My best friend invited me to dinner at this gem yesterday. I didn't know it before because Schöningen isn't exactly around the corner. What should I write? It was so worth it. The restaurant is really small. Extremely comfortable and lovingly furnished. The service was incredibly polite and accommodating. The two service staff enjoy working there. The food: a dream. Really! It tastes so great, just like grandma's! The menu is small and the prices (you can't even write) are actually too low for today's times and the top quality. In addition, every guest receives “a greeting from the kitchen” before eating. We had small pancake rolls filled with salmon with hollandaise sauce. So one each. Mjammy! If you want to eat really good German again, you have to go to "Grandma" and: definitely make a reservation! To the whole team: THANK YOU FOR A FANTASTIC EVENING!

An excellent place to eat and have a great range of gluten free options. The hostess was extremely friendly and helpful. Restaurant is small and very friendly..lovely environment and atmosphere. Well worth a visit xx

Friendly staff. The food was delivered cold, though. We sat upstairs, and the atmosphere was reminiscent of the 90s.

We were looking for a restaurant near Schleusingen that didn't close between 2 and 5 p.m. That's how we ended up at the "Blockhaus." Secluded, surrounded by forest and nature, we received a warm welcome in this quaint restaurant. If you, like us, enjoy a rustic ambiance, good German cuisine, and cheerful hosts, this is the place for you. The food (venison goulash with dumpling fries and a salad) was absolutely delicious, and the value for money is unbeatable. We will definitely come back here on our next visit to Schleusingen and are already looking forward to it.

Good food with very friendly service.

We spent part of our Christmas party here and were really excited. Starting with the warm welcome, through the consistently very attentive and friendly service, to the MEGA food, everything was 100% perfect. In particular, the main courses such as steak and saddle of venison were so well prepared that they were second to none. Thank you very much for your hospitality! We will definitely come back.

We were there for lunch on Easter Sunday. The food is very tasty and the service is very friendly. We had rump steak, Jägerschnitzel and cordon bleu. My wife says that they have the tastiest steaks in Germany anyway... And she's probably not wrong 😅

Accidental discovery, it was surprisingly full at lunchtime on a weekday. Very good and tasty home-style cuisine, authentic and well-kept. Easily accessible from the motorway, bright dining room and modern, clean toilets. Overall, highly recommended!

Absolutely don’t recommend this place if you want to eat. The atmosphere is good, no complains about that. But the food is 1. Super overpriced 2. Tastes terrible. The service is ok, one waitress was really nice and kind, only good thing about our evening besides the atmosphere. Music is fine, but not very good either, a matter of taste. Overall I don’t recommend this place, for this money you can eat LOT better and with better atmosphere.
