AWAY, One of the worst restaurants I've been to!
Bland dishes, hard and disgusting old bread, the staff I don't even dare talk about..
They are slowing down under the pretext that they had a big service, but that's not my problem.
We don't offer dessert because they close in 10m, but dear waiters if you move a little instead of smoking outside or yelling in front of everyone maybe we would have had enough time to eat quietly and get out on time!
Seriously consider changing staff or bosses!!
Delicious food & relaxed atmosphere
We went to the Food Lounge Bergedorf and had an overall pleasant visit. The selection on the menu is diverse, from burgers to pasta to bowls – there is something for everyone. Our food was freshly prepared, tasted great and was beautifully presented.
The service was friendly and attentive, even if we had to wait a little at peak times. The ambience is modern and cozy, ideal for a relaxed dinner with friends or family.
Prices are a bit higher, but justified given the quality and presentation.
Conclusion: If you want to go out for a delicious meal in Bergedorf, you definitely can't go wrong here. We'd love to come back!
The 2 stars are for the nice ambience and the very friendly service.
We ate a vegan schnitzel and unfortunately the price-performance ratio of €22.10 wasn't right at all. Given the price, we expected the equivalent of a meat schnitzel: thinly pounded, really well breaded, etc. What we got were two small schnitzels that not only looked 1:1 like the Rügenwalder Mühle schnitzel, but also tasted the same. Side dishes were okay.
Well-kept guesthouse with an excellent price/performance ratio. Breakfast very good. The food in the restaurant is highly recommended. Here too a very good price/performance ratio. The waitresses are very nice and competent. Always my pleasure.
Excellent restaurant with first class dishes. The atmosphere invites you to relax. The holiday apartment is ideally equipped and contributes to a perfect holiday.
The food is presented very nicely. It wasn't the best sushi I've ever eaten, but it still tasted very good.
The waiters are very attentive and friendly, even when it's busy
Yesterday evening (February 15, 2025) the six of us gathered at the Ticino Grill, a restaurant that has been run by master chef Stefan Wöllstein for over 30 years. Registration was for 7pm, but when we arrived the table wasn't free and we had to wait a few minutes. The restaurant was full and we expected culinary highlights according to the reviews.
However, we quickly noticed that only one male waiter and one waitress who only cleared plates were responsible for the entire service and led to very long waiting times. The first big disappointment came after ordering: an impressive 1 hour and 12 minutes passed between entering the restaurant and receiving the 2 starters. The starters (the prawns were too garlicky) were eaten quickly, but when we pushed the empty plate aside we had to wait a long time again. It wasn't until 20 minutes later that the salad plate arrived - unfortunately the lamb's lettuce was already a bit mushy and looked as if it had been marinated for a long time. The wait had now lasted 90 minutes and unfortunately that is not acceptable.
After almost 2 hours of waiting, the main courses finally arrived: two sauerbraten, a pork loin with mushroom sauce, a cream schnitzel, a fallow venison goulash with spaetzle and a rump steak with chanterelle sauce (origin?). Unfortunately, the main courses contain some disappointments. The sauerbraten hardly had the sour note that one expected and seemed more like a normal braised meat. In addition, the amount of meat was quite lean, and both slices contained thick, inedible tendon. The red cabbage (or actually brown cabbage) was very overcooked, too fatty and rather too sweet. The potato dumpling was okay, but visually too dominant - two smaller dumplings would be more appropriate here instead of one giant dumpling.
In general the food was good, but there was room for improvement. The waiting time in particular is unacceptable
Before Mr. Wöllstein questions my expertise, I would like to mention that I also worked in the kitchen for 30 years, which can be credited to 22 years as head chef.
Unfortunately I have to deduct a star from the sauerbraten due to the disappointment. The waiting time costs 2 stars. The ambience only deserves 3 stars because EC card payments are not possible and the dining room seems a bit old, especially since the LED fairy lights in front of the entrance seem rather careless.
Parking is also difficult, but you can't blame the restaurant in the industrial area for that - it's just the location.
With friendly greetings from Hamburg
I don't actually write reviews, but here I was so excited that I jumped over my shadow:
The restaurant is familiar and cozy with a historical charm. The meals are transported to the floors via a manual pulley, which is also very interesting for my children. The food is good old German cuisine refined with modernity. The children were super excited and special requests were happily fulfilled. Yes, friendliness is very important to the staff. You can feel that you enjoy working here. Unfortunately, that's exactly what I've rarely experienced. Here they take the time for their guests and are very attentive, something I only know from upscale restaurants. If I'm in town again, a visit here is a must. Thank you very much and keep it up!!!
