desserts. Some dishes were not brought. Even the classic “Asian” cuisine, including Japanese specialties, were just “okay” - just like at a classic Asian snack bar or even worse. The worst thing of all is this - extremely long waiting times!!! That was an “all you can WAIT”! We were four grown men who were hungry. After about 25 minutes we got our first small plates... 2x mini skewers with three "pieces" of meat on them, which we then shared between the four of us... And it continued like this every 10 minutes later spring rolls etc. It was only after an hour that we briefly had more than 5 plates on the table at once. The price is €33/€34 - but the drinks are separate and not included. I don't think it's justified considering the quality. For me it was the first and last visit to this store, from the outside great, from the inside yuck - no recommendation.

Despite reservations, we still had to wait a long time. That's why we preferred to leave rather than wait outside the door when it was 0 degrees.

We were there probably 10-11 times this year and it was always very, very tasty. The staff was very friendly and the restaurant was very nicely decorated. A bit noisy but it's not a 20-person venue. We would love to come back.❤️It has quickly become our favorite restaurant.

We went here to eat the all you can eat but it was honestly very disappointing. For over €30, there is CLEARLY not enough choice here. You always have 15 minutes between rounds before you can order again, but it takes 20 minutes for 3 out of 10 items per round to be served. Several items in each round were forgotten and not even served. Drinking is also quite expensive. 1 bottle of water costs 6€ which is absolutely cheeky considering that you already pay 30€ for food, which is a maximum of 20€. I would not recommend the restaurant for all you can eat.

Really great shop, the food tastes very good and the selection is really big. The concept is not really new but it has been implemented wonderfully here. The service staff was really nice and took complete care of us. Price/performance ratio is top. Highly recommended!

The all-you-can-eat offers a large selection of sushi and warm dishes. There were more than 4 of us so we also got a T-bone steak.

We were deeply disappointed. After seeing the advertisements and posts on Instagram over and over again, we wanted to try the restaurant. Despite reservations, we were unsure which table we should be seated at. We then got a 2 person table with a third chair. It was therefore very cramped during the meal. The sushi rice was mushy and barely seasoned. You should expect a sushi restaurant to make better sushi than I make at home. The fillings are just as tasteless as the rice. A lot of sauce is poured everywhere and even the varieties without sauce are full of sauce because they are close to the others on the plate. The chef seems to be happily single, or they've simply run out of salt. None of the meat and fish dishes were salted. The second soup we ordered was saltier than the Dead Sea. The dumplings are bland, especially the ones with shrimp filling are inedible. On the one hand, the second portion of steak was missing the mashed potatoes and, on the other hand, I actually feel sorry for the poor cow who died for it. I have rarely tasted such a messed up piece of meat. The paper from the preparation is still stuck to the sweet dumplings and one portion arrived complete with a bow tie. In general, the food has nothing to do with the pictures on the tablet or Instagram. At the end the waitress didn't ask if everything was okay or if it tasted good. I suspect you could already guess the answer. We were full, but a kebab would have been enough to fill us up. I strongly recommend rethinking your concept and putting quality first. I recommend your chef an internship at Oishii in the West Arcades.

Anyone who comes here for the first time will be a bit overwhelmed. That's how my husband and I felt. The waiter came to the table with a Taplett computer and explained to us in not very good German how the order worked. After another explanation from a guest at the table, we understood it. The sushi was good and tasted good. The drinks came quickly. You could place an order every 15 minutes. I think it's good that they point out right at the entrance that you should only order as much as you can manage.

The selection and quality are simply great. The service is very attentive and courteous. The restaurant is absolutely recommended.

Ordering via tablet, brilliant idea💡 and very innovative. 👍 However, the orders were sometimes too late, which meant that not all of the friends at the table ate at the same time.

At first it was quite good there, but on the last visit it was a disaster. We were there for 2 hours and waited a long time for something to come. In round 3 we gave up waiting and ordered something again and then a lot came at once and half didn't come at all. In the 2 hours there was a total of 1 hour of waiting time. When we complained because there was too much at once in the end, we offered to just take it with us, but they didn't want that either. They were then allowed to throw away food. For what is on offer here it is grossly overpriced. We're not coming anymore.

The best Asian restaurant I have ever seen. The employees are super nice and the food is great. The food comes very quickly. Hardly any waiting times, the restaurant is very nice. Simply great. Everyone has to come here sometimes. The money is definitely worth it. There is a lot to choose from. Above all, I think it's good that you can see where and who made the food. So you know that it is a very hygienic restaurant. I will definitely come more often

It is the best restaurant of its kind in the city. The selection of different dishes together with the Allyoucaneat concept is outstanding. The restaurant is not recommended for vegans, but for vegetarians there is enough choice to justify the high price, although you should like avocado. For everyone else, there is a really large selection that goes far beyond sushi. Whether Peking duck, teriyaki chicken or various dumplings, fried vegetables, miso soup etc. However, as a regular customer, I notice the changing quality of some dishes. However, this is not so annoying as the Allyoucaneat offering allows you to overlook individual dishes. But the same dishes can be fantastic next time. Likewise, individual dishes sometimes don't arrive or it takes a long time before you can speak to a service person. Personally, I always enjoy coming back, the positive aspects far outweigh the negative aspects.

We ordered sushi platters to Herdern in the early evening: very good, friendly service, fast, friendly delivery, excellent quality. We will order again, but we will definitely visit the restaurant ourselves. Thank you for a successful sushi evening @ home.

This restaurant is now also on the all-you-can-eat track, but with success. The competition in Freiburg is fierce, but when it comes to quality, only a few restaurants remain. Unkai is definitely one of them here. Taumi and Oishii are not included. To Unkai: What should arrive warm will arrive warm. Lots of and nice staff. Wide selection of dishes. I have already been here twice and will come again for the third time with a clear conscience.

It is a place that has a cozy, elegant and very organized atmosphere, the varied food is super delicious!!! The sushi was very well prepared, the sheep meat and the Tomahawk stole the night, the service was very friendly, they quickly picked up the service so that you were no longer busy every 5 minutes, definitely recommended!!

I definitely cannot recommend this Unkai restaurant! I reserved a table for 7pm on a particular day. We arrived on a birthday and were unpleasantly surprised... The manager-waiter simply forgot to reserve our table for us, it was occupied by other visitors. My guests and I had to wait about 1 hour until a table was available!!! The manager didn't apologize!!! The vacation was ruined. The food was salty and tasteless, the dishes were chipped and broken in places. There is very little parking space for cars; in general I do not recommend this establishment!

Nice atmosphere and delicious food

We were all very excited! Great location, fast service, easy to use with the tablet (at the all-you-can-eat buffet). A varied selection and the quality is very good. Everything just tasted great! Simply a must!

It was alright. We had Sushi all you can eat. The Sushi was not bad but not good either. Best were the warm Snacks, Rolls and stuff that you can also order "for free". Taking this into consideration its quite pricy then.

Been here a few times now. The food usually tastes good, the staff is quick, friendly and quick. Optionally you can sit outside, so it was a bit of a drag. Inside it smelled very strongly of food, a little airing out every now and then would be good. To get to the toilet you walk past the counter where there is always a lot of hustle and bustle.

Yesterday we had the all you can eat “buffet”. So you can't exactly call it a buffet. You have a tray and can use it to place your order (both drinks and food). In total you can order 10 so-called rounds with 5 items per round and per person. Drinks are excluded. I think the concept is very good and it's fun to share food with your friends. The food was very tasty and there is a large selection of sushi, dumplings, fish and meat as well as a small selection of "dessert" (-> ice cream). In my opinion the drinks are very expensive. Overall it was a great evening and a lot of fun. Will definitely go there again.

This was our second time at Unkai and both times we had the all you can eat menu and both times we were extremely satisfied. The food is very tasty, whether sushi, dumplings or grilled shrimp. The service is great, the food is brought to the table very quickly and the employees are always friendly and courteous. Definitely worth a visit.

Best Sushi ive found in Germany so far.

Simply outstanding! It's a shame we live so far away. The sushi was perfect. The entrecôte and a huge T-bon steak prepared especially for us were simply delicious, cooked to perfection (we wanted it medium rare), which is something you often don't even get in steak restaurants. All of this is included in the all u can eat price. What you should probably know beforehand is that you can choose 5 dishes per person every 15 minutes via a tablet. If fewer were ordered, the rest will “forfeit” and the 15 minute timer will still start.

We ordered the lunch menu and it was totally worth it. I usually rarely get full from sushi, but this really blew me away. The fish and the rest were very fresh. The fried sushis in particular were very delicious and warm. The gyoza, which you could order as a starter for €4, was also very tasty. The employees were very polite and we were always served quickly. Top!

We were at Unkai for the first time today. And unfortunately we have to say, we won't be coming back. The meat and fish dishes were unfortunately very unimaginative. Well... Very expensive, the "all you can eat" is the same principle as at oishi, you can order 10 rounds of 5 portions and costs just under 34 euros p.p., without drinks. A water 0.7 simply costs 6 euros. The food itself was good to okay, nothing more than that is just cheap sushi and not made by a sushi master. Some of the waitresses were underground and didn't know where to go. For us, things were missing on some laps or there were too many on the plates. The restaurant was very busy on a Wednesday evening. The air conditioning was running at full blast and it was far too cold. The air conditioning also leaks like a gravel truck.

This was my first time at the restaurant and my friend and sister's second. The place is very beautiful and attractive in terms of decoration. At first glance, you get a very good impression of the place. The service was not good, although a couple of guys were friendly, they took a long time to serve us and made a couple of mistakes. The staff was running around the restaurant, a lot of stress was transmitted during the service. Perhaps there is a lack of training for the team or direct management of how to provide the service. The internal chaos was noticeable, which should not be noticeable. As for the level of food, quite average. Nothing spectacular or bad. Intermediate. The sushi was poorly tightened, loose, and when you ate it, it fell apart immediately. Very basic dishes. There was also a lot of chaos in the kitchen, which did not look completely orderly and clean. Price vs quality, I think it's worth it only if you have an empty stomach and plenty of space, and you don't want to eat something high quality. The dessert is quite basic, but still delicious. We paid €34 for all you can eat + €4.50 for a Schorle juice per person. Practically €40. In the end, clearly we couldn't eat everything and we couldn't take it home, which is understandable, but the last time my relative went, they did let her bring the food. It's a shame that all of that is going to waste. However, the background is understood. In my experience, I wouldn't repeat it. I think for that money I can eat less, but better.

The all-you-can-eat menu is reasonably priced at around €30, but unfortunately the food is only partially convincing. The sushi is rather mediocre and monotonous in selection. Unfortunately, the quality of the tuna sushi in particular is disappointing. The noodles are probably the highlight. Please avoid the steak, it is very tough. The noodles are a mystery to me. Instead of Asian noodles, we were served spaghetti with Asian (?) spices. I'm not entirely sure, but it was definitely spaghetti and not Asian noodles. It should also be mentioned that the images on the tablet unfortunately have nothing to do with reality. The service is ok, not really friendly but very fast. Ambience also ok, but nothing special. We weren't disappointed after the visit, but wouldn't go again. Unfortunately, this restaurant is not suitable at all for lovers of Asian cuisine.

Ordered sushi portions several times, the fish was always delivered warm. The food is poorly seasoned, the service team picks up the plates without asking if you're ready. We ordered jasmine tea and bitter jasmine tea was delivered. All you can eat food at a great price, the food quality suffered enormously.

Staff is friendly, the food is fresh. We often order sushi to pick up, the quality and taste are great! But there have also been worse days with sushi, but in any case it was worlds better than the competitor at the freight station!

While the sushi seemed high quality and tasted good, the rest was rather disappointing. Many plates simply didn't look like they did on the tablet. The pink entrecote with mashed potatoes, for example, was a well-done piece with a fat crust, completely without mashed potatoes. Drinks overpriced, that's annoying. In addition, we often had to wait a long time and orders never arrived at the same time. It's a shame, because the ambience was actually good. However, the waitresses were wearing inconsistent street clothes, which seemed unprofessional. I didn’t understand what “fusion” meant here either.

More for uncritical people who are easily satisfied. I have eaten in better sushi restaurants for the same money. Sushi had little taste. Fish not of the highest quality. Crockery had pieces missing everywhere (every plate) and sofa needs to be replaced.

We've been here five times now and will continue to keep coming back. Really enjoy the concept of all you can eat sushi. It allows you to try everything. The quality of the fish is good, you can really tell by the taste of the salmon avocado hand roll. Some of our other favourites are the tuna nigiri, custard bun, and green tea and lychee ice cream. We wouldn't recommend the crunchy gold roll or any of the rolls that are deep fried around. They didn't taste much like anything and were pretty heavy. I also wouldn't go to heavy on the side dishes since they fill you up a lot. Unfortunately the drinks we got (yuzu gin cocktail and mango coconut drink) were quite pricey at 10€ each. Would not get it again. The atmosphere is always nice and we usually make a reservation before we go so we don't have to wait to be seated.

Unfortunately, it's not nearly as good as it used to be. Quantity doesn't equal class. I've been coming here for a few years and always eat a la carte. There was exactly one mini piece of mango in the four rolls of Salmon Lover. The food was also very carelessly prepared. The eye eats too. This also applies to the dishes used. Only the service was quick.

Disappointing restaurant in Ramot!!! Substandard service, the waiters don't understand what you want and you have to ask for everything several times. The fish is indeed fresh but the sushi looks terrible. A disappointing experience at the highest level and I forgot to mention that there is no air in the restaurant and they are not ready to open the air conditioner on the grounds that the air conditioners are not working.

I was looking for a location for my birthday and farewell party. The reviews were crucial for me. The presentation of the site is very promising. If you order All You Can Eat like me and didn't grow up in the digital age, the ordering system is pure stress. Ordering in peace was no longer possible with 10 people. The quality of the sushi were average. The entrecote, I've had better quality on the table. Otherwise I was very positively surprised by the taste of some of the bites. Conclusion: If I'm going to eat in peace with friends, not here. Once again positive feedback to the website. The site made a very positive impression on me, which unfortunately didn't come true in the end.

We ordered a la card sushi menu. I got a warm beer with ice cubes in the glas...? Do they own a fridge? Several times we got food that we did NOT ordered delivered to our table. Waited patiently 40 min for our food to arrive. I think for 30 + Euro per plate you can expect better quality. I have eaten better supermarket sushi at a lower price. If you want quantity: go for this restaurant. If you want quality: avoid it.

Do NOT order a delivery on this site. I made my order today at 20:06 (it said it would take between 25 and 50 minutes). Then it said it would be delivered at 21:36, and it’s 21:52 now and I’m still waiting. The guy at the hotel call them and they said they’re still waiting for a driver.

The ambience in the restaurant is a very elegant and beautiful atmosphere. The food is also beautifully prepared and served in a variety of ways. The food is very tasty and also inexpensive. The take-away option is also recommended, the food is well packaged and everything you need is included. The service is very good and the employees are nice and friendly to the customers. Unfortunately, there are occasional difficulties with communication because only a few people speak German and English doesn't always work properly.
