I always enjoy going to Erster Liebe, especially for lunch. It's a pleasant place to sit under the chestnut trees in the summer, and the food is truly delicious. The service is also excellent.

5 stars for the tastefully curated menu, especially the vegan options. The dishes are lovingly prepared and of high quality. An extra star for the friendly staff; even the owner caters to all requests. :-) I'll definitely be back!!

Superb food and beautifully decorated. We were here for dinner a year ago and it was delicious. This time we were here for breakfast, which was simply fantastic. Very attentive and friendly staff. We highly recommend this restaurant.

The wheat beer was more bitter than it should have been. You can usually get excellent wheat beer in Freiburg, so I can't recommend this restaurant.

First Love - what a name for a restaurant - great! 💖 We were there this Thursday evening and were able to choose a table of our choice on the street side. The server came to our table immediately. But we wanted to study the drinks menu first. And as soon as we indicated her, she was back. We placed our order, and the drinks and food were promptly served as ordered and as expected. So: superb service, including paying. Tipping is fun. Everything was great. By the way, the restrooms in the basement were also top-notch. This is how first love can develop into a long-term relationship!

Large portions at reasonable prices. Everything was delicious. The staff was very friendly and attentive. Their taste in music wasn't... ours. You should be careful not to get a seat in a key spot, as there are a lot of staff moving around.

The café has two outdoor areas. On a beautiful, sunny Saturday morning, we enjoyed a delicious breakfast in the shade. We couldn't imagine a better way to start the day in beautiful Freiburg. Many thanks to the kitchen and the service.

A solid restaurant with Baden specialties, but nothing exceptional. The service is good and attentive. The outdoor seating is a bit dirty in places. The nicer outdoor seating is on the quieter back terrace. We had the Baden trio and the cheese spaetzle. The food was good, but nothing exceptional.

Great breakfast and also a great restaurant for a longer stay

Service was friendly and good, the atmosphere was cozy, but the price-performance ratio was rubbish. I paid almost €28 for a burger and an apple spritzer. The Birger was very dry and only tasted like goat cheese. The portion of fries was also very small. All in all, I would say it's more of a tourist trap...

I've eaten here several times and the food is totally fine. What is not okay is to sell bread with avocado if the avocado is completely unripe and hard and you even know and admit it. We brought it up very politely and the boss's behavior? was completely wrong.. "He didn't make the avocado"... and runs away. We were asked if we came here to cause stress... WOW. We were speechless. Only later did he come back and ask us if we wanted something else. Anyway. But that was the last time we came here for us. Unprofessional behavior. This goes explicitly to the boss and not to the employees. They were always friendly.

Unfortunately, it was pretty mixed...our avocado was rock hard, completely unripe, the roll was extremely small, but the rocket salad was really tasty! The “boss” (?) was super weird. Since I personally didn't find the atmosphere nice at all and it wasn't exactly cheap either, I definitely won't be coming back.

So people with all understanding for the catering industry and hard times. Your salads are a disgrace!!!!! 20 euros for a mini heap of leaf lettuce, 1/2 tomato, minimini heap of carrot salad without!!!! Dressing, mini coleslaw (maybe 3cm)!!!! and some chicken. That was it then. The salad with salmon was just as big for 24 euros. That doesn't work. This is really outrageous!!!! Think about whether you wanted to pay for such a small portion yourself. We won't come again.

My son ordered a waffle with cocoa yesterday afternoon. The waffle was very dark and not freshly prepared, dry, probably warmed up. A disappointment.

We were in Freiburg for three days and the first love relatively quickly became our favorite bar. Drink at a café at lunchtime and then eat in the evening. Casual and delicious. Also easy to reach on foot.

The biggest veal schnitzel I've ever seen. Mega. Unfortunately I didn't have it but a colleague did. Was jealous

The food was good and the location itself has potential. Unfortunately our visit was not entirely satisfactory. Despite a table reservation for two people, we ended up at an inconvenient table right at the back exit, which meant constant cold drafts and a lot of traffic to the toilet. It's impossible to offer a table like that. In addition, we were dismissed after only 30 minutes, the food came after 10 minutes, which gave the impression that it was not completely freshly prepared. It felt like the goal was to get us to pay and leave quickly to reoccupy the table. Very impersonal staff. Overall, for us, a completely overrated restaurant. We ate somewhere else nearby that was much tastier, more comfortable and, above all, cheaper.

Die erste Liebe is a good place for breakfast. The food is beautifully presented and tastes good. The same goes for lunch and dinner. The ambiance is pleasant, with outdoor seating in a traffic-calmed area. The food is more expensive than necessary, but perfectly reasonable by Freiburg standards. The service at Die erste Liebe is okay. You often notice that the staff isn't qualified, as small requests like a straw are often forgotten or take longer to respond. However, this doesn't change the fact that Die erste Liebe is, all in all, a well-rounded restaurant that we enjoy visiting every now and then when we're in the city center.

Accessible from two sides of the street. Huge selection of drinks (including non-alcoholic ones). Young, fast, and friendly service. At Breisacher Tor, you can enjoy a pleasant time at the tables in the sun with a view of the Bächle stream under budding trees.

Very loud, service friendly but not enough people, so they were overwhelmed. Gluten-free isn't consistently indicated on the menu; if we hadn't asked, our companion wouldn't have been with us. Portions were okay, average. Drinks were very expensive.

ATTENTION: Allergen identification is massively incorrect!! Gluten-free is supposedly possible, but it's better to ask twice or triple! The fries are NOT gluten free! I was first told by the waiter that they were gluten-free, but upon further inquiry I was told that nuggets were also made in the same deep fryer! So a massive gluten trap! Service was okay, forgotten at the beginning and didn't get any cards. Apart from the difficulty with gluten-free, the food was very tasty and in decent portions. Cocktails are also very good with a great selection.

I had dinner with my family today, May 16, 2025 at 12:30 p.m. We have been to you many times but we have never been as disappointed as today. We ordered pork schnitzel twice, a flamen cake and pork steak twice. So far everything was good. My mother asked if she could have an apple spritzer with spreit and unfortunately it wasn't what she had ordered. The two pork schnitzels were ok but dry and not seasoned properly. We weren't asked if we needed ketchup, we weren't even asked if everything was okay. Me and my father had the two pork loin steaks. Actually there was supposed to be Championram sauce there but it wasn't in the city of herb butter and horse marina sauce. We then asked if that was correct and whether we had to order a different sauce like it was on the menu. The waitress just said that it always comes with herbal butter and Rossmann sauce. Then we showed her what was on the card and told her something different. If we had known that we would have taken something else because we don't eat Rossmann. She went up there into the kitchen. She then apologized and left. The only thing that tasted good was the salad and the tarte flambée. It was the last time we ate with you and we won't be coming back now. Except we didn't get an apology, we are very disappointed 😤😠🥺.

I like to visit Erste Liebe for their delicious food, because there are unique alternatives, especially for breakfast I also like the atmosphere of the café and the friendly service, although it could be a bit more ambitious. After the first drink and food order, he tends to make himself scarce, so unfortunately we often had to sit dry and wait. If you're looking for a quiet place to eat, you've come to the wrong place. First love is quite loud. The noise level is constantly increasing as guests try to drown out the loud music. Sometimes it is a revelation to leave this café and enjoy the silence of the city noise. In the summer some tables are busy. So if you still want to sit inside, you shouldn't look for a spot along the wall. When you open the doors you are not exposed to a subtle draft All in all, a solid choice for breakfast and lunch in general.

Good address for a quality lunch. The current weekly menu is always on the website, so you can check in advance. Not cheap in price, but still good value for money.

I was there at the weekend, and I have to say, it's a restaurant and not a bar! The music was so loud, you couldn't even have a proper conversation. Then our drinks were empty and no one came to ask if we wanted anything else. The lady with the brown hair was very unfriendly!! The prices are way too high!! That was our last visit.

I come to this restaurant quite often with my friends or family. The atmosphere is always very pleasant, which makes the drinks or dishes even more enjoyable. It's perfect as a breakfast or brunch spot, a romantic spot for dinner with your partner or a fun weekend with friends or loved ones.

Service was okay, unfortunately we got the wrong sauce, and the toilet was relatively unclean. On the other hand, I found the changing table to be a disgrace; in German it was simply disgusting! It is completely dirty and wobbly, and the changing mat was also stained.

During my family's trip to Freiburg, and together with friends we met there, we chose this particular place to have our lunch. The food is not bad. But we had a very bad experience from the unacceptable behavior of the staff: When we ordered a dessert together with coffees, they brought the coffees and not the dessert, which, although we reminded it every little while (at least 3-4 reminders) did not come and they answered us vaguely that "it is being prepared". Even on one of the reminders, in which we asked them when they would bring it and informed them that we wanted to leave, we still got a vague answer ("preparing" or something like that) (When ordering the coffees, no information was given regarding a special wait for this dessert) When, and after at least three quarters had passed, we asked to cancel the dessert order as we wanted to leave, the waitress told us that the dessert would have to be paid for after it had been ordered. Then we protested that it is not possible to pay for a dessert that was not even brought to us. Then the waitress went to the kitchen and came back with another waitress (her boss?) who brought the dessert. We protested (and of course there was an incident in the store) and said that we thought it would be right for them to have accepted the cancellation since they were so late. But they persisted. In order not to continue we paid and left - without eating the dessert. Of course the above incident spoiled our mood for the rest of the day. I find this customer behavior unacceptable and insulting and will obviously never go to this store again

We ate very tasty ravioli in the dining room. Except when it's cold, you can also sit outside towards Holzmarkt or Gartenstrasse. Good location at the Holzmarkt tram stop near Bertoldsbrunnen. Modern, friendly design, friendly service.

I would just go there again and again. Were there both in the evening and for breakfast. The young team is just so dynamic and warm - you want service like this everywhere! I hope you get paid well :) - Food wise it's perfect - the cocktails are super tasty :) The next time we're in Freiburg, we'll definitely stop by again!

Delicious food. I can especially recommend the lunch menu. In my opinion, the prices of the dishes from the normal menu are a bit too high, but as I said: very tasty :) The staff could be a little more attentive (depending on the day?).

Very friendly service, but the food wasn't really impressive. The salmon was cooked rather than grilled and the risotto could have used 3-5 minutes more cooking, although it was nicely seasoned. The salad was good. Better smaller portions with better quality.

Very cute shop with pretty wallpaper :-) Didn't eat anything, just drank. It took an eternity or two before we got around to ordering something. Unfortunately, we also noticed how people at the next table argued that dessert wasn't included with the statement "yes, the place is full." We then ordered our drinks, received them and found them to be good. It's clear that a full hut means stress. Nevertheless, the gastronomy lives from the guests ;-)

Went there for dinner on Christmas Eve. The music was way too loud. It was difficult to have a conversation. The service was nice, but one drink was forgotten, then one too many was brought. The food was good and served quickly. For the price we had imagined larger quantities and a quieter atmosphere. At the neighboring table, four guests were already drunk beyond their thirst. It's a shame, we had imagined the evening to be more comfortable and quiet.

Dear people. We had dinner with you yesterday and were looking forward to a certain dish of the day. Unfortunately that happened a week ago. Today is Thursday, December 19th, 2024 and you still have the daily menu from last week online.

We entered the restaurant today around 2 p.m.! At around 2:35 p.m. we left WITHOUT getting paid. The waitress served at the table next door, sorry 0 points is not possible.

After 24 minutes of waiting we left. One condition worked, the other had to do with her cell phone.

Great restaurant and great atmosphere. We had the Romeo and Juliet brunch, which cost 37.90 (approx. 18 euros/person). The drinks were super good. The waitresses are friendly and the service is quick. I highly recommend people visiting or living in Freiburg to go there.

You are often simply forgotten outside as a customer, waiting times are very long and the toilets are disgusting, and the food in there is also abnormally bad.

The staff is very quick and courteous. The food comes quickly. The interior is attractive. Unfortunately, the food is mediocre: the terriyaki vegetables are just vegetables drowned in terriyaki sauce. The hamburgers are okay, but not amazing either. The risotto was more of a rice mush. At these prices I would have hoped for something better. It's a shame, because the people working there are all very motivated and nice.
