I'm very disappointed with this restaurant. I wanted to go there with my friends and even had a reservation, but we weren't allowed in. The doorman claimed the restaurant was closed, even though there were clearly still guests inside. The only noticeable difference between us and the other guests was that we were wearing headscarves. Unfortunately, this left us with the impression of discrimination. Such behavior is absolutely unacceptable to us and has nothing to do with hospitality or respect. Very disappointing and definitely not recommended.

The visit was generally okay. The very loud music made it feel like we were in a disco. We had to wait almost two hours for our food. Although we were a large group of 15 people, two hours is still too long in my opinion. There is ample parking in the "Neuer Zollhof" parking garage directly below the restaurant.

The worst service ever! Daniel, the oldest waiter there I think, has no service at all and didn’t even speak English. Worst ever. Overhyped. The restaurant is pretty, but the food is awful! No taste at all. Really not worth the money!! For all Dutch people, only go there for drinks, otherwise, absolutely not!

However, upon arrival, we were turned away with the excuse that they were full, even though it was clear that the place was not at capacity. It felt like we were unwelcome for reasons unknown. We went to the Meerbar restaurant on a Monday evening for my sister's husband's birthday. The table had been reserved in advance. The restaurant's ambiance is very nice and pleasant, and it was quite quiet as only a few tables were occupied. Unfortunately, our visit was disappointing overall, especially due to the service and the food. The waiter who served us (a tall man with dark hair, a dark beard, and a mustache, who spoke with an accent) was very unfriendly and seemed annoyed from the start. Although we were always polite and didn't have any unusual requests, his manner was cold and dismissive. When it came time to pay, I wanted to pay my share separately and went to the waiter specifically to avoid involving the birthday boy. He reacted visibly irritated and insisted that the other person paying had to come immediately. When we paid by card, he stared very conspicuously at the display, especially when selecting the tip option. After no tip was selected, he turned around without a word and left. For dessert, we had specifically requested a candle for the birthday person (several times). It wasn't brought initially. After asking again, we waited another 20 minutes until the dessert finally arrived – unfortunately, accompanied by continued unfriendly service. It was also noticeable that other guests were given a very friendly send-off, while we were turned away without a word, even though we left the restaurant right behind them. The food was also disappointing: The truffle pasta, costing almost €30, was bland and not worth the price. The salmon was very tough. Overall, the meal was rather average. Conclusion: A nice atmosphere, but very disappointing service and unconvincing cuisine. Unfortunately, not recommended for a special occasion like a birthday.

Despite having a valid reservation and being accompanied by a woman, we were refused entry without any explanation. The bouncer was extremely arrogant and provocative. What was particularly irritating was his behavior as if he were the owner, when at the end of the day he was simply an employee. This behavior came across as an unnecessary display of power on principle, not a professional decision. Frankly, for someone earning around €2,000 net per month, this inflated ego is completely out of place. Such conduct damages the reputation of the entire establishment. Anyone who ignores reservations and treats guests disrespectfully shouldn't be surprised by negative feedback. We definitely won't be returning.

I was absolutely thrilled with my visit! The service was outstanding – friendly, attentive, yet pleasantly unobtrusive. The food was superb, freshly prepared, perfectly balanced in flavor, and beautifully presented. I was particularly impressed by the seamless transition from the restaurant to the bar. After dinner, you could easily move on without changing the atmosphere. The ambiance became increasingly lively, and the selection of drinks was first-rate. All in all, a thoroughly enjoyable evening. I will definitely be back!

We had dinner here on November 13th at 19:30. The food was good, the staff polite, and the atmosphere nice. However, the billing issue at the end ruined the whole experience. We were two people and ordered one Schoko Pott to share. But the bill showed two Schoko Potts plus two Crème Brûlées, which we never ordered. We only noticed the mistake after paying, including an 8% tip based on the wrong total. When we pointed it out, the waitress said she accidentally charged items from another table. But to us, the mistake did not feel accidental. They refunded only the extra desserts, not the extra tip, which was also caused by their error. This was very disappointing, and under these circumstances we shouldn’t have been expected to leave any tip at all. We hope the restaurant takes this seriously and remains honest with customers in the future!!!

Great atmosphere, delicious food, but slow and inattentive service — still worth coming back MEERBAR has a truly wonderful atmosphere. It’s vibrant, stylish, and full of energy. Sometimes it gets so crowded that you literally have to squeeze your way between people to move around — but in a way, that’s part of its lively charm. The food is absolutely delicious, and the kitchen is really impressive. The downside is the service: the staff can be inattentive, slow, and often overwhelmed, especially during busy hours. This lack of attention does take away from the overall experience. But honestly, the food and the overall vibe are so good that none of this stops me from returning. I will definitely come back.

Having already looked at the menu online, we were delighted to find that all our wishes could be fulfilled: every dish we ordered was exceptionally well-prepared and tasted delicious. Since we would have loved to find a dessert with ice cream, we were disappointed that it wasn't available. But... you have to adapt and try new things to get what you want. Our reservation was for 6 p.m., and the restaurant wasn't very busy. Most of the other guests didn't arrive until after 7 p.m. that Sunday evening, so we enjoyed the peace and quiet of the Meerbar restaurant until then.

I recently dined at Meerbar and unfortunately had a very disappointing experience. The service, in particular, was far below the standard one would expect in a restaurant of this caliber. We had eaten in the restaurant beforehand and afterwards wanted to enjoy a fresh mint tea on the leather couch in the front area. To our surprise, however, we were informed that no hot drinks were served after 10:00 p.m. I found this unusual and rather unfriendly for an upscale restaurant. In addition, we had to wait an unusually long time before we could even order drinks. When I finally ordered a small bottle of still water, the waiter brought a large bottle of sparkling water to the table. When I pointed this out, he replied that they didn't have any small bottles left – something I highly doubted, given my regular visits there. Furthermore, I was advised to ask at the bar myself. Which I did – and, of course, small bottles were readily available. The impression that the waiter was deliberately trying to increase sales instead of attending to the guests' needs has unfortunately been reinforced. I find such behavior disrespectful and unprofessional. The incident occurred in the front area on the leather couch. I don't know the waiter's name, otherwise I would mention it here. Overall, this visit left a very negative impression. I hope that management takes this feedback seriously and implements measures to ensure that the service meets the standards one expects from Meerbar in the future.

We went there for the first time because we thought we'd treat ourselves to a slightly more upscale meal. But we wouldn't come back. Yes, the food and cocktails are great, but this place is clearly designed for mass consumption. Zero privacy. The next guest feels like they're sitting in your lap, and you can't even have a conversation without them overhearing. It's so cramped you can't even move around properly, and at first, they practically left us standing in the hallway while they looked for our reserved table (?). It's all a lot of show and no substance, and there are definitely much better places out there. And frankly, you could do without most of the other guests.

The restaurant makes an impressive impression from the moment you walk in – very stylish, modern, and luxuriously furnished, without being ostentatious. The food was outstanding: top-notch in both taste and quality, and beautifully presented. The selection of drinks and wines was also excellent and perfectly complemented the overall experience. All in all, a thoroughly enjoyable evening in an upscale setting – highly recommended for special occasions or a lovely night out for two.

We had previously called to request a reservation and were told that there were plenty of seats available starting at 10 p.m. and that no reservation was necessary. When we arrived, the doorman still refused to let us in, even though guests were constantly leaving and new ones were being admitted. When asked, he simply told us to "come back tomorrow." He didn't give a plausible reason. We were smartly dressed, but it still seemed clear that our appearance, especially our wearing of a headscarf, was the reason we were turned away. Unfortunately, we hear similar stories from many others; apparently, this discriminatory behavior is not an exception. Extremely rude – never again at the Meer Bar in Düsseldorf! I went there last night with my family to celebrate my birthday and enjoy a bottle of champagne. We didn't have a reservation, but just wanted a spontaneous, pleasant evening. Unfortunately, we were turned away at the entrance – on the grounds that we were "too casually dressed." Interestingly, on our last visit, we dressed the same way, ate, drank, and spent a considerable amount of money there – apparently, that wasn't a problem then. This time, however, we were turned away without any understanding or friendliness. I have rarely experienced such arrogant and condescending behavior in Düsseldorf. For a restaurant that calls itself "upscale," it clearly lacks the most important qualities: respect and hospitality. We will definitely not be returning!

The place used to be good. Unfortunately, it's not anymore. It started when we were asked at the door if we wanted something to eat or were just there for a drink. We said we'd like to eat, but were seated at a bar table anyway. The waitress came over and asked what we wanted to drink. We said we'd like the menu. Then she looked at us strangely and said, "Here? Food?" We told her we said we were there to eat, and she turned around and left. After 15 minutes, she came back with the menu. I discussed what we wanted with my friend before ordering, but the waitress must have missed us and called an order. She came back with cutlery. When I asked her if we could order now, she said to me, "You just did." She ultimately misunderstood it and when I told her, "No, I wanted something else," she said, "I can't cancel it anymore." Well, the food arrived, but unfortunately, my girlfriend and I didn't like it at all. I mean, I wasn't making a fuss about getting something I didn't order, but then you can at least expect it to taste good. I told her this, and she said she needed to speak to the chef. After about 15 minutes, she came back and told me the chef had said that the dish had been ordered many times today, but no one had complained, and she couldn't cancel the meal again. FYI: my truffle pasta was very watery and the pasta was way too cooked. She finally took my plate and said they'd make it again. After another 40 minutes, she came back and told me that my meal had been canceled. I then asked her why it had been canceled now and that I was totally wrong. I find it rude because they've already made me wait over two hours, I'm still hungry, and I've been waiting the whole time for my food. If they'd told me earlier, I would have gone somewhere else to eat long ago. We paid, and I called the shift manager. She came, was really nice, and told us she needed two minutes to sort it out. In the end, she didn't come back even after 20 minutes, and we were fed up. The bottom line: the only competent people in the store are the men at the door and reception. Unfortunately, nothing more.

I had a reservation here this evening for a special occasion. Unfortunately, upon arrival I was denied entry by the security staff in a very unprofessional and disrespectful manner, due to my work attire. There was no prior notification or mention of any dress code when I made the reservation, and I also noticed other guests wearing similar clothing being allowed inside without issue. What made the experience even worse was that this happened while it was raining, and instead of showing any courtesy, the staff refused entry in a very dismissive way. A restaurant should ensure that any dress code, if enforced, is communicated transparently in advance, applied fairly to all guests, and handled with basic professionalism and respect.

It's incredibly disappointing that these days in Düsseldorf, one is still confronted with such superficial rules as a dress code. People shouldn't be sorted by their clothes, but by their behavior, respect, and demeanor. Clothing says nothing about a guest's personality, character, or intentions. A well-groomed, normal, everyday look is perfectly sufficient if you simply want to have a leisurely drink. No one goes to a bar to be judged on a catwalk. With such regulations, you artificially create an "exclusivity" based on the devaluation of others. This is not only unfashionable, but also excludes people who consciously dress casually or perhaps don't even have the financial means to buy "high-class" outfits for a bar visit. Instead of devaluing guests who are dressed with absolute respect and order, it would make much more sense to emphasize a pleasant atmosphere, good service, and hospitality. This is precisely what distinguishes a bar you'll want to return to time and time again from one that only stands out for its superficiality. Dress codes today are nothing more than a relic of a bygone era when clothing was supposed to determine worth and status. A modern Düsseldorf should be better than that. Ridiculous. Then we were also recommended a bar across the street. They can afford this bar... Looks so perfect from the outside, but inside. I don't even know which GTA Casino movie you're floating through.

Pompous down to the last corner, and for me, just somewhere to go for a drink or sit outside with friends. The cocktails and drinks selection is very good, prices are normal for Düsseldorf and the place itself, and I'm thrilled that the bar survived the coronavirus pandemic. Meerbar – that pretty much tells you what "good" food you can get here. At least they now offer vegetarian options, but I haven't discovered anything truly vegan yet. So there's still room for improvement.

The service here was very bad – we had to wait far too long just to place an order, even though the restaurant was half empty. The food quality was disappointing; the truffle pasta in particular was terrible. For the high prices they charge, the experience is definitely not worth it. To make things worse, even the toilet smelled strongly of urine, which left a very bad impression. Overall, I would not recommend this restaurant.

An evening we won't soon forget – unfortunately, in a negative sense. There were eight of us in the restaurant. We clearly paid far too much for what was offered. The positive: Maria and Fatma in the waiting area, as well as the security at the door (booked externally), were friendly, attentive, and very professional. Security held the door open for us whenever we wanted to leave and was extremely courteous. Without these three parties, the evening would have been completely unbearable. The negative – and it weighs heavily: • The restaurant was only at 15–20% capacity. It would have been easy for the chef or manager to come to the table. Instead, they completely hid and left the staff alone. Absolutely unprofessional. • The seafood platters were first incorrectly served as appetizers and later "kept warm." Oysters that arrive warm (instead of on ice, as they should be) are simply disgusting. After eating them, I had severe diarrhea and had to vomit. That's unacceptable. • My risotto contained zucchini, which wasn't listed on the menu – highly problematic for me because I'm allergic to zucchini. I couldn't eat the dish, but I was still charged the full price. The kitchen refused to listen, which is simply ridiculous. • Shrimp and other seafood were overcooked and inedible. • A magnum rosé wasn't served cold enough (at least it was later removed from the bill). A seafood platter was also only charged half price. Still: far too expensive for such abysmal quality. • Tuna steak: The menu didn't list any side dishes. It was served with sweet potato mash, which was not requested. The waiter correctly asked if the dish should be remade. But instead of preparing it fresh, the kitchen apparently just served it on a new plate. The steak was lukewarm and fell apart – a clear indication that it wasn't a new dish, but simply "re-decorated." An absolute no-go in a restaurant with these prices. And the icing on the cake: In a restaurant with this price point, they serve paper napkins instead of cloth ones. Combined with warm oysters and overcooked shrimp, it's simply outrageous. Conclusion: The service (Maria, Fatma, and the security at the door) tried really hard, but they had no chance against the kitchen and the ignorant management. The chef and management are a complete failure. Lousy food, incorrect dishes, warm oysters, health consequences, lukewarm "re-dressed" tuna steak, paper napkins (!), and no sense of responsibility from management. I worked in the restaurant industry for 16 years myself – and I can say it clearly: Disgusting, unprofessional, completely overpriced. Never again.

We sat outside and ordered food. As it got colder, we asked to be served inside. The waiter told us it was no problem, but he had to collect our bill first. So far, so good; when we sat inside, another waiter was in charge who no longer seemed interested in us. We weren't asked if we wanted anything else to drink, and our empty plates weren't cleared away. The first, younger waiter was very friendly, but the older waiter with glasses seemed dissatisfied that he couldn't collect our bill and just took over our table. Very rude.

The Meerbar is perfectly located in the Media Harbour. Both indoor and outdoor seating offer a pleasant ambiance. The menu offers something for everyone, with a high level of quality. The taste and quality of the food is top-notch, but competition in the surrounding area is also fierce.

Cozy atmosphere – but the food is a complete disappointment The location and atmosphere truly deserve high praise: lovingly designed, cozy, and furnished with a keen sense of style and detail. You immediately feel at home and invited to enjoy the evening. Unfortunately, the food didn't live up to this first impression at all. While the dishes looked attractively presented, the taste fell far short of expectations. The dip was completely bland, and the shrimp were overcooked twice – dry, overcooked, and simply left in the pan for too long. The risotto we ordered turned out to be more like ordinary rice with sauce – no trace of the "sloppiness" typical of risotto. Overall, the food was a stark contrast to the excellent location. A real shame, because the ambiance would have deserved a thoroughly successful evening.

We had a reservation for a birthday party with 10 people, but as we were about to enter, the two doormen refused to let us in, arguing that we looked "young and foreign." They only let us in once after one of us spoke German. The service was terrible, abysmal. We ordered two bottles of wine, which took 40 minutes to bring and serve. They also served uneven glasses and spilled wine on one of the diners. Overall, we had to call them several times to get our attention. They brought one of the dishes, and the next nine came 15 minutes later, not to mention they forgot one. They also didn't replace the cutlery for those who had ordered meat. The food was good, although the price-performance ratio leaves something to be desired. At least the place was nice and the atmosphere was great.

This is absolutely incomprehensible: I was wearing an elegant dress, my cousin a skirt with a stylish blouse. Our attire was definitely appropriate. It's deeply disappointing to see an exclusive location and charming ambiance vanish into thin air when objective criticism is dismissed as "defamation" and reported simply to maintain a flawless record. It's a paradox, though: Especially in a business that thrives on customer satisfaction, constructive feedback should be viewed as a gift. It points out deficiencies that could be addressed and offers the opportunity to optimize the experience for every guest. Censoring criticism instead of taking it seriously sends a fatal signal. It shows that the well-being of guests and the quality of the service matter less than the superficial appearance of a perfect review. True hospitality means being open to suggestions and constantly striving to improve. Investing time and effort in addressing deficiencies would pay off far more in the long run than any well-intentioned complaint about unwelcome opinions. Because at the end of the day, it's the guests' honest experiences that count – and their willingness to learn from them.

Used to be okay for drinks, now unsuitable for dining We used to go to the Meerbar quite often – it was fine for 1-2 drinks before going out. However, in my opinion, the location is unsuitable for a relaxed dinner. The music is extremely loud, making normal conversation almost impossible. The tables are very close together, which creates additional unrest and a lack of privacy. Although rain was only forecast, we had reservations, and it stayed dry, we weren't allowed to sit outside despite our large umbrellas. Instead, we were seated in an uninviting spot between the bar and the kitchen, directly opposite the restrooms. Our baby – who was very quiet that evening – didn't seem particularly welcome. The crowd seemed fake – lots of very stylish groups, an artificial "posh" atmosphere. If you like that, you might feel comfortable – we found it rather unpleasant. After 30 minutes, we left and had a relaxed and very good meal elsewhere. The Meerbar may still be okay for drinks before going out – but for a relaxed evening, it's definitely not our first choice.

The restaurant should really consider whether it wants to continue this way and risk a series of lawsuits. Doormen screening at the door is a regular violation of the General Equal Treatment Act (AGG). And yes, a restaurant has the right to claim the house, but it still has to comply with applicable law.

We spent New Year's Eve at this restaurant yesterday and were extremely disappointed. A fixed entrance fee of €190 per person was charged for the evening, including a five-course meal. We were repeatedly and explicitly informed that only these tickets were accepted, that free entry was not possible, and that ordering à la carte was not permitted. To be on the safe side, both a friend and I called and specifically asked if it was possible to come without the set menu. Each time, this was clearly denied. However, as the evening progressed, it turned out that from around 10 p.m. onwards, other guests were admitted who had only paid €40 and were allowed to order à la carte as normal. This is completely incomprehensible to us and simply unfair. If this option existed, it should have been communicated transparently beforehand. As it stands, we feel utterly deceived. On top of that, the five-course meal was a huge disappointment in terms of quality. The food was generally unappetizing; the fish served was definitely not good and in no way commensurate with the price. For €190, one expects quality, which was sadly lacking. We absolutely demand an explanation as to why some guests were forced to accept this expensive set menu while others were able to dine in at a significantly lower price and with more flexibility. Such inconsistent and opaque organization is completely unacceptable to us. Unfortunately, a very bad start to the new year.
