Primitivo in Düsseldorf

Ich bin absolut begeistert von meinem Besuch in diesem Restaurant in der Mauerstraße. Das Essen war durchweg hervorragend und bot eine wunderbare Kombination aus tollen Aromen und einer ansprechenden Präsentation. Besonders die knusprig gebratenen Garnelen und Calamari mit dem frischen Zitronenschnitz haben mich geschmacklich voll überzeugt. Man merkt bei jedem Teller, dass hier mit viel Leidenschaft gearbeitet wird. Alles war perfekt zubereitet und angerichtet. Ich komme sehr gerne wieder.

Wir waren zum ersten Mal im Primitivo und sind rundum begeistert. Der Service war unglaublich herzlich und aufmerksam, sodass wir uns vom ersten Moment an willkommen gefühlt haben. Die Getränke waren hervorragend und das Essen einfach außergewöhnlich. Alles war frisch, geschmacklich perfekt abgestimmt und mit viel Liebe zubereitet. Ein rundum gelungener Abend. Wir kommen auf jeden Fall wieder und können das Primitivo uneingeschränkt weiterempfehlen.

Wenn Sie in Düsseldorf ein Stück Italien erleben möchten, dann sind Sie hier genau richtig.

Eigentlich wollte ich das Primitivo nicht bewerten, weil solche Orte am besten bleiben, wenn sie nicht jeder kennt. Aber fair ist fair: Wer in Düsseldorf italienisch essen will und nicht nur Pizza, Sahnepasta oder Deko auf großen Tellern sucht, sollte hier hin. Im Primitivo merkt man, dass jemand morgens nicht einfach bestellt, sondern wirklich sucht: gute Fische, gutes Fleisch, saisonale Pilze, besondere Produkte, starke Weine. Und trotzdem fühlt sich der Abend nicht steif an. Der Laden lebt, die Teller kommen heiß, der Service weiß Bescheid und redet nicht unnötig drumherum. Man geht raus und denkt nicht “war nett”, sondern “wann gehen wir wieder hin?” Genau das passiert selten.

Der Laden war gut besucht, trotzdem lief alles entspannt. Für die Qualität fanden wir die Preise wirklich fair. So ein Restaurant, das man danach gerne weiterempfiehlt.

Im Primitivo merkt man sofort, dass hier Qualität ernst genommen wird. Klassiker wie Cacio e Pepe werden perfekt umgesetzt: einfach, klar, cremig, pfeffrig und ohne unnötigen Schnickschnack. Gleichzeitig gibt es saisonale Produkte wie Morcheln, Zucchiniblüten oder Kaisergranat, die frisch eingekauft und am Tisch kompetent erklärt werden. Genau diese Mischung macht den Unterschied: ehrliche italienische Küche, aber mit richtig starken Produkten und viel Können. Der Service berät ruhig und sicher, auch beim Wein.

Das Essen war ok, allerdings waren die Portionen sehr klein. Auf der Trüffel Pasta war kaum Trüffel und die war fast ausschließlich mit günstigem Trüffel Öl zubereitet. Mein sehr kleines Risotto war geschmacklich gut, allerdings war dort eine halbe quasi leere Garnele drauf für 30 Euro. Preis Leistung stimmt hier nicht.

Ich hatte im Primitivo den Pesce Spada und war wirklich zufrieden. Schwertfisch ist oft schnell trocken, aber hier war er schön saftig, gut gegart und hatte eine feine Röstnote. Die Beilagen waren schlicht und passend, nichts war überladen. Man schmeckt, dass der Fisch frisch und von guter Qualität war. Der Service war freundlich und die Weinempfehlung hat gut dazu gepasst. Insgesamt ein sehr gutes Gericht, das ich wieder bestellen würde.

Seit Jahren kommen meine Frau und ich immer wieder gerne ins Primitivo — und sind nach wie vor begeistert. Es gelingt dem Restaurant, Klassiker neu und kreativ zu interpretieren, ohne dabei die italienische Küche künstlich zu verfremden. Die Gerichte sind außergewöhnlich gut abgestimmt, die Qualität der Produkte ist konstant auf höchstem Niveau. Besonders macht den Laden aber auch die Gastfreundschaft: Der hervorragende Service und die Herzlichkeit der Besitzer sorgen dafür, dass man sich jedes Mal willkommen fühlt. Grazie mille per le bellissime serate e per la vostra ospitalità. Non vediamo l’ora delle prossime visite. Im Sommer ist zudem die Terrasse mit der langen Abendsonne ein echtes Highlight.

Wegen des Brasato komme ich wieder. Ich hatte das Brasato vom Galloway und es war einfach richtig gut. Super zart, voller Geschmack und mit einer Sauce, die perfekt gepasst hat. Ehrlich gekocht, ohne Schnickschnack. Genau so ein Gericht, wegen dem man gerne wiederkommt.

Top Top und Toppissimo.Man merkt sofort, dass hier auf beste Produkte geachtet wird. Die Küche ist kreativ, aber nie abgehoben alles bleibt unverfälscht.

Wir waren heute zum Esssen hier zu einem besonderen Anlass. Sekten habe ch ein so schlechtes Fritto Misto gegessen. Trocken hart, kaum genießbar. Nie wieder!!!!!

Das Galloway Carpaccio war super zart und fein abgeschmeckt, der Rochen auf Fregola danach einfach richtig stark. Alles wirkte frisch, stimmig und ohne Schnickschnack. Freundlicher Service, gute Stimmung, wir kommen gern wieder.

Das Essen im Primitivo ist ein Erlebnis für sich- das Ambiente war sehr schön, die Bedienung war freundlich, der Wein war top. Es ist ein gehobeneres Restaurant und ohne Reservierung schwierig einen Platz zu bekommen. Das Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis stimmt leider nicht, da es meiner Meinung nach zu teuer ist.

Nettes Ambiente mit allerdings viel zu engen Tischen, schlechtem Service und völlig überteuert. Typisch arrogante italienische Kellner die sich selbstverliebt mehr um sich als um ihre Gäste kümmern. Essen war allerdings ok.

Brasato vom feinsten und grandiose Desserts. Dazu eine exzellente Weinauswahl und professioneller und sympathischer Service. Grazie mille per una belissima serata.

Wir waren abends im Primitivo und ich hatte die schwarze Pasta mit Muscheln und Krustentier. Ehrlich gesagt habe ich beim ersten Bissen erstmal nichts gesagt, weil es einfach richtig gut war. Die Pasta hatte genau Biss, der Sud war würzig und voll Geschmack, und das Ganze wirkte frisch. Für mich so ein Ort, aus dem man zufrieden rausgeht und direkt weiß, dass man wiederkommt.

Primitivo gehört für mich zu den stärkeren italienischen Adressen in Düsseldorf. Die Küche wirkt hochwertig, saisonal und mit viel Gefühl gemacht. Besonders schön finde ich, dass hier nicht auf Effekte gesetzt wird, sondern auf gute Produkte, klare Aromen und eine sehr stimmige Weinauswahl. Der Service ist aufmerksam, kompetent und angenehm unaufdringlich. Auch das Ambiente ist stilvoll, ohne steif zu wirken. Insgesamt ein Ort, an den man gerne zurückdenkt.

Der Service war leider nicht besonders angenehm. Außerdem fand ich die Preise im Verhältnis zu dem, was angeboten wird, eher hoch, und die Auswahl auf der Karte ziemlich begrenzt. Insgesamt hat mich das Erlebnis leider nicht überzeugt.

Preis-Leistung im Primitivo hat mich ehrlich überrascht. Die Zutaten wirken wirklich hochwertig, die Portionen sind nicht kleinlich und man merkt, dass frisch gekocht wird. Wir sind satt rausgegangen, ohne dass es „schwer“ war. Dazu kommt eine gute Weinberatung, die nicht aufdringlich ist. Am Ende habe ich auf die Rechnung geschaut und dachte: dafür war’s echt fair.

War mittags im Primitivo in Düsseldorf und hatte das Risotto mit verdurine und Burrata richtig guter Lunch. Das Risotto war cremig, aber nicht schwer, die Gemüse frisch und knackig, und die Burrata hat dem Ganzen diese perfekte, milde Cremigkeit gegeben. Alles hat sauber zusammengepasst, ohne dass es überladen war. Portion genau richtig für mittags, Service schnell und freundlich. Für mich ein super Beispiel, wie gut „einfach“ sein kann, wenn die Qualität stimmt.

Das Tatar im Primitivo war wirklich Fleisch in Bestform. Super frisch, fein geschnitten und perfekt abgeschmeckt, ohne dass irgendwas die Qualität überdeckt. Die Trüffelspäne oben drauf waren nicht nur Deko, die haben dem Ganzen richtig Tiefe gegeben. Dazu die kleinen Details am Rand wie die Creme und die Kräuter, alles sauber und stimmig. Man merkt sofort, dass hier mit Top-Produkten gearbeitet wird und jemand genau weiß, was er tut. Für mich definitiv „Carne cruda“ der Extraklasse

Absolut fantastisch. Von der schönen Menükarte mit toller Auswahl, über den empfohlenen Wein des super Personals bis zum leckeren Essen.

Ich war gestern im Primitivo. Das Galloway-Tatar war extrem fein geschnitten, super aromatisch und perfekt abgeschmeckt. Danach der Nodino mit Thymian und Sellerie außen schön gebräunt, innen saftig, dazu ein cremiges Püree, das wunderbar gepasst hat. Alles wirkte sehr hochwertig, aber trotzdem unkompliziert und ehrlich. Man merkt, dass hier mit sehr guten Produkten gearbeitet wird. Service locker und aufmerksam. Für mich einfach genial und absolut empfehlenswert.

Ein absolutes Juwel! Ich war auf der Suche nach authentischer italienischer Küche und wurde hier auf ganzer Linie fündig. Fantastisches Essen, erstklassiger Service und ein Ambiente der Extraklasse.

Als dritter Gang im Überraschungsmenü kamen die Fettuccine aus Gragnano mit Duroc und genau hier hat mich die Küche abgeholt. Die Pasta hatte richtig Biss, die Sauce war kräftig und sauber, das Fleisch aromatisch und gut eingebunden. Nichts Überladenes, alles stimmig und warm serviert. Man merkt, dass hier auch bei einem Menü jeder Gang ernst genommen wird. Für mich ein starkes Herzstück des Abends und ein guter Beweis für das handwerkliche Niveau im Primitivo.

Ich habe im Primitivo den Rochen mit Wildfenchel und Kapernbutter gegessen und der war außergewöhnlich gut. Der Fisch zart und saftig, perfekt gegart, die Kapernbutter kräftig, aber ausgewogen. Der Wildfenchel hat Frische und Tiefe gebracht, alles hat stimmig zusammengepasst. Man schmeckt die Qualität der Produkte und die sichere Hand in der Küche. Service ruhig und aufmerksam. Für mich einer der besten Rochen, die ich je hatte.

Das beste italienische Restaurant in Düsseldorf! Hervorragendes Essen, eine exzellente Weinkarte und ein fantastisches Team. Die Inhaber sind sehr zuvorkommend und geben sich größte Mühe, ihren Gästen den bestmöglichen Service zu bieten!

Das Essen war absolut fantastisch. Dies war mein dritter Besuch und die Qualität ist durchweg hervorragend – jedes Gericht, das wir probiert haben, war exzellent.

Die Cacio e Pepe als Vorspeise war grandios: genau richtig cremig, schön pfeffrig und ohne Schnickschnack. Danach habe ich die Kalbsleber genommen und die war sogar noch besser perfekt auf den Punkt, super aromatisch und null trocken. Genau so stelle ich mir „Italien pur“ vor. Komme definitiv wieder.

Der Zackenbarsch war heute einfach unglaublich außen leicht kross, innen saftig, dazu ein cremiges Risotto mit schöner Zitrusnote.

Das Lokal ist etwas klein, aber die Bedienung ist freundlich und aufmerksam. Das Carpaccio hat mir nicht besonders gut geschmeckt; ich habe schon besseres gegessen. Der Oktopus und das Risotto waren gut. Die Leber war auch in Ordnung. Der Wein war gut, aber ich fand die Preise etwas hoch.

Die Gnocchi waren weich und frisch, die Garnelen saftig und die Pilze aromatisch. Die Burrata hat alles schön zusammengebracht, ohne das Gericht schwer zu machen. Service entspannt und freundlich, genau passend zum Essen. Ein Teller, den man gern bis zum letzten Bissen isst.

Wir sind eher zufällig ins Primitivo gegangen und haben uns sofort wohlgefühlt. Der Laden war voll, trotzdem blieb alles entspannt. Ich hatte ein einfaches Pastagericht, aber genau das hat überzeugt: frisch, gut abgeschmeckt, ohne Spielerei. Die Portion war genau richtig und der Weinempfehlung konnte man vertrauen. Am Ende sind wir zufrieden und mit dem Gedanken gegangen: Hier kommen wir wieder her.

Es ist zu laut, in dem Restaurant. Schallschluckende Elemente an der Decke und Wände wären sehr hilfreich, den Lärm zu verhindern.

Für mich ein Teller, der zeigt, wie stark die Küche hier ist.

I spontaneously ended up at Primitivo and immediately noticed their focus on seasonal ingredients. On the plate, you'll find only what truly makes sense right now – fresh, flavorful, and expertly cooked. No overloaded menu, just quality you can taste. The service is excellent, especially when it comes to the wine. The prices are absolutely fair for the level of quality. A very pleasant visit.

It was very crowded and noisy. We can’t hear each other during our dinner. The waiter serving us was unnecessarily close causing a little annoyance. Portions were small.

I was at Primitivo today and the seasonal quality really impressed me. Fresh produce, clear flavors, and expertly cooked. The staff explained what was in season and recommended suitable wines. Excellent value for money. I'll definitely be back.

I returned to Primitivo, and the Carnaroli risotto with late-season radicchio reminded me why this place is special. Everything on the plate was in perfect harmony: the creaminess of the rice, the slight bitterness of the radicchio, the sweeter notes of the roasted leaves on top. Nothing excessive, nothing out of place, just balance, technique, and true flavor. The quality of the ingredients is immediately apparent, as is the confident hand in the kitchen. With a glass of white wine recommended by the service, the experience was complete. A dish that works from start to finish and makes you want to return.

I had lunch at Primitivo today and ordered risotto with fresh porcini mushrooms. I never would have thought you could get such good mushrooms in mid-November – really aromatic and perfectly cooked. The pasta was exactly al dente, and the whole dish was wonderfully balanced, without anything unnecessary. The portion was generous, and the price was perfectly reasonable for the quality. The service was attentive but pleasantly relaxed. Overall, a really good meal and a lovely lunch – I'll definitely be back.

Saturday evening at Primitivo, the place was packed, not a single seat at the wine bar. We waited almost an hour, enjoying a perfect Negroni and the atmosphere. When we finally got our table, it was immediately clear: the wait had been worth it. We had ordered the sea bass for two – wonderfully fresh, cooked to perfection, with a delicate sauce and vegetables. Despite the crowd, the service was calm, friendly, and attentive. The atmosphere was vibrant, the cuisine honest and precise. For me, it was one of the best evenings I've had here in a long time – everything was just right.

We were thrilled with our first visit to Primitivo. We had the 5-course surprise menu. All five courses were superb. The service was also incredibly warm and welcoming. We will definitely be back.

I was at Primitivo yesterday, November 1st, and could hardly believe they still had fresh porcini mushrooms – and what mushrooms they were! The risotto was cooked to perfection: creamy, with a slight bite, and intensely flavorful. The fried porcini on top smelled fantastic and tasted earthy and nutty – simply brilliant. No unnecessary frills, just honest flavor and impeccable craftsmanship. The service was friendly, attentive, and relaxed. A glass of white wine accompanied the meal, and it was a perfect match. For me, it was one of the best dishes I've eaten this year – a huge compliment to the kitchen!

A very nice restaurant with very delicious food; the sea bream is my personal favorite.

I ended up at Primitivo for lunch. The pasta alle melanzane was perfectly cooked, with a sweet and spicy sauce and crispy eggplant strips – simple yet delicious. The portion was just right, nothing heavy. The service was quick and friendly, and bread and water arrived immediately. A glass of white wine was the perfect complement, and the price for lunch was excellent. I'd happily stop here again.

Good wine, good food, quite full at certain times

I stumbled upon Primitivo by chance, without much of a plan, and was completely surprised. It's a lovely, lively place, yet relaxed. I had the Cacio e Pepe, simple but really well-made, creamy, spicy, perfect. The wine that accompanied it was excellent, recommended by the waiter. No frills, just honest food and a good atmosphere. That's exactly how I like it.

I was in town for the trade fair in Düsseldorf. Locals recommended the Primitivo, and they were right. For starters, I had Cacio e Pepe: creamy, peppery, the pasta perfectly al dente. For the main course, Ossobuco: braised as tender as butter, with a rich sauce and perfectly seasoned. It felt like a culinary express train ride from Rome to Milan on the Frecciarossa. The prices are completely fair for the quality offered. A definite recommendation; it's best to make a reservation in the evening.

Anyone who eats out a lot will be familiar with this: In "normal" pizzerias, spaghetti aglio, olio e peperoncino now costs €15.90, while pasta with cream of mushrooms and prawns can easily reach €27.90. In more upscale restaurants, you'll find micro-portions, daring combinations, eight dishes on the menu, and you'll end up paying €200 per person. At Primitivo, it's the exact opposite: outstanding quality, honest portions, a well-thought-out and sufficiently broad menu, and prices that are very fair for what's on offer. Here, substance counts over show. The service isn't fake-friendly, but competent, attentive, and genuinely helpful, even when it comes to the over 100 wines. For me, this is a rare treasure in today's gastronomy: authentic Italian cuisine of the highest quality, without being pretentious.

One Friday evening, we visited the "Primitivo" restaurant in Düsseldorf-Pempelfort for the first time. We had reserved a table in advance, which in retrospect was a good idea. It became quite full as the evening progressed. The restaurant is comfortably furnished and relatively small, and the service was friendly. Before we ordered our appetizers, we were served delicious bread with excellent olive oil. The appetizers were the three bruschettas, which tasted rather okay. The eggplant casserole, on the other hand, was delicious. For our main courses, we chose the Rigatoni Salcicia, which was very tasty. The second main course was the veal lasagna, which tasted almost perfect. Of course, dessert was a must, and we opted for the warm chocolate tart. Unfortunately, it was rather bland in terms of taste. We had a lovely evening. We can recommend the truly delicious wines. Otherwise, the prices here are rather high.

After three attempts, we finally found a spot. The place is buzzing, and so is the quality. Service is calm and fast despite being at capacity. Pasta and risotto are top-notch, fish is spot-on, everything is fresh and seasonal. Extensive wine list, fair prices. My tip: make a reservation.

I've rarely experienced such a combination of wine expertise and honest cuisine. Over 120 top-quality wines, along with a menu that, compared to other fine restaurants, is extensive and reasonably priced, considering the quality and portions. The chef personally comes to the table and explains the daily specials based on the fresh produce: porcini mushrooms, chanterelles, Galloway fillet, Breton lobster, Sicilian arancino, Balfego tuna, swordfish, ventresca. The place was packed, yet the service remained calm, friendly, and precise. The flavors were clear, the products were first-class, and the portion sizes were fair. Hard to beat—I'm truly speechless.

Very poor experience here. Booked it for a 70th birthday, which we made clear to the restaurant twice beforehand. Arrived and there was no table ready and no sign of any table being free anytime soon. We were impatiently told to wait by staff who didn’t seem to have basic manners. We were then ignored for 15 minutes, aside from when waiters rudely barged past us as we stood waiting for a table. Delay in a table being ready is a pretty easy mistake to resolve but it was dealt with terribly by the ignorant staff. We left after 20 minutes of waiting and weren’t contacted afterwards for an apology. We went to Salt. around the corner instead where we had a great dinner in a much better environment. A blessing in disguise.

I spontaneously went to Primitivo and left delighted. The gnocchi with shrimp was excellent, with clear flavors and a perfect texture. Friendly service, a perfect wine recommendation, and fair prices. Lovely atmosphere; I'll definitely be back.

An evening at Primitivo in Pempelfort. I had the shrimp gnocchi and it was love at first bite: soft gnocchi, rich and fragrant seafood sauce, meaty shrimp, and fresh herbs. The dish was warm and flavorful, perfect for mopping up the sauce. Portions were adequate, prices were fair, and the wines were excellent, even by the glass. The service was prompt and friendly, and the atmosphere was relaxed and unfussy. You can truly feel Italy here. I'll be back soon.

It's better not to trust reservations. We had made a reservation weeks in advance for a very special occasion and confirmed it again for a later date. Upon arrival, we received a rude welcome – the reservation had been forgotten, and our table was given to other guests – we were (literally) left out in the cold. A few days later, we received only a text message apologizing that the staff had made many mistakes that evening. We were really looking forward to the evening, but the forgotten reservation for a special occasion and the unfriendly service were a real disappointment. It's better to make a reservation elsewhere if it's important.

Sadly we had a bad experience with the service. No communication with what was happening with our booking and we were left awkwardly standing in the middle of the restaurant. It was a special birthday too and we ended up leaving the restaurant after the mood was soured by being ignored & some unpleasant interaction.

An evening at Primitivo in Pempelfort. I had the shrimp gnocchi and it was love at first bite: soft gnocchi, rich and fragrant seafood sauce, meaty shrimp, and fresh herbs. The dish was warm and flavorful, perfect for mopping up the sauce. Portions were adequate, prices were fair, and the wines were excellent, even by the glass. The service was prompt and friendly, and the atmosphere was relaxed and unfussy. You can truly feel Italy here. I'll be back soon.

My Evening at Primitivo – Notes from the Guestbook 7:05 PM Arrival in Düsseldorf Pempelfort, warm welcome at the wine bar, water and fresh bread immediately on the table. 7:20 PM Starter: Balfegó tuna, cleanly sliced, two sauces, plenty of freshness, nothing loud, everything precise. 7:45 ​​PM Intermediate course: Risotto with chanterelle mushrooms, creamy with a bite, nutty flavors, small crumbs for texture. 8:15 PM Main course: Beef fillet with porcini, cooked to perfection, clear jus, side dishes reduced and sensible. 8:30 PM Wine: The advice is listening and hits the mark, first a glass of Vermentino, then a Primitivo from Puglia. 9:00 PM Dessert: Lemon, a light and clean finish. What remains: Italian cuisine with substance rather than show, visually very beautiful and rich in detail, without frills. Attentive service, relaxed atmosphere, and excellent value for money. Three of us went to this restaurant last night on Instagram's recommendation. The ambiance was nice. The place is really busy. The food was good, but more expensive than usual. After our first drink, no one asked if we wanted another, even though I signaled to come back. So, I'm not impressed with the service, especially not at these high prices. A Sprite with a starter and dessert is simply not enough. I was really thirsty. When I finally asked if the €30 was for the risotto, because there were several different kitchens and we were a bit surprised by the price, the waiter kind of yelled at us and treated us condescendingly because we didn't know how expensive porcini mushrooms are. Sorry guys, that's not okay. If you're standing in my pharmacy, I won't laugh at you if you don't know anything about medicines. So, toning down the arrogance a bit would be appropriate. Not everyone was unfriendly and arrogant, but one of them was just unacceptable. And no one asked if we wanted another drink. All in all, given the huge selection of restaurants in Düsseldorf, we wouldn't go there again.

From the moment we walked in, we were impressed by the restaurant. The decor is very cozy and reminded me of Spain or Portugal. The service was attentive and well-trained. The food was delicious, although the tartar was a bit small. However, we were both satisfied with the main course. Like the Mediterranean, maybe even better. The spaghetti vongole at Primitivo was absolutely top-notch. The pasta was perfectly al dente, the clams fresh, tender, and aromatic. The broth, light and spicy, with just the right hint of garlic and herbs, brought everything together. No frills, no frills, just pure elegance on the plate. Anyone who loves mussels will adore this dish. For me, it's a piece of Italy in the heart of Düsseldorf.

I've rarely seen a restaurant master two such different dishes to this level. The carbonara was pure and brilliantly creamy thanks to the egg yolk, robust thanks to the guanciale, no frills, simply perfect. And then the blue lobster: tender, aromatic, beautifully presented, with a sauce that combined everything without overpowering the flavor of the lobster. Two completely different styles, both masterfully executed. Primitivo shows that true cuisine knows no compromises.
