I used to come here regularly and was always very impressed with the price, performance and quantity. Today, however, very disappointed. You pay a huge sum for a handful of fries and a small steak. We even had to order more fries because otherwise we wouldn't have been full as two girls. The restaurant is empty, the service is moderately friendly. For a salad from the buffet (it almost looked dried out) you now pay €14. (Formerly €6.90) All in all, disproportionately expensive. Steak and fries are delicious, but for €50 per person I eat everywhere and get a much larger portion, a friendlier atmosphere and attentive service.

I ordered food today and what I got was a disgrace. Sparibis were not cooked through, bread was lukewarm with a little herb butter on it and 7 croquettes in number. When picking up, first information, they wait, there is a lot going on right now. The food was already ready and was on the counter. After waiting 5 minutes, I was allowed to pay and then the food was packed.

Great service and perfect steak on New Year's Eve. Service is quick and always smiling, super hardworking and attentive. Despite the stress of New Year's Eve and the change of tables, we were warmly welcomed by our colleague and the short waiting time was sweetened with a mulled wine. Very hospitable. The RibEye was perfectly fried, juicy and a dream. Only the garlic baguette could have been toasted crispier, but that's just my opinion and everything was well prepared. A very successful evening!

Awesome restaurant. I've been going there off and on for years. Food is a 10/10. Always my pleasure.

First of all, I would like to praise our service very much. A very nice friendly young lady. Now for the drawback: Our cutlery (forks) was dirty, old and cheap, the table had something sticky on it 🤷‍♀️. The food (rump steak, wedges, baguette and pepper sauce) was good, but carelessly prepared and the baguette was soggy and tasteless. The food was generally not really warm. The dip for the wedges was slapped in the middle of the potato wedges (I personally don't like that). My personal opinion: I don't necessarily have to go back there. Price/performance leaves a lot to be desired.

Enjoyed an excellent visit, will visit Benton more often from now on!

At the company Christmas party, you are simply turned away from your seat without any prior information and, so to speak, thrown out of the place. This is what happened to us 😡😡. An absolute no go, I will not personally go to this place again, let alone plan and book a larger event there again.

I don't eat much meat but when I do eat meat it's only good quality and I wasn't disappointed. High quality and super tasty. The dessert “in my case mousse au chocolat” was also delicious. Service was very friendly and we were lucky enough to get to know a boss who runs his restaurant with love. We would love to come back 👍

Have been regular guests there for at least 20 years. We thought we would treat ourselves to something great for the 1st Advent. Totally bad result. The meat in the goulash soup was burnt, so the whole soup tasted burnt. When we reported it to the waitress, they ignored it. The main course was simply turned off. You had to ask for everything. And when you paid, there were endless discussions about the inedible soup. That was the last time! What a shame

I ate a rib aye steak that was raw instead of medium and it gave me a very bad stomach ache and there wasn't even an apology or anything for it. I didn't give a tip either, the service was very cheeky and the behavior was disgusting. I would have expected at least an apology or something, but nothing came.

Had dinner at John Benton with three people yesterday. We had great service. According to the invoice Ms. Regina.👏 Very accommodating, asked 3-4 times if everything was OK, did we need anything else, etc. All tables were occupied. For food we had a side salad, baked potato, fries, turkey steaks and sirloin steak. Food came quickly, sirloin steak desired cooking level 👍. Turkey was with tendons. Pimmes and baked potatoes good. Side salad was very disappointing and Caesar dressing had no taste. The herb butter could also use more spices. Salt and pepper and the sauces brought spiced it up. Unfortunately, nothing has changed in the facility for what feels like 30 years. Toilet was clean. What we thought was great was the option for smokers to have outdoor lighting beautifully lit with wooden barrels.

Ambiance is terribly bad. Broken menu, dark and not heated. Food carelessly prepared and of mediocre quality. It was cafeteria level and therefore too expensive. Service was ok, but nothing more. Not worth another visit.

My partner and I really enjoyed eating here, but we haven't been there for a while. We went there for dinner today for his birthday and regretted it relatively quickly. My partner ordered a fillet steak medium, but got it rare and lukewarm. When asked to put the fillet on the grill again, this was done, but only briefly fried on the sides, burnt on the outside, still rare and bloody on the inside. He then left half the steak behind because there was nothing left to save anyway. I ordered a cheeseburger without coleslaw salad, I got the cheeseburger without tomato, onion etc., there was only a patty with a blob of ketchup on it and the cheese was already foil-like and transparent, when asked they said they weren't sure because I didn't want coleslaw, didn't understand the connection, but fine, I got a plate with toppings afterwards. The sweet potato fries were soggy. The service person did her best and was friendly, but someone else came to collect the money, and when we paid we were asked whether we wanted the change? We would have rounded this up anyway, but with two half-full plates asking if we wanted the money back, even though she didn't even serve us, was very cheeky. We have no problem investing more money in good food, but today was a complete disappointment. Too bad.

So I like the shop. The waitresses are extremely attentive. But the lady at the grill doesn't know all that much about the steps. Been there three times and almost got a steak three times, which was ordered medium rare. Too bad. When we first visited the new owner it was perfect. Ambience good. Good on the outside.

This was most certainly something good. I love my mushroom and when I tell you the mushroom sauce was good it really was. The steak could use a little more salt but other than that it was cooked to perfection. I loved the sides too and so did my partner. Will def recommend this to someone who is visiting Augsburg for the first time or anytime at all.

Nice restaurant in a good location. The food is not bad but not particularly praiseworthy. The prices are not justified by the taste and the service (I can only talk about my visit now) was very rude and condescending even though the restaurant was not very busy and therefore, in my opinion, there was no reason to be annoyed or stressed or as in even making derogatory comments about my case. That was definitely my last visit.

First of all, we have been regular customers to this day. Ordered a cheeseburger and a John Benton steak, as always. Steak should be medium rare and without sauce but with herb butter. Both were on the grill for half an hour. Then the waitress comes and says, "The chef put the sauce on it." The cheeseburger also arrived but without cheese. Salad with steak with house dressing is no longer what it used to be. Dear John Benton team, we had a great time with you, but today we part ways. We hope that the old team with cook and service staff will come back, otherwise it is no longer worth recommending...

We used to go there every week, but not recently for various reasons, so now we thought we'd come back. We were always thrilled when it hadn't been redesigned yet and a lot of new things were added, for example: E.g. just steak and fries. But no breakfast or anything. Unfortunately we were disappointed, the first steak was tough and cold, it was only improved after a comment, with the comment “again, too bad.”

The best and hottest sour cream I have ever tasted. I would be happy if the shop in Munich also existed, and best of all in Haar. I love the ribs and the rump steak hmmm the Kreuter butter is also a real treat with the baguette.

It's really difficult for me to give this one star, but it's now the second time that I ordered my steak medium-well and was served an almost live cow. I expect a restaurant that specializes in steaks to have mastered this basic craft. A pity…

Our daughter “grew up” in the restaurant 😂 We come from time to time and since then we always eat... YES ALWAYS 🤭🤭🤭 the same thing: - Sirloin steak - Country Potatoes - Small salad and finally an espresso. The food is almost always equally good and the steak is almost always the way you order it, i.e. rare, well done, etc. That's almost always 100% for us. It's hard to believe, but JohnBenton has maintained this level for years and that's great. That's why we're going to eat steak here. We have already experienced many branch managers - in Benton they were mostly women - and all of them - including the current ones - are friendly and nice and hard-working. The service itself is quick and also very friendly and attentive. Here 98%. But there is a shortcoming that we have noticed for a long time And that's the setup. Unfortunately, it hasn't changed in 25 years. Just repainting and hanging new pictures is now not enough. The tables, the surface... we find all of this a bit creepy now. Time travel.

Our visit to John Benton Steakhouse was, in words, "A perfect evening." We spent an evening here with friends that was perfect in every respect. Food: The food was great. The menu offered a diverse selection, so there was something for every taste. The meat was cooked to perfection - juicy, tender and full of flavor. Particularly worth mentioning is of course the herb baguette, which is undoubtedly legendary and thrilled us all. Service: The service was first class. We received an extremely friendly welcome and the staff was attentive and courteous. All of our wishes were fulfilled promptly and with a smile. The staff were well trained and were able to provide us with expert advice, which made the entire experience even more pleasant. Ambiance: The ambience at John Benton is admittedly a bit old, but it was cozy, inviting and, despite the years, still in good, well-maintained condition. Conclusion: We agree - the John Benton steakhouse is definitely worth recommending. The combination of excellent food, outstanding service and pleasant ambience makes it an experience you'll want to repeat. We give it a full 5 stars and we are already looking forward to our next visit.

Yesterday we were in this restaurant again for a long time. Unfortunately, a lot has changed for the worse since our last visit. I ordered the so-called “Fetzenburger” - at the proud price of €21.90. The best thing first - the meat on this burger (approx. 80 gr) was good. But everything - and I mean everything else was bad. The bun was dry as straw - a huge mountain of equally strawy fries, which were probably intended to hide the measly portion of meat - a micro portion of Coleslow, which consisted of mayonnaise with carrot pieces and only resembled a Coleslow from a distance and was inedible. To top it all off, a slice of sliced ​​cheese lay unmelted on the meat - and could therefore be removed! The fact is, apart from the meat and a few fries, the entire plate went back into the kitchen. The service was friendly and attentive - at least a small consolation.

Super friendly staff. We felt good. We had burgers, one of which was veggie - they were very tasty. And once a ribeye steak - it was cooked to perfection and a real treat (the only thing that should have been a bit reserved was the seasoning). Highly recommended!

We always enjoyed eating in this restaurant. However, the latest price increase is the last straw. Here, simple spare ribs cost €28 and half a beer costs €5.40 - that's not just expensive, it's already exorbitant. The interesting thing was that the restaurant was hardly attended. Most likely due to the price-performance ratio! Sorry, but please reconsider the pricing policy, because it is not calculated fairly - inflation, the energy crisis and the shortage of skilled workers no longer justify it.

It was my first time at this steakhouse and I wasn't disappointed. The ambience is clearly showing its age and is rather dark. The steak wasn't too big, but tasted good and my chosen cooking point was also met. The side dishes were standard, baguette so-so but the hash browns were good. Worth mentioning is the John Benton's Pot, which tasted so delicious that I ordered a portion to take away. The price-performance ratio is okay for Augsburg, but here in Munich good or better steaks are significantly more expensive. Service staff was attentive and friendly.

Most of the food was good, but the pancakes didn’t seem fresh. Two items were forgotten, one of which was brought out after the rest of the food was eaten. The menu in the restaurant has fewer items than the one shown online has, and one drink that was ordered came in a smaller bottle than the menu said, but cost 6,90 instead of 4,50. For €75 for breakfast, I expect less issues.

John Benton is a resturant who changed my life during a visit a year ago. Through the visit I met my current wife and many great new people with whom we are still in good contact today

Very good restaurant and have never been served so warmly! The food was very tasty and came relatively quickly even though the restaurant was busy.

We were there as a group (with reservation) after a visit to the Augsburg Christmas market. Ambiance okay, cozy. Food and drinks were quite good and reasonably priced. Unfortunately, a big minus was the very unfriendly service and sometimes incorrect serving at the table (which the guest could have overlooked if they had been more friendly). Anyone who values ​​more or less pointless discussions and the barracks-like tone of the service is in good hands there. It's a shame that the kitchen's good work doesn't reach the table as it should.

The food and service complemented each other one-to-one. I would even give 6 or more stars for the service!

Unfortunately it's no longer what it used to be 😟 We have been getting spareribs regularly for years, but since the old team and tenant changed, the quality has also decreased. Today we had high hopes that it would taste better than it did a few weeks ago, but unfortunately we were really disappointed again 😞. Meat was tough, had large spare ribs with 3 layers and each layer was different 🤷🏼‍♀️ So we won't be ordering or eating there anymore because we miss the good old cuisine, the old original John Benton cuisine.

Good steakhouse where the price-performance ratio is right, the atmosphere is also cozy and pleasant and tempts you to stay there longer. It's not for nothing that John Benton has been one of the best steakhouses in Augsburg for decades.

I like the food at John Benton. Ambience rather rustic, old-fashioned and dark. There is now a new, colorful and modern menu with photos, more burgers and more desserts, as well as cocktails.

I've known John B for a very long time. I was there again recently. Unfortunately I didn't like it and it's totally overpriced. So it was done for me personally. I think it's cheeky for €5 for a sauce!

We came across this restaurant by chance through Google Maps because we wanted to eat a quality steak. My friend ordered a rib eye steak (medium) with a side salad and fries. And I ordered a turkey steak with sweet potato fries. Unfortunately, the degree of doneness of the steak was not met; the steak was cooked unevenly to medium well. When we told the waitress When we said the end, there was no reaction. My turkey steak was oversalted… We cannot recommend the restaurant for this price range. Especially since our neighboring table had similar problems.

Were at John Benton again today, haven't been there for a while because the service has gotten worse and the prices are also high. I was looking forward to my salad with the house dressing, but was very disappointed. The dressing was only light in color, was diluted with a lot of water, and that's how it tasted. The sour cream used to be unique, now it's just one solid cream Country potatoes used to be much better. I don't think we'll come back anymore. We used to be there at least once a week. The young gentleman (service person) was very accommodating. If you're going to raise the prices so much, you should at least maintain the quality of the food.

Ambiente wie in einem Karstadt Restaurant. Speisen auf niedrigstem Niveau. Wir hatten dreimal Ribs und alle drei Portionieren waren für knapp 30,— Euro ausreichend groß. Leider war die Qualität wirklich unterirdisch. Trocken, mit viel zu viel Pfeffer. Ansonsten geschmacklich gen Null tendierende Sauce. Beilagen und Drinks OK. Service sehr aufmerksam und freundlich. Noch einmal? No way!

There were six of us here. We reserved the places 4 weeks in advance. The table was not set, the tables had to be pushed together first. Cutlery for 3 people. Drinks came after the meal, as the ice cream had to be delivered from the kitchen first?????Food ok, but nothing special. The leather seats are all ripped open and you ruin your clothes. The restaurant is run down and urgently needs renovation. Price too expensive because the ambience is miserable. There are by far nicer restaurants in Augsburg.

I found out that the old owner no longer runs it, which may be because it doesn't taste as good as it used to. The only positive thing was the service.

Wir kommen seit Jahren/Jahrzehnten in dieses Restaurant, der Service, das Angebot und alle Gerichte sind gleich bleibend TOP!! Unbedingt reservieren, zu jeder Zeit! Stets sehr gut besucht!

Vielversprechender beginn...freundliche Bedienung..dann kam das Essen. 3 verschiedene Gerichte bei denen 2 mit der falschen Kombination serviert wurden. Wäre kein Problem...wurde pragmatisch gelöst. Grossspurig wurde dann verlautet Getränke würden wegen des Fauxpas auf das Haus gehen. Bei der Rechnung dann doe Überraschung...statt Getränken unsonst gab es immerhin Bonbons und Lutscher. Zum durchwachsenen Service merkte man dem Essen auch an das es Freitags abend war Insgesamt ein nicht zufriedenstellender Abend.

Das Lokal befindet sich in der Umgebung von der Stadtmitte Maximilian. Innen sehr dunkel, und komisches Ambiente. Essen : Steak Trocken, und die Ribchen kathastrophe voll mit Soße null Geschmack.

Sehr gutes Essen, wunderbarer Service von Lara. Wir haben heute zum ersten Mal im John Benton gegessen, die Vorspeisen waren sehr gut, das Filet sensationell auf den Punkt, butterzart. Sehr leckere Desserts. Hervorzuheben der charmante und perfekte Servive von Lara. Vielen Dank für den schönen Nachmittag.

War zum wiederholten Mal dort zum Essen. Das Essen ist weiterhin ausgezeichnet. Allerdings hält der Service nicht mit. Auf die Frage, ob ich zur Vorspeise ein Messer erhalten könne, wurde mir gesagt, dass dies schwierig sei, da nicht genügend Messer da seien. Auch wurde der Beilagensalat zur Hauptspeise genauso wie die zusätzlich bestellte Sauce vergessen und erst nach ca. fünf Minuten gebracht. Auch musste man auf die Getränke sehr lange warten. Das Ambiente ist sehr in die Jahre gekommen und bedarf einer Auffrischung.

Ein gelungener Abend. Die Bedienung war mega,freundlich zuvorkommend und sehr aufmerksam. Das Essen war sehr gut, Bestellt habe ich ein Filet medium, einfach ein Genuss, Danke an das John Benton Team.

Essen qualitativ hochwertig, Preise für Hauptgerichte sind noch in Ordnung, alles andere mittlerweile wirklich gepfeffert. Die Bedingung hat unseren Tisch (mehr als 8 Gäste) recht zuverlässig bedient, etwas seltsam fand ich jedoch dass sie jeden explizit nach Trinkgeld gefragt hat. Ich verstehe schon, die gebeutelte Gastro etc. aber es gibt in DE immer noch Mindestlohn und wer es nicht einmal schafft 10% im Kopf zu überschlagen sondern jedesmal den Taschenrechner zückt macht schon einen sehr gierigen Eindruck auf mich.

Herzlicher Service und hervorragende Steaks. Wir kommen wieder!

Gutes Steakhaus mit reellen Preisen. Einrichtung seit Jahrzehnten gleich, aber auch die Qualität. Nicht so hipp wie andere Adressen, aber definitiv jeden Cent wert. Und sogar günstiger im Vergleich. Ich habe das Gefühl, dass der Geschmack noch besser wurde. Was will man mehr? Es schmeckt!
