The food was incredibly delicious and the selection was extensive, making it a great value for money. However, the owner or manager admitted far too many customers, completely overwhelming the staff. As a result, about 50% of our orders never arrived or only arrived after a 45-minute wait.

We've always been satisfied, but today we were very disappointed. The food is consistently high quality, and the "runners" have earned their money. Criticism goes to the manager. Despite a full restaurant, more and more customers were accepted without regard for existing customers or the staff's availability. The result was long waits, incomplete orders, and cold dishes. Profitability is essential, but at the expense of staff and customers? We left hungry. A shame.

We had the all-you-can-eat option and everything was incredibly delicious! I'll be back. Unfortunately, it's a bit more expensive than many comparable restaurants. Vegetarian and vegan options are available, but the selection could be expanded considerably.

Oishii is a fairly spacious restaurant with a very simple ambiance. In terms of cleanliness, there's still room for improvement: the walls are dirty, the tables aren't always clean, and the furniture is quite dated. It feels more like an older diner. The food was good, but simplicity dominates here, too. The sushi comes without any decorations that make you eat with your eyes. The ordering process is very efficient via tablet. After ordering, the food arrives within a few minutes. The service is also quite good, but is limited to delivery and pickup.

The place has deteriorated over the years. The evening menu has become increasingly limited, and the dishes that were still available tasted of rancid grease and the sushi rice was unseasoned.

The entrance to the restaurant was beautifully clean, and everything was kept very clean (including the interior). The waiters and staff were very attentive to order and cleanliness. I'm masterful. It's very cozy here, but noisy. Of course, that's unavoidable in public spaces, so it's not a problem. The ambiance is relatively strict. However, minimalist wouldn't really fit. Nice decor and not too much. It invites the eye to look but doesn't overwhelm it. The dishes are beautifully presented. Little gimmicks like an omelet on rice wrapped in seaweed, mussels in two different ways, and duck sliced ​​and fanned out. Everything is simply wonderful to look at. But unfortunately, the taste isn't. (From my perspective). No matter what you eat here, everything seems slightly sweet. Almost unnatural. I'm used to perceiving the lighter vinegar note in sushi rice. The ice cream, however, was rather less sweet. A strange combination. The duck was the highlight here. Crispy, cooked through, tender, and not too chewy. With the delicious sauce, it was a real treat. The chicken salad was more authentic than good. It might be my fault, but the dressing was very sour with a very smelly aftertaste. I must note that this is just one experience. It was worth a visit in every respect 😁 Many thanks to the kitchen and the service.

All-you-can-eat buffet, but the quality is uneven, even mediocre. It's better to go to a real Japanese restaurant.

Yes, unfortunately, the menu has shrunk considerably compared to before. A shame, a shame. But they still have the delicious wakame and haven't changed the manufacturer. Good thing! :) They're delicious. And the kimchi is also great. The ginger was so fresh and juicy, which was also great.

Update 2025: This restaurant hasn't been visited for three years. The following is the original review from 2019: I regularly eat at Oishii with various people. Everyone involved is absolutely thrilled every time! Orders are placed in the evenings, all-you-can-eat style, using a tray. Service is straightforward and very intuitive. However, I would recommend other restaurants for vegetarians. However, if you love plenty of fish and high-quality meat, this is the place for you. From classic sushi and deep-fried rolls to scallops and lamb chops, everyone will find something to suit their taste.

A very good experience at Oischii Sushi We were a group of 11, and they set up a large, comfortable table for everyone. The all-you-can-eat system works with devices that allow you to place multiple rounds of orders, with a gap of about 10 minutes between each. In our case, the restaurant was completely full (Friday night), and the delivery of dishes became somewhat confusing: sometimes orders from different rounds were mixed up, and it wasn't clear what corresponded to each round. However, we understand this was due to the high number of diners and the pleasant atmosphere. Otherwise, the food was delicious and well presented. Overall, a very good option for enjoying varied and abundant sushi.

The restaurant itself isn't bad, but you have to differentiate between lunch and dinner. At lunchtime there is very little going on and the food comes very quickly, but there are not many types of Suhsi that are only available in the evening. Another point is that the lunch menu costs 10 euros less, i.e. 20 instead of the 30 euros for the evening. So, in the evening you have a full selection of different types of suhsi and fish in all different varieties, but it is often very, very crowded so that you can hardly understand each other and almost have to shout at each other. Furthermore, the staff can hardly keep up with the orders, which means there are around 3 or 4 people in service for around 30 tables where up to 4 people are sitting, which means that some orders don't come or only come 2 rounds later and the actually warm dishes end up cold on the table. However, the suhsi in general tastes very, very tasty and the all you can eat idea is also brilliant. The new competition in the sushi sector doesn't seem to be a problem for Oishii, as it is sometimes packed, especially on weekends. The food and especially the sheer selection of dishes at the All You Can Eat is an (almost) incomparable taste experience every time. It is to be expected that logistical difficulties sometimes arise (e.g. longer waiting times for certain dishes such as meat). In terms of quality, based on the fluctuations observed, I would say “there is more.” Sometimes the salmon is super tasty and fresh, sometimes maybe not so much. Sometimes the sushi is stable and tasty, sometimes it falls apart a little too easily. The ambience is simple and "space-saving". You feel a bit crammed together, especially when it's full. It is correspondingly loud. So no relaxed moonlight atmosphere for a sensual couple's evening by candlelight, more of a canteen atmosphere with a waiter. But that probably hasn't bothered us enough so far compared to the positive points, otherwise we wouldn't be constantly crying and telling ourselves that we're living beyond our means as often as we go out for sushi. All in all I would say a good place to eat in Freiburg, although with room for improvement.

Bad experience - we won't be back We ate at this restaurant about a month ago and unfortunately our experience was disappointing. The food was fine and the service from the staff was mostly acceptable - with one exception. A woman in the restaurant was extremely unfriendly. We had eaten almost everything except for two small pieces of rice as it was too sweet for our taste. We chose dishes other than sushi because the rice seemed too sweet to us. When the woman saw the leftover rice grains, she reacted angrily and said that in this case we should have only ordered sashimi. This comment was inappropriate and really annoyed us. What bothered us even more was the fact that we saw at another table that guests were leaving significantly more food, including meat, but there was no comment from this woman. This left us with a very uncomfortable feeling. We had eaten here once two years ago and had a negative impression of this person back then. After this new experience, we decided never to come back - even if we were offered a free meal. Unfortunately a very disappointing and unpleasant experience.

We had reserved a table, when we arrived we were told that they were already fully booked for the day and couldn't let anyone in, it wasn't just us, so really bad organization, we've never experienced anything like that.

It was my first time eating sushi because I don't really like fish, but there is also a nice selection here without fish, which I really enjoyed.

Is a good restaurant with a clever concept. The food includes everything from meat to vegetarian. Prices have risen again but are still acceptable in the face of inflation. The plates come freshly prepared and after a reasonable time. The only small drawback: Every now and then you forget a partial order. You should always make a reservation on the weekend, especially if there are several people.

We eat here regularly, sometimes with friends, sometimes as a family. The food is good, for the price you'll fill up every last person. With 3-4 fully ordered rounds we are definitely satisfied with the all-you-van-eat. Unfortunately, we had to realize again today that various dishes are brought to the table so late that you quickly lose track and suddenly instead of the 2 ordered portions, 4 or 5 are brought to the table. But you don't even need to try to explain this to the staff, as they don't speak German, English or French. (Statement from the service person: only Hungarian). Apart from the language, no consideration is given to whether there is still room for plates at the other end of the table; everything is literally always stuffed in the same place. The main thing is quickly, quickly. Sauces run down the edge of the plate, drinks are placed on the table so vigorously that it spills over. We will probably come back because - as far as the food is concerned - even those who don't necessarily want to eat sushi will get their money's worth. But if you're looking for good service, you'll unfortunately look in vain here.

Now I'm really happy there :) ---- In my opinion, the sushi at Oishii is one of the better sushis in Freiburg, but sometimes the taste is not 100% where it should be. Especially the rolls that only contain fish taste a little different than you would find in better shops. There are some exciting rolls that impress with sauces and exciting combinations. In general, the price-performance ratio is definitely very good. My biggest problem, however, is the service. So far I have had the feeling that all the waiters are annoyed by the customers and, for example, don't even look at me during the conversation. This makes it a bit uncomfortable if, for example, you repeatedly communicate that you want to pay and are afraid of upsetting the already annoyed waiter even more.

We had the "all-you-can-eat" menu, where you could order via an iPad. All in all, we were very satisfied and the price is still fair in relation to what you get in these times of high inflation, considering that a kebab costs around 10 euros.

Super delicious! The ambience is ok but not outstanding. The service overall could be friendlier. 99% of the time you get the food you ordered without saying a word. Except for one waiter, no one says anything. Since the restaurant is always packed, I understand that they are really stressed! We will go again!

This time my sister and I went to the Oishii Restaurant in the Westarkkaden All-You-Can-Eat because the restaurant in Dreisam Stadtmitte is unfortunately closed. The Chinese service woman was very friendly and nice, she also pointed out to us when we first ordered that some of the things we had ordered cost extra (we then deleted that) and showed us how we could see that. The food always came quickly. We ordered 3 times and then we were so full that nothing left us in our stomachs. Everything tasted very good, beautifully prepared and there was plenty to eat, you have to remember that if you scroll down on the tablet you will see even more dishes, we only discovered that after some time. In the future I will always bring my own gluten-free and salt-reduced soy sauce, but I didn't tell the waitress that I preferred that, maybe they would have had that. All in all, a very successful lunch, we paid €41 for 30 portions + two drinks for two, which is €1.36 per portion, so an incredibly cheap price, because some portions are several sushi or Maultaschen! The restaurant wasn't too crowded either, so we were able to eat in peace. We can highly recommend making your way to the Westarkaden, we are not normally in this area, but the shopping street is also interesting. We would be happy to come back to Oishii, thank you for the good food and the opportunity to enjoy there in this pleasant atmosphere.

Hello this is an honest independent review Don't eat there!!!! Some of the plates are unwashed and are simply filled with new dishes. The tables are sticky they are not wiped down. Some rounds are simply not brought and it is claimed that they were brought. Take a look at the WKD website where the restaurant was inspected by the food authorities and closed due to significant defects

I have been to Oishii several times, about once per year. This is the only time I have been so disappointed, I don't want to go back. The tempura was so greasy, you could squeeze the oil from it. The sushi was warm. The salmon teriyaki was tough. The mango ice cream had no taste of mango, only the color. I won't be going back.

I have always enjoyed eating here until now. We did the “all you can eat.” Anything deep fried was so grease-soaked, if you pressed your chopstick in it, it just flowed. Other foods like the sushi and nori were simply flavorless. Even the edamame tasted old and was overcooked. Salmon was tough as boots. Calamari was cooked inside an impenetrable ring of dense, overcooked dough. Food often came so late we had forgotten we ordered it. We won’t be back, anc for that I’m sorry - I always look forward to it.

We really liked the concept. The food itself was okay too. Personally, I liked the steak best. You are allowed to order 10 dishes per round, every now and then a few plates were forgotten, but that's not a bad thing as no one manages 10 rounds 🙂 There were two of us and we paid just under €80 (ordered 4 additional drinks)

Great idea to order with the iPad and in rounds to avoid wasting food. Food was good and fresh. Service so-so: Was alone in the restaurant as I was there on a business trip. The waitress asked me if someone else was coming, I said no. It was pretty full, but there were still a few tables available. The waitress struggled to give me a table for 4 people because I was alone. She was even cheeky enough to ask me to sit at the corner table right at the entrance, where there was hardly any lighting and where you could hear the constant comings and goings of the guests. At this point it was raining outside and very windy, so I would have been exposed to the draft. In addition, the space was far away from the actual dining room and also far away from the other guests. I felt really pushed away and said to the waitress that I wanted to go to the dining room where the other guests were. Visibly annoyed, she accompanied me to a table for four in the middle of the room. I was only able to order a drink after more than 20 minutes and I wasn't asked if everything was OK even during the meal. I didn't feel welcome and left after 2 rounds. The food is good, but you don't necessarily have to visit again.

The service was very quick and friendly. The drinks we ordered came very quickly. We had the evening buffet via tablet order. Unfortunately, my partner didn't like most of the food; the baked duck was good. The sushi itself was delicious, but unfortunately the sushi rice was lukewarm, which I personally don't like. My highlight was the nigiri with flambeed salmon. The selection of food is okay, but we were a little disappointed with the dessert selection, for example there weren't the usual sesame balls. We paid just under €72 for two meals and three large soft drinks, which I found to be quite expensive. We have often been to a provider in another city with the same system and we like the selection and taste better. Overall okay, but not outstanding.

Great sushi restaurant. The order is placed via tablet, which is brought to the place. You can also call the waiter if you have any questions. The food was great and the all-you-can-eat principle was simply phenomenal. You can order 10 rounds, each with 21 pieces, for 18 euros per person plus drinks. You can't do that much :-) A lot of things are already included in the price, some you have to pay extra for. But great price.

Restaurant with a lot of noise. Staff drop a lot. Receipts and sushi sticks lie on the floor. Orders are delivered quickly, but empty plates or containers are hardly cleared away. Red wine is light in color and tastes as if it has been diluted with water.

The Oishii system is quite nice: the table has an iPad from which the food and drinks are ordered. That's good because you don't have to wait for a waiter, the orders tick off a printer in the kitchen and are served as soon as they're ready. You can quickly lose track of things, but it helps to look at your order history on the iPad. But: once you're not careful and you order wildly, you'll quickly rack up a hefty bill. The all-you-can-eat deal, in which you can apparently order without limits, without having to think about money, helps against this. Unfortunately, this is a trap! We explain: Various mechanisms are used to prevent fraud. 1.: Everything must be ordered in one ordering round, the visit is limited to 10 rounds. 2.: A maximum of 5 dishes can be ordered per person per ordering round. 3rd: You have to wait 10 minutes until the next round of orders. One thing in advance: Even the hungriest visitor has the opportunity to fill his stomach to the hilt, even if the maximum number of dishes per ordering round or the maximum number of ordering rounds are not used. Those who don't know this and are therefore not completely relaxed can fall into costly mistakes. The deal costs 14.90 euros at lunchtime and 29 euros per person in the evening (which can of course change at any time). At lunchtime the offer is limited, e.g. sashimi or other dishes with predominantly fish are not included in the deal. In the evening you could previously eat up and down the entire menu - but that has been changed. Even in the evenings, surcharges are occasionally charged for the really good things. It's there, but it's easy to miss. Conclusion: The items are consistently tasty and well made, which is of course a matter of taste. In the end we were over 50 euros per person, and that was without even ordering five pints of beer.

I really like the food at this restaurant. Our family comes to eat 2 times a month. The staff are very friendly, the place is clean ( the furniture is not really nice), the sushi is good quality, the food is fresh and every menu is delicious. Ordering food is very easy through the tablet. The waiters are quite fast. If you don't wanna wait for your food, you have to order the next round before finished the last on your plate. The food will come just in time. I was very impressed with this restaurant.

Simple atmosphere. Friendly service, but no knowledge of German/English. The food was ok, but without any highlights. Beef skewer recommended. We were already full after the 3/10 round, so the €30 per nose is a bit much. We'll still go again one day.

I almost didn't go to Oishii due to some bad Google reviews from the last few weeks. Ultimately, I trusted my companion's recommendation and was not disappointed. It was very tasty and considering what you get, it was also very good value for money. The great trick is not to overeat (which is unfortunately tempting with all-you-can-eat), but to stop in good time when you are pleasantly full. I can imagine that otherwise you would have digestive problems. Perhaps this also explains why some people didn't feel well after visiting Oishii. In any case, we had a great time afterwards. We will be back.

It was our favorite restaurant. Emphasis was on it. Unfortunately, a child of 11 is charged 30 euros as an adult, which is simply outrageous for what a child is. Corona is not good for every company when it comes to pricing.

We got there, it was so loud in the restaurant, we decided to sit outside. We were only presented with the “all you can eat” option so we figured that was the only option. We thought about the price performance and realized that something must be wrong. We ordered the first round and half didn't arrive. In order to see if anything arrived at all, we ordered a second round. In the meantime we got 2 wrong sushi orders and 1.5 hours have passed. Something came out of the second round. We asked for our sushi and the waitress didn't even know if the sushi was still coming. We ended up having to pay for the entire 10 round menu without even 2 full rounds arriving at our table. When we wanted to complain, we were told that next time we could simply order “a la carte”. We didn't even know there was a map. All of that was purely intentional, quite frankly a cheek, there was a stoner waiter who took a quick nap at some table. I don't feel itchy anymore because I'm sick now. Just don't go. I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy!

Top location! Delicious fresh food, sushi, meat and more. You order it via tablet and everything is delivered quickly. At lunch, including kids under €85! The owner family is also just super friendly, including the staff.
