Nice little restaurant in the old town. If you like Eritrean/Ethiopian food and/or have a culinary experimental palate, this is definitely the right place for you! The food tastes great and is seasoned just right! 😋👍 The portion size is okay, if you need it and are hungry you can get additional injera (Ethiopian sourdough flatbread). The African beer from the bowl also tastes delicious and fruity - something completely different. The service is friendly and attentive. The atmosphere is rustic. The toilets are clean. And the restaurant is small and busy, even during the week. This means a reservation is recommended. Gladly again!

Unbelievable quality and cozy food for such a valuable price. It will always be my first choice for great Ethiopian food.

I went to dinner with my friend. He is a vegetarian. We ordered a vegan platter and one with meat. Much to our surprise, everything was served together on one plate, "because that looks prettier," as the waitress said. In response to our complaint, we were served separately again. Apparently the food was not prepared from scratch, but rather divided between two plates, as best you can with dishes with sauce. The vegan dish could no longer be described as vegan. The meat was now lukewarm to cold and therefore a bit tough. The service person when paying, now a different person, just said "whether they should have thrown the food away" and that it was "Ethiopian family tradition" and in general we would pay a lot less by making a reservation with an app. Oh well... Asking in advance whether it is okay to serve on a plate could prevent such unpleasant situations.

The Okra in Düsseldorf-Flingern is a real insider tip for anyone who wants to go on a culinary journey to Ethiopia. From the outside, the restaurant looks rather inconspicuous - you can still see that there used to be a pub here. But it is precisely this down-to-earth charm that fits wonderfully into the creative and lively Flingern district. A warm-hearted atmosphere awaits you inside, which is mainly characterized by the people who run okra with a lot of love and humor. The hospitality is honest and warm - you immediately feel welcome. From a culinary point of view, Okra impresses with authentic Ethiopian cuisine: rich in spices, aromatic and ideal for sharing. Anyone who gets involved with new tastes will be rewarded - every dish tells a piece of culture. Conclusion: The Okra is more than just a restaurant - it is a place to feel good, enjoy and linger. Absolutely recommended for everyone who values the real and personal.

It was very tasty and beautifully presented. I had the vegan mixed platter “Beyaynetu-Afrika-Teller” with the typical sourdough flatbread and my girlfriend had the same with couscous. The couscous was very tasty and well seasoned. Everything was nice and spicy and really tasty. The service was very nice. We'll definitely be back! It took an hour to get the food, but we got our drinks very quickly and there was only one person there to take care of everyone. If you have some time, it's completely ok. The only drawback was that there wasn't much of a selection of non-alcoholic drinks. I expected something more. There was Cola, Fanta, water and apple juice spritzer, but I would probably have liked a juice spritzer made from currants, rhubarb, or something similar. There was beer and wine. So really just complaining at a high level. Overall I was pleasantly surprised and will definitely come back! :)

I have known this restaurant for almost 30 years. At the beginning I liked it better when it came to the size of the meals. The plate was well filled. I came to this restaurant 3 weeks ago to celebrate my friend's birthday. On the plate I had the impression that the leftovers from the pots had been scraped together. I found that very unfortunate. I really like Ethiopian cuisine. I would like the operator to be more generous with the food distribution again. Because the price-performance ratio should be right. I took part in Kaffee Zeromoni 30 years ago. I liked this one very much. Ethiopian coffee is very aromatic and tastes very good. I also like the atmosphere of the restaurant because it is completely in keeping with tradition. Many thanks to the team there, I really hope for another one. 🌹

Super Afrikaninisches Restaurant. Eritrea at its best!
