Mein Mann und ich waren anlässlich seines Geburtages heute dort Essen.. Man bekam gleich nen Platz und wurde kurz darauf bedient. Due Soeisen und Getränke kamen zügig und warm. Und due Portionen waren super und ausreichendund sehr lecker. Auch die Kosten waren super und in einem tollen Preis Leistungsverhältnis. Wir kommen gerne wieder und werden es weiter empfehlen.

Fleisch zu trocken Rumpsteak war zu roh

Das Essen war hier sehr lecker. Wir hatten Schnittel gegessen mit Salat und Pommes. Leider war es sehr sehr viel, weswegen wir es nicht aufessen konnten. Der Service ist sehr nett, kümmert sich jedoch nicht wirklich um die Gäste. Das Ambiente war für uns nicht störend. Wir konnten uns gut verstehen, wenn wir uns unterhalten haben

Wir hatten einen wunderbaren Abend in diesem Restaurant in der Friedberger Straße. Die Atmosphäre ist durch die klassisch rot-weiß karierten Tischdecken sehr einladend und gemütlich. Das Essen war hervorragend und kam zügig an den Tisch. Besonders die knusprigen Süßkartoffelpommes zum Steak haben mich überzeugt. Alles war frisch zubereitet und schmackhaft. Wir haben uns rundum wohlgefühlt und kommen sehr gerne wieder. Ein toller Ort für einen entspannten Besuch mit wirklich gutem Essen.

Das Essen war in Ordnung, der Service eher mäßig. Es war ziemlich viel los, aber wir haben über eine Stunde auf unser Essen warten müssen. Die Plätze draußen liegen direkt an einer größeren Straße, daher war es relativ laut.

Schönes, rustikal gehaltenes Steakhaus mit solidem Speisen-/Getränkeangebot. Man sollte reservieren. Vom Haus gibt es nach der Bestellung ein Honigbrot mit Butter. Uns hat es bisher immer gut geschmeckt. Auch wenn in den letzten Jahren alles etwas teurer geworden ist, kommen wir immer wieder gerne. Besonderheit: "Hollywoodfotos" zieren die Wände - viel Spaß beim Rätseln, wer abgebildet sein könnte bzw. welcher Film das wohl war?

Waren 8 Personen und alle zufrieden. Kann man jederzeit wieder besuchen

Das Essen war sehr gut die Spare Rips waren super aber der Bürger muss leider noch etwas bearbeitet werden dieser ist leider etwas zu trocken er braucht mehr Pep und Soßen dann ist er perfekt.

Der Service sehr freundlich und flott, Ambiente auch gemütlich, unsre Steaks waren lecker, wir fanden alle Soßen und die Sour cream und die Salatsauce irgendwie so süß - es war nicht schlecht aber einfach zu süß. Das Honigbrot ist toll, das Salatblatt am Rand als Deko muss nicht mehr sein.

Mitarbeiter sind sehr freundlich und das Essen war/ist immer gut! Auf Sonderwünsche werden eingegangen. Die Kastanienbäume spenden reichlich Schatten im Sommer. Man hat im Außenbereich etwas Geräuschkulisse, da die Friedberger Straße angrenzt, aber als Stadtmensch völlig in Ordnung. Einen Außblick gibt es zwar nicht, aber nach dem Essen kann man am Lech flanieren.

Top Essen wirklich zum richtig fairen Preis, Ware öfters da und unterschiedliches bestellt immer lecker. Das Honigbrot was man eig immer so bekommt sensationell gerade wenn es frisch rauskommt und noch heiß ist. Zwiebelrostbraten sehr zu empfehlen!!

Tolles Honigbrot und die Garnelen zur Vorspeise sind fantastisch.

Tisch online reserviert, leider kann man nicht angeben ob man einen Hund dabei hat. War dann kein Problem, als er dabei war. Anfangs hatte der Service Angst, aber mein Hund ist sobald man am Tisch ist unsichtbar

Das Ambiente bei John Farmer ist eher alt gehalten – Geschmackssache, für mich persönlich nicht unbedingt das Schönste. Der Service ist in Ordnung, allerdings dauert es meist recht lange, bis das Essen serviert wird. Positiv sind die Parkplatzmöglichkeiten direkt im Hinterhof. Das Essen schmeckt dafür umso besser: Das Fleisch ist sehr lecker und auch die Beilagen überzeugen. Insgesamt punktet John Farmer klar mit der Qualität des Essens.

Always very satisfied, the price/performance ratio is good and the staff is very friendly.

Unlike previous visits, I was not satisfied this time. I ordered a 250g rump steak with a baked potato, which was on special offer that day for €22.90. It was supposed to be cooked medium, but it was almost raw. After complaining, it was put back on the grill and was then cooked medium. However, the meat was of very poor quality. About a third of it consisted almost entirely of gristle and was inedible. This should not happen in a steakhouse. The friendly server I complained to apologized, but unfortunately offered no compensation, such as a complimentary drink. Probably my last visit to J.F.

Cafe de Paris butter was a good idea, it tasted good.

Hello everyone, It is with a heavy heart that I must share that John Farmer's has declined in quality overall. John Farmer used to be one of our favorite restaurants! Yesterday, we reserved a table for four, and the owner showed us to a seat with almost no light. If I were the customer and the tables weren't occupied or marked as reserved, I would have appreciated being asked where we would like to sit. Next, we ordered four Salisbury steaks, all of which were bloody. We sent two plates back, and the other two had bloody meat in the middle and overcooked edges, so my son and his wife felt uncomfortable sending them back. Besides that, the meat was like pre-packaged meat from a supermarket and much smaller than before. They used to serve decent-sized portions of meat; now, the plates are covered in fries to make them look bigger. Another thing is, if my son and his wife had sat at a different table, they would have been served honey bread as well. When we were sitting together, we noticed that they were skimping on the honey bread. (See example below.) *4 people - 1 loaf - 1 table. *2 people - 1 loaf - 1 table Besides that, the bread was like it had been microwaved and was completely soggy. I'm glad we at least ordered a salad, which filled me up. I hope John Farmer reads this review and improves his service. As mentioned above, we enjoy going to this restaurant. We received a recommendation and weren't disappointed. A wide selection of different dishes and sauces. There could have been a bit more salad on the plate. Excellent service and great handling of children. A high chair and crayons with a coloring book were brought to us immediately.

A really good restaurant for steaks and spare ribs. Our dog 🐶 is also very welcome and always gets a bowl of water.

An old pub, I used to work next door in the visually impaired girls' home 45 years ago, and since then it's been a local where the boss is still there himself, keeping an eye out in the background. The restaurant manager knows all the regulars, knows how and where they want to sit and when. The burger with baked potato is simply delicious, it's not on the menu, but for 1 euro your every wish is fulfilled. ALWAYS clean, even during the Corona period, the beer garden is shady in summer, there's a big car park and it's very good for larger groups 👍 because it's child-friendly and the FRIES 🍟 are top class.

We were very disappointed. The mushrooms in cream sauce weren't sautéed and tasted watery, like they came from a can. The garlic baguette was soft, not crispy. The baked potato was okay, but the sour cream tasted artificial and was inedible for us. Overall, everything seemed very industrial; freshness and skillful preparation were lacking. This is not a restaurant we would recommend or visit again.

The food was okay. The sauce on the steak took some getting used to. Otherwise, it tasted good. The service was quick for our large group. The atmosphere was nice.

A cozy restaurant to linger over a delicious meal! From salads and soups to meat dishes, there's something for everyone on the menu! The service is very friendly and they accommodate special requests whenever possible! I really have nothing to complain about at this restaurant! I always enjoy coming back! :))

A very good restaurant! We both had soup to start (onion soup/ox broth), which arrived very quickly, along with wonderfully fresh honey bread (to be enjoyed while it's still warm). The steak was ordered English and cooked to perfection. The sides (garlic baguette, baked potato, and sour cream) were very well-balanced, both in terms of flavor and quantity. We spontaneously ordered apple cobbler for dessert, which was also very good. All in all, a very delicious evening in a cozy atmosphere with attentive service. We would gladly come back.

Super Steaks und Salate. Schöner Biergarten. Leider an der Hauptstraße.

This was my second trip here! The portions here are humongous and delicious. For the level of quality and size the price is not too high, but on average you are going to spend at least €17-28 per person. They do have a parking lot, but it was packed full. I made reservations about 45 minutes before my arrival and was greeted warmly.

I was a bit disappointed and also surprised, as a 4.6 is actually quite a good rating. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case on our visit... Let's start with the bread and butter: Serving a dark, squeaky brioche with cold butter wrapped in it could be a waste of time. Think about a good sourdough bread with your herb butter! The side salad was the most unloving thing I've seen in a long time, and it was also overflowing with dressing. Cut everything a little finer and reduce the dressing to 10% of its current amount. The fries weren't particularly good, considering they're everywhere. Reduce the quantity and fry more carefully. The waiters were busy, but we didn't ask if we were enjoying the food or if we wanted something to drink. The meat (rump steak, ribs, and schnitzel) was excellent. Medium was more like medium rare. A bit more attention was needed there, too. Overall, it's solid, but with a little more attention to detail, the store could be top-notch.

Great steakhouse. The meat was cooked to perfection, just as ordered. Service was also excellent.

Great location, whether inside or outside in the beer garden. Service is almost always very good, and so is the food. Steaks have always been as requested, and so have the salads. What could be improved a bit would be crispy French fries, and the fliegelmüller could be a bit less greasy.

So we arrived and the staff was immediately super friendly. Our server took great care of us from start to finish. We got a homemade honey bread as a small appetizer, which I thought was fantastic! The drinks arrived relatively quickly after ordering, as did the appetizer. After the appetizer, we ordered the house dish, and it also arrived in a timely manner without a long wait. I think this is our favorite place from now on!!! You have to go there if you're in the area and eat there. It's worth it. Oh, another important point: the dishes are quite large. So you won't leave starving.

Excellent steak restaurant. The quality of the meat and side dishes was always impeccable, and the price was reasonable. The parking lot is gravel and a bit difficult, but large enough.

There are now several other, better places to eat steak in Augsburg. It's a shame.

I can't confirm the negative reviews of the past few weeks. I opted for the John Farmer Steak (medium). The steak was super delicious, perfectly cooked, and the sauce was delicious as well. The service was impeccable. They always attentively asked if we needed anything or if we wanted another drink. Ketchup, mayo, and barbecue sauce are also served free with the dishes; elsewhere you have to pay extra for these.

Food was ok but the menu was a lil misleading: steak for me is a meatcut rather than minced meat. There was a stake type with mushrooms from menu we ordered turned out to be minced meat patty. Good atmosphere and friendly service.

After a year, I have to downgrade the rating. A lot has happened at John Farmer, and things have changed for the worse. The new manager (24/25) always looks stressed, never smiles, and seems overwhelmed. Last time we had a reservation, we waited an hour for our food. The toilets were blocked, paper towel dispensers empty, and only one paper towel was provided. The meat was still bloody despite requesting it to be cooked thoroughly. The waitresses were not very enthusiastic, and we had to order extras like sauces ourselves. Overall, we were totally disappointed this time. Sure, there were a lot of guests, but when I know it's a holiday, I have to expect and plan accordingly. I hope the situation improves.

I've had better steaks and the like. Still, I recommend it.

The atmosphere and service are great, but the food itself...very bad...My burger was incredibly primitive and tasted like a supermarket burger. It was just a bun, meat, and cheese. The lettuce, tomato, and onion were on the side. Perhaps I should stack the burger myself? Besides, all my colleagues noticed that everyone felt bad after eating (none of us could finish our own portions). We suspect the oil from the fries was too old. So, I can't recommend it.

It's a shame, really. The steak was buried in a dill and mint sauce, which completely obliterated the meat flavor. The salt was poor. Leaf salad, three slices of cucumber, and one slice of tomato. The service was nice, but we were ignored for the first 10 minutes. The beer garden is right on the main street and very noisy.

I used to eat there quite often. I haven't been for about three or four years. I was disappointed because, in my opinion, the quality of the food has declined considerably.

For many, many years, this has been a great place to eat fine steaks in Augsburg. Great ambiance (when I was younger, it was a Vienna Woods), super friendly and fast service, and excellent food. Reservations are a good idea, as many people like the restaurant.

I've been here several times now – and every single time I've been absolutely thrilled! If I could, I'd give it even more stars. Everything is just perfect here: The meat is of the highest quality, grilled to perfection, and practically melts in your mouth. The service? Incredibly friendly, attentive, and professional – you immediately feel welcome and well looked after. I'm 100% satisfied every time – it couldn't be better. For me, it's quite clear: the best steakhouse in all of Augsburg. If you love meat, you'll definitely get your money's worth here. I keep coming back – and can highly recommend it to everyone! ❤️

A true gem in Friedberg! I recently visited John Farmer Restaurant & Bar it was very nice not only by the food but also by the charm and history of the place. The steak I ordered was cooked perfectly—tender, juicy, and full of flavor. The honey bread and baked potato on the side were also fantastic. The restaurant is located in a beautiful neo-baroque building from 1901, which adds a lot of character to the dining experience. They also have a lovely beer garden with chestnut trees, perfect for summer evenings. It’s a great mix of American steakhouse vibes with Bavarian warmth. From what I found, John Farmer has been a part of the local dining scene since at least 2015, and it shows—they’ve really mastered their craft. The atmosphere is cozy and rustic, the staff was friendly, and even when it got a bit busy, the quality stayed top-notch. Highly recommend if you’re in the Friedberg or Augsburg area and love a good steak with a unique setting. I’ll definitely be coming back

Unfortunately, it wasn't a convincing visit. The burger was dry, lacking in sauce, and simply disappointing in taste – you actually get more flavor at McDonald's. Even though the restaurant was only moderately busy and there were two servers on duty, it took forever for someone to come back to our table. The service was friendly, but the flow seemed disorganized. It's a shame, as there could have been much more.

Unfortunately, the dining experience was anything but satisfactory. I ordered a medium steak – pink and juicy, as it should be. However, I was served a piece of meat that was completely cooked. When I asked the server about it, I was assured it was "medium." This surprised me, so I asked the chef himself to take a look at the steak. At first, he also thought it was well done – until I told him I had ordered medium. Suddenly, he changed his mind and then said, "It was already medium and would look like that." No honest admission, no real accommodation – instead, excuses. After a brief discussion, I simply ate the steak out of frustration. But that's exactly the point: I wanted to eat a good steak, not argue. And in a steakhouse, that's what you want. Conclusion: Nice location, but anyone who values ​​a steak cooked to their liking and expects honest service will be disappointed. I wouldn't go back and can't recommend the place.

Culinary failure Just under €30 per person (almost €120 for four!) for a mini steak, drowned in sauce – presumably to disguise the tough meat. The side salad? A sad sponge in its own water. The boss reacts to criticism not with understanding, but with arrogance. If you like to pay a lot, eat poorly and be laughed at at the same time, this is the right place for you. For us definitely: never again!

I was really excited about the selection (also for me as a vegan eater). It was tasty and fresh and the staff is friendly and attentive and very helpful (my companion wasn't feeling well and she got a coke on the house for circulation). Definitely worth it!

We ended our lovely weekend in Augsburg with an unexpected, delicious final dinner here. We were lucky with the weather and were able to sit outside in March. Highly recommended! I had a 250 gr. sirloin steak with country potatoes (potato wedges with peel) and sour cream dip. The steak was exactly medium rare, just the way I like it. The meat was of very good quality, with a very good herb cream. The potato wedges were nice and crispy and super tasty. The sour cream is a poem. My wife had a pork loin steak with herb cream with corn on the cob and pepper cream sauce. Here too, the meat was great, soft and juicy. The pepper cream sauce is a little different and very aromatic - really tasty. The service was friendly and attentive. We also liked the ambience. For the quality and good taste, the price-performance ratio is perfect.

The food was actually delicious which I didn't expect, I was outside for a moment and told my friend to watch my food so I can continue eating afterwards. Even though my friend mentioned this to the employee, my entire plate was cleaned up even though it was still full. I was very sad about it and still I paid the full price!!!! Bad service.

We recently ate at John's and the food was okay, but when my friend wasn't at her table for a moment, her plate was simply cleared away without her finishing it, even though I made it clear to the waitress that she would continue eating.

Overpriced. The steaks are ok but covered in burned herbs. The French onion soup has nothing in common with the actual dish. Salads and side dishes are of low quality and made from cheap ingredients and lack any raffinesse.
