Today, on the recommendation of friends, we ordered from Omar's for the first time (takeout due to COVID-19). We are absolutely thrilled! The dishes are prepared to a high standard, are authentic, and very deliciously seasoned – like an experienced Afghan grandmother would make :) The lamb was truly tender and well-cooked, perfectly paired with saffron rice, orange peel, and pistachios. My boyfriend is a fan of the Ashak dumplings, and I'm now a fan of Bolani dumplings. I will definitely order them again next time. The owner is very friendly. He gave us good advice and gave us a salad and dessert on top. Great food! A great addition to Augsburg.
Addendum: I originally gave it 5 stars. Unfortunately, I later discovered that the prices were higher than stated on the menu. Each dish was simply rounded up. This shouldn't happen, so unfortunately, it's deducting two stars. (We also tipped.)
We went there for the all-you-can-eat tapas, but unfortunately, it was very disappointing. None of the tapas were particularly tasty – most were lacking salt and spices, and often arrived only lukewarm.
The ambiance at John Farmer's is rather dated – a matter of taste, but not my personal favorite.
The service is adequate, although it usually takes quite a while for the food to arrive. On the plus side, there's parking right in the back.
The food, however, is all the more delicious: the meat is very tasty, and the side dishes are also excellent.
Overall, John Farmer's clearly scores points for the quality of its food.
O sole mio is currently the best Italian restaurant in Augsburg and the surrounding area. The pizzas are unparalleled. The service is friendly and fast. Anyone who finds fault here will find something to complain about anywhere.
Unfortunately I can't rate the food or ambience because I called more than an hour after I ordered the food and asked about its whereabouts and then found out that my delivery had probably been canceled by the pizza boys. Curiously, the notification of the cancellation came immediately after I called.
I think it's a complete impudence to make someone wait for over an hour, call them on their own and then find out that they don't get anything to eat!
The food was okay. The wait was long. Although we ordered three dishes, two people had already finished before the last one received their food. The server was rude; despite my request to check the order, she ignored me.
Overall, she was neither friendly nor attentive. Friendly service is important to me, but it was completely lacking here.
I bought three doner kebabs today, full of anticipation and excitement. The quality has gone downhill so much. The bread was barely in the oven and was too doughy. The meat was very sparse compared to other doner kebabs in Augsburg. I asked for a lot of sauce and received a dry doner. You can get better and bigger doner kebabs in Augsburg for €8.50.
