They were a bit pushy about dessert; we said we didn't want anything else, and yet they still slammed the dessert menu down on the table. The food quality was okay, and the portions were sufficient. The price/performance ratio was acceptable.

Excellent food in a pleasant atmosphere with very friendly staff. We eat at the Bären every year during our vacation. We've never been disappointed.

If I gave it zero stars, I would rate it zero stars. Unfortunately, I can only rate it one star. I ordered food. Schnitzel with croquettes and cream sauce to pick up. When I got home, I noticed they weren't croquettes, but fries with the sauce missing. When I called, surprised, the waitress said, "There's nothing we can do about it." I asked if they had a driver who could deliver the food to me. She said no, I don't recommend this place and advise everyone not to visit this restaurant. This isn't the first time.

A large selection of tasty, home-style dishes at reasonable prices. Very friendly and prompt service in a quite cozy restaurant. Highly recommended if you want to enjoy proper Baden cuisine.

I've been coming here for dinner for a few years now. I've never been disappointed. Everything tastes simply wonderful. Authentic Baden cuisine that tastes like homemade. Reasonable value for money. Always friendly and prompt service. There are so many terrible restaurants in France, and the Bären simply stands out. Please keep it that way. Thanks to the whole team. P.S. We stopped by during a vacation and had dinner here. The food was delicious (and plentiful!), both for the daily menu and the kids' menu. The beer was excellent. The atmosphere was quiet and pleasant. The staff were very friendly.

Very nice location, always worth a visit

First of all, the staff is super friendly, the food is truly delicious, and I love coming here and can highly recommend it. However, the portions seem to be shrinking a bit. What really annoys me (and not just here) is the price of 3.20 for a bottle of water. Bottled water is tap water!! Carbonated. I find the drink prices really outrageous. But I would like to emphasize again that it's probably like this everywhere these days.

I've been to the Bären several times when I lived near Freiburg. It's always a good place for delicious food at reasonable prices. Today I visited family and had lunch here. It's quick and delicious. Friendly service, too...what I don't like is that if you want to change your side order, you have to pay an extra €2. Nevertheless, I can recommend the restaurant.

I've been going to the Bären regularly for several years. Thanks to the daily and seasonal menus, the food is always varied, and the portions are generous. Excellent value for money! The staff is very friendly and accommodating. The interior is always beautifully decorated with the seasons, and the outdoor dining area is shady and cozy. My personal tip: the Baden Schlemmerpfännle (a traditional German dish) 😋.

Very good food. Unfortunately, the menu hasn't changed in a long time. We've been going here for many years, but unfortunately, the menu is still the same.

We discovered Gasthaus Bären through photos on Google and spontaneously decided to pay a visit. We received a very friendly welcome upon arrival. While we couldn't get a window seat – they had just been freshly set and all had reserved signs – we were free to choose between two other tables. The ambiance was pleasant overall, but we found the lighting in the restaurant a bit too dim. We ordered a veal sausage with potato salad and fried onions, as well as a beef and vegetable stew. The food was served promptly, tasted excellent, and the portions were very generous. We finished off our meal with dessert: a chocolate cake and apple strudel with vanilla ice cream. As always, the chocolate cake was my personal highlight – simply delicious! We paid only €40 for the entire menu, including drinks – a truly fair price-performance ratio. Conclusion: A great restaurant with friendly staff, fair prices, and above all: really delicious food. 👌 If you'd like, I can create an even shorter version or a Google-optimized version.

As everyone knows by now, cigarette smoke is very toxic and should not be exposed to all guests just because one person thinks they have to smoke at the dinner table, or do you see it differently?

Was there for the last time yesterday. Anyone who grumbles about tipping despite poor service hasn't understood the point. Good, home-style food, mostly really tasty! Unfortunately, the onion roast beef came out a bit flat, so it wasn't as rare as I would have liked. But there's nothing wrong with the spaetzle!

This was our second time here for spare ribs, and we were warmly welcomed again. The table was already set, which made you feel right at home. The service was very attentive and friendly, and the food was outstanding. We had a great time and will definitely be back very soon! This restaurant is an oasis in Freiburg-Landwasser. Super delicious food (including the best Brägele in Freiburg!), great service, you feel very comfortable and look forward to your next visit.

A nice location in itself and the service was nice, even though we arrived shortly before lunch break. Unfortunately my Cordon Bleu was spoiled - really bad. Of course the cook had already left and they couldn't bring me anything new (but I wouldn't have wanted to either). Instead, the starter salad and fries (both side dishes) were charged in full. It's lucky that I didn't feel like arguing. Actually, that's a no go. Absolutely cannot recommend this location.

We (2 adults and 1 dog) had reserved a table online, but arrived 30 minutes late as the table had been kept free - mega. The food: very tasty and good portions, at good prices. But the best thing was the boss and her staff - there are professionals at work here who know what guests value. And Frieda, our dog, was the secret star that evening. Thanks again. Visiting the Bären in Freiburg was a great experience! The food was very tasty throughout, the Flädlesuppe in particular is highly recommended – wonderfully aromatic and seasoned just right. The Allgäuer Pfännle was also a highlight, with tender meat and perfectly seasoned side dishes. The service was friendly, I'd love to come back!

We wanted to eat traditional Baden cuisine and were there for dinner. We ordered cheese spaetzle and sausage salad. There was also a salad whose egg dressing was really outstanding!! The cheese spaetzle pulled strings, as it should. ;) The sausage salad could have used more vinegar, but was otherwise super tasty. The portion sizes were great and therefore the price-performance ratio was also good. The ambience was quiet, almost too quiet for our taste. The service was very friendly. We can definitely go back!

We ordered via Uber Eats: a schnitzel with spaetzle and cream sauce + a salad. Schnitzel with fries and gravy arrived, the salad was completely missing. In addition, the schnitzels are super thick and fluffy. It's a shame, unfortunately there's nothing wrong with that.

We ate here based on a recommendation and had 2 starters and 2 main courses. We each received a salad in advance. Everything tasted world class! It's very comfortable to sit here. There were even treats for our dog and a bowl of fresh water. Very dog ​​friendly. However, we were irritated with our drinks. We each ordered a large Sprite and discovered that they had been diluted with water. We also tried each other's Sprite and there were differences in taste here too. What a shame! But the staff can't know that with us they are catching two professional soft drink connoisseurs who can immediately spot any deviation. The staff was very attentive at all times and we were even reminded that the kitchen was closing and asked if we would like to order a dessert beforehand. Really great! We'll come back and then just drink water, wine or beer. Then it's perfect.👌

Update 8/15/24 Super fast response from the owner and contact via email. Plausible apology and offer of a voucher in case of a second chance. Of course we like to do it after the holidays - as written: mistakes can and may happen. Therefore upgrade from 1 to 4 stars. We felt like we were on “hidden camera.” Ordered a light yeast - forgot about it for now. Then, after 15 minutes, a light beer (Tegernseer) arrived. Next came a Pilsner after another 5 minutes 😂 and after another 10 minutes finally the light yeast. The salads came in a timely manner and all 3 came together. My wife and son's main courses came while I had to wait forever for my turkey schnitzel. Then my family was almost finished eating when my supposed food arrived. Unfortunately it was pot roast - something completely different than what was ordered. I was asked if I wanted this food - of course I didn't like it. So keep waiting. My wife and son were now finished. I told the waitress that I didn't want my food anymore, but was kind enough to take it after all. After 2 hours had already passed, we wanted to pay quickly and leave. Again, even after asking twice, no one came. My wife then went to the counter and paid. When she came from the toilet, she said the table had been mixed up on the bill and an additional €26.30 had to be paid. So I also paid extra - despite everything, the restaurant could have avoided this bad rating - but there wasn't even a small attention - no espresso, no drink, no ice cream - just nothing. Mistakes can happen - but then I have to be able to apologize. We won't be coming back and can't recommend the restaurant, even if the quality of the food was decent.

We ate there on the Friday before the lake festival because we didn't want to spend a lot of money at the festival. A location that still pays attention to quality. Homemade spaetzle and fresh salad have unfortunately become a foreign concept for many people. Not at Bären, here it's fresh and portions are plentiful. Price in normal range even though it is fresh. We'd love to come back.

Food is pretty good and people are very friendly. It feels like more a place for people with more life experience but that also means it's a very cost place. Note though, if you want the ribs, order them in advance, we did not manage to get any unfortunately. Would come again though!

My visit to the Bären inn was very pleasant. The food was delicious and freshly prepared. We were particularly impressed by the fast and friendly service. The service staff was always attentive and made sure that we felt completely comfortable. The price-performance ratio was absolutely understandable. Even if the inn is not located directly in the city, it is easy to reach thanks to the good connection with the S-Bahn. The short journey is definitely worth it and offers the opportunity to escape the hustle and bustle of the city and dine in a cozy atmosphere.

So cozy, even warm meals for lunch on Saturdays. We received a very friendly welcome and service, everyone was completely satisfied, we would visit the bear again and again and recommend it to others.
