Ajanta in Berlin

Es ist nicht das größte Lokal, die Tische stehen recht eng beieinander, aber das führt auch immer wieder zu lustigen Gesprächen mit anderen Gästen. Das Essen ist super lecker und für den aufgerufenen Preis der Speisen absolut fair. Wir sind noch nie hungrig nach Hause gegangen! Das Personal ist wirklich freundlich und zuvorkommend. Kartenzahlung ist leider nicht möglich, nur mit Bargeld. Ebenso ist ein Lieferservice nicht verfügbar, aber es kann per Telefon vorbestellt und selbst abgeholt werden. Das ist meiner Meinung nach sowieso aus diversen Gesichtspunkten schöner. So hat man wenigstens noch etwas Interaktion mit der freundlichen Belegschaft.

Sehr gutes Restaurant! Das Essen ist preiswert und schmeckt hervorragend. Besonders beeindruckend sind die günstigen Preise: Das Chicken Curry kostet nur 7,90 € und das Lamm Curry nur 8,90 €. Dieses Angebot gilt den ganzen Tag. Die Qualität der Speisen ist sehr gut, die Portionen sind großzügig und der Service ist freundlich, aufmerksam und schnell. Für mich ist es eines der preiswertesten Restaurants in Berlin. Ich bin sehr zufrieden und komme gerne wieder. Klare Empfehlung!

Leckeres Essen, guter und freundlicher Service!

Fantastisches Essen und exzellenter Service. Der Duft lockt einen schon an, bevor man das Schild sieht.

Wir sind von unserer letzten Bestellung zum Mitnehmen äußerst enttäuscht. Wir sind seit Langem Stammkunden und waren bisher immer sehr zufrieden. Normalerweise bestellen wir Gerichte von der veganen oder der regulären Speisekarte und fragen ausdrücklich nach, ob Gerichte der regulären Speisekarte vegan zubereitet werden können – bisher gab es damit nie Probleme. Dieses Mal haben wir mehrmals telefonisch nachgefragt, ob die gewünschten Gerichte vegan zubereitet werden können, und uns wurde dies zugesichert. Als wir das Essen abholten, war jedoch kein einziges Gericht vegan. Alles war mit Sahne und Käse zubereitet und eindeutig vegetarisch, nicht vegan. Besonders enttäuschend ist der Umgang mit der Situation im Nachhinein. Als wir zurückriefen, um das Problem zu schildern, wurde uns, anstatt den Fehler einzugestehen oder eine Lösung zu versuchen, lediglich gesagt, wir sollten „von der veganen Speisekarte bestellen“, und das Gespräch wurde beendet. Leider bietet die vegane Speisekarte nur eine sehr begrenzte Auswahl an Gerichten, weshalb wir im Vorfeld gefragt hatten, ob die anderen Gerichte angepasst werden könnten. Wir bestellen in diesem Restaurant sowieso meistens Essen zum Mitnehmen, da es dort leider nicht sehr angenehm ist. Die Küche ist komplett offen und direkt neben dem Gastraum, aber es scheint kaum oder gar keine Belüftung zu geben. Dadurch riecht das ganze Restaurant – und auch die Kleidung danach – stark nach Kochdünsten und Fett. Fehler können passieren, aber mehrmals zu bestätigen, dass das Essen vegan ist, und dann genau das Gegenteil zuzubereiten – gefolgt von abweisendem Kundenservice und dem Auflegen am Telefon – ist wirklich inakzeptabel, insbesondere für treue Stammkunden.

Phänomenales Preis-/Leistungs-Verhältnis. Sympathische, immer freundliche Bedienung. Essen ist meist sehr schnell serviert. Für Veganer gibt es eine eigene vegane Speisekarte. Edit: Ich muss sagen dass ich teilweise Hemmungen habe, hier essen zu gehen, weil man teilweise ein schlechtes Gewissen gemacht bekommt, wenn man kein Trinkgeld gibt. Ich kann verstehen, wenn die normalen Preise nicht ausreichen, aber ganz ehrlich, dann erhöht doch die Preise und bezahlt die Kellner besser.

Ich möchte nicht zu streng mit den Sternen sein, aber ich war von meinem Besuch enttäuscht. Das Essen war durchschnittlich und für das Gebotene recht teuer. Wir zahlten knapp 40 € für zwei Personen zum Mittagessen, ohne dass es Mittagsangebote gab. Der Service war relativ freundlich, aber ich war überrascht, dass mir 0,70 € für einen dünnen Plastikbecher mit Alufolie berechnet wurden, als ich darum bat, meine Reste einzupacken. Ich wohne ganz in der Nähe des Restaurants, werde aber aufgrund des Preises und vor allem der zusätzlichen 0,70 €, die mir nicht vorher mitgeteilt wurden, wahrscheinlich nicht wiederkommen.

5/5 Sterne für das Mutton Tikka Masala. Super lecker!

Ich bestelle bei Ajanta immer etwas zum Mitnehmen, weil ich gerne zuhause zu einer Serie esse und das Essen ist jedes Mal super lecker! Das Personal ist auch super freundlich und die Zubereitung geht schnell :) Preis-Leistung ist super fair und man bekommt eine echt großzügige Person für wenig Geld :) Die Verpackung zum Mitnehmen ist auch super! Ich komme super gerne hier her :)

Wir haben Chicken Tikka zum Mitnehmen bestellt, es war total fettig. Es hatte kaum Geschmack oder Gewürze, was wir als Inder bei indischem Essen erwarten. Das Biryani war gut, aber das Chicken Tikka war enttäuschend.

Vor einer Woche mit einer Freundin hier gegessen, das Chicken Curry war ganz gut, die Luft war erfüllt mit indischen Gewürzen, musste deshalb oft etwas Husten, aber das kommt davon, dass ich damit nicht großgeworden bin. Und außerdem weiß man dadurch, dass sich die Küche hier Mühe gibt. Ansonsten empfand ich das Ambiente sehr angenehm und gemütlich, an einem Samstagnachmittag um ca. 16:30.

Das Essen und die Preise sind gut. Es gibt gefühlt zu viele Tische im Lokal, es wirkt überfüllt. Man kann nur bar bezahlen, was oft darauf hindeutet, dass die Steuern nicht ordnungsgemäß abgeführt werden. Ihr Restaurant, ihre Regeln. Mein Geld, meine Regeln, und ich zahle gerne mit Karte.

Immer wieder gerne, wir sind begeistert, sowohl von den Qualität des Essens als auch von den Preisen, und on top noch sehr freundliches Personal. Gemütliche und authentische Atmosphäre, breit ausgestellte Speisekarte, es gibt sogar einen extra vegane Speisekarte. Wir kommen immer sehr gerne her.

Gutes und leckeres Essen zu vernünftigen Preisen. Die Samosas sind ein Muss.

Wir waren schon oft hier, weil das Essen sehr lecker ist. Preise sind angemessen (gut) - allerdings "nur" Barzahlung möglich. Die Bedienung ist zügig und nett. Wir kommen gerne wieder.

Schmeckt sehr gut. Wenn mich der Appetit überkommt kann ich hier sehr gut vor Ort essen oder mitnehmen. Bedienung ist sehr höflich, Bestellungen sind sehr zügig zubereitet.

The place is good. We use to order takeaway from here, but we had bad experience this time as there was something non veg in our malai kofta sabji... The restaurant was kind enough to provide us with another sabji again but for us it was a big deal being vegetarian. So if you are vegetarian please think twice and then decide on your own if you want to visit the place..

The food is consistently freshly cooked and delicious. The vegan menu is a huge plus. The vegan mango lassi is also impressive. The service is very friendly and quick. One small drawback: only cash payments are accepted. However, it's good that this is prominently displayed everywhere (including on the website), so you can be prepared accordingly. We'll be happy to return.

Still very good Indian food, very well seasoned, and a great selection. It's a bit small, and the kitchen is open, so your clothes do smell a bit afterward.

Ajanta offers authentic Indian cuisine with fair prices and service that turns many guests into regulars. Anyone who loves Indian food or wants to try it will find this one of the best places to eat. Criticisms: - Card payments are not accepted. - The restaurant is rather small, and it can get crowded during peak times.

We live in Köpenick and often see people sitting for hours with just a coffee. Today, at 16:30, my son wanted a Batura, so we stopped by. With only one customer inside, I decided to order two and even planned to tip. But the waiter—who seemed like the boss with his bossy attitude—immediately gave us a rude look. When the Batura arrived, he loudly scolded us, saying, “Next time don’t just order Batura and sit here. We don’t make money from it, and others might copy you.” This public humiliation, in front of other customers, was shocking. Eating the Batura took just 5 minutes, but those were the longest, most uncomfortable 5 minutes of my life. No tip. When my 4 y. son went to pay him, he didn’t even say goodbye—just started complaining loudly in Indian to the cooks with silly face saying “Batura, Batura.” which is mocking us obviously. It was the worst service I’ve ever experienced. That rude attitude and “stinky” expression? Never again as long as the male boss is there.

Whether during the week or on the weekend, the food is always delicious and plentiful, and the prices are moderate. The waiters are very polite, attentive, and yet unobtrusive. Overall, I found my visit very pleasant, with truly fair prices.

The best Indian food ever; the entire staff is extremely friendly and helpful. Not too pushy, but attentive. You can always order more rice if you run out. Takeout was always great too; I called 10 minutes in advance and picked it up. The food is always prepared super quickly. Edit: There's now an even wider selection here, including vegan dishes. Even after many years, friendliness, quality, value for money, and speed are still top priorities here.

I've rarely eaten such good Indian food. Next time I'm in the area, I'll definitely come back. Update: I've been here five times in the last three years and I'm impressed every time. Whenever I'm in Berlin, I always come here. This is the first time I'm trying the coconut lassi with rum. It's also great.

We went there for birthday celebration but the behaviour of the owner was very disrespectful and the food was also not tasty even they didn't provide the cutlery. So, I'll never recommend this restaurant to anybody

The food isn't like it used to be. I've been eating at Ajanta for over a year, but lately the quality hasn't been what it used to be. Today I ordered a chicken curry. One side of the food container was full of rice, but the other side of the curry was just slivers and not full. The curry was very runny, and there wasn't enough meat.

The best Indian food for miles around.

Unfortunately, the biriyani was a big disappointment. First of all, the cook seriously needs to learn what a real biriyani is supposed to taste like. Maybe he should try it himself before serving it to customers—or better yet, serve it to the restaurant owners too. They deserve to know what’s being sold in their name. Honestly, I would recommend they visit another restaurant just once and taste a proper biriyani. That might help them understand where they’re going wrong. In this case, it might actually be better to change the name of the dish altogether—because calling this "biriyani" is misleading.

An Indian who prepares everything fresh and can therefore cater to customer requests appropriately. I can only recommend him, as I've been to many Indian restaurants! I really like the fact that you can only pay in cash. I'm a fan of that.

It's my goto place for Indian food in Köpenick area

Four of us went there one Saturday evening. The service was exceptionally friendly and accommodating! The drinks and food arrived very quickly and were pleasantly hot. The sauces could have been a bit creamier, and the chicken curry could have used a bit more spice. The skin on the duck was very soft. The meat was generally super tender, and the portion sizes were decent. We really enjoyed the food, and the restaurant is small and cozy. :)

It's our favorite Indian restaurant in Köpenick. We call it the Mango Lassi restaurant because our daughter loves mango lassi. The food is pretty delicious and we highly recommend it!

A cute little Indian restaurant. Easy to reach from Köpenick, and the delicious food is prepared very quickly. Wait time is approximately 10-15 minutes for two dishes. The servers are always super friendly, and the prices are unbeatable. We love eating here, and if we need something quick, we'll gladly take it out. :)

Our visit to Ajanta was simply fantastic! The food was incredibly delicious – the lamb curry was a real highlight: tender, spicy, and full of flavor. The server was very friendly and attentive, and we immediately felt welcome. We will definitely be back and can only recommend Ajanta!

It's actually become one of my regulars; I eat there at least twice a week after work. Ajanta is more of a small bistro, so it might not be the best place for a romantic date. It's still cozy and pleasantly decorated. The value for money is unbeatable. The staff are quick and friendly, and the food is always delicious.
