Super nice owner, great staff, warm people, good food, enough meat in the sauces, it's a feast, super tasty, everything was just amazing, we ate the buffet and it was great. Unfortunately, I couldn't eat that much because it fills you up so quickly, but it was definitely worth it Because it was so delicious it was simply fantastic and how nice the people there were. We couldn't take any fruit home with us so it was a really great restaurant

We had Ethiopian food for the first time today! Unfortunately we had to wait quite a long time for our food, but that was just a small downer. The food was really delicious. It was unusual to eat with your fingers, but you got used to it. We both didn't finish about 1/4-1/3 of our meal because the portion was very generous. We were sitting outside right on a street and the subway was passing by, which was really loud. Therefore the ambience is not that nice. Overall, we can recommend the restaurant! It's really something different, very tasty and rich!

It was really very tasty. The prices were fair (only the wine was overpriced). Flair was also right! One point deducted for cleanliness - all the tablecloths were slightly dirty.

One of my favorite Ethiopian restaurants in Berlin. The vegan combo always has us licking our fingers, but be aware that some things can be pretty spicy. I also recommend trying the Ethiopian beer “Djudju Beer” and coffee.

We have been visiting Restaurant “Blue Nile” since 2015, we are friends with the staff and we find the food and overall atmosphere unique and excellent. Always delicious, always friendly, always happy! For us there is only this Ethiopian restaurant in Berlin.

A perfect restaurant to feed both body and soul. If you're looking for some gentle time out and tasty natural nourishing food ( Cottage cheese is yum yum ) in a loving warm divine atmosphere then this is the place for you. The herbal tea is amazing too and worth a try. I hope to come back one time again. The staff don't hassle you either. They leave you to enjoy the ambiance. Thank you for the experience I will not forget.

Friendly and nice service and decoration in the restaurant was not overloaded, but there were some difficulties in communicating, so we ordered a different beer. The food is very tasty and the waiting time is more than positive.

It's a true Ethiopian restaurant in Berlin! There's a good choice of different dishes, although the portions are not that big. Prices are although very low. The waiters were extraordinary nice and the location is so pretty!

Many vegetarian options, even a few vegan options. Never had Ethiopian food before so I can't compare but it was very delicious! There are a few steps at the entrance and inside.

We ate outside and the waiter didn’t bother cleaning our table, he just picked the biggest leaves on the table with his hand and just brought us menus. The food was ok, not the best Ethiopian I’ve had but decent enough. The portions were very small and expensive. The vegan platter for 2 people +2 soft drinks came to 40€!! (Apparently a Diet Coke is 5€… and an apple juice is 4.50€) Also, green salad were two of the dishes on the platter, and it wasn’t even fresh! It would have been just about ok if we hadn’t be so ripped off on the price for the whole thing.

Authentic, super friendly and super tasty. Here, eating with your hands is the order of the day. We think it's great. We will definitely take a look again next time we visit Berlin. 🤩👍

If you like to eat with your hands, this is your place. We ordered a menu for 4 people for 5 and there are plenty of leftovers. Very good and recommended.

It couldn't be worse... We had a dinner date with friends at Blue Nile on December 9th, 2023. It should be an evening to forget, because it couldn't be worse. Long wait right at the beginning until the waiter took our order and we were the only guests. The wait for the food was also incredibly long and what we got as a starter was extremely embarrassing. The salad with egg consisted of iceberg lettuce, four half slices of tomato and cucumber slices, as well as a few olives and an egg. Unfortunately there is no dressing or spices. The range of soups had nothing to do with Ethiopia, because tomato soup and garlic soup have little to do with Ethiopian cuisine. The main courses we chose were also more than disappointing when they finally came to the table. The dough was overly acidic, the beef was tough and so spicy that it was almost impossible to eat. The vegetarian versions weren't convincing either because they were bland and had nothing to do with African cuisine. Where were the spices and the taste experiences that some guests praised so much??? We had the impression that the team was characterized by lack of enthusiasm, but certainly not by joy in the guests and the desire to introduce them to Ethiopian cuisine and hospitality. The dining room was cold and somehow dingy, so it wasn't inviting to stay for a long time. A one-off visit for us and certainly not something we would recommend to others.

Das beste äthiopische Restaurant in der Stadt! Es ist absolut authentisch, super lecker und das Ambiente ist der Wahnsinn. Gegessen wird traditionell auf Injera, einem etwas saurem Brot, welches auf einer Platte liegt und darauf die Gerichte. Natürlich mit den Händen, Servietten gibt es natürlich bei Bedarf dazu. Wir gehen hier seit 2008 mindestens einmal im Jahr hin und es ist unverändert toll! Danke an das Team!

das beste ethiopisch/eritreische restaurant berlins. unbedingt einplanen! inhaber sehr nett, gerichte eher europäisch-mild gehalten, aber frag nach "awazi" (würzpaste), dann hast du es selber in der hand. auch nach extra injera (fladenbrot) kann man fragen. wir kommen seit über 30 jahren gerne hierher, auch wenn es früher ein anderer inhaber war, die qualität des essens und das authentische ambiente stimmen einfach. moderate preise. am WE äthiop. kaffeezeremonie, tej (äthiop. honigwein) meistens vorrätig.

Wir haben gestern recht spontan entschieden, mal Äthiopisch essen zu gehen. Das Essen war wirklich köstlich! Und womit wir nicht gerechnet haben, dass kein Besteck, sondern Fladenbrot zur Aufnahme des Essens genutzt wird ;) war ungewohnt, aber mal sehr interessant ;) zu 20 Uhr gab es dann noch eine kleine Kaffeezeremonie und ein wirklich ganz feiner Kaffee zu trinken. Die Bedienung war ausgesprochen freundlich und dezent zurück haltend, so dass wir uns dort ganz entspannt 2 Stunden aufhalten konnten. Preislich absolut in Ordnung! Wir kommen gerne wieder, vielen Dank für den schönen Abend bei Euch!

Ich kann nicht beurteilen, ob das Restaurant und das Essen authentisch ist, es hat mir aber geschmeckt und der Service war nett. Gestört hat mich aber, das wir seeeeeeeeeeeeeehr lange auf unser Essen warten mussten. Aussersem war das Brot/die Omlette schon arg labberig. Das Essen war gut, hatte aber sehr wenig Fleisch im Verhältnis zur Sauce. Dafür war es dann preisich eher teuer. Aber besonders störend empfand ich, dass es keine Schüsseln oder Zitronen-Tücher gab, um die Finger zu reinigen - zumal dass Essen von Hand, also ohne Besteck gegessen wird.

Das Blue Nile Restaurant ist ein authentisches Lokal. Das Personal ist sehr sympatisch und qualitativ. Das Essen schmeckt wirklich sehr gut. Ich kann jedem das Restaurant empfehlen, der offen ist für eine neue Esskultur.

Visited this cozy restaurant on a Saturday evening. Location is a little far from our hotel but we felt like eating Ethiopean food and this one had good reviews. The food is indeed well spiced. We chose the menu for 2 which consisted of beef goulash, lentils, 2 chicken drumsticks, feta, cabbage and salad. We paired it with South African white wine and Djuju Mango. Good service, nice ambiance with the candles.

Got recommended to this restaurant by an Ethiopian friend as the place most local Ethiopians choose. We had their special buffet for €20 on Easter Sunday. They had great options for vegans and carnivores. They do all the classic Ethiopian dishes. Service was average but the flavors were worth it.

It was the first time I ate Ethiopian food. The food is really well spiced, and the owner is very nice. It was also the first time I ate with my hands, which was a cool experience. I think I came on a slow night though, as there weren't many people there, but that makes the atmosphere calm and pleasant

Guter Service und freundliche Bedienung, das Essen war allerdings mäßig. Nicht schlecht, aber weder das typische Fladenbrot war gut, noch waren die Speisen besonders gewürzt. Alles ganz Ok, wer allerdings schon mal äthiopisch gegessen hat, wird enttäuscht werden.

I really like this Ethiopian restaurant as it is close to my house. For the first time I ordered a salad and was a bit disappointed as it was nothing special, could have been done better at home and for the price it is not worth it. However, the main dish was super good. I took the mix plate with lamb curry and 3 vegetarian dishes. It was super good and really filling.

As a african resturant you can try different drinks & food here. The athmosphere was good, you can be with your children or friends. I wasn't so satisfy of servise, we waited long time & finally we went and ask they got our order. Also i couldn't eat their food, i didn't like them but my friend liked. At the end i'll be happy with the drinks & price.

Ein schönes, gemütliches, äthiopisches Restaurant am Tempelhofer Ufer. 🇪🇹 Das Lokal ist sehr gut mit den öffentlichen Verkehrsmittel zu erreichen. Es gibt eine gute Speisekarte mit verschiedenen vegetarischen Möglichkeiten. 🌿 Das Essen wird frisch zubereitet und sehr schön angerichtet. Wir hatten eine Platte für zwei Personen in vegetarisch. Die Portion war gut, es war absolut köstlich und toll gewürzt. 👍🏻 Es wird auch das Essen to go angeboten. Wir haben uns auch schon mal vorab telefonisch was bestellt und es abgeholt. 🛍 Das Personal war sehr zuvorkommend und freundlich. Die Reservierung was online oder telefonisch möglich. Vor Ort konnten wir mit Karte oder in Bar bezahlen.

Wir gehen hier regelmäßig und sehr gerne hin! Allerdings darf auch ruhig mal renoviert werden, im Restaurantsbereich hat sich seit Jahren nichts getan…

Meine Familie und ich gehen seit ungefähr 25 Jahren dorthin. Essen ist authentisch und super lecker. Auch Gäste, die wir mitgenommen haben, waren sehr zufrieden. Alles in allem: Daumen hoch und weiter so machen.

Tiene una terraza y un interior muy bonito, con decoración de aire africano. Su carta es amplia, con varias especialidades etíopes y una muy buena carta de vinos. La verdad es que no fui muy original y me limité a pedir un rumpsteak y una cerveza Flensburger de 0,4 l. El rumpsteak estaba bueno pero bastante duro; venía acompañado de patatas fritas congeladas, ensalada y una mantequilla de hierbas dura como una piedra; como no pusieron pan, la mantequilla tampoco tenía mucho sentido. Además, la sal que pusieron era muy rara, mezcla de salada y dulce, no sé si es típica de Etiopía pero era rarísima y no le hacía ningún favor a la carne. Para terminar, un café Abyssinia, realmente horrible, y un cocktail Blue Nile, que no sé lo que llevaba, pero estaba buenísimo. La cuenta, 31 €. La atención, muy buena. Como novedad para probar algo exótico vale, pero la verdad es que no me convenció mucho; la carne, que estaba bien, bastante estropeada por ese sazonador parecido a la sal que sigo preguntándome que era y el café, como he dicho, horrible.

They never delivered and kept the money . I was robbed .

We ate outside. It was a little chilly, given the time and season, but the blankets helped. So did a cappuccino with a tot of whiskey. ;-0 The food was lovely. A variety of beautifully seasoned meats, vegs, lentils, on vinegary flat bread (sort of a pancake for Americans). You use the bread and your fingers to eat. A little messy but fun. Last year I had a mango beer, served in a gourd. Loved it. There are other flavors too. This year I wanted something warm. Another great Berlin food experience!

It was all great at first (4star) then getting check was hairy, tried to charge $10 extra for card until I noticed. Other than that food was great, waiter was awesome, company was great. Miss my grandma, and wanna go have fun on this full belly !

Worst experience I've ever had ordering food. We ordered the vegan plate for 2 on Lieferando. 1) The salad didn't exist at all. 2) There were 2 spoons of each of the other curries - not even enough to feed one person 3) Everything was cold when it arrived. When I called the restaurant I got the response that this is the way it's usually being sold. Then they just hung up. STAY AWAY!!!

Essen wird auf einem sehr sauren Fladen serviert uns wurde irgendwann die Säure zu dominant. Auf der Karte gibt es nur ein Glas Wasser oder eine Flasche. Als wir dann ein "großes Wasser" bestellt haben, gab es plötzlich ei Glas. Nach einer Reklamation gab es dann aber problemlos das Wasser. Die Speisekarte ist sehr chaotisch und unübersichtlich. Fazit: Zum ausprobieren okay, wir würden aber nicht wieder kommen.

Das Blue Nile ist ein Ort an dem man sich wohlfühlt. Eine unübertreffliche Gastfreundschaft die äthiopische Kultur mit dem Genuss des gemeinsamen Essens verbindet. Frisch gerösteten Kaffee und ein kühles Bananenbier gehören zu kulinarischen Höhepunkten. Das Besteck kann man getrost zu Hause lassen denn das Essen wird von Hand verzehrt und zum Schluss wird vom hausgemachten vodka-on-ice probiert. Ein authentisches Erlebnis.

Das Essen war sehr gut. Das Personal war sehr nett und hat sich auch um den Gast gekümmert. Sehr angenehme, ruhige Atmosphäre. Empfehle es jedem weiter der mal in Berlin ist und komme wieder wenn ich mal wieder in Berlin bin. Einfach Top.

Habe gestern dort gegessen. Es war sehr gut.Freundliche Bedienung es war alles sehr sauber .Ein Stern Abzug weil für Theke und Service nur zwei Leute. Sie waren etwas überfordert.

My teenage son and I had a very enjoyable meal here. The food choice was good and we enjoyed the mixed platter for two. The host and staff were very friendly and the dinner was very good value. Recommended for a casual dinner, eaten the authentic way without cutlery! Make sure you taste the coffee afterwards...

Fantastische leckeres Essen. Der Außenbereich ist leider sehr laut durch den Verkehr. Dennoch klare Empfehlung für alle, die mal äthiopische Küche probieren wollen!

When you can’t eat any more pork knuckle or doner kebab, stop in to the Blue Nile for some delicious Ethiopian food. We ordered one of the kombination platters for 2 people plus an additional side of peas with cottage cheese. The portions are generous and we couldn’t exactly finish it all but we wanted to. The cocktails are very nice (planter’s punch and black baby) and the Ethiopian beers go perfectly with the meal. Definitely recommend this little spot off the beaten path for something delicious and different in Berlin!

Wer etwas Neues kulinarisches ausprobieren möchte, wird das genau hier finden. Äthiopisches Essen traditionell zubereitet und sehr lecker. Es wird zudem so schlicht und einfach wie dort serviert was den Flair betont. taste and enjoy it

Außen sehr unscheinbar, aber innen mit authentisch äthiopischer Atmosphäre und entsprechender Musikuntermalung. Gegessen wird per Hand mit Fladenbroten, was zwar fettige Finger bewirkt, aber mir persönlich viel Spaß bereitet hat. Traditionelles DjuDju-Bier wird in Kokosnussschalen serviert, was ebenfalls ein Erlebnis ist. Das Essen hat uns allen geschmeckt, wenngleich es einigen ruhig hätte etwas deftiger sein können. Die Qualität des Lammfleischs war hervorragend. Des Weiteren kann es vorkommen, dass bei Gerichten mit mehr Sauce das Fladenbrot durchweicht. Leider war die Auswahl der Speisen sehr anstrengend, da die Speisekarte fürchterlich designt, mit zahlreichen Schreib- und Grammatikfehlern gespickt und mit schlechter Qualität gedruckt ist. Sie ist zudem riesig, aber völlig ungeordnet: die Nummern der Gerichte springen teils wild umher. Am schlimmsten ist die schwer zu lesende Schriftart, die nur aus den Außenrändern der Buchstaben ohne innere Füllung zu bestehen scheint. Der Karte mangelt es zudem an Erklärungen, bspw. was Injera ist, das bei vielen Gerichten auftaucht (Lösung: das Fladenbrot auf den Bildern). Hier besteht dringender Modernisierungsbedarf, um Kunden nicht abzuschrecken. Zum Glück weiß der gut gelaunte, äthiopische Besitzer sich zu unterhalten und Gerichte zu empfehlen. Traditionell teilt man Gerichte und würde daher Platten für mehrere Personen nehmen. Einen Stern Abzug gibt es für die wilde Speisekarte sowie die labyrinthischen (nicht barrierefreien) Toiletten, die die tolle Atmosphäre des Restaurants leider nicht aufrecht erhalten können. Hat man sein Essen aber erst einmal gewählt und ignoriert die Toiletten, wird man von einem gut gelaunten Besitzer begrüßt, in dessen Lokal man lecker und authentisch speisen kann. :)

Decent food for a relatively high price. But definitely worth the experience. We ordered a vegan shared platter and it arrived pretty much immediately - which gives the sense that the food is already prepped. Nonetheless, it tasted quite nice. The restaurant setting itself is quite nice and especially a solid experience for building closer ties in larger groups.
