Unfortunately, disappointing service – despite good food
I've been ordering here regularly for years because the food is truly delicious – to be fair. Unfortunately, the service consistently falls well short of what one would expect. What happened to me with my last order, however, is the icing on the cake.
Once again, an order was placed via Lieferando – and once again, it wasn't executed correctly. The Dürüm Döner Tavuk was again incorrectly prepared. When I called, I was simply offered the correct delivery next time. An apology? None. When I followed up, I was suddenly told they were out of Tavuk kebabs. So, with a growling stomach, I had to choose an alternative. Again: no apology, no understanding.
The replacement delivery was confirmed by phone – with the note that it "might take a while." And it did: a wait of almost an hour, while my family had long since eaten. When I expressed my anger again, all I got was a terse "It's not my fault."
The highlight, however, was the question during delivery, whether I could take the incorrect product back. Why? To resell it? To consume it? Or to indirectly insinuate that I had made up the mistake to get a free kebab? That's truly audacious.
The bottom line: good food, unacceptable service. This was my last order. There are many other restaurants in Buer with good food and respectful customer service.
A very attractive restaurant with delicious food. We felt very comfortable. The food was excellent, and the service extremely attentive. Unfortunately, we were just passing through, otherwise the Athen would have become a regular for us.
A really nice little shop.
The incredibly friendly staff helps you navigate the extensive topping counter.
The prices are completely reasonable, and the food is truly delicious.
I'll definitely be coming here again.
An authentic Indian restaurant with minor flaws, but overall a harmonious, flavor-packed experience.
Service: ★★★☆☆ (3/5)
The staff was consistently friendly and responded attentively and easily to special requests – such as ice cubes in drinks. It was particularly positive that there was no unpleasant odor in the dining room.
One minor criticism concerns communication: German skills varied greatly – one member of staff was good, while the rest were rather patchy. However, in an authentically run Indian restaurant, this is acceptable.
What was less understandable, however, was that an onion salad with an extremely hot chili pepper was served – without any warning. Although everyone at the table was used to spicy food, the heat was so intense that it was impossible to eat together for about 15 minutes. We consider serving such an ingredient without warning to be irresponsible.
Ambience: ★★★☆☆ (3/5)
The restaurant is decorated in a clichéd but lovingly Indian style – the chairs in particular create a harmonious image, but are unfortunately not very comfortable. The dining room overall seemed a bit bare, and some sections of the walls could be cleaner. Nevertheless, a certain atmosphere emerges that contributes to the overall experience.
The very clean and well-maintained restrooms deserve special mention – even if the sink/faucet system was a bit complicated to operate.
A small highlight was the way individual drinks were served, almost in an Indian cart – a nice detail that rounds out the ambiance.
Food: ★★★★☆ (4/5)
The restaurant's culinary offerings were almost consistently impressive.
The appetizers, especially the BBQ honey chicken and the fried vegetables, were not only delicious but also seemed creatively and lovingly prepared. The mango dip was outstanding and particularly memorable. The side dishes, such as the garlic naan and the homemade dips, were harmonious and aromatic.
The main courses – butter chicken, a masala, and a lamb curry – varied in taste but were consistently successful. The flavors were balanced and authentic. The accompanying rice was also well-matched.
The drink selection was also perfect: the Indian Kingfisher beer and the lassis (served in original vessels) rounded off the meal.
Overall, a thoroughly delicious experience that makes you want to return.
Conclusion:
A restaurant with an authentic flair, some minor weaknesses in the service and ambiance, but a pleasingly strong kitchen. A clear recommendation – especially for lovers of Indian cuisine.
I was able to enjoy the delicious food (buffet-style finger food) at a birthday party. It was a fantastic, varied, and diverse vegetarian buffet. Very lovingly prepared and presented, and it was a feast for the eyes. Naturally, it was incredibly delicious and healthy too. Highly recommended!
(Antipasti, quiche, skewers, wraps, etc.)
I had a delicious soup and an outstanding meat dish, both prepared with great care and flavor. The service was impeccable: the girl who attended to me was truly exceptional, extremely kind, highly professional, and very quick. Thanks to her, my experience was absolutely perfect
The food was delicious and the staff was very friendly. The atmosphere was great and highly recommended.
The only criticism is that it cost a bit more.
