We had a wonderful evening at Can VaRa, with very good personal recommendations for food and wine - and a perfect tip for a trip to the region including a hand-painted map.

The cooking here is outstanding! A great selection on the menu board with changing, seasonal starters, pasta specialties and fine meat and fish. Of course there are also delicious desserts and an excellent wine selection. Perfect hosts are at work here with a lot of passion for fine Italian cuisine. So, last Friday the three of us spontaneously went to the theater after a call asking if there was still a table available. My companion wanted to order Lupe de Mare from the waiter, but the waiter stated that he couldn't recommend the dish. My companion was then processed until she ordered salmon. The waiter assured her that she wouldn't regret it. My girlfriend wanted to order goat cheese salad. The waiter then said that he didn't know the dish, but he had only been busy for four days. When asked whether the salad also contained goat cheese because it wasn't listed in the ingredients list, the waiter seemed thoughtful. He then said something with carpaccio and that there was also goat cheese. Wild herb salad with goat cheese was then ordered. For my own part, I ordered a César salad with chicken. Until the dishes arrived, we received a free bread basket, five olives and an indefinable dip. The bread was nice and fresh. The food came soon. Apparently the salmon dish wasn't a bad decision. Instead of salad, my friend got a carpaccio made of something, topped with goat cheese in the middle and a mayonnaise grid over the carpaccio. Then there were four more piles of a jam-like substance on the plate. We suspected it was apricot or peach jam. Of course the whole thing had nothing to do with the dish we ordered. When asked about this, the waiter rambled something about... there was no salad left. Of course the dish went back and we got a salad with goat cheese with 2 piles of jam but without walnuts and honey and other vegetables. My dish, the Caesar Sala, consisted of a mountain of iceberg lettuce slapped together with some kind of mayo, or was it the dip from the bread. Top with grated cheese and dry chicken strips. After we had been sitting for 1.5 hours, the waiter just stood expectantly in the door, which gave the impression that he wanted to call it a day. When paying with the electronic payment device, he pulled on the receipt so hard that the device flew across the entire store. We will probably never know whether it was still intact afterwards, as we definitely won't be going there again. It's actually a shame, because the restaurant itself is new and beautifully furnished and you feel attracted to the space.

The marinated ricciola with porcini in the Primitivo was amazing! Super fresh fish, perfectly combined with the mushrooms – simply delicious. Not only does it look great, it also tastes really good. The service was also great: friendly, attentive and you immediately felt at home. Absolutely recommended! Fantastico🌟

Fries and tzatziki sufficient. But unfortunately there was a little bit of feta in my beftiki... It's a shame

Bre understands his craft but mayo on fries was at the limit. The Öppes behind the counter doesn't do much and often gets orders mixed up.

On the recommendation of a small group of people, we visited this beautiful restaurant. It has been recommended to me several times and I regret not having gone there earlier. First of all, the service was A+, very friendly, accommodating and funny. The tact in accepting orders was also spot on. 2. The food, we had a cold starter with all sorts of spreads... Everyone enjoyed it. (I have rarely experienced this so far) Afterwards we ordered octopus, calamari and shrimp. These were also very well hit and had a firm bite, but not rubbery. (also very rare) There were also various grilled cheeses, which were also really good and I'll order more of that next time. Main course, filet mignon, rib-eye & roast beef, what can I say... world class. The whole thing was rounded off with Greek beer and gin and tonic. Both very, very good. It was also very attractively presented. I added a picture of the gin. I would like to thank you very much for this great evening, the food was wonderful. We have become regulars.
