Extraordinary 🥰 Thanks a lot for a lovely experience! I'll definitely visit again whenever I'll be in Berlin again. Mysore Masala Dosa, sambhar and all chutneys were excellent, gajar ka halwa (carrot halwa) the perfect treat for dessert, and omg! do try the ganne ka ras (sugarcane juice)! 🤩

Chicken saag wasn't all that great, rice and salad was good.

You can get a variety of Indian food here. 👍 Samosa chaat is the best dish here. You must must give it a try. 👌🎉 But I'm not satisfied with paneer paratha. 🫠

DAYLIGHT ROBBERY! Was here 2 months before with my girlfriend I want to comment about their dishonest practice. Accidentally paid €50 instead of €40 over their PayPal (which obviously included a 10% tip over a bill of €36). Once paid, the restaurant didn't give a damn even if it was a minute after paying and told us they cannot return it. The waiter said the owner will return the money and took my number. Did not bother to call. Contacted the owner over PayPal and still did not return the money. Clearly, they did not want to return the unearned money. If this is not robbery, I don't know what is. WHAT A SHAMELESS BEHAVIOUR! Such practices are questioning the honesty of these people running the business. Makes it even more difficult for me to tip these scammers. On top of this, the tables were not clean and spider web along the walls. No wonder why nobody was visiting here - huge place with all tables empty. At least, could have served their only visitors well. We would NEVER VISIT again and would NEVER RECOMMEND anyone reading this comment to visit. Editing to respond to the owner's comment - 1. Your employee told us card payment is not working but I can send PayPal to the owner's PayPal (Deepak Patil). 2. That's why I mentioned "Accidentally" 3. Your employee took my phone number and promised a callback and the owner will refund via the PayPal. Attaching screenshot for reference. Money was paid from my girlfriend's PayPal. Either your own employee has scammed you or you had no intention of returning that money even after taking our phone number and us following back to you. Either way, loss is customer's.

Swadishta Restaurant, Berlin: A Mixed Experience I recently dined at Swadishta Restaurant in Berlin and had a mixed experience. While the food was undeniably good, and the ambiance pleasant, there was an incident that left me feeling uneasy. I asked if it was possible to refill my water bottle with tap water since I was catching a long-distance bus after dinner. Surprisingly, I was told that I could only request this upon leaving the restaurant, which felt somewhat unwelcoming. It wouldn’t have been a problem if they had asked me to pay for the tap water—I would have gladly paid.

I live in the neighborhood and thought it was about time I gave this restaurant a try. When I first went in, I wasn't allowed to sit in the upper area, for whatever reason. Once downstairs, I was able to enjoy the magnificent spectacle of the waitresses who seemed to have nothing better to do than chill at the counter and constantly receive loud notifications. The dish I uploaded was a whopping 20 euros. Absolutely exorbitant for the portion. Sure, it was tasty, but I needed another sandwich right after. Toilets were in a class of their own – completely cordoned off like a crime scene. The sink wrapped with a trash bag. I said several times that I wanted to pay, but instead of a bill I was politely offered a coffee or tea, which I naively accepted. To my amusement, it appeared directly on the bill - very generous! In the end I paid using a QR code, which was on the table the whole time, but of course no one thought it necessary to tell me beforehand. Would have saved me a lot of time and nerves. Loved this place! The food was so authentic, it instantly reminded me of home. The flavors were perfect—nothing felt watered down or adjusted. The service was great too, super friendly and quick. Highly recommend if you’re craving a real taste of India!

On a 1st visit everything was delicious. But when we visit 2nd time we order thali is tasteless and not fresh. Than we ordered panner kadai but same like not taste all tomatoes sauce. # dispointed

They are very good in Indian chats but may not be all dishes you like. I ordered Chole Bathure after asking its authentic North Indian style or not. But I ordered and wasn’t good in taste, improvement needed in North Indian Authentic Dishes!!! Rest all good.

Must visit if want to visit typical Indian (especially Mumbai street food). We had ordered below items: Vada Pav: it indeed reminded me of vada paav from Mumbai. Though bun could have been little softer, it felt very dry. Pani puri: this one came with Chhole instead of ragada which is fine. But yeah it was upto the standard. Dahi Puri (SPDP as per the menu): which was also good. Aloo paratha: which was hot and stuffing was good. Daal soup (for a friend): he loved it. And Mango Lassi: it was delicious too. Kachhi dabeli was on the other part, was below paar. Wouldn’t mind missing next time.

We ordered from liefrando on sunday and we also payed almost 6 euro for delivery this is totaly waste of money from this restauarnt to order and yes we oder 6 items and 3 of them was missing worth 14 euros so its total waste of money and to oily food and very bad service even we called them for 6 times no one answered our call and in end they block my number is this your service and behaviuor about customers I ask liefrando for refund they said restaurant is not responding call So its clear that its totaly waste of money and no value for customers “ waste of money “ to order here never again

Really good taste of Indian street food. We tried Dahi puri, vada pav and dabeli, all of them were very tasty. Also ordered some variety of parathas.

Half of the items on the menu are not available. We ordered gol gappa, papdi chat and mix paratha - all very average in taste I guess that’s why the food is cheap here. Service is very slow. The server said this was a non rush day but they still kept forgetting things. I asked for the bill and they took over 20 mins to get the bill only after I followed up again. I wonder how they function on a rush day!

Very bad service. We had to wait long to pay and they did not have dishes we wished for. Then we ordered other food items and they were mediocre.

An Indian vegetarian restaurant that also serves Maharashtrian food. My eyes popped up as I hardly have seen that in Europe. Overall the taste and ambience is fantastic. Have patience and one will certainly enjoy the food.

We were on Saturday here and by mistake, we paid €50 instead of 40€ for a bill of €36.80 via PayPal, because, of course, it was not possible to pay by card. The employee promised to call the owner to refund the difference, but it never happened. Plus we didn't get a bill, very unprofessional.

The waiters are really nice and patient. The Pani Puri is very good as a starter for two and is more than enough to share. The paneer special from lunch has a slight, pleasant spiciness and is very tasty. 10 out of 10

Lovely Maharashtrian restaurant! The food was so authentic! I went right back to the cities in this central Indian state! The spices are great and every dish is something I could recommend! The SPDP is great! Good quantity The kolhapuri bhel hits the right notes and well spiced. The papri chat is fantastic. The shikanji is great too. The chilli chicken is very hot and great for someone who likes spice. The north indian thali is good with quantity enough for two persons. Negatives: they didn't have the Marathi thali or usual pav, both of which were dishes for which I was visiting the place. Also the LIIT was slightly weird. Tasted more like a long island without the ice tea! Overall great experience ! Truly helped me fulfil my Indian food cravings!

Amazing vegan food, as a vegan it can be hard to find traditional and authentic and good tasting Indian dishes in Berlin in a vegan version and this is what we found here :)

On the basis of excellent experience on an event with the food from the restaurant and reviews we selected the restaurant. Unfortunately it has been pathetic experience and didn’t look hygienic (spider net on the wall). The table wasn’t clean. I would rate the service as an average. We ordered mango lassi and salted lassi (salted one tasted quite well). Both came with 0,4 l size. I requested to get the small one after it came. The argument and discussion from the service was – you already ordered it. I said I didn’t order the big one – she answered rude you also didn’t order small, and insisted on keeping both. I answered that I know from all these restaurants that these are not made fresh, she can pour it back andbring the small ones. I didn’t order also the big one - she could have also asked while asking for the order. At the end of the day, she did it unwillingly and we found in the bill afterwards the bigger Lassi. The food had also a lot of oil which is also not unusual for these restaurants. It all - unfortunately very disappointing

We had a tasty meal, though the Misal we came for was unavailable despite being on the menu. The Bharli Vangi was good, but the Paneer was too spicy, and the Parathas were average.The staff was friendly. Overall, it was a good experience.

Fantastic food and very friendly staff. We reached very late in night when they had already closed the kitchen. Owner kindly opened the kitchen again for us and we were served delicious food. We were back at the place next day as well and were not disappointed with the service and food. Definitely recommended if you are fond on authentic vegetarian Indian food. Plenty of options to chose from as well so you can be sure to find something for everyone.

I love the food the atmosphere and most of all the service and staff.we were coming late at night after a flight and went there to see if it was open they were closed but the owner opened the kitchen and served delicious food.I would recommend this place if you are in the area and want authentic Indian food.

I ordered chole bhature today and I absolutely do not recommend the bhature. The chole was fine but the consistency of the bhature was like pani puri. Instead of having a stretchy consistency of a bhatura, it had a crumbly consistency. I assume excessive oil was put into the dough during kneading , since it crumbled into itself with every attempt of taking a bite sized portion. Even though I ate only half of the bhatura, I am already feeling sick with a stomach upset. Based on the other reviews, I assume the other dishes offered by the restaurant are good ( I didn’t try them), but I would definitely not recommend the bhatura.

Best India food in Berlin. Very good ambiance, service and food. Veg schezwan fried rice and Kohlapuri Bhel are the best.

August 2024 - This once used to be one of our favourite Indian restaurants in Berlin, but two visits this year unfortunately point to it having gone fully local : bland and fatty.

Vegetarian restaurant with a lot of delicious options. We tried the pani puri and vada pav based on the reviews and both were amazing!! We also got the hot and sour soup, Sev Puri Dahi Puri, and Papdi Chat and the yogurt was sweetly spiced very well! Must go!

Visited this place for lunch today. The ambience of the restaurant is nice and the staff is courteous. But the food was just alright. Fresh sugarcane juice is a must try!

Best Indian food in town. You don’t have to think , just come here and you will come here more often. Being an Indian , I can totally vouch for this.

The menu has a lot to offer, except meat of course as the restaurant only offers vegetarian dishes. There is enough travel, but otherwise my portion was very small and I was still hungry afterwards. The staff was super friendly. The places outside next to the street are not very comfortable.

A great tip for vegetarian cuisine The restaurant offers vegan and vegetarian cuisine. There's a lot to choose from and what I tried was really delicious. The ambience is very simple, the focus here is more on the food and not on the surroundings. If you like Indian food, this is definitely the right place

Yesterday, my husband and I dined at Swadishta, and unfortunately, our experience was far from satisfactory. The paneer Jalfrezi we ordered were excessively oily, making them very unpleasant to eat. When we expressed our concern to the waitress, she confirmed that this is how the dish is normally prepared. This was quite disappointing to hear. To make matters worse, we both fell ill the following night, which we strongly suspect was due to the overly greasy food. We hope the restaurant takes this feedback seriously and improves the quality of their dishes. For now, we cannot recommend this place.

They don’t care about allergies. When I mentioned allergies the server kept saying no nuts just cashew sauce… what?! That should have made me leave. The menu doesn’t accurately reflect the ingredients bc they don’t care. Must be management doesn’t care. Anyway, if you have no food allergies, the place is a nice neighborhood restaurant. Not five stars like make say. It’s nothing exceptional. Food is fine. Place is clean.

Scope for improvement in time taken for serving food

Good food, but very upset with the service and dish: Chole Bhature. Very oily, to the extent that you could feel the taste of friedness in your mouth. Have been a regular customer since 9-10 months, but very disappointed with the staff and the attitude towards the complaint.

Today I ordered food through online service, hoping to enjoy a delicious Indian meal at home. Unfortunately, the experience was quite disappointing. The Idli was ok, but parantha was bland. The most significant issue was the "tomato curry" base used in paneer jalfrezi. It tasted heavily processed and full of preservatives, lacking the rich, authentic flavors one would expect from proper Indian spices. This sauce felt more like a shortcut rather than a genuine representation of Indian culinary traditions. The paneer in my dish was particularly concerning; it was old and stale, far from the fresh and creamy texture that good paneer should have. Serving such substandard ingredients raises serious questions about the restaurant's commitment to quality and food safety. The use of artificial sauces and stale ingredients does not do justice to the rich and diverse culinary heritage of India. I hope the restaurant management takes this feedback seriously and makes the necessary improvements to their food quality. For those seeking an authentic Indian dining experience, I recommend looking elsewhere until these issues are addressed.

Enjoyed the food at Swadishta in Berlin. They customized for our infant to tone down the spice, yet packed in the flavors. Deepak, the owner really made us feel comfortable and at home.

Tandoori Paneer marinade was still fresh and it was not cooked . We ordered Daal Makhni that was not thick and buttery but tasted of just some garam masala spices and thin cream mixes together Naan was too dry Recommend Malai Kofta . It was good Service was fast and the ppl were courteous . The environment of was just ok , even though I could see the storage room being really shabby and not clean .

This place is in my rare finds list! Awesome, wholesome, absolutely fresh, not greasy, no preservatives, taste on point food, I couldn't wait to dig in, thus less pics, we ordered thrice as much. Lots of options to choose from. Yuvraj, was very attentive and accommodating to everyone's requirements, with a smile on his face, staff too was quite hospitable. A+ for highend service class. Would anyday drop in for authentic desi food and service, with apt quaint ambience. Must go!!!

Please keep up the quality, especially of the dosas. First times it was thin, the way it should be and how it’s served in India. But last time it was very thick and had nothing to do with dosa. If you lose your quality, you’ll lose everything because the interior isn’t very charming.

Great restaurant for vegetarian Indian food. We also ordered for our son’s first birthday party and specially requested food without onion and garlic. The chinese noodles were tasty!
