I was at the Pizzeria Al Castello in February and had a very nice evening. The service was friendly and attentive. The food – especially the pizza – was really tasty and freshly prepared. The ambience is perfect: cozy and inviting. The seating is also comfortable - not too tight, so you can sit relaxed and enjoy. I would definitely like to come back!
We went based on the good reviews we got and weren't so convinced. Food was solid, but not really convincing. In general, I found everything very generic; often that certain something was missing. My noodles were rather salty (and I actually like salt) but they were homemade. The service was super slow, even though less than half the restaurant was full. There was definitely also a problem of division. We won't come again, there are better Italians in Marburg.
I've ordered regularly from this pizzeria for many years and was mostly satisfied. Even on the few visits I've made, everything has been fine – until now.
This time I ate there again in person and am honestly disappointed. Without having ordered anything, I was served bread with herb butter – and later simply charged for it. I ordered a regular-sized pizza, but received a large one – also at a higher price. At the end, I was offered a "nightcap" – friendly and as if it were a gesture of kindness. Unfortunately, this one was also on the bill.
When I questioned the bill, they stubbornly insisted that everything was correct. Incidentally, the leftover pizza, which I would have liked to take with me, wasn't even wrapped – despite our agreement.
It's a shame. After so many years, such a disappointing experience – I won't order from there again, nor will I go there again.
It was very full and there were staffing problems which we found out afterwards. 1 hour waiting time for food, wrong order, staff was friendly and helpful. But couldn't catch it. The food was good, I had tortellini and Lambrusco as a drink. The restaurant deserves a chance to see whether things look different during normal operations.
The dishes are absolutely great, whether pizza, pasta dishes, meat or salads. The atmosphere is unfortunately very cool and has no real Italian character. This could still be worked on and improved a lot! Otherwise a top recommendation!
Rigatoni al Forno and Pizza Regina were good... staff friendly and quick. We sat outside... good overview of the shopping arcade.
The only negative thing is that if you are very hungry, then a portion of rigatoni might not be enough... better order some pizza bread with it 🙃
Price was ok 👍
Really enjoyed our visit to this typical Sicilian pizzeria. The dough was top quality, with fresh and tasty ingredients. Don’t expect a fancy restaurant, but rather a cozy, no-frills neighborhood spot with lots of charm.
The welcome was incredibly warm and full of humor—such a lovely atmosphere! Be sure to try the tiramisu, it's absolutely worth it.
