We spent wonderful and relaxing days at the hotel. Despite its proximity to the city center, it is very quiet, especially at night.
The food (both breakfast and dinner) is very good, and the staff is very friendly and helpful.
The hotel is definitely worth the price.
It's getting a bit more expensive, but the Edessa Königsbrunn was known for being good, fast, and reliable...ordering always works...though I don't know what's been going on lately...today we both got diarrhea!! Unfortunately, the doner meat is no longer crispy, there's no sesame on the bread...the seasoning is also much worse than before. Overall, unfortunately, many dishes have become relatively tasteless...and then there are few!!...strange...the doner sandwich and ice cream were really amazing!! ...Even when you get there, you get the feeling that everything is somehow dirtier than before...
Unfortunately, in October 2025, I have to completely revise my once-good review – I've attached it below.
On October 3, 2025, we visited the Ödenturm again with two of our children. We were really looking forward to being guests here again after a two-year break and had made reservations for two evenings. We no longer felt welcome with children. There are no children's dishes on the menu anymore, and the looks from other guests when we entered the room with our children spoke volumes.
After well over an hour, we still hadn't had our food. Even my well-behaved children, who were used to fine dining, were starting to get impatient and hungry. It was now well past 7 p.m.
It was very crowded and apparently there weren't enough staff. That can happen. However, this could have been avoided – simply accepting fewer reservations.
A bread basket with a few spreads on the house (this is also offered on the menu, but it costs money... I personally know it as a "greeting from the kitchen" without charge) as an apology and to bridge the long wait would have worked wonders.
When the food finally arrived after almost an hour and a half, after complaining because we had an appointment at the observatory that evening, the portion of the char fillet I ordered (€27.50) – 1 fish fillet, 1 tomato, 8 small gnocchi, a tiny pumpkin wedge – was so tiny that, as a woman, I wasn't even remotely full. Nobody cared about that either, even though I had mentioned it. A shame, a real shame. We had the reservation for the following evening canceled on the spot (that would have been our last chance to make up for the ruined evening, but then we realized that the Ödenturm doesn't need that).
In general, it's a good thing that the Ödenturm offers sophisticated cuisine. But then you also have to deliver, keep the well-being of the guest in mind, and adjust if something goes wrong.
Since all opportunities to make up for the ruined evening have passed unused, all that remains is the negative review and the knowledge that we will probably never visit this inn again, where we had such a beautiful wedding and where we so often enjoyed being guests.

In the spring of 2017, we celebrated a very small, very special wedding here. That was our first time at the Ödenturm. Since then, we've been coming back every now and then whenever we find ourselves in the Bavarian Forest (several times a year...). For me, the Ödenturm is the epitome of hospitality and good food. A beautiful inn with very, very attentive staff, a fantastic selection of food of outstanding quality. We have never been disappointed and have always been 100% satisfied. It's a shame it's so far away from us, otherwise we'd come more often. We always feel welcome here, even with children. Tomorrow it's that time again, and we're all looking forward to it.
We had an excellent, delicious meal here today. The service was extremely friendly and attentive. The prices are perfectly reasonable. The atmosphere is homely, and the restaurant is very clean and comfortable. Highly recommended!
Absolutely positive impression of this Franconian inn/restaurant, from the reception to the entire service and the kitchen!
It was our first time here - but not the last!
All the seats in the dining room were taken on Sunday lunchtime - but the service was still absolutely attentive!
When placing my order, I only casually mentioned (with a wink) that I would probably have to share some of the porcini mushroom soup with my wife. When the soup was served, a second spoonful was also included!
There were several other touches that are standard here - but I certainly noticed them positively.
No particular wait times - everything goes hand in hand here - a high proportion of regular customers who are even addressed by name.
Well - what can I say - every euro you spend here is returned to the guests by the team with their hard work and passion for their job!
I wish this team continued success and all guests a lot of fun and bon appetit
The pizza here is amazing! The crust was perfectly fluffy, the sauce was flavorful, and the cheese was super fresh. The staff were friendly and the service was quick. Definitely my new favorite halal pizza spot!
I started with a delicious salad with a great dressing... finished with a juicy schnitzel in the style of Cordon Bleu with mountain cheese. The place is a bit out of the way, but the food is excellent. I was very satisfied.
Solid dudes in there and the shop looked clean but man I did not like my Dürüm. It had so much sauce that was just falling out in huge glops as I ate it. I couldn't finish it cause there was so much of that gross sauce. Not very high quality in the Dürüm department, unfortunately.
