We came spontaneously. Even though the place was packed to the ceiling, we decided to eat there anyway. The service was relaxed and friendly. A bit too attentive for us but nothing bad :) Food arrived relatively quickly considering it was so full. There was a lot of injera, the typical Ethiopian bread, which was very good. The only thing we really have to criticize was that the portions of the main courses were relatively small. We liked it so much that we would have liked more of the aromatic sauces and such instead of ordering a new dish straight away. 🤤

Sorry but this is not good food for Ethiopian taste. Everything tasted the same, the meat, sega wet, was chewy and the whole vibe didn't just look so clean place. I wouldn't go back for sure.

Today we spontaneously visited Lalibela. Unfortunately, I was very disappointed with the food. Traditional spices are not used. Everything tasted more like lentil stew (I've eaten Ethiopian food often and a lot). The staff was cold and distant. The atmosphere is small & cozy. Overall, I would definitely not recommend it anymore, sad visit to the restaurant.

The ambience was very well done and the service was exorbitant. The food was also pretty good and yeah...... I can only recommend avocado 🥑 with honey salad

I’ve been to this restaurant some time back and I remember the food to be quite good. The food this time was cold and service slow. On pointing out the cold food, the server brought extra curry to be put on top of the cold chicken, only on further insistence, the chicken was replaced. I’m a bit disappointed and would avoid coming back. Such a shame.

Service didn't care about your work. Food was okay, but unfortunately not a culinary delight at all. It was a little carelessly done. There is still room for improvement here and plenty of it, in all areas.

Very tasty vegan food, good wine and cute interior. They placed us on a desk with a used ashtray and never emptied it. But apart from that everything was super.

Such a great spot in Berlin! Not only do we eat here often ourselves, we always take friends and family visiting to try and they’re always as in love with it as we are. Last time we asked for a big spread with a mix of all vegan options and it was as delicious as it was beautiful. A must try.

Worhout any doubt this is the Best Ethiopian Restaurant in Berlin...Food was so tasty, service excellent and great atmosphere.

The menu seen here is 5 years out of date and appears to have not been removed or replaced to make it look like a cheap restaurant. In fact, this is a relatively expensive restaurant. The cash register didn't work and the staff, who barely spoke German, made it difficult to send the bill by email.

I was impressed by the authenticity of the food! It’s just like you’re in Ethiopia! Our server was really nice! And it’s a good amount of food too! If you’re interested in this culture, go there!!And now my belly is 110% full😁

Unfortunately I cannot recommend this restaurant. In particular, the unfriendly and inattentive service has meant that we probably won't come here again. Just a few examples: Apparently we didn't have a reservation, so the six of us had to squeeze into a very small table. You couldn't order the three starter salads. And unfortunately the beer was also out. I then asked for a glass to drink with the children's bottle of water. But I had to wait 30 minutes for that and even when the food arrived I still didn't have the opportunity to drink anything. Only when I asked again could a glass be brought to me. Unfortunately, the service staff gives you the feeling of being a nuisance all the time and they had no interest in you enjoying your time there. Unfortunately, I can't judge how authentic the food is. Overall I found it all a bit bland. But if it's that typical, then I don't want to criticize it here. However, a quick look into the kitchen on the way to the toilet doesn't give you a good feeling. You can do it to get an impression of Ethiopian cuisine, but you certainly won't miss anything if you don't.

Food was ok but what really annoyed me was the lack of kindness and service. They literally treated us in a rush even though the restaurant was open for more than 1 hour and when we ask for basic stuff as glasses , napkin , etc they were really rude. Even when asking for the check .

Disappointed here for the second time. Even if the individual dishes (ordered in "combos") are actually quite tasty, they are cold, at most lukewarm, the egg is boiled blue, and the bread you use to eat with your hands doesn't taste good. It is very sour, also very cold and gets soggy too quickly. We didn't get any cutlery and actually wanted our own plates (one veggie, one with meat). When we asked why everything was served together on a large plate, the waitress simply disappeared inside without a word according to the motto "my name is Hase, I know about it nothing". Very unfriendly, "not in the mood" attitude, she was also totally weird towards a guest next to us who was eating alone, stood next to him and looked at him the whole time, if he started friendly small talk, she walked away. Funny. 22€ per person (Drink €5; face €15.50). Plus a small, dirty bathroom (for all customers to wash their hands before and after, no wet wipes or similar), I won't let myself be persuaded to do this again.

Very nice staff! The food was very tasty 😋 the bread wasn't my thing but tastes are different. Price was okay for 2 people 48 euros plus drinks and the food was more than enough. Thumbs up!

I would prefer if the portion was smaller and a little cheaper. And a glass of sparkling water was 4.5 euro!? The food was very tasty. Only cash is allowed here. We had the food packed for taking away as we couldn’t finish. And I just realized at home it included the chicken bones that I just fished in the takeout box 😂

I know almost all of the Ethiopian restaurants in Berlin and this one is one of the weaker, lower third. The food is okay, but elsewhere it's much better and more authentic. It is the most expensive one I know of. Ambience is squashed, narrow and somewhat oppressive. Unfortunately I don't like it either. If you happen to pass by here and eat, you can do it. It is definitely not an insider tip.

Six of us reserved a table for the evening. Due to the really small space, we initially waited outside until we were called inside. I think the selection of dishes is good, but I would like to know that the dishes (at least the vegetarian ones) are eaten cold. Eating with your hands is a very grounding feeling, of course there would also be cutlery. The pancake-like bread with which the food is combined tastes slightly bitter, probably of yeast, but in combination the taste is neutral. Despite the restaurant being full, we only waited about 25 minutes for the food. Communication with the service was sometimes difficult due to the volume, but everything was managed well. Payment is only possible with cash. All in all, an eventful meal.

Just a word, wonderful!!! If you have no hands you can't eat ahahah

BEWARE, Water tax!!!! The food is really good. But the restaurant itself is very cramped, with tables on top of each other. Unfortunately I fell victim to what other reviewers have mentioned: I ordered a glass of mineral water, which is shown on the menu as costing 2 euro, only to be charged 4.50 for it. This was shown on a handwritten receipt, not an official printed one with tax info. And I’m almost sure it was tap water based on the taste. Unfortunately my husband requested and paid the bill while I was in the bathroom, and i didn’t want to make a fuss so we just left it. But it left a really bad taste in my mouth. Lalibela, please be reasonable, it’s not normal to charge so much for tap water. If you’re going to serve water, serve it directly from a bottle and be transparent about the prices on the menu. Don’t punish good, paying customers. It’s unkind and unfair. We will never go back here again.

The food was mediocre and our treatment as guests was subpar. At the first attempt our reservation didn't work out and we were turned away. A day later it worked. After we had finished eating, the bill was placed on the table without being asked and without comment. Payment is only possible in cash and it doesn't say that anywhere. We then put the money in the wallet and the pressure for a tip was so insistent that we had the remaining money handed over to us. Yesterday the waitress spoke perfect German, but not anymore. We won't eat here anymore!

I didn't like it here, although I really like the Lalibela in Kreuzberg. The food was generally delicious, but the bread was strangely lighter and significantly more sour than in the branch in Kreuzberg. The service was friendly, just unnecessarily slow. But what bothered me the most is that this branch here on Herrfurthstrasse has no ambience at all. It's not a restaurant, but a tiny, cramped and dark snack bar, the tables aren't set up, the toilet is dingy. If we hadn't been so hungry, we honestly would have left. Somehow fitting for the run-down area 🙈 €20/person for food + drink is not justified for this atmosphere. Oh and the menu also has various errors, please revise.
