Something special. Next to the forest pool. A restaurant for day trips. Large terrace. Nicely decorated inside. I didn't eat anything. The coffee was very weak, though. Not good coffee. The staff was friendly. The location in the forest, the pool, and the adjacent campsite create a special atmosphere. Well suited for day trips.
Waited 1.5 hours for food. Two ramens arrived after 1.5 hours, and three other people at our table got their food after 30 minutes. We sat and watched them eat, or they would have had to eat something cold. Yeah.
There were two other tables right next to us that had the same experience. It's really not well done here.
The food and service were okay, but I think it's a shame that the "beer garden" is filled with loud party music even during the week from lunchtime onwards.
I proposed to my girlfriend in this chic restaurant. We came from Mannheim specifically to see the location because the view was heavenly. In any case, I was very, very positively surprised at how the employees dealt with the customers. They were very, very polite and friendly. I haven't seen anything like that in the whole of Rhineland-Palatinate. The decoration and organization were great, the food was indescribably delicious. Price-performance ratio was very, very good. Always my pleasure.
I would like to thank the staff again from the bottom of my heart for the efforts and to the Gourmet Club Coordinator Ms. Wolf for the top advice and for her help.
If I'm back in Cologne I'll definitely come back, that's for sure.
Addendum December 2024: Unfortunately, the pub is history again. Too bad and strange. Now try an Irish pub.
Schmitze Lang in the Vringsveedel in the southern old town of Cologne is very well positioned under new management. Food, Halver Hahn had to suffice this time, and drinks, of course Kölsch, were served quickly by courteous and affable staff, which is typical of such establishments. Likeable. Other guests' (drinking) behavior was very pleasant. Even real Cologne residents were among them. Very good ventilation system in an attractive interior design. Criticism: The incredibly ugly facade design unfortunately doesn't flatter the very nice pub lettering at all. This is where taste-safe experts should lend a hand again. But definitely stop by if you're nearby.
Everything was excellent from start to finish! The food was incredibly delicious, and I was truly impressed by the quality. The service was attentive, warm, and very professional. Guests feel completely at home here. I'm already looking forward to my next visit!
Such a disrespectful place!!! I saw many people getting inside, no entramce payed. When I wanted to enter, in a bad manner, a woman asked me for 5 euros. First warming alarm. I refused.
Then a German friend thought it was a misunderstood, so we tried again. This time the same (not)kind woman at the door asked for 15 euros!
I don't know why in this place they don't like my face or my image, cause I really look like them. I guess main difference is in behavior, I was raced to be kind and smart. 😊😊 and it's so clear they weren't.
They would reply any sad excuse to this comment, I won't answer. Just taking a look at comments anyone can see it's their way to proceed.
To finish in spanish: "cuando el Rio suena es porque agua trae".
We celebrated my daughter's 30th birthday at the Waldschenke - and it was just perfect! The organization ran smoothly, Mr. Müller gave me great advice on menu selection, and the food was a real highlight - simply masterfully prepared.
The service was great: attentive, friendly and always there. Our guests all loved it and we couldn't have asked for a better place to celebrate.
A huge thank you to the entire team!
I had the chicken shawarma poutine. The fries were excellent, as were the additional toppings except the chicken which was not very flavorful. I paid for a large order but it seemed to be the same size as a regular order. So it was good, but not great value.
