Fantastic food - great location - absolutely worth visiting!

Food was mediocre, I had oysters, eggplant caviar and muscles. Service was good. Vibey space, very loud.

Food was delicious and authentic. Staff was quick and attentive. Perfect spot for a date/chill evening hangout with friends and family.

We were disappointed with our visit, even though the food was mostly good, although sometimes cold and bland. The service staff were absolutely stressed/overwhelmed, the manager/coordinator that evening was absolutely unfriendly and unpleasant to deal with. Above all, I find it unacceptable when employees are treated unfairly, sometimes even intolerably, as we experienced from managers (a gentleman with a suit and blonde hair). There was a really hectic, stressful atmosphere. Only people who are as close to the concept of stylish and young as possible are “desirable” and as soon as you have eaten you are subtly and constantly asked to leave so that the table can be reoccupied. What a shame!

Personally, I was not satisfied with the quality and the price/performance ratio. The owner also has reviews deleted.

Attended as part of my "eating in every French restaurant in Berlin" journey on August 20 at 7pm. I have proof of booking, and payment. The food was pretty good, but below the value offered other French restaurants in Berlin. 45 Euros for a Duck confit with sides... is more than I've ever paid in Berlin. 6.50 for a small alchohol free beer? I most often pay less, for actual beer. And I've eaten at 20+ French restaurants in Berlin The desserts were wonderful. Really good. Credit given where credit due. But the main problem was they provided no real care for people who don't want to breathe smoke whilst they dine when the weather is warm. If you sit outside here? Its a smokefest. If you sit inside? It's far too hot with the windows down.. so open them ... and all the smoke simply drifts into the restaurant. They place tables right outside the windows... and thus you can be sitting inside, but be only 6feet from a table of 4 smokers. It really spoiled our experience. If you want to smoke and sit on a prominent corner in Mitte looking like a cool inner city dweller? This place is for you. If you want a comfortable French meal, with a price matching the food quality and a cool, smoke free dining experience in the summer months... look elsewhere. I have receipts for the night in question, and can prove attendence. This is a genuine review. We were dissapointed that non smokers looking for a good dining experience were not prioritised. Rather than attempting to get this review removed - which I will fight tooth and nail against, providing proof of attendance and purchase - perhaps respond to the issues raised.

The place is overpriced for what it offers. I'm a foodie and have been working on eating my way through Berlin over the past ten years. I wouldn't have a problem with a higher price tag if the food was something amazing but there are just too many other great French restaurants who make better food and offer more value. My boyfriend also reviewed and they had it taken down because apparently they don't want people to comment honestly about them. But, be aware that I paid for the meal that night so I can prove with my credit card statement that we were there, so I dare you to try to get my review removed. I will fight back because consumers should be allowed to tell the truth in our reviews. Your food in just not that good for the high prices of your establishment. Instead of trying to censor customers, do better.

Guess what, if you wonder why this place has mostly positive ratings, the owners have Google take down negative reviews on phony Verleumdung charges. And Google seems to be willing to comply. So much for free speech. Btw, your food is still mediocre and overpriced. Sorry, not sorry.

The manager type treats people like they are bad, he doesn't know much about the catering industry, table management and reservation management and he doesn't seat customers who arrive at 9:30 at a table but only at the bar (where you are not allowed to order food). Being able to finish work early even though the kitchen doesn't close until 10 p.m. We were told he has reservations and no free tables. This incident happened today at 9:30 p.m., all tables with customers have tablecloths and are covered.. all empty tables were not covered and already cleared. Anyone who works in the catering industry or knows anything about it knows what that means :)

Meat of the finest quality has never been disappointed here. You can also see your own wines.

Celebrated my birthday at this place! The atmosphere in this restaurant is embellished by the staff, I haven't met such nice waiters in a long time! The people around are exquisite and beautiful. The food is delicious, enjoyed the oysters.

The ambience is great and the food is good too. However, you shouldn't expect the waiter to smile at you or make you feel like he's happy that you're there.

The restaurant is beautiful and I appreciate the cramped Parisian atmosphere but the neighbor's dog was almost on my lap! I love dogs but not on my plate. I think that with such a limited space between the tables, our 4-legged companions have no place there! The cheese selection was a gag especially for a French girl but the rest of the food was ok, a little expensive. Very good cocktails and great service

We had great cocktails and then decided to have dinner and Torbar didn’t disappoint!

Top shop where you can forget about time. We girls had a great evening. A table was organized for us outside despite the restaurant being completely booked. The service is always attentive, warm and courteous. Unfortunately the food (shrimp cocktail, burrata) wasn't special, you'll have to work on that again. Frozen shrimp, tasteless, not good quality. Burrata doesn't flow, it's hard and too cold. Tomatoes too cold, tasteless and not enough for the price. Bread and butter is good for that. You feel comfortable with you.

Favorite restaurant with fresh, delicious cuisine and nice guys...

I didn't like the ambience or rather the stacking of guests in a small space so that I was sitting arm-in-arm with the person sitting next to me at the table. The waiter then gave us a stand alone table. They were all great too. Food was great, steak was unfortunately oversalted, but I dismiss that as a one-off blunder. I didn't like the fact that I had to pay in full for it. All in all great.

Everything was wonderful. The food and the ambiance were very nice. The only problem is that the tables outside are so close that customers' elbows touch each other... For a drink, I highly recommend Yuzu Martinis. 🍸

Cool bar! Oysters, risotto, wine - wonderful! At the entrance, a gorgeous bouquet always lifts the mood and pleases the eye! Roses bloom in spring!

Steak with paris sauce was very good quality, tasty and tender, unfortunatelly that but would be it, fries came cold and taste industrial, bread nothing special, and onion soup please avoid, super oily, with bread on top which was a hard burned piece of „shoe” , ambience very posh, I believe its more of a place to be seen rather then actually appreciate the food, service was correct. would not recommend.

Definitely my ultimate favourite restaurant in Berlin. Usually service sucks in Berlin everywhere you go, but here is different. Each time I go, I get treated like a princess. Isaac and the crew are simply so warm, friendly and they always make me feel like I'm home! And the food is delicious. Big fan of the seafood tower and especially the escargots 🤤 but actually everything on the menu is delicious. 19/10 would recommend. If i could give more stars, I would.

Unfortunately there was only room inside for two young women and a group of three men. All other tables were beautifully set but were not provided. After being asked twice whether it would be better to sit inside, it was pointed out that there weren't enough staff to play inside and outside. The ladies sat inside because they had asked more persistently for a place inside. If there is a 100 euro deposit when making a reservation with a credit card on file, you would want to be informed when only the outdoor area on the 4-lane main road is available. Gritting his teeth, he looked out onto the main street. Even after asking twice, it was unfortunately not possible to get a table inside. A blanket also helps against the cold but not against noise and pedestrian traffic. Apparently one of the menus was previously used as a coaster by another guest and perhaps a bicycle ran over it? Unfortunately, Cote du boef was out. The service was friendly and tried hard, the food and cocktails were good according to the price. Host and organization absolutely poor. P.s. You should not sweep the shards of broken glasses into the telecommunications shaft in front of the restaurant. There are mechanics who have to go down there and don't like having to deal with broken glass because it would probably be too much trouble to do a hand brush at a late hour.

Good quality food on a sidewalk restaurant.

Both the cocktails and the food are prepared with a love and perfection that you can find in few places. Without exception, everything we ordered was delicious. Thank you for the lovely evening we had with you.

One of my absolute favorite restaurants! Everything is right here for me - the store is super nice and cozy, the food is great and the team is always very accommodating and you feel comfortable. If you don't like it, you should go somewhere else, then it won't be that difficult to get a table ;) Thanks to the Torbar for every nice evening!

We had the café de Paris entrecôte, disappointed, the sauce accompanying the dish was a cream sauce and not a café de Paris sauce. Average welcome and service.

Amazing food and location! Not sure why people say it does not seem the standards.. the truffle risotto was one the best I had! The only downside was that on Saturday night the food took almost 1 to be served.. so I would not recommend it on busy days!

An honest opinion from me. Price performance is OK. It's definitely very popular, it was practically full on a Tuesday evening. Therefore reserve my recommendation. It's very easy to do online. Be sure to speak English.

We only had one drink, very tasty. Service was very nice.

Way overpriced for what it is. When we came to our table, 3 out of 4 glasses had red lipstick on them. The waitress just laughed about it and didn’t even say sorry. They also were not really attentive and they just plonked the food on the table. This is our third time here, it’s been gradually getting worse. Points for the nice interior, it still doesn’t justify 38€ for a lobster roll that is 95% brioche. Wouldn’t come again.

Very stylish atmosphere, pleasant audience and very friendly staff who impressively mix good drinks even during the performance. The music might be too loud for some, but still OK for a late evening. The opportunity to eat here has not yet arisen. Gladly next time. PS to the men: If you've always wanted to pee in a Parisian urinal, you have the opportunity here. ;)

Despite all the hype, the quality of the food must correspond to the price level, but that wasn't the case. I like the card, but the implementation was just okay, not excellent or even exhilarating. There is still room for improvement. I would still be a guest again because I liked the atmosphere and the service was friendly. Conclusion: Anyone who expects first-class cuisine and sits at the table "just" because of that will be disappointed.

The food is good, but unfortunately the price-performance ratio is not right at all. The prices are exorbitantly high and the service is just ok. There is potential for improvement here: if more attention were paid to the feel-good atmosphere of the guests instead of catering to artificial exclusivity.

I was really looking forward to a birthday meal here but the service was terrible and the food mediocre at best, waiter didn’t check in, didn’t ask for our drinks order. It should be a great place, the mussels were nice and it was a generous portion but the tarts Tatin was fairly bland.

Cocktails ok, but with a lot of attitude - and a bartender who was more interested in his cell phone than his guests. Rich bores and other snots meet here. It's a shame about what is actually a great place. Says a neighbor. PS: A warm greeting to the head waiter, who asked us on the way out if everything had been okay and who actually seemed to take my honest, far too politely worded answer to heart. The man has stature - the hipsters behind the bar are just posers.

Went for my wife's birthday. Seated at a crappy dark table. We moved. Service was poor. Asked for the drinks menu halfway through our meal, no one actually came back to take the drink order. Waiter seemed so busy to leave he took my main order and ran off before I could even order the side I wanted. Par for the course in Berlin, service still never fails to disappoint.

Food good, service nice. However, we had to wait a long time for the food....Unfortunately we were no longer allowed dessert because our time slot had expired...unfortunately it's really a Berlin nonsense and gave what was actually a nice evening an unpleasant aftertaste.

Great, modern, reduced ambience. If you like French cuisine, you will love it here, although it is expensive. Great service from young, hip people. The audience is correspondingly stylish. Be sure to reserve if you want a table.

The food was delicious (although every dish was missing salt), but the service was horrible. We had to chase down waiters just to get something to drink, and one of them even remarked, 'Always needing something, huh?' After asking for the bill, the waiter replied that there's no way he has time for that. Another waitress helped us out but wouldn't let my friends and I split the bill because she said it takes too long. It was quite a toxic atmosphere and tainted the entire evening. There are better places to have a great meal.

The only redeeming quality of that place is its atmosphere. I was utterly surprised by the poor quality of the food. Despite not being a budget-friendly restaurant, it's astonishing how they managed to mishandle every dish we ordered. The quality is even surpassed by the nearest doner places, I'd say. If you're in search of a fancy and delightful dinner, you're better off checking other establishments. The service wasn't terrible but left much to be desired. The staff constantly apologized for the delays, attributing them to the crowd. It seems there's a lack of effective management capable of handling both the workload and maintaining the quality of the establishment. Ironically, the best "dish" was the still water, priced at €6.50 😅.

The interior, old movies on the projector, and overall vibe were quite nice. But as soon as people put in orders and kitchen got busy, it became very warm, smell of burned meat came from the kitchen, and stayed because of poor ventilation. Mediocre or even rather bad food and not a great service (to be fair - it was quite busy). Oysters were tasteless (ordered fine de claire) and lobster in the lobster roll tasted like canned fish :/ Not something you would expect for a 40€ dish.

Ich hatte hohe Erwartungen an das Tor Bar Restaurant, da es in meiner Branche als beliebtes Ziel gilt. Leider muss ich sagen, dass meine Erfahrung alles andere als zufriedenstellend war. Zunächst einmal muss ich darauf hinweisen, dass die Preise hier deutlich über dem Durchschnitt liegen, was an sich kein Problem wäre, wenn die Qualität dem Preis entsprechen würde. Leider war das nicht der Fall. Die Speisen waren zwar akzeptabel, jedoch fehlte ihnen jeglicher Charakter und Raffinesse, die man in dieser Preisklasse erwarten würde. Besonders enttäuschend war die Vorspeise, die meiner Meinung nach völlig überteuert war. Die Burrata wirkte wie eine Verarsche, ohne jegliche Würze und serviert mit lieblos gebackenem Ciabatta, das offensichtlich aus dem Supermarkt stammte. Für den Preis hätte ich definitiv mehr erwartet. Das Creme Brulee war eine weitere Enttäuschung. Während die obere Seite gut flambiert war, war die untere Seite schlecht zubereitet und geschmacklich enttäuschend. Es fühlte sich fast wie eine Beleidigung an, für dieses Dessert so viel Geld auszugeben. Was den Service betrifft, so war die Mitarbeiterin mit den Blumentattoos zwar freundlich, jedoch schien ihre Freundlichkeit eher aufgesetzt und unecht zu sein. Es wirkte fast so, als ob sie sich nicht für unsere Zufriedenheit interessierte. Insgesamt war mein Besuch im Tor Bar Restaurant eine Enttäuschung. Das Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis stimmte überhaupt nicht, und ich kann es nicht empfehlen, besonders nicht für anspruchsvolle Feinschmecker wie mich, obwohl die Drinks sehr gut waren.

Super tasty food, very great restaurant. Ordered up and down the menu and all courses were on point. I also think it's great that there are so many non-alcoholic wines, long drinks, etc. on offer.

We went to the bar yesterday. It's not the first time we've been to the bar, but this time it was so terrible that I don't even know where to start. Over a month ago we reserved a table for 7 people, it was a friend's birthday. We got the worst table near the entrance. He was small, people were always hanging around him and there was a strong draft from the door. Then the fun started, probably the staff at this place has changed but the service was as bad as ever. Aside from letting the waiter sit at the table to take the order, he allowed himself to be distracted while ordering by other people saying goodbye to him or simply distracting him. In addition to the limited space at the table, we even left empty plates that were taken away because waiters were not attending to the tables at all, whereupon we were told that we had to call and ask for them to be cleared. As a restaurateur, I was simply shocked by such service. We ordered meat which was just horribly over salted so we left a lot of the food on the table. The quality of the food was also poor. Unfortunately, I have completely lost the desire to visit your restaurant again. I wish you work with your staff and hire people with gastronomic training for such a job if you want to position your restaurant like this!

I like to go there for a cocktail or two at the bar. The bartender is not very cheerful but he makes good cocktails 🍸

Good food, but the risotto, for example, was watery, the mousse was heavy and the champagne was really sour. Then it's better to serve a crémant for the same price or a good champagne for a higher price.

Hatten am Silvesterabend einen Tisch bestellt . Wir erwarteten einen stilvollen Abend . Was uns geboten wurde war eine mittlere Katastrophe. Die Kellner waren mit sich beschäftigt. Das gesamte Personal schien ungelernt . Ein kleiner Kellner rotzte ins Spülbecken für die Gläser und wusch sich sein Gesicht. Auf die bitte den Tisch vor dem Essen zu reinigen machte man sich Lustig. Tisch klebte komplett. In diesem Restaurant wird durch die Art und Weise der Kellner alles kaputt gemacht . Für 200 Euro zu zweit in einer Stunde an Verzehr Kosten erwarte ich Hygiene und Stil. Die positiven Bewertungen erscheinen mir rätselhaft. Nie wieder.

After visiting the restaurant, we had mixed feelings. The pleasant French atmosphere and delicious cocktails were spoiled by the staff when we ordered beef tartare ( which was not really good) and found a long hair in it. Not only did the staff not remove it from our bill, they didn't even apologize to us. They silently took it away and silently brought the replacement. We left feeling disappointed.

Das Essen schmeckte zwar trotz allem dem war ein Haar zu finden dementsprechend ist dies für mich ein absolutes No-Go Das Restaurant sollte sich ein neues Motto zulegen Außen hui Innen Pfui.

The place was very nice , the staff was beyond amazing and helpful , the place was a bit crowded which is fine however it’s annoying when your sitting on a table and people are standing next to u and keep bumping into your hand while trying to have a meal , now as for the food , we tried many stuff like side dishes and drinks , all were fine and I took a cheeseburger as the main dish , it was so horrible , I never have not finished a plate at a resturant , however I could not finish the burger at all , it was so oily and soggy I was almost gonna throw up , we ended up paying around 100 euro a person so I expected it to be better and not being served inedible food

Food was incredible, but won't make up for the unorganized service staff operations. The food is what you would expect for the price tag, but service needs training and a manager that puts some structure and discipline into operations.

Ein wirklich außergewöhnliches "Stück" Gastronomie mit einem berühmten Inhaber. Das Châteaubriand ist unglaublich gut, ich denke, ich habe noch nie so ein gutes Stück Fleisch in so exzellenter Zubereitung genossen. Die Preise sind (leider) am oberen Ende der Skala angesiedelt, aber nicht teuer, sondern (fast im wahren Sinne des Wortes) preiswert, also "den Preis wert". Dass seit neuerem die Beilagen aber extra gezahlt werden müssen ist einen Tick zu viel, wie ich finde, deswegen ein Stern weniger für den Service (obwohl der Service an sich ebenso ganz weit oben angesiedelt ist).

Wir waren gestern zu zweit in der Tor Bar und sind wirklich enttäuscht worden. Zunächst hatte ich einen positiven Eindruck: Die Tische waren zumindest draußen nett eingedeckt, ein üppiges Blumenbouquet stand am Eingang und im inneren wurde die lebendige Atmosphäre von guter Musik untermalt. Dieser positive Eindruck währte jedoch nicht für lange. Am Tisch Platz genommen wurden zwar bald die Getränke aufgenommen. Diese haben dann aber leidlich lange auf sich warten lassen. Eine freundliche Begrüßung oder eine Getränkeempfehlungen gab es an dieser Stelle nicht. Mit dem Servieren der Getränke wurden keine Speisen aufgenommen. Wir mussten den Service einiger Zeit selbst zum Tisch rufen. An dieser Stelle schien uns etwas Brot oder ein Gruß aus der Küche angebracht, weil kleine Tellerchen eingedeckt waren. Dieser Gedanke blieb aber ein unerfüllter Wunsch. Diese kleinen Tellerchen blieben den ganzen Abend über leer und wurden auch nicht abgeräumt. Das Essen wurde serviert. Dabei war leider eins von zwei Gerichten falsch. -kein Wort des Bedauerns, gar der Entschuldigung. Man hatte nicht mal die Gelegenheit etwas zu trinken nach zu bestellen. Die Servicekräfte haben, wie dann auch den Rest des Abends, unsere leeren Gläser nicht zum Anlass nehmen wollen uns weitere Getränke anzubieten. Wir wartete so weitere 10 min auf eine vollständige Bestellung. In dieser Zeit verspeisten wir gemeinsam meine Beilage: Die Pommes, sowie Ketchup und Mayonnaise waren mit an Sicherheit grenzender Wahrscheinlichkeit convenience Produkte von mäßiger Qualität. Den Tiefkühl-Pommes fehlt es mindestens an Salz, die Mayonnaise war einfach nur sauer und der Ketchup war süßlich bis geschmacklos. Da hilft es auch nicht wenn die Pommes in einem Schälchen aus Hotelsilber serviert werden: Jede Pommesbude bekommt das besser hin. Mit nun wirklich großem Hunger machten wir uns an unsere Speisen: Jedoch war der Anblick des Risottos ein Trauerspiel. Die bestellten Trüffel musste man mit der Lupe suchen. Es waren nur kleine Brösel: Nichtmal eine ganze Scheibe lag auf dem Gericht (und das für 28€). Auch sonst waren im Risotto wenig Pilze zu finden. Nur Stücke vom Kräuterseitling waren auszumachen. Andere Pilze waren gar nicht vorhanden. Für ausgelobte „Pilze der Saison und Trüffel“ ist dies eine an Betrug grenzende Frechheit. Das zweite Gericht: Ratatouille. Das ebenso wirklich ein Trauerspiel. Kein Salz, kein Geschmack von Kräutern, keine Fruchtigkeit. Einziger Geschmack war Wasser und das Bittere der Aubergine. Wir hätten uns gerne schon an dieser Stelle beschwert, allerdings wurden wir von den Servicekräften keines Blickes gewürdigt. Auf Grund der langen Wartezeiten, ließ unserer Hunger uns die Gerichte dann doch aufessen. Wir saßen dann noch weitere 30min vor leeren Tellern und Gläsern - auf unserem winzigen Tisch stapelte sich das Geschirr. Dem Service war es egal. Ich bezahlte am Tresen und wir verließen enttäuscht das Lokal. Schöne Grüße an dieser Stelle an den Oberkellner (Er trug eine Weste mit Elefantenbrosche) der meine Beschwerde zustimmend aufnahm. Die Brasserie Torbar wird leider ihren eigenen Ansprüchen nicht gerecht. Dies ist keine gehobene Gastronomie, auch wenn die Preise es vermuten lassen. Die Speisen sind mittelmäßig und der Service unterirdisch schlecht. Es gibt keine Nettigkeiten, kein Nachfragen, keine Diensleistungsbereitschaft. Für uns kam das Restaurant einem Taubenschlag gleich. Es gibt wirklich enorm viel Personal im Restaurant. Allerdings läuft dies nur wie aufgescheuchte Hühner hin und her und machen sich selbst die Arbeit schwer. Vielleicht geben wir der Torbar wann anderes nochmal eine zweite Chance. Grundsätzlich könnte es ein charmanter Ort sein.
