Quite nice Greek food friendly conditions Was a nice evening

We have been here several times now and with different people. The food was always very good, both quality and quantity. The service was always very friendly. We therefore cannot understand why the restaurant is so unfrequented. In any case, we always come back and can only recommend the restaurant.

Current news 08/29/23: Unfortunately, the landlady didn't manage to keep the delicious, cozy shop running or continue to run it. And so the restaurant no longer exists. Really a shame. The food tastes amazing! Such delicious meat and the schnitzels are amazing. So if you like eating meat, this is the place for you. The landlady is so warm and accommodating, unfortunately the landlady (her husband) recently passed away (Dec 22). Let's hope that the landlady continues to run the restaurant, that would be a big loss for Remscheid if not. Wish her all the best and lots of strength! Regarding the ambience, I agree with most reviews that it is a pub restaurant. But that's not a bad or negative thing in any way, because it makes you feel more comfortable, it feels like you're going to friends' houses, you don't have to behave and dress as poshly as you would in a fancy restaurant. So everything has its advantages, just like everyone likes it.

We have a restaurant ourselves and if we ever manage to go to colleagues as guests, it should be something different than what is on our own menu every day - so let's go to the Greek restaurant! The Helena restaurant is a bit hidden and the dining room is not very large, but it is nicely decorated, clean, tidy and the rustic bar and decoration also convey the popular taverna charm. Not everything is very modern anymore, but that's okay - cleanliness is much more important to us as professionals, and there's nothing to complain about. Luckily we had reserved, it was relatively full and during the week (Wednesday evening 6:30 p.m.). The menu is manageable (positive!) but anyone who is looking forward to Greek dishes will definitely find what they are looking for. The prices are really reasonable for the food and especially the portions on offer. After ordering, we had the classic round of ouzo, iced. We had an appetizer platter for two, but it was easily enough for the four of us - two adults and two teenagers. There were various platters as main courses, it's always difficult to decide and so there's a little bit of everything. The garlic potatoes as a side dish were interesting, I've never seen them like this anywhere else. In my "Helena platter" the gyros were juicy and well cooked, the souflaki skewer with tender, lean meat was really tasty, the bifteki was a little dry and had a dark "grill pattern" but was also completely fine. All dishes were neatly presented and professionally prepared. For the four of us, however, the spice was missing, both on the meat and on the side dishes; the only thing that was really tasty (and therefore very dominant) was the garlic. The waiting time for the starter was okay at around 20-25 minutes, it was quite busy and the kitchen was probably busy. The waiting time until the main course was then quite short. The gentleman in service (probably the boss himself?) was very friendly and attentive from start to finish, always with a smile at our table, we felt very comfortable. Since I manage the service in my own restaurant and do it exactly the way I would like to be treated as a guest - everything done right, respect to my colleagues. In any case, we had a lovely evening as a family (on our 15th wedding anniversary, by the way) and can definitely recommend the Helena restaurant for a visit. Nice older gentleman who hosts. Simple restaurant...which doesn't have to be bad at all. Cheap prices in absolute terms. Were looking for a new potential favorite Greek and came because of the reviews. In fact, unfortunately we have never eaten so badly and actually felt disgusted. Visually unsightly and the meat was slimy. We have never experienced anything like this in a restaurant. We paid without hesitation and left our plates almost full. We will never come here again and do not recommend this to anyone

The food was fantastic! The bifteki, gyros and homemade tzatziki were particularly delicious. Everything was fresh and perfectly seasoned. The service was friendly and attentive. If you love Greek food, you should definitely stop by here.

The kebab doesn't work at all. The meat is the cheapest there is but still the best thing about the kebab. The bread was heated for 5 seconds and it was correspondingly limp. The salad was totally watered down, so everything was passed through.
