Omars in Augsburg

We ordered from Omars for the first time today on the recommendation of friends (to take away because of Corona). We are very excited! The dishes are prepared to a high quality, original and very deliciously seasoned - like an experienced Afghan grandma :) The lamb was really very tender and well prepared, perfectly combined with saffron rice, orange peel and pistachios. My boyfriend is a fan of the Ashak dumplings and I am now a Bolani dumplings fan. Will 100% order them again next time. The owner is very friendly. He gave us good advice and gave us salad and dessert on top. Enjoy your meal! An enrichment for Augsburg. Addendum: I originally gave it 5 stars. Unfortunately, I later discovered that the prices were more expensive than stated on the menu. Each dish was simply rounded up. That shouldn't happen, so unfortunately there is a two star deduction. (We also gave tips).

The food didn't convince us personally. It could also be because it's not entirely our taste. The price/performance ratio doesn't quite fit.

I ordered via Boxbote, unfortunately the delivery was incomplete, which could be overcome thanks to subsequent delivery. However, the rice smelled very strongly of animal fat, probably goat, which I find unacceptable for a vegetarian order. In the future, prefer Sangam.

Great restaurant, nothing comparable in Augsburg! Thanks for the friendly service, the delicious food... saved our evening!

Excellent! We ordered stuffed dumplings and marinated chicken fillet with rice there this evening and are thrilled with the taste and the special spices. The host was very nice and even gave us a dessert. Really recommended! We're looking forward to when the restaurants can open again so we can eat on site!

We recently ordered here via Boxbote as Covid doesn't allow eating on site. We had high expectations for the food as the prices were quite reasonable. Unfortunately, the food arrived half an hour late and cold... probably not Omar's fault! But after opening the food boxes it was a complete disappointment visually. After eating eggplants swimming in fat and dry meat, the mood was not good. Only the okra pods were convincing. I hope we were just unlucky. However, that evening the price-performance ratio wasn't right. Sorry

We have now made it to Omar's Afghan Kitchen, next to the theater. As a starter we shared "borani kadu" = braised pumpkin wedges with quark (=tschakka) and naan bread. Yes, I realized again that I'm not a fan of coriander 😑. The bread tasted like old flatbread from a Turkish bakery. For the main course we put together what we wanted, namely rice with saffron rice, almonds, pistachios and orange peel (="Nerendj Palau") with 3 meatballs (="korma kofta") and once with eggplant goulash (= (="borani banajan" ). I liked my main course quite well, but my companion didn't like the meatballs very much because of the spices. She also thought the minced meat was grilled/fried and not cooked in sauce and was therefore disappointed. By the way, the rice is served separately from the sauces. For the vegetarians 🌱: there are also sauces with either pumpkin, eggplant, potatoes, okra or spinach. There are also grilled specialties 🥩 on the menu. These will then be tested next time. Unfortunately, you can only find colloquial Afghan terms for the sauce dishes on the menu, so you don't know what's actually there. These are explained by the nice waiter without being asked. In general, he was very nice, like he was fresh from “waiter school”😆. He often came to the table and asked if everything was okay and how we liked it. Since we were the only guests, there was time for a chat. He said that the menu is not complete yet, some Afghan dishes, drinks, desserts and teas will be added later, so there is no menu on the website. But I was so free and had photographed her outside before ☺️. The ambience is clean, simple, spacious, and apart from a few pictures there is nothing Afghan/Oriental in the furnishings or decoration. The separate side room in the winter garden is decorated in white/light wood and we actually liked it even better. It's nice... that there is another Afghan/Persian restaurant in Augsburg with exactly this Persian rice.

Super freundliche und zuvorkommende Bedienung, das Essen ist einmalig und es herrscht ein tolles Ambiente. Gerne wieder!

Extrem leckeres Essen und hervorragender Service. Portionen dürften etwas größer sein. (typisch afganisch ist das Preis Leistungsverhältnis leider nicht). Trotzdem 5 Puntke weils einfach echt mega lecker ist und der junge Mann sehr zuvorkommend und herzlich bedient.

Aufmerksamer, höflicher Service. Geschmacklich hervorragend! Einen Stern Abzug gibt es für das Preis-/Leistungsverhältnis. 16,60 Euro für eine normale Portion Reis, bei dem die laut Karte angekündigten Pistazien und Mandeln nur in homöopathischen Dosen vorhanden waren (also quasi gar nicht), plus eine Mini-Portion Soße mit 2 Würfelchen Fleisch plus eine Mini-Portion Salat sind leider absolut nicht angemessen.

Super lecker und sehr nette Bedingung/ Freue mich auf den nächsten Besuch

War heute mit Freunden dort, SEHR lecker, Service und Chef aufmerksam und freundlich. Bewertung 7 von 5 möglichen Sternen. Werde sicher wieder kommen.
