Pepe’s in Marburg

The staff was very friendly and attentive, even though it was busy. The food was excellent. I loved my pala (a square pizza), for example. The crust was so crispy! If we're ever in Marburg again, we'll definitely go back to Pepe!

The evening got off to a suboptimal start: We had to wait 10 minutes at our table without even a menu in hand (and we weren't the only guests that evening who felt this way...). But the food was absolutely fantastic – truly fantastic! The chef himself, with his charming manner, made up for the less than impressive performance of the service team. We will definitely come back and give the service another chance – it's worth it for the food alone!

Probably a stressful Monday evening... But they seem to be piling up. With a little more patience than others who left the restaurant after a while, we enjoyed a more or less successful meal of palazzo, pasta, and salad. The portions were rather small, the palazzo was rock-hard, and the tortellini was delicious, but only half a portion. They were obviously out of arugula; it would have given the palazzo a bit more flavor. The tiramisu was also good, although the espresso was more like a ristretto, but at least the cup was preheated. The atmosphere in the restaurant was loud and stressful, not least because of the waitress, who tried to act as quickly as possible. And: My name is neither "Chef," nor do I want to be touched without being asked. Perhaps better days will come again, because obviously customers are coming back... We're not.

Pepe's is a modern restaurant with high-quality dishes. Be sure to check out the recommendations. With his friendly and attentive manner, Pepe more than fulfilled all our wishes. We really enjoyed it.

We wanted to celebrate our wedding anniversary and were very disappointed. For around €135, the evening was a complete disaster. We arrived shortly before 6:30 p.m., received our appetizer platter after 55 minutes, and then our main course after 40 minutes, despite asking three times. Apart from "we're sorry, it's too busy and the chef is sick, so the manager had to come and improvise," nothing came. No coffee, dessert, or anything else to compensate for the small disappointment we would have expected from a very good restaurant. The main problem wasn't the extremely late food, but the fact that at least three tables that arrived after us were served their food before us. For that reason, we won't give Pepe's a second chance. A real shame!

The food was below average for an Italian restaurant, and the service was inattentive despite the terrace being half empty. We would have liked to have ordered at least a couple of drinks. The Aperol Spritz was also completely watery. This was our first and last visit.

I went to Pepe's in Marburg with a friend last night. The food was okay. However, they didn't ask if we wanted dessert or an espresso, let alone another drink. We would have liked another cocktail. We felt like we'd finished eating and could leave to find someone else at the table. It's a real shame; we were a bit disappointed.

For a location in the middle of an industrial park, the atmosphere is pretty good. The waiters are all friendly... when they actually talk to you. We initially waited 15 minutes in the largely empty restaurant, while the 3!!! waiters kept walking past us without taking our orders. The same thing happened when ordering food - both times we had to actively approach the waiters after waiting too long. The starter salad was great! Unfortunately, for the main course, my wife and I both received the wrong dish. My wife's order was rectified promptly, but it took longer for me to receive the wrong dish again. In response to a comment from someone, we were told that "it's the chef's first day today." Meanwhile, three empty glasses remained on our table the entire time we were eating, without anyone clearing them away or taking our order. Here, too, we had to speak to the waiters again. The same thing happened when paying... I eventually went inside and paid there. Apparently, they weren't particularly interested in us all evening... At €16 for a medium-sized pizza with salami and onions (but without pepperoni, even though it's listed on the menu), I think you'd expect more. Incidentally, the glass sizes don't match the ones listed on the menu (the menu says 0.25, and we got 0.2), but at least the price ratios for large and small drinks are reasonable. I just looked at the menu online again - it lists completely different items (and much better ones, too), which could explain the differences in the dishes. Although, if the Pala Burrata comes without burrata, then something's definitely wrong...

We went based on the good reviews we got and weren't so convinced. Food was solid, but not really convincing. In general, I found everything very generic; often that certain something was missing. My noodles were rather salty (and I actually like salt) but they were homemade. The service was super slow, even though less than half the restaurant was full. There was definitely also a problem of division. We won't come again, there are better Italians in Marburg.

My house is within walking distance, and Pepe's is a reason why I believe that one day I won't have to leave my neighborhood at all and I'll still have a good life... The service is attentive (as far as possible at full capacity) and friendly at all times, the food is always at least (!) good, it is freshly prepared and sometimes takes a little longer to prepare than you would hope (as soon as it arrives, you immediately forget the short additional waiting time). My own expectations are always met, my opinion of the food usually varies between very satisfied and enthusiastic. The shop is always full, especially in summer - showing up at the weekend without a reservation is usually hopeless. The interior is lively due to the high occupancy, hence the 4-star rating for the ambience. Prices are higher but overall reasonable for what is on offer.

Very large salad plates; the tortellini nero with salmon were fantastic. Pleasant service.

Had a fish plate for 2, which was served with mashed potatoes and vegetables. The puree was ready and the vegetables were not vegetables but a store-bought vegetable meatball gratinated with a slice of cheese and then it was fried and super dry. The fish was inferior in quality. Of the 5 people who were there, 3 were sick with nausea and diarrhea. Eat here once and never again. If you can call it eating. Prices are brutally exaggerated for this. 56 euros for repaired scrap.

Good Italian. Homemade pasta and nice atmosphere. For me, as a wheelchair user, the disabled toilet was easily accessible.

We went to Pepe's for the first time today. We received a very friendly welcome. The food and service was excellent. I have never eaten as well in Marburg as I did there. No matter whether it was the starter, the main course (I had beef fillet that melted in the mouth, so tender), or the dessert, everything was very fresh and lovingly prepared. We will definitely eat at Pepes again. 5 stars from me

Been here twice now and I have to say. Certainly not again. I have no idea what people will find there. A lot of show with a lot of room for improvement I would say. Staff walk around like they're completely drunk. Too expensive for the performance, completely. You can't express your opinion either! There are other Italians in Marburg that are much better.

Great food in a nice atmosphere. However, I only give it two stars and that is entirely due to the poor service. We couldn't pay the bill separately, EC payment was only possible if you paid the entire amount. We also had 5 minutes to leave the restaurant. We would literally be thrown out. It would have been nice if we had been told in advance under what conditions we could pay and when we had to leave the restaurant.

Best pizza/pinsa in Marburg. Original Italian

Nice restaurant, nice location and delicious food! But I still only give it 3/5 stars: we were there in a group of about nine people. The service did not come to take another drink order. Of course you can also make yourself noticed, but there is a better way :-) I ordered salad with grilled fish (there is no dressing here!). I asked for the dish to only be made with salmon instead of the daily fish offering. The wish was fulfilled. It was also very tasty! However, I was charged much more for the entire dish. I wasn't aware of this before, but I don't like shrimp. So some lettuce leaves and 2 small pieces of salmon came to 28 euros (the drink was also added). Ate something at home to fill up. The other guests in my group made the better decision with their food. Everything looked very good. I might come back again sometime ;-)

50 minutes of waiting so that the lady at the end glances at our table and takes the last drink - in other words: our order was simply forgotten, that can happen to anyone, but then you come to the table, explain the situation and apologize, instead of leaving the guests waiting unknowingly. The portions were really very very small.

Good food and very friendly service

I was brushed off very rudely when I asked for a table for a specific day. When asked on which days there was still anything free, the answer was: "I have no idea, I would have to be a millionaire." This is neither logical nor minimally accommodating. Something like this is only possible in Marburg, with a limited supply of Italian restaurants.

We enjoyed everything very much and the service was very friendly. We sat on the terrace and felt very comfortable 🙏

Great restaurant outside of the city center. The place is very well maintained, clean, well attended with friendly, helpful staff. Large selection of international and Italian dishes. Prices are reasonable in relation to high quality craftsmanship, good products, nice ambience and good service. Everything is at ground level and there are parking spaces nearby. A visit is always worthwhile. Thank you for your efforts and the lovely evening.

Absolute recommendation, So far I've only had the steak and the gluten-free pizza but both were exceptionally good! Anyone with a gluten intolerance knows what I'm talking about when I say gluten-free pizza isn't as good as regular pizza, but honestly, this one is just as good😉🙏🏼 I love pizza and I have to say that it was one of the best pizzas I have ever eaten. We wouldn't have expected a restaurant like this, almost nowhere in an industrial area. Modern atmosphere, very good quality food and the service leaves nothing to be desired. The high rating on Tripadvisor is right and we would be happy to come back when we are in the area.

We were here for the third time now. So far the food has been good, but the service has not been. This time (lunchtime, few guests), we weren't even served after 30 minutes. Well, the card was brought after 15 minutes, and that was it. The good service seems to be aimed more at regular customers, as two other guests had their drinks after 3 minutes. We have already noticed this tendency towards arrogance and second-class service the previous times. For us, another visit is out of the question.

An experience with really good food, everything was great

Bester Italiener in Marburg....

First of all, super delicious food. Sure, but not exactly cheap. Portion of noodles rather too small for the price. The service was great. It was a bit too narrow at our table with the wall behind us. Personally, I miss the cozy atmosphere.

Ambience good. Service poor, 2 waiters on the area, waiter unfortunately very inattentive. Glasses were empty, none! asked if we would like to order anything else. We also had to ask for the dessert menu. Steak was good, but side dishes were far too few. 6 half, small, rosemary potatoes and 1 tablespoon of vegetables. Dessert Souffle Pistachio tastes like everything but pistachio. Pizza was good.

One of the best pizzas in the district! The other dishes are also of the finest quality with a fair price/performance ratio! Plus great and friendly service!

Immer super 😋 lecker. Wenn ich meine Kinder in Marburg besuche gehe ich immer wieder gerne ins Pepe's.

Bin schon ein paar Mal im Rahmen eines Geschäftsessens hier gewesen und es war immer gut. Jetzt mal mit meinen3 Mädels + einer Freundin von ihnen. Pinsa und Nudelgerichte gab es an diesem Tag. Alles war lecker, die Bedienung zunehmend freundlicher. Es waren einige Tische besetzt und im Service gab es gut zu tun. Dennoch war im Laden eine angenehme Atmosphäre und alles war stimmig. Da hat dann das Getränk etwas länger gedauert, aber das war im Hinblick auf das Gesamt- Ambiente kein Thema. Das Restaurant liegt etwas versteckt, aber man bekommt gut einen Parkplatz. Das ist in Marburg ja für gewöhnlich nicht so einfach. Wir alle fanden es prima und es war ein gelungener Abschluss nach einem erfolgreichen Shopping- Vormittag.

Das Essen war wirklich einen Besuch wert - sehr frisch, knackige Pala und Salate, wirklich sehr gut. Der Service hat uns leider 45 Minuten auf unseren Vorspeisensalat warten lassen und auch der Bewegungsmelder im Toilettenbereich hat uns unentwegt angestrahlt - naja, da könnte man sich vielleicht eine bessere Idee einfallen lassen.
