Botanista Café Club in München

When I found this place, I thought, wow 🥰 my dream has come true, however… I had made a reservation beforehand, we walked in, and weren't even greeted by the staff (there were four of them behind the bar). I had to go up and ask myself, and we weren't seated immediately because we had to wait for another staff member (I'm not used to that with reservations). We ordered food, which arrived relatively quickly and tasted good, but it wasn't quite the "wow" moment I'd hoped for. During our visit, no staff member came back to ask if we needed or wanted anything. We would have liked to order more drinks, but we left it at that because I didn't want to chase after the service myself. To pay, I had to go up again and ask for a staff member to come (which took a while). I have to say, the concept is truly wonderful, but the execution, especially the service and the presentation of the food, could be improved in my opinion.

Please do not state on your website that you accept walk-in guests if this is not actually the case. After driving 20 minutes to the restaurant, we were told— in a very rude tone and without being offered any alternatives —that they could not serve us without a reservation. This is not a problem in itself, but it is misleading when it contradicts the information on your website.

An inviting atmosphere, with its light and airy ambiance, warm lighting, and friendly service, makes you feel right at home, both day and night. And the finest quality ingredients and a menu to suit every occasion (from a healthy breakfast to a indulgent dessert for emotionally challenging times) offer a wonderful escape when everyday life gets too hectic and chaotic. Reservations are essential for dinner!

We were a large group, and yet there was still a 90-minute time limit (I find time limits so uncomfortable—luckily, we were allowed to stay a few minutes longer, but then we went somewhere else). The place is generally very small and cramped, but that's probably normal for the Glockenbach district. I'm not a fan of the fact that the menu is only available online now—it makes the whole thing a bit confusing and just plain annoying when everyone's scrolling around on their phones. Furthermore, only accepting debit card payments is really cheeky, in my opinion. The selection was truly extensive. I didn't like the vegan cake, but my friends were generally happy with the food. Definitely a major negative point that really annoyed me: The menu constantly advertised BOTA here and BOTA there. Apparently, Bota refers to a regional and organic certification—because they don't have the official one. But when you ask where, for example, the BOTA eggs come from (if they use that term, I assume that either the owner has their own chickens for the café or they know a farmer personally from whom they source the eggs and know how the chickens are kept – after all, the BOTA bread is supposedly baked in-house) They ask politely, but then the answer is: The eggs are from HAMBERGER (wholesale)!!! That, to me, is blatant consumer deception and greenwashing!!!! They pretend to be vegan, sugar-free, etc., but then they don't care about animal suffering! Typical double standards. We certainly won't be coming back.

The atmosphere is really nice. The place is beautiful, it was full of people on a weekday at lunch time and it all looks great. Unfortunately we didn’t really like the food. We both ordered the Aussie brekkie and the bread was not that fresh and it wasn’t toasted, plus the avocado was more of an avocado paste instead and not really with interesting flavours so it was a bit disappointing. The coffee was also not my favorite but that’s just a taste thing I see others really like it.

Unfortunately, we were very disappointed. There were bones in my salmon bowl, the salmon was cold, and it wasn't very good. The food as a whole was rather average and nothing special. The service wasn't very friendly or attentive either. The price-performance ratio is completely off. The seating wasn't very comfortable or inviting either.

A charming, quirky café with a wide selection.

Almost all dishes are sugar-free, and only natural ingredients are used. Unfortunately, the portions are a bit small and expensive. We paid €50 for two main courses and two mimosas. Two small glasses of tap water are provided free of charge upon request. The staff is very friendly. In the summer, I would recommend sitting outside.

The price-performance ratio is unfortunately unbalanced. I had the Aussie Brekkie (avocado, tomato-arugula, fried egg) for €14 with an additional €6.50 for bresaola. The taste was okay, nothing groundbreaking. However, there wasn't much avocado – at most a quarter of one, completely mashed – and it was served on a single slice of untoasted bread. The bresaola was a good and necessary addition; without it, the Aussie Brekkie would have been very disappointing. For a base price of €14, you expect more. All the drinks were delicious.

The atmosphere was lovely, albeit crowded. Unfortunately, the food was a complete disappointment; it barely tasted of anything. The pistachio waffles tasted like cardboard, and the bread with the Pink Surfer was rock hard. The price/performance ratio simply wasn't right. A real shame!

The service today was an absolute disaster. The girls were unfriendly, slow, and when we asked for something because the coffee tasted watery, they just rolled their eyes. The food was good – we had the avocado toast with egg, what could go wrong with that?! However, the açaí bowl shouldn't really be called an açaí bowl, more like a berry bowl. If that had been stated on the menu, it would have been fine. The atmosphere is nice, the seating is comfortable, and the decor is lovely. We reserved a table for our stroller, but unfortunately, that didn't quite work out either. 🫣 Because of the unfriendly service and the watery coffee, I wouldn't go back.

We went here for dinner. Overall, it was okay, but we wouldn't definitely recommend it. The food didn't impress us (soda, chai latte, waffle, flatbread, chili sin carne bowl). The prices are very high relative to the quality. Perhaps this place is better suited for breakfast, brunch, or coffee and cake – otherwise, we can't quite understand the many positive reviews. We wouldn't recommend it for dinner. The service was good.

When it's not busy, this place can be really nice; the atmosphere would definitely get more stars. Unfortunately, it's often overcrowded on weekends, very loud, and you're packed in like sardines. The food is good, but for me, it's not worth the price – too expensive for what you get.

We had breakfast here today with my daughter. The café is lovely and the atmosphere pleasant. The food was fine. A negative point was that the dishes, both at our table and at the next table, had chips. This should be addressed, as it's not just a matter of appearance, but also a safety issue. The staff was very friendly, attentive, and helpful. The service seemed professional and welcoming. Overall, a nice café with good service, but more attention should be paid to the condition of the dishes.

We visited Botanista during our short trip to Munich. We had quite a big and complicated order with many things for takeaway. Our waitress, Bettina, handled everything perfectly and was very helpful and nice to us! The food quality was also amazing, and it was healthy! On top of that, we visited the place with our two small dogs and they were also welcome there :)

Too expensive for such small portion. I ordered breakfast fun bowl, ingredients were very basic (one egg on lots of rice, rest of the stuff was really little amount). It cost nearly 15 euros! My husband ordered egg with bread called "healthy". It cost approximately 16 euros!

Food was great, location was great. The waitstaff weren't exactly friendly, they barely managed a smile, rarely came to the table, and I had to ask them to clear the table… I haven't experienced such bad service in a long time. The place might be great, but I won't be going back for that reason alone.

Unfortunately, it's always full, but they do have a delicious coffee.

We came because of the impressive menu; it's a small, cozy café. The service was quick but curt and rather disinterested throughout our visit. The Pink Surfer waffle tasted great. The Greek scrambled eggs were also good. What was a bit more tiring than expected was the wooden swing; the concept is cool in theory, but not comfortable for sitting on for hours…

A rather pretty place, but definitely make a reservation; it gets packed on weekends. Unfortunately, none of the dishes impressed us. The acai and lassi bowls and the smoothies were very warm, which was a real shame. Everything looked very nicely presented, though. The service was very friendly and, despite the hustle and bustle, they were quick and efficient.

Singles aren't welcome here! I was here alone today and was told I had to reserve online or I wouldn't get a spot. Now I wanted to reserve online for tomorrow: it says you can only do so for two or more people. Conclusion: Singles are discriminated against!

We managed to get a table without a reservation on a busy Sunday morning. The staff was incredibly friendly, and despite the crowd, the atmosphere was calm and relaxed. Our chai latte and food were delicious, and they also sell lovely mugs and other items there.

The food was good; however, the customer service was disappointing. The staff had a poor attitude, didn’t provide a bany high chair when requested, and responded in an unfriendly manner. We didn’t feel comfortable during our visit and weren’t sure if it was because we were wearing scarves or because we had babies with us.

We are Americans and had a hard time finding a place that served mimosas in Munich. I’m so happy to find this café. We had good service and great food and the mimosas were so fresh and amazing. Our serve Lisa was lovely.

We were there as a group. Despite asking, the server took an hour to take our food order. The food itself was lukewarm, there wasn't enough of it, and it didn't taste good enough. We won't be coming back. The good reviews probably come from the nice decor, but I wouldn't recommend the food.

I visited this café today and received very attentive service. The young, friendly woman named Minh Ha provided excellent service and made me feel truly valued. She inquired about our well-being and was very attentive to our needs; she is an incredibly warm and lovely person. The café itself and its ambiance are already very welcoming, but with staff like Minh Ha, I'm even more eager to return. This young woman deserves recognition.

The café is very charming and stylishly decorated. At lunchtime and in the evening, it was almost completely full – and I was glad I had reserved a seat – so it was quite noisy during peak hours. But once lunchtime was over and it got quieter, it was really lovely and pleasantly peaceful. The background music wasn't too loud. They offer very healthy food and drinks (no cola, for example). Attention all cash lovers: they only accept card/mobile payments (no cash). And my Mexican bowl was delicious! Great, we'll definitely be back. PS: Our team of four worked together on our computers, and we weren't alone. There were also power outlets under the benches.

The coffee is fine, but not outstanding. They are good for a German cafe, but they could improve (soy milk, a lighter roast and I cannot order a cortado). The server was quite lovely and accomodating, despite my difficult order. The food is impressive in quality but quite expensive, with limited basic options (I would have loved some basic toast options). I ended up having banana bread, which was very dry and fluffy (more like a cake). More of a restaurant vibe than a cafe to me. Still a great option if you are looking for a weekend brunch and have euros to spend and want high-quality food. The service was a stand out - one of the nicer experiences I have had in Münich. Admittedly I have marked them hard here - mainly because I am an Aussie and they are going for an Aussie cafe vibe (I think), but not quite nailing it.

Great service and big selection of vegetarian, gluten free and sugar free dishes. Food was good but one needs to be aware of price point of roughly 25€ per person for one dish and a drink. Reservations (more than a week in advance for a weekend) is recommended.

The place definitely has the look—beautiful decor, both inside and out. Rustic walls, hanging lights, greenery everywhere… it’s charming, cozy, and made for Instagram. The outdoor seating is especially cute under the leafy canopy, and everything is plated like a mini work of art. But unfortunately, that’s where the positives end for me. The food looked amazing, but had almost no flavor. My mimosa was probably the worst I’ve ever had. We had to ask three times to clean the table they offered us before someone finally came over. The wait for food was long, which I can understand on a Sunday brunch, but the overall service was inattentive and a bit chaotic. If you’re going just for the aesthetic, it might be worth a visit. But if you’re actually hungry or looking for a good brunch experience, I’d say keep walking. Side note: I was surprised to see that my original review was removed after being flagged as “defamatory.” It took me almost a month to have it reinstated. I find it worrying that some honest, less-positive reviews may not stay visible as easily as glowing ones. I hope Google continues to protect real customer experiences — both good and bad — so people can make truly informed choices.

From arrival to departure, I felt truly well taken care of. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. I was there alone for dinner and thoroughly enjoyed the relaxed and cozy atmosphere. The pumpkin flatbread not only filled me up but also made me very happy. I'm planning a visit for breakfast soon, and I'm sure it will be at least as good.

Had a nice oat vanilla matcha and apple cake (vg). There’s vegan options on the menu including protein shakes and cakes. It can get quite busy at night so reservations are recommended. They forgot to bring half of the order and then it took forever to get their attention, the staff were just all very busy as the place was full.

came here because good reviews. cozy café but the food and service is just not it. other staffs were nice but the one the served me was not that friendly. i felt unwelcome. i ordered smoothie but still came with ice cubes, spilled dirty glass and didnt look so presentable. (i saw a table next to me order the same one so i know it was totally different from mine) later i asked for a glass of tap water. the water wasn't clean. there were a little black thingy in my water. it was noticeable. just to be clear, i'm asian so it might have something to do with the service :) i read 1 star reviews on here and people that is not from germany some also get treated poorly. i still tip 10% but just need to write a review because i'm quite disappointed.

I don't usually write reviews, but in this case, I feel compelled to. Unfortunately, my visit to this café was by far the most disappointing brunch I've experienced in Munich. One of the servers was remarkably unfriendly to guests without reservations. We witnessed her speaking to other guests inappropriately on several occasions. I'm only giving it two stars because the other staff members were friendly and tried their best. Perhaps it would be beneficial for the staff to reflect internally on their standards for customer service and how these standards are upheld. The food and coffee were also not up to expectations.

The acai bowl was unfortunately terrible. Paying €13 for runny mush with a few berries and a bit of granola is really outrageous. What a shame!

A truly great cafe. I think the decor is really beautiful; the ambiance is simply something different and exudes a special atmosphere. The food was excellent, fresh, and really very good. It's just a little noisy, but overall, highly recommended.

Service was total crap. Waited at “wait here” sign for 15 minutes. Hostess wasn’t particularly friendly. Several people went and just sat down in front of us and the people waiting behind us. We then waited over 10 minutes after being seated for the server to take our order AFTER two other parties that had just sat down. People that sat after us were finished eating before we even got our food. Food finally came and was completely cold. The porridge tasted good, but would’ve been better if it had been warm. Server was nice, but obviously needed more help around her. Ate outside on a somewhat busy Sunday; maybe inside is better, but we won’t be coming back to find out.

A very cozy and friendly café. The food was very good and lovingly prepared. Coffee, smoothies, mixed drinks – everything was very good. Above all, the service and the very friendly staff deserve special mention! It doesn't hurt to make a reservation in advance!
