Supposedly a trendy bar. Lots of self-promoters. The food is disappointing: the risotto was lukewarm. The duck was served without any side dish (we weren't even informed of this).

I’d like to update my previous 4-star review and not base it on my last (rather disappointing visit). The food has always been good, and while the service can sometimes be inconsistent, our feedback has been taken seriously. The atmosphere is pleasant, and we often choose Torbar for ourselves and our guests. Overall, I do believe it deserves 5 stars for the very good experience.

The seafood platter was rather average

the service is a CATASTROPHE and the food is mid!! We were so disappointed :( we were warned by many friends about the service but it was genuinely worse than expected. They basically just completely forgot about us for an hour. This was a Tuesday night! And really ruined the vibes on my birthday.

I can only agree with what the previous speakers have said: The fact that wheelchair and stroller paths are constantly blocked by the posh customers' ticket extensions and that management does absolutely nothing about it is beyond pathetic.

All the stars are only because this is the place to be, see and be seen—but the quality of the food is far from 4 stars 😕 But because everyone comes, they can charge exorbitant prices even for drinks: €6.50 for a beer and €80 for a bottle of Crémant were the cheapest options, cocktails start at €14.50, and instead of sparkling wine, you can only toast with champagne for €14 per glass 😮 On top of that, you sit outside, shoulder to shoulder with the people at the next table 😕

I'm always impressed, I come here regularly. Cool atmosphere, casual service, a manageable menu with consistent quality.

Great bistro with awesome atmosphere and service. The food is also delicious. We ordered the steak frites with a Beef tartare and 2 filet mignon. Filets and steak were cooked on point but sadly the 3 steak frites plates were served cold along with a cold sauce. We didn’t complain since we were too hungry. We ended with some mousse au chocolat which is definitely recommended.

Top-notch food and service. I drank too much yesterday and had too much fun, and cut myself on a broken wine glass. The waiters were so attentive and kind, checking on me the whole time and even made me a bandage. Thank you❤️

We were looking forward to a great evening after an exciting day in downtown Berlin. Thankfully, we were able to get a 9 p.m. reservation, even though it was very short notice. When we arrived, I was turned away because of my outfit, an outfit that was seen several times in the restaurant. However, the owner seemed to mind. I told him it was no problem, I could change, but my two companions could sit down. This didn't seem to suit him either. The place was packed, and it seemed as if they had simply forgotten about our reservation and were just looking for an excuse. A very memorable evening and unworthy of such a beautiful-looking place. Appearances can be deceiving. We recommend the lovely Italian restaurant nearby called Al Contadino instead.

For years, management has done absolutely nothing to stop the well-heeled clientele from blocking pedestrians with their flashy cars as a matter of course. Who cares where the wheelchairs and strollers go when the oysters are delicious? Now, tables are even being placed in front of the last few booths. Awesome place! ... and an even better clientele.

If you are in Berlin I highly recommend to visit this place. With the ambiance of a veritable French Brasserie, the great taste of the food, the nice atmosphere contributes to the nice experience.

Here is my review once more, because the Torbar tried to remove it 🙂. I wanted to express my deep disappointment regarding my recent visit to Torbar. For years, I've been a loyal patron, frequencing the bar every two weeks due to its welcoming atmosphere and wonderful staff. However, my latest experience was marred by the unacceptable behavior of the new maitre. His disrespectful treatment of us was shocking and completely out of place for such a reputable establishment. It's disheartening to see a deserving bar like Torbar tarnished by such poor management. I hope this matter is addressed promptly.

Solid place, but quite pricy. The steak was delicious, but the presentation wasn’t well done. Otherwise kind staff for the most part.

I came here for the fourth time this Saturday, August 9, 2025, to celebrate my birthday, and I've been delighted on my previous visits. But something went wrong with the kitchen or the chef, although the atmosphere itself is fine. I was completely disappointed with the food. The artichokes were overcooked and the meat was not at all flavorful.

The best bartender that I have seen

Didn't blow me away. The stroganoff was super salty, the meat rather tough. The rösti was lacking in flavor. The burger was okay, but nothing special. The tartar was good. The windowsills you were sitting next to were extremely dirty. Ordering flexibility (swapping sides) was completely nonexistent. Bottom line: A lot of hype. A lot of money. Moderate value.

Had dinner there with my wife last night. Excellent food and nice atmosphere and service. Was recommended by a friend and ditto.

It’s been a pleasure after grabbing attention as an international vip Theo Newman was hosted properly. Drinks are according to expectation. Ambience during the weekend and guests are what I was looking

Pros: - Extremely good drinks (a clear recommendation for a bar) - Beef quality is also more than just OK Cons: - Service is often subpar - With the exception of the beef, there's unfortunately little to be found that's convincing (e.g., risotto lacks flavor and is overcooked; sauces are often simply poorly prepared) - The food doesn't offer the right value for money - Outside seating is sometimes very cramped and crowded

We ordered the “burrata” as a starter, and the cheese was obviously way too old, as the mozzarella on the outside was hard as a rock, and the inside was definitely not stracciatella, but looked more like cream cheese. When we told our waitress, she was extremely condescending and rude, and tried to gaslight us by telling us “that’s just how the cheese is”. We had to wait an hour and a half for our main course, the steak frites, which was decent to be fair. The whole evening we didn’t see a single smile from any of the staff, towards us or any other guests.

Very chic and well-admired spot resembling a Parisian sidewalk cafe. We had a reservation but arrived half an hour earlier, and they were really kind and seated us within 5 minutes at a lovely outdoor table. The host was lovely and also took our orders - he gave great recommendations, and I was more than satisfied with my steak. Get the Cafe de Paris sauce, it is so tasty. Reservations prioritized, so make a reservation in advance!

The waiter was totally unfriendly, and the food didn't taste good at all. Overrated!

The Google maps reviews for this business are worthless. Thei Social media manager gets anything negative marked as defamatory. We had our meal ruined by smokers smoke drifting inside the restaurant but apparently telling this truth is defamatory. Goto Yelp, Tripadvisor or Trustpilot and this restaurant is barely above 3 stars. Avoid. Faking your review position by gaming the system doesn't make you a genuine 4.6 star deserving restaurant

why do I always get stared at walking by this place?

The food was all good, but the entrecôte was unfortunately too tough. The staff seemed annoyed, and unfortunately, the restaurant isn't particularly birthday-friendly. The atmosphere was nice and cozy, but a bit cramped.

Delicious drinks, a super friendly staff, and a relaxed atmosphere. We love coming here. Dogs are always welcome, too!

They've now decided to charge guests on Sundays for an overpriced menu: entrecote with fries and salad (menu???) for €45, bad sauce, and not-so-good meat either. That really wasn't advertising for this place. Once and never again, we definitely won't be coming back.

Brasserie Torbar in Berlin was for me a rather mixed experience. Unfortunately, the food didn't meet my expectations; it was mediocre at best and served lukewarm. The fries were overly salty, which was disappointing. Given the quality of the meal, I felt the prices were too high for what I received. However, I must commend the staff for their friendliness and attentiveness. Overall, it was an average visit, and I hope they can improve their food quality in the future. --- Feel free to adjust anything if needed!

I was absolutely thrilled with the Torbar – a perfect blend of cozy atmosphere, stylish interior, and first-class drinks. The bartenders know their craft, are super friendly, and even mixed us custom cocktails that perfectly matched our tastes. I particularly liked the relaxed atmosphere – ideal for an evening with friends or a casual date. I'll definitely be back. Highly recommended!

We were fooled by the artificially inflated review scores. This restaurant challenges any and all reviews that criticse the experience. Our evening was ruined because the smoke from the outside tables came straight inside over our table. No attempt is made to protect diners from the smoke from outside. We might as well have been lighting up at the table ourselves. Google, this is 100% a genuine review, and yet I know full well you will remove it. But till you do, perhaps I will spare a few people from the torment we endured.

The waitress' demeanor was extremely unprofessional and arrogant. After dinner, the wine list was presented to us again. When we wanted to order another bottle, the gentleman (tall, dark-haired, with a beard) asked us in a very unpleasant manner to vacate the table...for walk-ins. Yes, many restaurants now limit table reservations to 2 hours, but I've never experienced this before—especially since we weren't informed of it at the beginning. I've been to Torbar several times—the food and atmosphere are great. But I won't put up with the condescending behavior of the "doorman" again. Fyi: My first (negative) review...

Great service! A dream location to feel the ambience of Berlin.

Unfortunately, we won't be coming back - the doorman was terrible. The food was delicious and as expected. However, this doesn't make up for the fact that the service seemed very hectic and inattentive. We were able to overlook this, as the restaurant was full. But when the doorman/waiter became extremely unfriendly and arrogant, we had to leave. Very unprofessional and 0% customer-oriented.

A French Bra series??? I have no idea… We were mistreated by Gorilla Turco, who certainly thought he was a Great Manager. A piece of advice- choose the staff that represents you carefully. Or write above - kebab and we are all happy.

This is a nice fine dining place with great service and good selection of wine and cocktails. I really enjoyed their crepe which is made on the table in front of you! The cocktails are also well made and they are basically some twist on the classic ones! The service is fast and polite . If you are a big group please reserve and come ☺️

Este lugar tiene un poco de revuelo al respecto con el ‘camarero jefe’ que parece hacer la llamada sobre quién entra y quién no. (Caso en cuestión - la mesa a mi lado se quedó vacía durante un turno completo.) Favorecen a los jóvenes y encantadores. Otra queja - ellos NO tienen idea de qué hacer con un restaurante solo. Inicialmente me pusieron en una mesa alta que ni siquiera es parte del comedor. Eventualmente (sin haber tomado un pedido de nada) me movió a una mesa media a pesar de que una mesa de ventana estaba libre. Recibí servicio después de que la gente amable en la mesa de al lado me lo solicitara. (Nota: las mesas interiores están MUY juntas. Como si tus brazos y piernas casi tocaran a tu vecino. La comida y el vino eran buenos. Recomiendo encarecidamente la mousse de chocolate. Pero había esa mesa vacía en la ventana JUSTO A MI LADO todo el tiempo que estaba comiendo que es donde mi mirada tenía que ir estando tan cerca de mis compañeros comensales.

Service is "robotic" friendly, food quality is just acceptable - at maximum prices, and drink quality (I tried champagne and Pinot Gris) is unacceptable at also maximum prices... it's actually quite a shame, because the interior and ambience are really nice.

La comida era bastante buena, aunque cara. No es que tengamos que disfrutarlo. Estábamos sentados justo en una ventana interior, y fuera de la ventana había una mesa de fumadores. ¿Dónde sopló el humo? Por todas partes mientras tratábamos de comer. No pudimos cerrar la ventana, hacía demasiado calor.

The bar is apparently very popular, we were lucky and got a table for two after a short wait. Drinks were excellent, the atmosphere was chic and the clientele was rather upscale. Therefore you should also expect higher prices. Service was very friendly!!!!

In general, I think Torbar is a cool restaurant with a nice vibe!! However, we felt a bit uncomfortable during our dinner as we were seated practically at the end of someone else’s birthday dinner table. Compared to every other table in the restaurant this one seemed just like an add in, and we felt like we were in the way the whole time as waiters could barely get by. There were several other free tables of two and when we asked if we could move they said all of them had guests that “specially requested” them which I highly doubt… The dinner table next to us even felt uncomfortable as we spoke about it with them and it just made the dinner awkward and not that enjoyable. For the price you pay, I’d expect a bit more hospitality and service. The food is average, and the restaurant is super loud and hot.

Very disappointed with this restaurant. The oysters as a starter were good, nothing to say about the freshness, but at €4.50 a piece, it’s clearly excessive: pure and simple theft. Then, the fries are obviously frozen, and it shows: most of the people at the table left them, just like the salad, also uninteresting. The sauce that came with it was very sour and without any real taste. The meat was okay, but again the sauce that came with it was totally bland. For a single dish at €42, we expect much better. Another revealing detail: we asked for a carafe of water… which we never saw arrive. The only positive point of this meal: the wine, which was very good. But that's not enough to make up for the rest. Totally unbalanced value for money.

Impossible bouncer, unfriendly and bad behavior.

I had a Cheese Burger over there, it wasn't that good as I expected! But liked the Cafe de Paris and loved the Atmospher and Service!

Everything was very good. But the astronomical prices are not justified. The asparagus was cold and the mussels were ok but not exceptional. The oysters were great though. So, everything is very good, but way too expensive. For these prices I expect world class. That wasn't it.

Very friendly service and good drinks. The food was good, but the price was also rather high. None of us liked the crepe.

Pretty good food. Expensive. But pretty good. But no ability to enjoy it, as the seat smokers right beside the windows, and thus the smoke from many chain smokers blew all over us. When we shut the windows, its was so hot, we were dying. We won't return, its a a smokers bar effectively inside and out.

A taste of Paris in Berlin (and I am French)

The wine and food were really delicious!!! We went there on a Sunday for steak and fries. Highly recommended! The dessert was also heavenly :) Unfortunately the service was different, we were hardly noticed at times and it took forever until the table was cleared, even though three waiters kept walking past with empty hands.

Our waiter could not be any kinder (I saw on the receipt I think his name is Glenn?? If correct, Glenn you rock). He brought out a special kind of salt for my mom from the kitchen. This isn’t his fault but the steak I order was quite tough and chewy and hearing this feedback he quickly offered to replace. The service was top quality. As for atmosphere, super fun and lively and beautiful! As for food, the scallop carpaccio was incredible and I loved my aperol spritz. As I mentioned above I wasn’t a fan of the meat but I think I got a bad cut, it happens. Moral of the story, go here for a great time!

Good French Brasserie, a little expensive and in need of a change in the Cremant selection as it is not exceptional given the price.

Super flavorful! ceaser salad, cafe de paris & beef tartar so so so good! we also had a mac and cheese side which was in my opinion a bit too sweet, but it was still very nice! we were toooo hungry to snap a picture, but rest assured every dish was devoured🍽️

Unfortunately, a very negative experience. We booked a table and they confirmed the reservation, but when we arrived, there was no table ready for us. After an unpleasant conversation with the staff, we finally found one. The seats are shoulder to shoulder. The restaurant is terribly noisy and the staff is not able to serve, because the small space of the restaurant does not allow it. If they charge €38 and more for a meal, it cannot be of such a standard. Moreover, the food is absolutely average. Commercially it is certainly excellent for the owner, but the enjoyment of the food is zero.

Was gut war: + Vorspeisen und Drinks waren sehr gut + cooler Ort und tolle Atmosphäre Was schlecht war: - Reservierung nur mit Hinterlegung der Kreditkarte, ohne dass irgendwo die Stornierungsbedingungen stehen - Wir hatten bei der Reservierung angegeben, dass wir einen besonderen Anlass feiern. Als wir im Restaurant ankamen, war das erste, was man uns nach „Guten Abend“ sagte, dass wir den Tisch eine halbe Stunde früher freimachen müssten als unser gebuchter Slot besagt. - Es gab viele Kellner, aber es war nicht klar, ob einer für uns zuständig war oder ob sie für verschiedene Aufgaben da waren. Es dauerte immer lange, bis eine/r reagierte, was ja kontraproduktiv ist, wenn man Gäste schnell wieder loswerden oder viel verkaufen möchte - Von uns vier Gästen hatten zwei das Café de Paris bestellt: die beiden Fleischportionen waren nicht nur lauwarm, sie lagen beide zusammen auf einem großen Teller mit einem sehr dünnen Bett aus Sauce, die Sauce war kalt. - Wir reklamierten und wünschten heißes Essen sowie „Sauce“ - While waiting aßen wir die dazugehörigen Fritten, die wirklich überhaupt nicht gut waren - Das Fleisch kam tatsächlich heiß zurück mit etwas mehr Saucenspiegel und Sauce in einem Kännchen, das aber in einem fast cineastischen Move vor uns ausgeschüttet wurde und den Mantel eines anderen Gastes ruinierte. Wir bekamen aber zum Glück nichts ab - Es kam ein neues Kännchen Sauce, sie war auch heiß - wurde uns aber später mit 5€ extra in Rechnung gestellt . Der Ärger über diese Kleinlichkeit wiegt leider schwerer als die 5€ wert wären. - Auf der Rechnung war auch ein anderer Wein als wir bestellt hatten. Hatten wir nun den, den wir gewünscht hatten? Das ließ sich in dem Kellner- Durcheinander nicht mehr aufklären Fazit: Wir kommen natürlich nicht wieder und raten ab, falls man einen besonderen Abend verbringen möchte. Viel Attitude, aber wenig professionelles Agieren.

What was good: + Starters and drinks were very good + cool place and great atmosphere What was bad: - Reservation only with credit card deposit, without the cancellation conditions being stated anywhere - We stated when making the reservation that we were celebrating a special occasion. When we arrived at the restaurant, the first thing we were told after “good evening” was that we had to vacate the table half an hour earlier than our booked slot said. -There were a lot of waiters, but it wasn't clear if one was responsible for us or if they were there for different tasks. It always took a long time for someone to react, which is counterproductive if you want to get rid of guests quickly or sell a lot - Two of us four guests had ordered the Café de Paris: the two portions of meat were not only lukewarm, they were both together on a large plate with a very thin bed of sauce, the sauce was cold. - We complained and requested hot food and “sauce” - While waiting we ate the accompanying fries, which really weren't good at all - The meat actually came back hot with a little more sauce and sauce in a jug, but in an almost cinematic move it was poured out in front of us and spilled on another guest's coat. Luckily we didn't get anything - A new pot of sauce arrived, it was also hot - but we were later charged an extra €5. Unfortunately, the anger over this pettiness outweighs the value of €5. - There was also a different wine on the bill than we ordered. Did we now have the one we wanted? This could no longer be cleared up in the waiter confusion Conclusion: Of course we won't be coming back and we advise against it if you want to spend a special evening. Lots of attitude, but little professional behavior.

Food very tasty, service and ambience good, all in a good shop! Often full so reservations are best. The risotto could be improved a bit, but mussel burgers and steak were good

Wonderful trendy bar with everything that goes with it!

The food is good, unfortunately the service is a catastrophe. In the beginning you are told you have the table for 2 hours, ok that is normal and when the service works that should be no problem. They waited 30 Minutes to take our (empty) plates, with cutlery signalizing we are finished. I asked for the desert menu, nothing happened. However they do come (with your plates still on the table!) and tell you “sorry you have to leave your time is up.” For the price point and type of restaurant, really an experience not to repeat.

We waited a bit to go to our table but the service was really polite, they even offered us something to drink while we were waiting. The food was really tasty, but took some time to be ready. The only thing was that we ordered one glass of wine each from the menu for 9€, and ended up paying 18€ per glass without being asked if we wanted the bigger glass or not. The atmosphere is warm and nice, easy to talk with your group

Lively French Restaurant with good food and drinks! Berlin OG

Unfortunately, reality does not live up to the hype. Overrated and overpriced. Some of the tables are far too narrow - especially on Valentine's Day, it seems like it's all about making quick money. The prices are high, but the quality doesn't justify it: risotto too sour, sauce bland, fries mediocre - overall nothing special. If you would like to go out for a one-off meal in Berlin for the money (risotto €32!), please get in touch. I have some addresses there.

Food was good but there were some issues. We made a group Rez and opted for the classic menu. 1-Our fixed menu included a glass of champagne, but when I asked the waitress, she initially said it was not included. Only after I insisted, she went to check and served us our drinks. This was not a great start to the evening, and as a guest, I don't have to push for what is already part of the fixed menu. 2-One of my friends asked if she could have risotto instead of the main course and specifically asked if we can "replace" it and after confirming this with her, they decided to “not to replace” but charge €32 for the risotto. This was really unreasonable. 3- I specifically asked in advance via email if in group reservations, each person can pay individually, they said yes via email, but, at the end of the night, when we were ready to pay, the waitress told us that this was not possible. She also said that the person who had confirmed it via email before "doesn't know," which was unprofessional. Overall, the food was good, but the service and attitude made the experience uncomfortable. Go if you want good food but unnecessary stress.

Wir waren binnen eines Jahres mehrfach in der Torbar essen und waren jedes Mal sehr zufrieden. Sowohl mit Freunden als auch mit kleinem Kind und mehren Erwachsenen wurden wir angemessen freundlich empfangen und haben gut gegessen und uns wohlgefühlt. Zu Prime-Zeiten kann es voll werden und man sitzt recht eng (draußen wie drinnen): Dadurch entsteht vor allem abends ein "brummiges Gefühl" im Laden, was gut zu den sehr leckeren Cocktails und dem hippen, nahbaren Servicepersonal mit flottem Spruch auf den Lippen passt. Das Essen selbst war jedes Mal top - die Bernaise ist klasse und auch die Cdp-Soße ein Gedicht. Fleischqualität hervorragend, Vorspeisen klein und etwas teuer.

We just went for a cocktail at the bar, loud crowd, Berlin Mitte, we really enjoyed it! Fast service & great drinks with Asian influences. Glenn's team was very attentive.

Service not attentive Price level not acceptable

The food was very good, although rather expensive. Unfortunately, the service was absolutely subpar or non-existent. There was a very hectic atmosphere, no one was responsible for our table - plates were only cleared away when asked, and drinks that had been ordered were always forgotten. In response to our feedback at the end that we were dissatisfied with the service, there was no apology, only “I know what you mean”. It's a shame - we definitely won't be coming back. Update: had to explain via Google Removals that my review above was not libel. The shop owner actively takes action against bad reviews.

Ambience terrible but in Berlin this is popular. Service even worse. Forgot something from the order twice. The food doesn't come at the same time. My wife waited the whole time while I ate.

Food not bad but not a hit for the prices either. But what's not working at all is that the restaurant has no heating in the middle of winter, it was very cold and we were sitting at the door. There was no alternative because there were too many of us. Apparently it wasn't the case that it had just been canceled, then people would have been understanding. But this seemed to be a known problem for some time. This should have been mentioned when making the reservation. In general, the chairs etc. were rather uncomfortable for us, but they were still nicely furnished. Service was okay but you can expect more given the prices. Chateaubriand was good but unfortunately it didn't cut it in the end. Some of the side dishes were forgotten or cold, the salad too sour. Unfortunately I can't recommend it. Too bad...

We've been there a couple of times and loved it each visit. The food is delicious, the service is super organised, engaging and just overall extremely friendly and welcoming :)

Let's start with the positive, the food was perfect as usual, absolutely recommended. Unfortunately, we were the first guests at 5:30 p.m. (sorry about that, but we have kids) and were received anything but warmly. People look at you stupidly in good German and ask you whether it's ready yet. The store is cold and the staff is in the middle of mise-en-place. Table not ready, you are seated at the bar, initially ignored by the bartender instead of saying a quick hello. Appetizers come, drinks don't, only after we ask again. The “host” comes in 1920s style, the rest of the staff wears clothes like they would at home on the sofa. Doesn't fit. To the operator: I know you are well attended and have therefore developed a certain level of confidence towards guests, but unfortunately what we experienced bears no relation to the beautiful restaurant, your reputation or the great food. Please improve! ❤️😉

I have been a frequent guest at the Torbar and have always been very satisfied with the service and the food. Today is the first time that I leave the restaurant really upset. We went out to eat and were picked up exactly 2 hours to the minute after our reservation began Table removed. I still had to drink my €15 wine in one go. The reservation confirmation said that we had the table for 2 1/2 hours. Super unpleasant to be moderated like that, I won't be coming back.

Very tastefully decorated restaurant with very good food. The price level is correspondingly very high. It could have been a great evening... Unfortunately we sat right next to a side door. This was mainly used by the staff to bring in food from the neighboring house. Apparently the staff all grew up without doors as they unfortunately couldn't close them. When asked to close it, the response was extremely rude and rude. Too bad! Because we won't come back like this!

We were disappointed with our visit, even though the food was mostly good, although sometimes cold and bland. The service staff were absolutely stressed/overwhelmed, the manager/coordinator that evening was absolutely unfriendly and unpleasant to deal with. Above all, I find it unacceptable when employees are treated unfairly, sometimes even intolerably, as we experienced from managers (a gentleman with a suit and blonde hair). There was a really hectic, stressful atmosphere. Only people who are as close to the concept of stylish and young as possible are “desirable” and as soon as you have eaten you are subtly and constantly asked to leave so that the table can be reoccupied. What a shame!

Food and drinks are very tasty, exceptional and served in large portions. However, the price is above average. Unfortunately, the ambience isn't great - at peak times you're sitting close together and it gets very loud, and it was definitely too dark for us. The staff is very polite and professional, even if it sometimes took a long time for someone to come.

you can feel the French vibe, the food is fucked up, there’s a lot of delicacy that you don’t know how to try, but the staff suggested it, the feeling is cool👍👍👍

Two evenings and two great ones! Great oysters and steaks, delicious drinks and always smiling and positive staff. A noisy and full of guests place. If you want to be sure of a table, make a reservation in advance, even in the middle of the week.
