Unfortunately, our evening in Scharff's Schlossweinstube was extremely disappointing despite the generally good food.
You can tell from the cuisine, the menu and also the prices that the cooking here is done with a standard that reflects Mr. Scharff's past experience in star restaurants.
Unfortunately, not a single part of the ensemble is even remotely able to meet the expectations that a menu price of €136 for a menu without wine accompaniment creates.
The organization of the service is a disaster. The amuse-bouche arrives long after the first course has already been eaten. The rabbit roulade in the second course is no longer even lukewarm. The order of five different bottles of vintage wine to accompany the respective courses (all from the menu) was initially acknowledged by the service without a word. For the first course we received: Nothing. After repeated inquiries on our part, we finally learned (at this point the second course was already on the table) that the wine could not be found. Something similar happened with the other bottles. Incorrect vintages were passed without any comment. When the expected accompanying bottle for the main course (a red wine, Pinot Noir GG from Franz Keller) had not appeared even after the dishes had been cleared away, a completely unsuitable white wine was succinctly offered as a replacement (again after repeated requests). Throughout the evening we had to ask about any ailments repeatedly, and there was no communication from the team whatsoever.
Questions about the contents of the quite tasty food were only answered with "I don't know", "it's like herbal butter" and similar platitudes. Basic serving rules were not followed.
Across the board, the impression is that hard-working but completely untrained service staff are supposed to shoulder a task that none of them are even remotely up to.
The conclusion is a real shame, as the cuisine and the picturesque setting in Heidelberg Castle basically offer great potential for an excellent culinary evening. I hope that our experience, perhaps due to the short-term absence of trained service staff, was a painful exception and I wish everyone involved that the concept works better on other evenings. The location deserves it.
Been there yesterday. Staff friendly. Ambience clean and ordinary. Food came quickly. Unfortunately, the chicken skewer wasn't completely cooked through, the meat was partly pink until it was almost done.
Toilet on the upper floor is ok so far, wooden railing upstairs is wobbly and loose and be careful, at the top step! Unfortunately there was a slippery doormat lying on the yellow-black marking, which I didn't see... well, that's it.
Not really recommended. We ordered takeaway and when we arrived at the agreed time the pizza wasn't even in the oven. In the end we waited another half hour.
In addition, our order was then given to other customers who came back 10 minutes later and whose pizza was then given to us, so we also got cold pizzas (one was decorated with a hair, the other contained additional random ingredients).
The Bellini experience is definitely an experience that you don't want to have often.
The two of us stumbled in by chance because we wanted to have a glass of wine after shopping. One glass suddenly became a real wine tasting. The owner opened a variety of wines for us, which was a real surprise and was great service. That was very personable and very competent. There are great wines. His female support in service was also in a good mood and noticeably nice.
For dinner we ordered two tarte flambées, which seemed a bit expensive at first (which is not a criterion) but they were some of the best we've ever had, well topped, crispy and simply delicious.
Thanks also for the fig pomace. We are already looking forward to the next time.
Ordered three times, my delivery was forgotten twice, once we had to wait an hour and a half for delivery, then almost dropped it off at the neighbors.
Typical 90s order pizza. Topping OK, base doughy, light and floppy. Tastes better cold than fresh in the morning. I wouldn't order again.
We had a pumpkin soup as a starter, two side salads as a main course, rump steak with herb butter and fries, the shrimp ragout with Mediterranean grilled vegetables and tagliatelle and as dessert the apple strudel and the chocolate soufflé.
The food was really good and the service was friendly and accommodating. The price-performance ratio was quite reasonable.
Really tasty and good food. The staff is also good and one of them always gives me an extra ingredient for free. Nice ambience in green tones and comfortable seats. Also good to take away but you don't need to make a reservation.
Everything was really good it felt like in Italy with real carbonara and fresh tartufo, really rare nowadays!
The service was fast and the waiter really nice.
Good kebab, had Yufka with veal and a portion of fries. The Yufka was good, the fries were ok I would say, the staff were friendly. The ambience needs to be polished up again.
