Nice restaurant unfortunately the food isn't so good

The food was super bad! The service is incompetent! We have never eaten such bad food in Berlin in 20 years!

On April 24, 2025, my wife and I wanted to round off our stay in Berlin in style with a special lunch at the Brasserie-Quarré. From the asparagus menu we ordered: - 2x salad - 1x soup - 2x 300 g asparagus spears plus side dishes There was also a bottle of water and a dessert including a cappuccino to share. For this experience we paid €235 (including tip). Of course, expensive food and drinks are generally neither surprising nor offensive at an institution like the Adlon. Nevertheless, in retrospect I look at this price with bewilderment when I put it in relation to the overall quality offered. Our table was reserved for 1:30 p.m. We showed up on time and ordered quickly. It then took the Brasserie Quarré a total of more than three hours (!!!) to serve the above-mentioned food and drinks. After this almost surreal experience, we left the restaurant around 4:45 p.m. and could hardly believe what had just happened. More than three hours for two salads, a soup, two main courses and a dessert. More than three hours. Whatever may have been going on behind the scenes that day, something like that is completely unreasonable and would at the very least call for appropriate compensation. However, this did not happen at all, apart from a friendly request for an apology. We were lucky that we hadn't planned any other things to do in Berlin on this sunny spring day, apart from going to a concert in the evening. Otherwise they would have been badly ruined by this blatant display of organizational incompetence. In view of the fatal underperformance in service described, the quality of the food almost becomes an insignificant side note. However, it should not go unmentioned that this was also absolutely unworthy of a menu costing over €200. This isn't meant to be a vituperative review; That's why I'm happy to honestly admit that the salad, the soup and the crème brûlée tasted excellent. Unfortunately, the opposite was true for the main course, the most important part of the menu. The asparagus tasted less delicate and aromatic than the one I prepared at home from the weekly market. My wife's corn-fed chicken wasted its life in vain because it was fried so mercilessly dry. My salmon fillet cooked on the skin tasted only average. And to top it all off, the potatoes that were served to us as a side dish were almost raw! Could we have complained directly on site about the poor preparation of our main courses? Yes. Did we still have the motivation to do this after three hours of grueling waiting? No. Instead, we just wanted to pay and leave. Due to the legendary reputation of the Adlon, but also due to the prices that perfectly match its legendary status, our expectations were rightly very high in the run-up to the visit. The Brasserie Quarré couldn't even begin to live up to this.

A reservation was made on my birthday, which was clarified well in advance. When we showed up with the announced number of people, an employee warmly invited us and wanted to assign us a seat. When a male person who was in the front area of ​​the restaurant shouted loudly that no male groups would be served and that they should leave the location. However, this sequence is problematic because the owner only intervened when the fourth person appeared, who could obviously have a migrant background. My four friends, who had a “German” appearance, were neither spoken to nor pointed out by the “owner” about the problem. We are outraged and simply disappointed by the previous events. Furthermore, no conversation was held with us or with me as the person affected, whereupon we left the bar and the outrage was confirmed by surrounding customers. We will avoid this restaurant in the future and carry on past events.

The Wiener Schnitzel was excellent! Absolutely comparable to a real top schnitzel from Vienna. Highly recommended! The tender rib-eye steak was also convincing across the board.

I didn’t really eat here, but I had a few drinks and it’s a really nice bar with good service. No complaints. I would trust the food is alright, but I would rather get the local food down the street.

Very nice and friendly staff. Good selection of food and drinks. There's something for everyone. There's even a separate smoking room to avoid disturbing the non-smokers.

There are very comfortable chairs and benches that are more reminiscent of a large, comfortable couch than of uncomfortable wooden benches or chairs. The tables are also rather simple but stylish. You don't sit like chickens on the perch, you have more than enough space to the neighboring table without feeling like you're disturbing each other. The decoration is lovingly placed, but not overloaded or inappropriate. All in all, a very harmonious and cozy atmosphere. The employees are friendly and competent, when asked about various ingredients regarding allergies. The employees were able to give an adequate answer. Furthermore, the employees are very attentive and asked pleasantly whether we needed anything else or whether everything was OK. The prices are reasonable for the portion and quality but not cheap (I hope you understand the difference). the food was more than good and tasty. My companion once ordered the homemade lemonade 1x (lemon-ginger) and a burger with French fries and I enjoyed the homemade lemonade (lemon-orange) 2x, a broccoli soup and pork schnitzel (Jäger style) with sweet potato fries. In terms of price, we paid a total of around €60, which, as already mentioned, is very good value for the quality and portions. Forgot to mention the lemonades, we always took the large versions. My companion and I felt very comfortable and will come to eat more often in the future.

Ich war bei der standesamtlichen Trauung meiner Cousine in dieser Location dabei, und leider war die Erfahrung alles andere als zufriedenstellend. Der Service war kaum spürbar: Das Essen wurde einfach auf den Tisch gestellt, und danach haben wir das Personal nicht mehr gesehen. Es war offensichtlich, dass an Mitarbeitern gespart wurde, denn niemand kümmerte sich weiter um uns oder fragte, ob wir noch etwas benötigen. Besonders enttäuschend war die Abrechnung. Obwohl meine Cousine eine klare Anzahl an Speisen bestellt hatte, wurden plötzlich mehr Gerichte in Rechnung gestellt. Als wir das freundlich ansprachen und eine Lösung suchten, wurde uns keine konstruktive Antwort gegeben. Stattdessen reagierte man abweisend und sogar persönlich, obwohl wir die Situation sachlich und lösungsorientiert klären wollten. Für einen so wichtigen Anlass war das eine sehr enttäuschende Erfahrung, und ich kann diese Location leider nicht empfehlen.
