A cozy steakhouse with a very nice ambience, nice service and the food was a dream. It's definitely worth a visit even if you're just outside Burg a.F.
Four of us were just there, ordered four different dishes, and everyone loved it. The food was served quickly, very tasty, plentiful, and reasonably priced too. 👍🏼
6 days, 5 nights stay for a lot of money… Unfortunately we only got a minimum standard.
Positive:
+ Breakfast: sufficient, but the same every day, no variation.
+ Location: right in the center of Burg
Negative:
- Room: horrible. Very old, wallpaper hanging down, bathroom old, furniture very old-fashioned, different mattress sizes (bed frame larger than mattress, one 80cm and one 90cm), broken toilet flushers, different shower temperatures (almost burnt) - even after complaining they just said "yes, it needs to be repaired. Problems are known."
- Service: which one? Rooms are cleaned maximum once a week. Regular cleaning of the room can only be expected with appropriate advance notice, otherwise not. No change of towel, toilet paper or garbage bags.
- no water, hygiene products for women, little toilet paper.
- Reception is only occupied from time to time, otherwise the doors there are locked.
- Path from the reception to the rooms (through a corridor) very dirty from the seagulls.
- not enough parking spaces, when we asked we were given incorrect information.
Conclusion: not recommended! It's better to spend €100-200 more and have a decent standard for it. No relaxation at all. If I could, I wouldn't give it a star.
“So, we can’t figure out what to do with this “store.”
We were here once two years ago and ordered something to take away because we had a holiday apartment/house "next door" in Hof Benecken (children's paradise) and the children were already there. And because we liked it so much, we spent our vacation here again.
Now to the restaurant!
The food tastes really good, you can read it on many reviews and my taste buds liked it too!
But, the impression, the opening times, the media "advertising" and the service are unfortunately really weak!
For the impression: See pictures... But it should also be said that Italian techno was playing the whole time... (Wouldn't be my thing if I wanted to have a "romantic" meal there with my wife).
Opening times: According to the sign in front of the door, Wednesday - Sunday 5:30 p.m. - 8:00 p.m....
I'll leave this uncommented. But, this week (from Wednesday June 19th) it was "unfortunately closed today"...
Media advertising: Menus only exist thanks to screenshots from some visitors, people, what is that?!
And last but not least, the service:
I'm sorry but I have to digress a bit!
So, of course I wanted to order by phone (around 7 p.m.) and then bring it to our holiday home (less than 100m away). We found screenshots of the menu through other visitors on the Internet and so we knew what we wanted to eat (a Pizza Fantasia and one lasagna). Unfortunately no one answers... Ok, just go over and order on site. On site then, unfortunately lasagna is out... Ok, so two pizzas (see photo, once the Fantasia and once a salami pizza with ham and onions).
Don't be surprised! If you go through the reviews you'll often see the Pizza Fantasia which always seems to be different (maybe hence the name). So if you look at the list of ingredients and base your order on that, well, that's going to go wrong... Oh, did I mention that I waited about an hour for the pizzas?!
As I said, in the end both pizzas were very good, from the dough to the toppings and I also have to say that the relatively high price (€14.90 per pizza) is still OK.
You actually have to have been there to really understand my review. But it was exactly like that and the “store” will leave a “lasting impression” on you too! 😉
We were actually always happy, but the cook is also really bad. This was supposed to be a veal schnitzel, it was obviously in the fryer all night, tough as leather. The friendly waitress responded very professionally, offered replacement food and offered wine on the house. Normal schnitzels are ok, the burger is known to be good, cod is highly recommended, the veal schnitzel unfortunately leads to a star deduction for the people in the kitchen, and that's still benevolent...
Update 9.24: I wanted to reserve a table for several people at 6 p.m., but that didn't work, only at 5:30 p.m. or 7:30 p.m. There is no longer soup as a starter. I ate cod, the portion was so small, you had to look for it on the plate with a magnifying glass, it was served with potatoes, which were probably pre-cooked in Columbus times. The dish, just the mini cod with the terrible potatoes, costs over €20.
The food and service can be improved. As a waitress you could also smile. The portions are rather small. Price/performance rather not suitable. The salad next to the burger 🍔 cost Zb. 6.5€ extra. I found it a bit much for a small bowl. My daughter had schnitzel with fries... well it was just frozen food and thrown into the deep fryer. And it wasn't even neatly draped on the plate
Unfortunately I can't recommend the bistro nor the restaurant, it's the same chef. The food initially looks good. The fried fish from Iglo tastes better. The fish in the bistro is very crispy, luckily I have good teeth. The fried potatoes look very good, but you can't eat them after the third forkful. Completely over-spiced, even though I love spicy food. The price for the whole fried potatoes with frozen fish is way too expensive.
