Nice atmosphere with warm and welcoming servers. The food is well-stocked and good.

We were here for dinner yesterday. We were lucky that there was still room for a larger group, and tables were put together. However, the service was very poor. Friendly, yes, and attentive. Presumably, it was a beginner, and of course, you have to learn a lot at first, but it all added up over the course of the evening, and at the end of it, we were left with a bad feeling. First, we were given a wheat beer instead of a light beer. After clarification, we were given the light beer, but as a 0.3 liter, even though it was only listed as a 0.5 liter on the menu. Promptly, prices were invented and made 0.10 cents more expensive. Instead of the goat cheese starter, we were given goat cheese with linguine and truffle. This, too, was changed with a note. People often asked again what they had ordered. Bottles were flying around. Chaos. The vegetarian Maultaschen were okay, but they came with vegetables. This consisted of 2-3 strips of zucchini and leek. You can declare that on the menu; it's not vegetables if you expect a variety of fresh, colorful vegetables. Overall, the food was okay, but not a masterpiece.

We got a table despite not having a reservation. The breakfast was delicious. The service was fast, friendly, and cheerful. It was a pleasure to eat here.

⭐☆☆☆☆ Significant hygiene deficiencies according to official inspection – inadequate cleanliness in work areas. A food inspection on July 4, 2025, identified significant deficiencies at the "Erste Liebe" facility in Freiburg. According to the report published on September 2, 2025, the kitchen area was heavily soiled. Residues of old food, inadequately cleaned equipment and work surfaces, and a lack of regular basic cleaning were found: "As part of an operational inspection, a sample of the frying oil used in the facility was taken and submitted to the CVUA Stuttgart for testing. A report dated April 8, 2025, found that the oil had undergone a serious adverse oxidative and thermal change in odor and taste, caused by excessive use and/or the application of excessively high temperatures. This sensory finding is supported by the high content of polymeric triglycerides also detected. The spoilage of the used frying oil was so severe that it became unacceptable for human consumption. The frying oil and the food prepared in it were deemed unsuitable for human consumption and therefore unsafe food within the meaning of Article 14 (2b) of Regulation (EC) No. 178/2002." These conditions are unacceptable for a catering establishment. Where food and beverages are prepared daily, cleanliness, hygiene, and pest control must be top priorities. The deficiencies identified indicate inadequate hygiene management. I hope the establishment has since consistently updated its cleaning practices and implemented permanent measures to ensure compliance with hygiene standards in the future. One star – due to documented hygiene deficiencies and a lack of cleaning discipline.

Overall, a visit to this restaurant deserves a satisfactory grade. It's a restaurant with quite good service, but the food itself isn't of a quality that impresses me. It's home-style, but they could improve on the quality in some aspects.

A good breakfast selection at reasonable prices. Service was practically nonexistent; I don't know if anyone even spoke to us when we arrived, ordered, or paid. Furthermore, nothing was cleared while we were there, even though the table was far too small for the tiered breakfast and all the drinks. As I said, the waitress was unfortunately preoccupied with something else. The restaurant has seating at the front and back, but we were seated in the shade on the quiet side facing the pedestrian zone. The waitress didn't mention that there would have been nice seats up front in the sun.

For the high prices, the food was a disappointment: While it tasted okay, it was clearly not fresh and overall not worth the money. Special requests for orders were ignored, and instead, the wrong thing was brought to the table. The staff was friendly, but stressed and overwhelmed. An absolute no-go was the presence of dead animals (a flies) in the coffee, which is an indication of unhygienic practices. A new one was brought, but without apology or compensation. Overall, very disappointing; the price, quality, and service simply don't match up.

Cool location, we were there for breakfast on Friday. A really nice welcome, great service. Always friendly, always welcoming, and very attentive. You don't find that often these days, so big praise. Breakfast was fantastic, and the location even more so. An absolute feel-good package that I highly recommend.

Definitely no fresh fish; only dry, poorly thawed, and overcooked fish. Many meat dishes were unfortunately overcooked... Not worth it! - Unfortunately, the regular menu never changes; the lunch menu is sometimes creative and fresher. That, too, is unfortunately declining in quality... The burgers used to be the best, and they still come with wilted arugula garnish.

I always enjoy going to Erster Liebe, especially for lunch. It's pleasant to sit under the chestnut trees in the summer, and the food is truly delicious. The service is also excellent.

We were lucky enough to sit outside, where the atmosphere was very pleasant and relaxed. Erste Liebe isn't just a great choice for starting the day – you can also enjoy excellent food here in the evening. The burgers not only looked good, but also tasted really fresh and homemade. The service was attentive, friendly, and relaxed – you immediately feel at home. A place with attention to detail, both in the food and the ambiance. In conclusion: A truly feel-good café in Freiburg that you should definitely try for both breakfast and dinner. We'd love to come back!

The wheat beer was more bitter than it should have been. You can usually get excellent wheat beer in Freiburg, so I can't recommend this restaurant.

First Love - what a name for a restaurant - great! 💖 We were there this Thursday evening and were able to choose a table of our choice on the street side. The server came to our table immediately. But we wanted to study the drinks menu first. And as soon as we indicated her, she was back. We placed our order, and the drinks and food were promptly served as ordered and as expected. So: superb service, including paying. Tipping is fun. Everything was great. By the way, the restrooms in the basement were also top-notch. This is how first love can develop into a long-term relationship!

Large portions at reasonable prices. Everything was delicious. The staff was very friendly and attentive. Their taste in music wasn't... ours. You should be careful not to get a seat in a key spot, as there are a lot of staff moving around.

A solid restaurant with Baden specialties, but nothing exceptional. The service is good and attentive. The outdoor seating is a bit dirty in places. The nicer outdoor seating is on the quieter back terrace. We had the Baden trio and the cheese spaetzle. The food was good, but nothing exceptional.

The café has two outdoor areas. On a beautiful, sunny Saturday morning, we enjoyed a delicious breakfast in the shade. We couldn't imagine a better way to start the day in beautiful Freiburg. Many thanks to the kitchen and the service.

Service was friendly and good, the atmosphere was cozy, but the price-performance ratio was rubbish. I paid almost €28 for a burger and an apple spritzer. The Birger was very dry and only tasted like goat cheese. The portion of fries was also very small. All in all, I would say it's more of a tourist trap...

I've eaten here several times and the food is totally fine. What is not okay is to sell bread with avocado if the avocado is completely unripe and hard and you even know and admit it. We brought it up very politely and the boss's behavior? was completely wrong.. "He didn't make the avocado"... and runs away. We were asked if we came here to cause stress... WOW. We were speechless. Only later did he come back and ask us if we wanted something else. Anyway. But that was the last time we came here for us. Unprofessional behavior. This goes explicitly to the boss and not to the employees. They were always friendly.

So people with all understanding for the catering industry and hard times. Your salads are a disgrace!!!!! 20 euros for a mini heap of leaf lettuce, 1/2 tomato, minimini heap of carrot salad without!!!! Dressing, mini coleslaw (maybe 3cm)!!!! and some chicken. That was it then. The salad with salmon was just as big for 24 euros. That doesn't work. This is really outrageous!!!! Think about whether you wanted to pay for such a small portion yourself. We won't come again.

Unfortunately, it was pretty mixed...our avocado was rock hard, completely unripe, the roll was extremely small, but the rocket salad was really tasty! The “boss” (?) was super weird. Since I personally didn't find the atmosphere nice at all and it wasn't exactly cheap either, I definitely won't be coming back.

My son ordered a waffle with cocoa yesterday afternoon. The waffle was very dark and not freshly prepared, dry, probably warmed up. A disappointment.

We were in Freiburg for three days and the first love relatively quickly became our favorite bar. Drink at a café at lunchtime and then eat in the evening. Casual and delicious. Also easy to reach on foot.

The food was good and the location itself has potential. Unfortunately our visit was not entirely satisfactory. Despite a table reservation for two people, we ended up at an inconvenient table right at the back exit, which meant constant cold drafts and a lot of traffic to the toilet. It's impossible to offer a table like that. In addition, we were dismissed after only 30 minutes, the food came after 10 minutes, which gave the impression that it was not completely freshly prepared. It felt like the goal was to get us to pay and leave quickly to reoccupy the table. Very impersonal staff. Overall, for us, a completely overrated restaurant. We ate somewhere else nearby that was much tastier, more comfortable and, above all, cheaper.

Die erste Liebe is a good place for breakfast. The food is beautifully presented and tastes good. The same goes for lunch and dinner. The ambiance is pleasant, with outdoor seating in a traffic-calmed area. The food is more expensive than necessary, but perfectly reasonable by Freiburg standards. The service at Die erste Liebe is okay. You often notice that the staff isn't qualified, as small requests like a straw are often forgotten or take longer to respond. However, this doesn't change the fact that Die erste Liebe is, all in all, a well-rounded restaurant that we enjoy visiting every now and then when we're in the city center.

Accessible from two sides of the street. Huge selection of drinks (including non-alcoholic ones). Young, fast, and friendly service. At Breisacher Tor, you can enjoy a pleasant time at the tables in the sun with a view of the Bächle stream under budding trees.

Very loud, service friendly but not enough people, so they were overwhelmed. Gluten-free isn't consistently indicated on the menu; if we hadn't asked, our companion wouldn't have been with us. Portions were okay, average. Drinks were very expensive.

ATTENTION: Allergen identification is massively incorrect!! Gluten-free is supposedly possible, but it's better to ask twice or triple! The fries are NOT gluten free! I was first told by the waiter that they were gluten-free, but upon further inquiry I was told that nuggets were also made in the same deep fryer! So a massive gluten trap! Service was okay, forgotten at the beginning and didn't get any cards. Apart from the difficulty with gluten-free, the food was very tasty and in decent portions. Cocktails are also very good with a great selection.

I had dinner with my family today, May 16, 2025 at 12:30 p.m. We have been to you many times but we have never been as disappointed as today. We ordered pork schnitzel twice, a flamen cake and pork steak twice. So far everything was good. My mother asked if she could have an apple spritzer with spreit and unfortunately it wasn't what she had ordered. The two pork schnitzels were ok but dry and not seasoned properly. We weren't asked if we needed ketchup, we weren't even asked if everything was okay. Me and my father had the two pork loin steaks. Actually there was supposed to be Championram sauce there but it wasn't in the city of herb butter and horse marina sauce. We then asked if that was correct and whether we had to order a different sauce like it was on the menu. The waitress just said that it always comes with herbal butter and Rossmann sauce. Then we showed her what was on the card and told her something different. If we had known that we would have taken something else because we don't eat Rossmann. She went up there into the kitchen. She then apologized and left. The only thing that tasted good was the salad and the tarte flambée. It was the last time we ate with you and we won't be coming back now. Except we didn't get an apology, we are very disappointed 😤😠🥺.

Not recommended. The ambience is quite nice, the food is of poor quality. Some of the fried potatoes were burnt, the portions were small, and the price was clearly excessive. Since my last visit the quality of the food has developed very negatively.

I like to visit Erste Liebe for their delicious food, because there are unique alternatives, especially for breakfast I also like the atmosphere of the café and the friendly service, although it could be a bit more ambitious. After the first drink and food order, he tends to make himself scarce, so unfortunately we often had to sit dry and wait. If you're looking for a quiet place to eat, you've come to the wrong place. First love is quite loud. The noise level is constantly increasing as guests try to drown out the loud music. Sometimes it is a revelation to leave this café and enjoy the silence of the city noise. In the summer some tables are busy. So if you still want to sit inside, you shouldn't look for a spot along the wall. When you open the doors you are not exposed to a subtle draft All in all, a solid choice for breakfast and lunch in general.

I was there at the weekend, and I have to say, it's a restaurant and not a bar! The music was so loud, you couldn't even have a proper conversation. Then our drinks were empty and no one came to ask if we wanted anything else. The lady with the brown hair was very unfriendly!! The prices are way too high!! That was our last visit.
