Brasserie Am Gendarmenmarkt in Berlin

I found the Brasserie randomly when looking for new restaurants I had never been to in Berlin. We had a great experience. The place is nice, the service is good and the food was great. The blood sausage is great, and the steak frites was amazing (it's rare to find proper meat in Germany), especially for the price! The Peche Melba was very nice, with a lot of depth.

A really good place on Gendarmenmarkt. Even with a party of 10 people, all the dishes arrived at the same time and were truly delicious. The drink selection is good, although the selection of cold hop drinks is, in my opinion, limited and – compared to the other drinks – too generic. Nevertheless, I would visit this restaurant again.

A place with a nice atmosphere. I had fish. They bring butter with it. It tasted good. The vanilla ice cream was also delicious. Also, if you've been to Germany, I recommend you try apple juice here or anywhere else. There's just one thing to watch out for, they mix alcohol into the butter that's brought to pour over the fish. That way, the butter looks more crystallized when it melts. It's definitely worth reminding the waiter beforehand.

Pure tourist trap -asian staff was super nice but treated badly by the owners/managers - not nice to watch. The quality of the food was not consistent. We got tuna tataki - ok, but top small pieces and not the best quality tuna. Escargots were not suitable for hunan food. Not fresh and mushy in consistency. On top of that they were burned. They were not esten. Flamkuchen was OK, but not authentic in style. As of now I can not recommend eating at tje Brasserie. Edit. This review has ben edited with more details and one star added because the restaurants reply show that they take their customers opinion seriously. Thats how to handle critic. Well done!

The lunch here was great! And the location is in the heart of the city which allows time to explore and see the sites.

Disgusting service: I used to love this restaurant but I am never coming here again; they have some terrible quality server now who Misunderstood everything we asked for Lied about the food being prepared when we asked (I was having a medical emergency and needed to leave) Made a scene about our simple request to please let us go. The serving staff insisted that the food was ready so we wouldn’t leave, then made us wait for 20 minutes and the. Served the cold food and I was supremely disappointed with how this evening turned out. Even when I was leaving after paying for food I couldn’t eat because of my situation; they tried to tell me I was wrong instead of just listening. I wish I had never come here for my date- thank you for ruining an evening that started so well and could have been handled so so much better with a little empathy, but instead you chose to make profit off of your food. Very petty: you have lost a faithful customer forever. Do not recommend at all. What a waste of a date

Der Besuch in der Brasserie war eine Geburtstagsüberraschung! Diese ist gelungen. Absolut leckeres Essen und die Bedienung war sehr aufmerksam und superhöflich. Danke Felix ( der Mann macht seinen Job mit Herzblut!)

Very good food, friendly staff, right on the Gendarmenmarkt.

Just walked in on the off chance, this was a combined birthday and anniversary night out for us. And I have to say what a pleasure it was the decor is amazing the staff absolutely brilliant and the food was amazing ( well done to the kitchen staff). Yes it is expensive but you pay for what you get. If you are in the area and want a nice night out definitely recommend this place.

Service top, food not so much: Quality of the steaks is mediocre, not at all appropriate for the high price, side salad is mushy, everything is a bit unimaginative and unloving, fries are cold... and when the high bill comes for this average, it's just annoying...

We were there spontaneously before a concert. Unfortunately we were a little late, but our order was completed super quickly and was super leggy and beautifully presented. Big praise also to the nice waitress :-) we will come back and recommend it to others :-))))

A restaurant with a very long tradition, you can tell in small places, but also the long years, like the chair at the table. At least this one I was sitting on, no longer as stable as it was at the beginning, but no reason for the loss of a star. Now let's get to the criticism. The service, the ambience, the menu, the wine selection, everything was really outstanding. Unfortunately, the food wasn't worth five stars in some places. Let's start with the tartare, which worked, didn't taste like it had just been freshly made, it tasted like it had been treated in some way, similar to how you would get a Mettwurst from a butcher, albeit of a much higher quality. I would also have liked the small quail egg raw (yolk) to incorporate into the tartare. Unfortunately, the black pudding was already cold when it arrived at the table, the steak fries were on point, but here I had French. Expected French fries (super thin), what arrived were steakhouse fries (quite thick). I spontaneously ordered Sauce Bernaise, which not only came straight away, it was most likely actually made by myself. What was really great was the duck, but what could also be criticized was the goat's cheese starter; for the price it could have been twice the amount of goat's cheese. In total we paid €50 per person for four main courses, two starters, a bottle of water and three glasses of wine.

Good ambience, very attentive and friendly service, a very tasty lobster foam soup and a good Trilogie de Mer platter.

It is a house as you would expect at this point. Everything was very good, but of course not exactly cheap. But the price and performance are absolutely the same.

Comida encantadora, pero mi marido pidió filete medio a bien y se puso medio raro. Afortunadamente no le importó, pero todavía no era lo que pedía. El restaurante estaba a solo 5 minutos a pie de nuestro hotel, así que era ideal. El servicio era bueno, pero nuestro servidor podría haber sido más amable y cálido. Filete muy caro y hay que añadir patatas fritas con un coste extra.

Tolles 20er-Jahre Ambiente für einen besonderen Abend! Der Kellner war sehr zuvorkommend und freundlich. Die Weihnauswahl ist überzeugend und das Essen war super. Wir kommen wieder.

Wir haben hier extra für einen Geburtstag einen Tisch reserviert. Da wir Frankreich sehr lieben und oft dort waren, haben wir uns für dieses Restaurant entschieden. Leider war es ein kompletter Reinfall … die Bouillabaisse war mit Abstand die schlechteste, die wir je gegessen haben. Sie enthielt kaum Fisch, dafür viel völlig zerkochtes Gemüse und sie war komplett geschmacksneutral. Das restliche Essen war auch überaus enttäuschend! Das Personal entsprach leider auch überhaupt nicht den gehobenen Preisen und der Beschreibung des Restaurants. Die Mitarbeiter waren ruppig, unhöflich und wirkten eher, wie aus einer Berliner Kneipe. So hart es klingt, hier herrscht leider mehr Schein als Sein. Eine totale Enttäuschung.

An American tourist. This was a great first meal in Berlin! Steak and duck were well prepared as was the sides. Drinks were super Tasty. Even our teenager enjoyed. Wish I had our waiters name as he was amazing.

I really liked the restaurant, but the strange opening hours - Saturday only from 5 p.m., Monday from 12 p.m. - put me off. After standing in front of closed doors once, I never came back. Still, I hope the restaurant survives.

The ambience is beautiful. And the food is very tasty. Very nice and committed staff. I would eat here again at any time.

Lovely atmosphere, and the food was very good. The waiter was excellent, very knowledgeable and helpful. He even gave some helpful advice for the best Christmas markets to visit during our stay.

El interior da un cálido reflejo de una típica cervecería francesa. El servicio era rápido y el camarero era muy acogedor y ofrece un servicio agradable. La comida era delicada y el vino sugerido por el camarero combinaba bien. Los ocho se servían al mismo tiempo y el vino se traía de la zona del decantador cuando la comida estaba en la mesa. La cervecería estaba bastante lleno, así que este es probablemente un lugar popular wery para comer, no habíamos reservado por adelantado y tuvo la suerte de conseguir una mesa para ocho.

Six stars. Or seven. Go there. Put it on your bucket list. Last week they gave me the third-best meal in my life, which has been long and full of restaurants, so you can believe me, it was great. I had the calf liver with mushrooms and Hefeweizen beer, and it was worth five Michelin stars. Perfectly cooked and with a mix of textures and tastes from the accompaniments that simply complemented on another. If you've seen "Ratatouille", this is where Remy gets the stars and rockets and galaxies from.

I ate 4 courses a la carte here today: 4 times fantastic tasting and very deliciously prepared plates & cultured drinks served by the discreet, very nice and extremely attentive staff in a top feel-good atmosphere... The "Brasserie Gendarmenmarkt" is highly recommended... I'll definitely be back and even though it's already in the star range, there aren't any moon prices here yet ;) Thank you very much!

We had a delicious lunch (suckling pig loin) with good wine and enjoyed particularly friendly and attentive service from Heike and her colleague. It was a bit too cool for us outside in the shade, but inside it was pretty empty and a bit drafty - that dampened the ambience a bit.

The madness! I found it incredibly tasty. And totally pleasant. Everything was perfect and you will definitely be full! The meat was really excellent. The drinks are completely normal but perfectly balanced. Really really good. I can't understand some of the bad comments. I give it 5 out of 5 stars for everything! Keep it up. If we are in Berlin again we will definitely come back again.

We were there yesterday. Food was good, but not outstanding, which is what I would have expected here. Service started out good and attentive, but became inattentive as the evening progressed. After handing out the dessert menu, we had to wait a long time for someone to come over to order. There wasn't much going on and two waitresses chatted instead. Waitresses didn't always know who was getting what. The dropped open napkin was not noticed. I would have expected more from a restaurant that presents itself as upscale.

We arrived following the good reviews, and we were disappointed, the schnitzel was soaked in oil and relatively salty, not worth its expensive price. The waiter was nice

The restaurant is really nice. Either for special occasions or because money is no object. But there are also dishes that are tasted to perfection and are visually presented perfectly. The service is accordingly professional and friendly.

Una hermosa y deliciosa última noche en Berlín. Nos sentamos dentro para disfrutar de la hermosa decoración y tuvimos uno de los mejores camareros de la historia. nos dijo que dividir el tour de espinacas flamencas y setas ultra - pizza de corteza fina sería suficiente para un entrante, y también que el - - excelente - - bouillabaisse entre sería demasiado grande, así que conseguir la porción de entrada en su lugar, que era de hecho un montón. Mi marido tomó un gran filete con verduras interesantes, y terminamos con su helado casero y fresas frescas. Una buena relación calidad-precio y una experiencia casi perfecta.

Pudimos cenar fuera, un lugar sombreado perfecto para disfrutar del buen tiempo. Las enormes obras de construcción en el propio Gendarmenmarkt no estropearon el ambiente. El interior se ve hermoso. El servicio fue excelente, el personal muy atento. Nuestra comida estaba muy bien presentada en porciones de buen tamaño. tuvimos el cordón de pollo bleu del menú de almuerzo a un precio razonable y un filete fritas. recomendamos ambos. La carta de vinos no está sobrevalorada.

Un lugar elegante cerca del famoso Gendarmenmarkt. Ambiente berlinés muy 30, muy bien art déco (calificado ) , excelente ambiente. La comida era deliciosa, la carta de vinos completa y la cerveza bastante rica. Ah, y sin olvidar mencionar el servicio muy profesional. Bastante grande para una gran reunión, romántico aunque y agradable para los niños. Impresionante tanto por los lados vegetarianos como carnosos.

Brasserie typique avec nappes et serviettes blanches en tissu. Tout est de qualité: l'accueil, les nappes et la vaisselle. Si vous souhaitez manger au calme c'est ici. Les plats sont bons et variés. On notera aussi l'originalité de l'éclairage.

Tout est parfait : le cadre est très chaleureux avec des tables espacées, le service est efficace, rapide et discret à la fois. Les mets sont délicieux.

We had a lovely time here. Everything was really perfect from start to finish. Especially the super attentive service and then obviously the food. The Bouillabaisse is incredible. The depth of flavor while having a big selection of seafood in it was amazing. But also the tartar and the creme brulee were superb. I'll definitely come back for a nice occasion as this restaurant definitely hits the mark :)

Food was too salty. Not just with me. For the price it shouldn't happen. It's not a chip shop. Tarte flambée as a starter was also mediocre. Service and ambience OK. But doesn't help.

Ansprechendes Ambiente, im französischen Stil, überschaubare Speisekarte, übersichtliche Weinkarte. Wir haben gemäß Reservierung Wunsch einen schönen Ecktisch bekommen. Die Begrüßung im Restaurant war etwas „nebenbei“, freundliche Bedienung. Die Bouillabaisse ist weit weg von einem Original, die Sauce Rouille hat eher nach einer Cocktailsauce geschmeckt und war nach unserem Geschmack zu flüssig. Die Portion ist üppig, und man ist beinahe schon satt, deshalb war die Leber, die okay war aber etwas zu durch, nicht zu schaffen. Der Rioja ist in der Weinkarte Jahrgang 2017 angegeben, gebracht wurde der Jahrgang 2018, mit einem etwas schnippischen Hinweis der Bedienung, dass der Jahrgang auf der Karte unverbindlich wäre… (Der Jahrgang ist jedoch entscheidend.) Ab etwa 21:15 Uhr wurde dann recht laut mit dem putzen der Kaffeemaschine und dem aufräumen an der zentralen Theke begonnen, weil das Restaurant schon ziemlich leer war… Das empfanden wir als eher störend für einen trauten Abend… Wir werden nicht wiederkommen.

Beautiful Art-deco style restaurant with a pleasant elegant atmosphere. We had the blackpudding dish and Steak-Frites, both very good, also the escargot! :)
