I highly recommend it; the dishes are delicious, authentic, and always seem to be freshly prepared. The interior isn't very large, but the outdoor area is spacious enough.
We visited Choi on Sunday for the 6-course menu to celebrate my boyfriend’s birthday. We specifically chose this restaurant because it’s small and we hoped for a cozy, intimate evening. Unfortunately, our experience was quite the opposite.
The atmosphere was far from relaxing. A family with a crying baby and loud teenagers asking endless questions created constant noise, making it very difficult to enjoy the dinner. While I understand this is not entirely the restaurant’s fault, it ruined the cozy setting we had expected.
As for the food — it was disappointing. The pork belly was unappetizing, and I was grateful I could switch to the fish option. The pork ribs were extremely dry and tough, with little to no flavor. The dessert was equally underwhelming: just a spoon of cheese with some jam. Ironically, the small birthday dessert they brought my boyfriend as a surprise was far better than what was on the actual menu.
The only positives were the friendly attitude of both the waiter and the chef, who even apologized for the noise. That’s the reason I’m giving 2 stars instead of 1. Sadly, the food and atmosphere did not live up to expectations, especially for a special occasion.
Solomon was so amazing and made our night so magical. We are on holiday and I can honestly say this experience made the whole holiday for us! He made us feel so welcome and the food was amazing. He is making the place what it is! Thank you so much :)
Nothing beats crispy tofu!
All the dishes we tried were delicious! The large bowls of soup are also excellent.
The value for money is exceptionally good! (A water for €1!!! No one else serves that.)
The cheerful service always puts you in a good mood.
I ordered food here and unfortunately it was a completely dissatisfying meal. The vegan pho tasted extremely bland, without any hint of spices whatsoever. I didn’t receive any fresh herbs/chill/lime neither, so nothing to improve the flavor. The summer rolls I ordered were supposed to come with lime sauce, which I haven’t received. They tasted very bland as well, without any herbs like cilantro, basil etc, or anything that could bring any flavor, just lettuce. The worst Vietnamese food Ive had in Berlin, and I have tried many places.
The menu is fusion between Japanese classic to some modern combination. We got English menus with not updated prices that we found out in the bill. The waitress was very rude even it wasn’t our fault. Finally they partially reduced the bill, but it was unpleasant experience.
