Highly recommended. Price/performance is right! All the staff are extremely friendly, courteous and always interested in ensuring that the guests are well. I'm thrilled and will definitely come back again. An absolute thumbs up.
Today we were guests with a larger group. Unfortunately when you come in it smells extremely like grease. The first service was moderately motivated, the second service, a younger man, was very, very nice and accommodating. Salad bar, from a can but ok. The main course, I had fried cauliflower schnitzel in champion cream sauce and fries. The fries were so bad it was like they were fried in 3 week old grease and it wasn't much better. Unfortunately. I thought it was a real shame. Some starters were not available and some digestifs were not available either. So it was ok on average but unfortunately not necessarily worth another visit!
We have repeatedly eaten delicious meat variants here.
The service is attentive, the prices are ok and the food is very tasty.
The ambience corresponds to a rustic inn.
After a long day at the Movie Theme Park, we decided on a nice local German dinner, and here we found this nice, cozy place. We were welcomed and nicely seated in the other section, which looks more ‘formal’, but I prefer the main section, which gives a more cozy feeling. We started with soups, Hühnersuppe, Zwiebelsuppe mit Käse überbacken, and Gulaschsuppe. The soups were tasty, especially Zwiebelsuppe mit Käse überbacken.
For the main course, we ordered Champignon Rumpsteak, Steakplatte for 2 persons, Dorade Royal, and Mediterraner Filetteller. They came with big portions, perfectly cooked and scrumptious.
We also had dessert Coup 2000 came with warm cherries, vanilla ice cream, and whipped cream, a super perfect hot and cold combination. We also ordered Gemischtes Eis mit Sahne for a good price.
All dishes were good, filling, and perfectly cooked. However, if you plan to go there, check out the price from the menu and bring enough cash 😁. If not, the lady owner will tell you to go to the nearby ATM to get some cash 💪🏻. The lady owner offered my boys and me a drink on the house while we waited for my husband to get some cash 😅 but we did not take it because we had enough 😁.
I would recommend this local small restaurant and their steak, fish, and meats are fresh and perfectly prepared.
The atmosphere is very quaint and rustic. The restaurant could be a little more inviting and brighter. The location in the immediate vicinity of the market square is good.
The food is good and plentiful. If you order one schnitzel, you even get two. You can also order unbreaded schnitzel if you want it. There's plenty of sauce on the side and it's rare, but I get full when I eat here. And at a reasonable price (under 20 euros).
Something that bothered me, however, was when I was eating there and came home when I noticed how much it smelled of fried oil. This is rather disadvantageous. As a layman, I wonder whether there is a vent in the kitchen or why this smell is not prevented in the dining room. You could definitely do it with simple measures.
Parking spaces are available within walking distance on the Main in just a few minutes.
It surprises me that Old Franconia somehow doesn't have a proper website. You get information about it from various other sites and have to look for everything. Including from Karlstadt city marketing, restaurant guru and others. It would be in the operator's interest to take care of an internet presence.
Great food at a reasonable price and really pleasant service.
I'll definitely come by again.
The only thing I don't like is the ambience and the toilets in particular could use some updating.
