Sushi Restaurant Saya in Freiburg im Breisgau

I visited Saya Restaurant twice this month. One time, I indulged in a sushi dinner, and the other time, I wanted to check out their ramen noodles. Both experiences were fantastic! Sushi: The sushi completely met my expectations regarding preparation and care. I found it so flavorful that I didn’t even need soy sauce. I tried a variety of sushi, and they were all amazing. Ramen: The ramen also hit the mark for what I consider good ramen. The broth was delicious, and all the ingredients tasted fresh and top-notch. I’d definitely recommend this spot for food!

The sushi is beautiful & delicious

Yesterday evening we got a Unagi Don Set and a Vegi Set to take away. Very nice welcome from the employee and the boss at the stove. Everything was ready to go in 20 minutes. Great atmosphere, we almost had a hard time leaving, the dining room looks so cozy. We would be happy to come back another time and then stay for dinner. The food itself was a poem!!

Pretty good sushi place for Germany, but pricey for what it is. Even the lunch menu.

From the nice boss and his friendly team to the tastiest sushi in Freiburg and the surrounding area, we can only recommend Saya. You could even eat the onigiri without filling because the rice is already perfect. The fish/sashimi is super fresh and the sushi is not overloaded and simply tasty. Simply perfect to enjoy and the prices are completely justified.

We have already tried all the good sushi in Freiburg, Basho, Villa Thai, M9 etc. Saya tops them all without exaggerating. I can particularly recommend the tuna sashimi, or tuna in general. Very very high quality. A 100% recommendation for sushi lovers.

I ordered the bento box there and I was very positively surprised, for €7.50 it was really tasty and filling! The service was really nice and was able to give me good advice when ordering :)

Everything is just perfect here: from the cozy atmosphere and the pleasant peace and quiet, to the first-class service and the fantastic food. Although the restaurant is located in the train station building, there is a surprisingly calm and relaxed atmosphere. I enjoyed a sushi platter that was served with a variety of different fish and a mussel - all of outstanding quality! The tuna in particular in its various variations was an absolute dream - definitely try it! I was also impressed by the special sushi rice and the overall taste of the entire meal. I rarely write reviews, but I'm happy to make an exception for this restaurant! Thank you for being here. You are a real asset. The best sushi in all of Freiburg!

We ordered food for 2 people. The quantity and size of the sushi was disappointing and the price was not reasonable. Also, the food wasn't particularly good compared to other sushi restaurants in Freiburg. For example, the Spicy Salmon Roll only had a drop of Sircacha on top and was otherwise no different from the other rolls. Overall unfortunately disappointing. I expected more based on the Google rating.

The food was very good but we had to wait 45 minutes for it. We'll be back. Service very friendly and accommodating

One star is too many. The service doesn't speak German, there is only alcohol-free beer, it's simply terrible, the 4.8 on the rating is simply manipulated.

Every dish is a taste explosion, I'm a big fan of the truffle edamame. Very nice staff and a quiet, pleasant atmosphere in the middle of the main station atmosphere. The ramen could be available more often ;)

My favorite sushi shop in Freiburg. But unfortunately they were closed for my visit yesterday... :( I hope you come back soon...

Once a month is ramen day, when you can eat different ramen. Everything here is perfectly seasoned and you get a fantastic soup that makes you realize the (Japanese) perfection with which it is cooked. Absolute recommendation!

We had a lunch menu there and can only recommend the restaurant. Taste and quality were great (had veggie + fish set). It's a shame that the restaurant at the very back end of the station building doesn't get the attention it deserves! From time to time there is also ramen, but only as a special event. We definitely want to try that too. So see you soon 😊

We were there on Frame Day, which happens once a month and then they have a special menu. The broth was very tasty, even the vegetarian broth had a strong and very characteristic taste. You can tell the craftsmanship of the preparation and the long cooking time! The service is nice and the food came very quickly. Great recommendation.!

I ordered Kaiser-Don. For 40 euros I expected more quality. Squid was replaced with octopus without any clues. Salmon wasn't fresh either, it had such a gray color. Really disappointing :(

We waited here for the train and in the meantime spent some time in the restaurant with a very pleasant atmosphere and friendly staff. Ordered sushi to take away and everything worked out great. In terms of taste it was one of the best sushi experiences ever and in terms of price it was absolutely okay

Il ristorante è autentico giapponese, così come il concetto di averlo dentro la stazione...in Giappone i più buoni ristoranti sono dentro le stazioni. la qualità del cibo è ottima. Il personale è di Tokyo ed è gentilissimo..è bello anche potersi fare una chiacchierata e uno scambio di cultura. Consigliatissimo!

You have to wait a bit and the ambience in the main station isn't perfect, but the quality of the sushi is great. And you won't find a comparable price-performance ratio in the rest of Freiburg. Therefore a clear recommendation, really good!

By far the best Sushi in Freiburg! Pricing is high, but in my opinion appropriate. The restaurant itself is cozy, but watching people hurrying to catch their train might be distracting. Tip for travelers: Onigiri Bento

We discovered the restaurant by chance and were more than thrilled. The food is prepared very lovingly and tastes fantastically good. The prices are also reasonable. We ordered sushi to take away but the atmosphere is so nice that we will definitely eat there next time.

Tolle Speisekarte mit ungewöhnlichen Speisen, wenn man etwas anderes als Sushi probieren möchte: wir probierten Bakudan (roter Thunfisch, Natto, eingelegter Rettich, geriebener Yam, Lauchzwiebel, Nori-Algen, Wachtelei), Mozuku (Mozuku-Algen mit Essig, Yuzu-Zitrone) und gegrillte Makrele als Vorspeisen: Das Bakudan ist ungewöhnlich, sehr schmackhaft. Wir haben es aus Neugier bestellt, weil wir es nicht kannten und es lohnt sich. Das Mozuku ist auch sehr ungewöhnlich und schmeckt sehr frisch nach Yuzu, unbedingt probieren! Es schmeckt sehr viel besser, als es aussieht! Dann haben wir das Tokusen Kaisen Don genommen sowie Tokusen Kaisen Futo-Maki: beides ganz toll zubereitet. Der Fisch beim Don war unglaublich zart, sowohl der sehr gute Thunfisch wie auch der Lachs und die anderen Fischsorten. Das Futo-Maki war top zubereitet mit viel Liebe zum Detail. Als Dessert gab es mochi, diese waren Hausgemacht mir sehr guter Rotebohnenpaste, nicht zu süss. Wir werden wiederkommen, um andere Sachen zu probieren! Leider ist vor Ort eher kühl, es gibt aber für alle Gäste Fleecedecken, sehr nett. Der Service war überaus freundlich, hat echt Spass gemacht. Zum Essen gab es grünen Tee, weil es leider noch keinen Sake gibt (noch keine Lizenz für den Alkoholausschank), wir hoffen, das ändert sich noch.

• Ohne Frage ist das, was man hier auf den Teller bekommt, ganz große Kunst und schmeckt noch besser als es aussieht. Wenn man ein ausgiebiges Gespräch vor dem Essen zu schätzen weiß ist man hier richtig, denn die Wartezeit sehr üppig.

Fantastisches Sushi, gemütliches Lokal, gut erreichbar und sehr freundliches Personal. Die Öffnungszeiten auf Google sind leider nicht zuverlässig und können kurzfristig variieren, daher sollte man reservieren oder vorher anrufen, sonst kann es sein dass man vor verschlosser Türe steht.

Leckeres Essen und trotz Lage im Hauptbahnhof, ein lauschiges und ruhiges Ambiente.

Sehr sehr lecker gegessen. Nicht nur sehr lecker sondern mit Liebe zum Detail angerichtet. Erwartung übertroffen! Das i-Tüpfelchen: ich kam aus der Kälte und die Tasse für den grünen Tee war nicht nur hübsch sondern auch angewärmt! Fand ich super. So wird Tee trinken zum wahren Genuss.

Neues Lieblingsrestaurant in Freiburg!!

Das Essen war super, darum auch gesamt fünf Sterne. Für den Service gibt es einen Punkt Abzug, da sie uns zuerst vegetarisches statt veganes Sushi gebracht hat, aber sonst war sie super freundlich. Das Ambiente ist okay.

Bestes Sushi in Freiburg. Sushi Saya hat innerhalb von kurzer Zeit sich an die spitze der lokalen Sushi Szene befördert. Das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis ist sehr gut und die Qualität ebenfalls. Das Sushi ist authentisch wie in Japan (kein amerikanisches Sushi wie es in vielen weniger guten Sushi Bars Angebote wird ). Wenn man etwas besonderes probieren möchte, ist die Fusion Sushi Platte besonders zu empfehlen. Ich kann es nur wärmstens empfehlen, sowohl für dort zu essen als auch zum bestellen und abholen.

Das Essen ist sowas von lecker mehr kann man einfach nicht sagen hingehen und es selber ausprobieren man wird nicht enttäuscht

Die Onigiri Bento ist für 7,50€ ein Genuss! Absolute Empfehlung, 2 Onigiri nach Wahl, Beilagen wie Wakame und eine Misosuppe, liebevoll angerichtet und verpackt Wir waren wegen des Ramen-Tags hier. Wir hatten Shoyu Ramen, Tofu-Kimchi, Algen in Essig und Dorayaki, alles ausgesprochen lecker! Es gibt zwar bessere Ramen, es war für den Preis nichts besonderes, aber sie fangen ja gerade erst an Und die restliche Karte ist ausnahmslos zu empfehlen Das, Sushi ist obere Klasse, zu einem angemessenen Preis! Ebenso das Natto

Fehlt nur noch die Erlaubnis Sake auszuschenken dann ist alles perfekt!

Das Sushi wird sehr schön angerichtet, schmeckt frisch und super lecker. Der Service ist sehr zuvorkommend, freundlich und legt Wert auf Details. Vom Bahnhof spürt man im Restaurant nichts, schöne Beleuchtung und angenehme Hintergrundmusik. Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt und kommen gerne wieder ✨👌

Wir haben heute einen wirklich schönen Abend im Saya verbracht: Die Sashimi-Platte war toll, die Fusion Sushi überzeugten durch ein spannendes Spiel mit unterschiedlichen Texturen und die Nigiri zum Abschluss grandios, wirklich toll! Kleiner Kritikpunkt: Gerne hätten wir das auf der Karte aufgeführte Menü probiert, dies war aber (ohne Erklärung) nicht möglich. Vielleicht klappt das ja beim nächsten Mal! :) Vielen Dank,wir kommen wieder!

Besseres Sushi habe ich im Breisgau noch nicht gegessen. Sehr lecker. Drinnen angenehmes Ambiente mit dezenter Musik und einem super angenehmen Service. Kann ich nur empfehlen. Wir kommen gerne wieder.

The ICE refused to take us to Basel but brought us to Saya Sushi restaurant, it was sooo good!

This restaurant is located just next to the station. We asked for lunch boxes and ate them on the train. They were real Japanese food and awesome quality. The staff were so kind. We requested a special lunch box for pregnant one day before, and they prepared so nice one. When we drop in Freiburg next time, we would like to go again. お店は駅ナカにあり、帰路への電車の中での駅弁として購入しました。日本クオリティで、とても美味しかったです。前日お願いして妊婦用のリクエストも受付て下さり、とても親切でした。またフライブルグに立ち寄る際は利用したいです。

Best Sushi in Freiburg that I tried!

I visited Saya on their first ramen day in June, on which they did put out 100 bowls of shoyu ramen. No reservations possible on that day, no sushi. I loved how the ramen broth turned from clear at the surface to cloudy the deeper I looked. All the toppings were really enjoyable and rather delicate in taste. Nothing was too overpowering. And the noodles were just chewy, bouncy goodness that I hope that they will consider introducing 'kadema' (noodle top-up) during their next ramen days. The only thing I'd have loved a little differently was the egg, which lacked that signature waxiness. I am in love though and will try to come back again for one of their next ramen days to have more of this crafted goodness. Thank you so very much for a wonderful lunch.

Best sushi of my life and amazing service, a gem.

Zwar direkt am Bahnhof, dennoch eher am Rande und daher eine geringe Geräuschkulisse und somit ist alles sehr ruhig. Essen war ausgezeichnet und sehr freundlicher Service. Ansprechende Einrichtung und Atmosphäre und qualitativ Hochwertig.

War alles sehr lecker und es herrscht eine gute Atmosphäre. Der Chef ist auch sehr nett. Außerdem ist es sehr gemütlich dort!

Sehr gutes sushi. Ich hab schon dort gegessen und auch mitgenommen. Alles sehr liebevoll und frisch zubereitet. Mit den übrigens Sushibuden in Freiburg nicht Vergleich. Eine Finesse!
