We had our Christmas party here and we were all thrilled. The restaurant is beautifully and comfortably furnished. The service and the owner are very friendly. The food was delicious and the portions were generous. I will definitely go back here again.

It was, as always, top-notch 🔝 service, exceptionally friendly! You can tell that the Vögele family loves and lives for the restaurant business ♥️ I always highly recommend it to friends and acquaintances, or even to visitors as holiday guests.

Excellent food, service and atmosphere

Since my honest review was unfortunately removed, I'm posting it again. Seems like someone can't handle criticism... This was my first and last visit here, based on a recommendation. The disappointment started with the order. I ordered a large beer, and the server asked me if it was a pilsner or their own brew. When I asked what their own brew was, she didn't know the answer and just said, "We make pilsner." After I'd finished my beer 40 minutes later, I dared to ask when the onion tart I'd ordered would arrive. "That'll take at least 45 minutes," she replied, explaining that since I'd ordered later, they were processing orders in order. I have no idea if they have to harvest the grain first or why they can't just put a ready-made onion tart on a plate. Meanwhile, my neighbor received her ordered large shandy, as listed on the menu. However, she got a small one, and when I asked about it, they said that's all they had. So the server doesn't even know what kind of beer they sell or what's on the menu. An hour has passed, and my neighbor, who clearly ordered after me, has received his food. So much for orderly service. I decided to leave and went to the bar to pay for my beer, but was ignored. The server came after two minutes and said my food was now at my table. So I went back to the table—but I couldn't eat because I didn't have any cutlery. So I went back to the bar again and asked the busy server for cutlery. She walked off, saying she'd bring it to me, so I just got it myself. The food tasted okay, but nothing special. I won't be coming back; waiting an hour for a piece of reheated onion tart is unacceptable. A small addendum to address the owner's response: Yes, I was part of a group that had made a reservation. That's precisely why you should be prepared for such a situation—that's why you make a reservation, right?! The fact that everyone in a group ordered something different is not a valid argument, especially since most of us (like me) ordered onion tart. I don't think it's fair to blame the situation on overwhelmed waitresses; everything went smoothly for others. They could have simply admitted their mistake and said, "Sorry, we forgot about you and your order." I don't know what's excessive about my review; I simply shared my experience, and it was negative. Contacting them personally will be difficult, as I generally avoid places where I don't feel comfortable...

We ate at the restaurant and it was delicious. The grilled vegetables were especially tasty! The service was also very friendly and attentive even when it got busier.

A cozy, modernly designed inn set in historic walls in the old part of St. Georgen. The food is grilled here, using wood from the vines, as we were told. A friendly welcome, relaxed atmosphere, good service, and the food was delicious! We've made another reservation and look forward to coming back... It has heated outdoor seating. It also seems to be well-frequented by locals, giving the impression of a great meeting place for locals. It was very nice to be here.

August 8, 2025 The food here is DELICIOUS. But this evening it was too busy, with only two waitresses and too many tables. The owner himself walked over but only snapped at the waitresses. No attention was paid to the guests. We were given dessert while our table was still full of empty dinner plates. Such a shame, take on fewer guests and give the ones who are there better service.

We went there for the first time today and were very disappointed. Despite having a reservation, we had to wait a long time: The drinks didn't arrive until 35 minutes later, and our food order wasn't even taken. When we asked, we were told the wait for the food was over an hour – by then it was already 7:45 p.m. Since we hadn't gotten anything to eat by then, we decided to just pay for the drinks and leave. It's a shame – the first impression was good, but the service and organization left a lot to be desired. As a result, four people went home hungry.

Food was good, service was okay, but the owner was arrogant. We tried to pay by card and were told, "Cash will be accepted immediately, but it will take 30 minutes to pay by card." After 30 minutes, we reached the counter and confronted the owner. He pointed out the missing tip and said we could also pay with a card. Thanks, other owners also take my money and treat their customers more respectfully.

Yes, I highly recommend it. A great place; a successful blend of ostrich-style (broom) inn and rustic-modern dining. The food is delicious! The staff is friendly, and the owner personally greets and bids farewells guests.

Quiet place, very friendly service. More guests arrive after 5 p.m. Make a reservation in advance on weekends. Very good food at reasonable prices. And served quickly! As always in Germany: If you greet strangers with a friendly "Servus," you get nothing and just stupid faces! I've traveled to 60 countries. No country is as unfriendly as Germany!

We spent a week in Freiburg, but we had the best, highest-quality food here. Absolutely recommend it.

We were on vacation in the area and stumbled upon the Wendlinger Schiere purely by chance – and what can we say: It was love at first bite! The food is simply phenomenal – prepared with so much dedication, quality, and refinement that you're truly at a loss for words. My dish should honestly have been called "Joy & Sorrow": joy with every single bite, because it was a true feast for the senses – and sorrow as soon as the plate was empty, because you wished it would never end. The service is cordial, warm, and incredibly attentive; you can feel the passion and genuine hospitality that goes into this place. You're not just served – you're cared for. There's a familial, honest atmosphere that's simply good for you. The atmosphere is a perfect blend of stylish comfort and authentic barn charm – perfect for relaxing and lingering. It was so wonderful that we returned the very next evening – and were once again completely thrilled. For us, the Wendlinger Schiere is an absolutely exceptional restaurant – a place you don't just visit, but experience. If there were more than five stars, they would more than deserve them!

We got a nice table without a reservation, under which the dog also had a quieter spot. I found the host to be very attentive. The food was delicious, plentiful and very nicely presented. wonderful location, great, fast team, delicious food often with a special kick (often complemented by grilled vegetables from the Rebholz grill) and even when the place is full, everyone stays in a good mood! Great wines and schnapps and a light, tasty craft beer - nothing to be desired. At most after twice as many seats.... ;-) (actually you shouldn't reveal it at all.... :-))

We had dinner at Schiere yesterday and were more than thrilled. The duck breast was excellently fried and a complete delight. What we particularly liked was the extremely friendly, family atmosphere. We felt “at home”. Also because of the delicious wine cocktails we won't be there for the last time. All around great service, great food and lots of warmth. The Wendlinger Schiere is a cozy place. The wines are good and solid - no huge surprises, our own wines, absolutely suitable for the food. And the food itself? Really very good and down to earth, without unnecessary frills. The service is very friendly, the atmosphere is relaxed. A nice place for a relaxing evening with good food and a bottle of wine. We'd love to come back!

Came across the place by chance. Unfortunately it was closed on Monday. We came back the next day and had an excellent meal. Reserved a table again for Saturday. Unfortunately I can't give a rating for the rooms as we only ate in the restaurant. I can only recommend this. It's always best to call and reserve a table, as the restaurant is very busy.

Super delicious food. Meat grilled on open grill on vine wood. The kitchen is visible and you can watch the grilling. The landlord and his staff are very nice and attentive. Always worth a visit!!!

It was a great evening at Wendlinger Schiere: very nice and courteous service and a good selection of dishes on the manageable menu. The Rebholz grill ensures a great aroma for the meat dishes. Minced meat storze and winemaker's steak were absolutely top. But also the Baden trifecta. Great atmosphere, although quite loud. But we were happy to accept that. Highly recommended.

So waren nun das dritte mal dort am 16.12.2023 zusammen waren wir 8 Personen (4 Paare). Von den 7 Personen noch nie hier wahren. Alle sehr zufrieden und kommen sehr gerne wieder. Für alles von uns allen 5 von 5 Sternen.
