Friendly, tasty, good: The recently moved Ambari (new: Dianastraße) impresses with a very friendly team and a compact but really good menu with vegetarian dishes. There are different options to choose from each day of the week and you can also find dishes in the long-running favorites that not every Indian restaurant in the city offers. Tip: Thali - so you can try three dishes at once ;) And Pongal = super delicious!

I've been going regularly to Ambari for the past 1.5 years, and they do an amazing job of recreating the Darshini style food from Bangalore in Munich. The Mysore Masala Dosa, Vadas, and the filter coffee are especially good, and I'm glad to have found a place in Munich that does a great job with these items. The owners also deserve a special mention, being so warm and hospitable. Best wishes for them at their new location!

We shared the North Indian Thali and the Mysore Masala Dosa for two and everything was delicious! Not only the food, but also the service and the atmosphere were excellent! We will definitely be back :) Best of luck with the new location!

One of the best South Indian delicacies i have had in Munich. They also have variety of dishes, which are a must try. Must try : Dose, masale puri, North Indian thali.

If you want to eat authentic South Indian food especially Bangalore style food ,this is the place I would highly recommend. We have been visiting this place for around 3 years, and now recently they have shifted to a new location ,which has an amazing ambiance along with yummy food. You will eat one of the softest idlis here, masala puri tasted awesome .They had organized Ugadi(Karnataka new year) feast last year, which was so good! We will definitely keep visiting this place to try new dishes. Also ,the owner of this place is welcoming and friendly! Highly recommend!

Not worthy as they projected. It’s a tiny family run place not willing to hire more people to handle crowd or reservations. The food is okay not great. Service is bad because only one guy runs in and out the kitchen, delivers food, takes orders, cleans table etc… if you need peace of mind and wanna feel warm and welcomed then this is not the place for you. May be when they scale a bit and have more people to serve it might be better.

I've been eating there regularly since they opened and I've never been disappointed. This is what really good Indian cuisine should be like. Thanks!

Amazing home cooked style food.

Very tasty and authentic. The menus are particularly recommended as you can try several different dishes that you don't know from typical Indian restaurants. There is a star deduction for the ambience. Unfortunately it wasn't very clean and a few room dividers would make the room more comfortable.

Ambari is a pleasant place to experience South Indian food. They have fixed timings and a limited menu, so check before you visit as every day have different menu and not like any regular restaurant. I had the South Indian thali, and my husband had the North Indian thali. I felt the South Indian thali was better, while the North Indian had a South Indian touch, which is fine since every restaurant has its specialty. The curd rice was a bit salty, possibly because we arrived right at opening time so the host wanted to sure us without keeping us wait. The ambiance is nice and limited. I look forward to trying their breakfast on Saturday mornings. Thanks for the authentic vegetarian South Indian experience.

Really authentic place with authentic food. The idly is exceptionally spongy and soft. The masala dosa is crisp yet soft and paired with a very light potato mix. The coconut chutney is spot on, while the gunpowder spice in the Sambar makes it homely. Have been to this place about 2-3 times now, and they never disappoint with the food. The onion dosa/uthappam was a bit spicy for me, owing to the chillies, so make sure to eat enough of the cool coconut chutney with it. The filter coffee lacks a little as far as the authentic flavour goes, but it is by far the best I have come across in Munich. The service was much quicker than expected on the quiet Saturday morning. The new tables are good, but I really missed the classic Indian style wooden tables they had. That gave the place an idyllic nuance which I missed. Overall, this place is a must visit for anyone who loves South Indian food, especially breakfast items. The food is slightly expensive for student budgets, but it more than delivers on the quality and taste. Would definitely visit again!!

Update: we visited today again after a gap, the whole environment from the soothing Sanskrit chants in the background to the very delicious & hot homely South Indian breakfast reminded me of being back home in India at my mother‘s place. It’s hard to find authentic Indian home style cooked food. Was glad to eat at Ambari where Rashmi & Team not only serve fresh vegetarian delicious food, but also are warm and welcoming. We also order lunch takeaway very frequently. Must try: Gobi Manchurian & Chole bature, apart from her South Indian Menu on Saturday mornings.

Very good South Indian food. Typical Bangalore food. So humble and I definitely would recommend to visit there and try out all the dishes. Feels at home, have been there multiple times and food is exceptionally good. Service is great. Atmosphere is amazing. This should be a must visit for a South Indian food lover.

A very overrated restaurant in Munich. Food is average, nothing great about it. But what was worse is the Ambience. They don't have the heater on in freezing temperatures and I have never had my food so cold. It was literally freezing in the restaurant. We left within 45mins (including order time) as you could not sit longer. It was also pricey compared to a well set up and tasty restaurant. Don't visit this restaurant if you expect great taste or ambience and in winter never. Because you are sure to catch cold.

We went there for breakfast and the food is prepared in Authentic Banglore style. We tried Mysore Marsala dosa and Medu Vada. Both met our expectations. We definitely would come back

Akki rotti and Masala Puri were very good to taste, reminds of Hallimane Malleshwaram. Gobi was a little too crispy for my taste, but taste comes close to a street food Gobi Manchurian. Batura was a bit sour also Channa masala not the best one which I have had. The restaurant is all but a single room which is carefully decorated to give a feel of Karnataka. It offers variety and the options not found in regular Indian restaurants. I would like to visit this place again, although it is a tad expensive and not exactly value for money.

Ambari Restaurant is a hidden gem, serving authentic and delicious South Indian food. The chef cooks everything from scratch using fresh, high-quality ingredients and traditional recipes. I highly recommend the South Indian Special Thali, which features a variety of dishes from different regions of South India. The Neer Dose and Bisibelebhat are two of my favorites. Reservations are a must, as the chef prepares the food based on the number of reservations. This helps to minimize food waste, and it ensures that every customer gets a fresh, hot meal.

Authentic South Indian foods. They serve some special menus on Saturday morning which are very delicious. Staffs are friendly and helpful. Saturday morning is always busy so guests need to wait sometimes to have a table.

The food taste could be improved a lot. I am not satisfied with the quality for the price I paid. I would like to give a constructive feedback to the chef: - Onion dosa was good - Idli was okay - Vada was good but too oily - kesaribath was okay - coffee was not good it could be quality of milk and also the quality of the coffee powder. I hope the chef takes these feedback and improves.

Taste was good, but the quantity was really scary. Ordered a South Indian meals to only see a plate filled with quantity resembling snacks. But run by good person, service was good. He also offered some additional rice but I hope the owner sees this and seriously considers filling customers stomach up. Cost for one plate of meal was 15,99€ by the way. ಕನ್ನಡಿಗರ ಹೋಟೆಲ್ ಅಂತ ಹೋಗಿದ್ದು ಸ್ವಲ್ಪ dissapointed.

First impressions when I entered, unconventional decor and ambiance of dining room of your home. Bangalorean cuisine cooked with an un-restautrent like way. Suggest going on Saturdays morning for a lovely breakfast. Please note that parking is a struggle !

This place requires you to book the table in advance. We tried Masala dosa on Saturday Morning. It was very tasty. The vada was also good.

Ok food! We went there after seeing many positive reviews.. being a South Indian myself , I had quite a high expectation.. but I was not so satisfied.. We went there at a late hour without reserving beforehand and they had only the thali.. the food tasted so bland.. not even mildly spicy.. and the price was high.. total waste of money for the thali.. Would not recommend if you are okay with absolutely ‘No spice’ food.
