Lalibela Ethiopian Restaurant Berlin in Berlin

My friend, who is a vegetarian, and I went to Lalibela for dinner. The friendly server said she would bring us a vegetarian dish and a meat dish. This made ordering easier, but when we asked what exactly she was offering, we received no answer. We couldn't read the menu because we didn't have our reading glasses with us. The food was tasty and plentiful, but the bill was unfair. Even though the food was delicious, I would have liked the server to tell me about the dishes, what makes them special, how they are prepared, what ingredients they typically contain, and which region they come from. The fact that they are eaten with your hands, etc. In other restaurants where you eat with your hands, you are served warm, moist towels before and after. Here, you get a paper napkin with your meal and are given strange looks if you ask for cutlery. We were charged €4.90 for a 0.3-liter glass of water and the same for a 0.3-liter glass of cola. The bill stated that the glasses were 0.4 liters. I should have protested, but I decided not to go back. Overall, I felt treated without any care and ripped off; it wasn't about the customer.

I’m befuddled by the good reviews. Did the price of salt go up? This was like a German Temu version of Ethiopian food. I’ve had home cooked Habesha food for 20+ years, excellent dining experiences in Little Ethiopia in LA, hell I’ve even had good Habesha food cooked by a Greek man in Athens—Lalibela was by far the worst Ethiopian food I’ve ever had. For the price I expect the authentic flavor profile, not a currywurst version of Doro Wot, etc. They didn’t even offer beets.

We were there last year, it was very crowded in limited space. The presentation of the food is larger than the food themselves, and one time experience is enough. They couldn’t provide invoice on set that night, but promised sending us by email and ensured us no problem and no worries. We’ve never received an email from them in the end.

First time having Ethiopian food so cannot say I have a reference point. The food was still good but didn't really hit the spot.

the beef is very hard and dry. so I don't recommend the dish with beef. Ordered and waited almost one hour for the food to be served.

It was a good experience. Very different type of food. It was recommended to us by a friend and we enjoyed our food. They take only cash and we only came to know when it was time to pay. Vegetarian dishes were one time try but my friends really enjoyed the meat based dishes.

A while ago, I was at Lalibela on Herrfurtstrasse in Neukölln and ordered something I'd never eaten before. I just wanted to try it, but I didn't really like it. Sour bread as a side dish isn't my thing.

Cool restaurant. Just something different. Super tasty and absolutely affordable. Please note no card payment possible. But there is a vending machine around the corner

The vegetarian combination is really delicious, you eat it with your hands and the traditional dough, which is a real experience and tastes special. Unfortunately it is very narrow and sometimes a bit noisy to really enjoy it. You should make a reservation in the evening to guarantee a spot.

A very good food experience in the heart of Berlin

The waitresses were super friendly and gave us very good advice when choosing dishes. The food was super tasty. At the end there was Ethiopian coffee on the house.

I reserved a table for 6 people, arrived on time, and the waitress said there was no table available even though the reservation was confirmed. Afterwards they offered us a place outside for a maximum of 4 people, which was not suitable for us because of the cold. We had to look for another restaurant. If they cannot fulfill reservations correctly, they should reconsider this service. It is very inconvenient not to get a table with a confirmed reservation.

Die vegetarische Platte: je 1 Esslöffel Linsen, Grünkohl, Sauce, 2 Kartoffelviertel und wirklich auch 1 EL Salat mit den luftigen Fladen für 20€ - nicht mal lauwarm serviert. Dazu die Rechnung auf einem handgeschriebenen Zettel …. D.h. der Verbrauch wird geschätzt und nicht jede Zahlung wird steuerlich abgerechnet! Keine befriedigende Mahlzeit, Einmal und nie wieder.

El espacio del restaurante es bastante normal pero acogedor. La comida es solo promedio, no demasiado especial. El servicio también está bien.

Unfreundliche Bedienung, die uns nach 1.20 Stunden aufforderte das Restaurant zu verlassen, weil jetzt andere Gäste kämen. Essen war mittelmäßig - Die Kasse "kaputt". Eher Schnellimbiss Atmosphäre. Schade und nicht empfehlenswert.

This place was extremely disappointing. The moment you walk in, there’s a strong smell of mold, which is immediately off-putting. The cleanliness is clearly lacking, and it sets a bad tone for the experience. None of us enjoyed the food or the atmosphere. The bread, in particular, was a huge letdown—it felt like eating food on a flavorless crepe. The overall dining experience was very unpleasant, and we left feeling dissatisfied. What’s even more frustrating is that most of the glowing reviews seem fake. If you sort the reviews by the most recent, you’ll notice numerous suspicious accounts giving it 5 stars. Even the promotional videos appear misleading and don’t reflect the reality of the place. I definitely don’t recommend this restaurant. Save your time and money and choose somewhere else for a better experience.

We came spontaneously. Even though the place was packed to the ceiling, we decided to eat there anyway. The service was relaxed and friendly. A bit too attentive for us but nothing bad :) Food arrived relatively quickly considering it was so full. There was a lot of injera, the typical Ethiopian bread, which was very good. The only thing we really have to criticize was that the portions of the main courses were relatively small. We liked it so much that we would have liked more of the aromatic sauces and such instead of ordering a new dish straight away. 🤤

Sorry but this is not good food for Ethiopian taste. Everything tasted the same, the meat, sega wet, was chewy and the whole vibe didn't just look so clean place. I wouldn't go back for sure.

Today we spontaneously visited Lalibela. Unfortunately, I was very disappointed with the food. Traditional spices are not used. Everything tasted more like lentil stew (I've eaten Ethiopian food often and a lot). The staff was cold and distant. The atmosphere is small & cozy. Overall, I would definitely not recommend it anymore, sad visit to the restaurant.

I’ve been to this restaurant some time back and I remember the food to be quite good. The food this time was cold and service slow. On pointing out the cold food, the server brought extra curry to be put on top of the cold chicken, only on further insistence, the chicken was replaced. I’m a bit disappointed and would avoid coming back. Such a shame.
