Went there based on the reviews and were disappointed. Gravy was watery & schnitzel wasn't freshly made. Tasted like an industrial schnitzel with no taste.

First of all, it should be said that the food and drinks were of high quality and therefore there was nothing to complain about. The service was also consistently good. We were back there after a very, very long time and still knew the location as “Jägerstüble” if my memory doesn’t deceive me. The difference was that the authenticity of the Jägerstüble was bought, but not the current restaurant. The attempt here is to sell top-class gastronomy (perhaps star-rated gastronomy), which is not. But definitely upscale. While it is very nice from the outside, the ambience inside is very cool. White tones dominate, which keep the place somewhat sterile, and the furnishings don't look like a top location either. The waiter who served us seemed incredibly fake. Totally over it. The scene could also have been expected in a film with Bud Spencer (along the lines of an uneducated farmer going to a star restaurant). You felt kind of out of place during the dialogue because it was unintentionally funny. But the service was as eager as it was fake, the boy made an effort and you have to recognize that. We each had pumpkin soup, then steak with spaetzle and that was really good! The spaetzle looked a bit overcooked, but was also really tasty. The wine pairing was also great. Definitely a good address in Gengenbach. However, the prices are extremely high, and at first I had the impression that I had bought the pony right away. To be fair, it has to be said that the portions are reasonable, men and women can get something on their fork. But the espresso for over €3 is already a house number. This is also available in other places, but in the spring in Tignale on Lake Garda I only paid between €1.10 and €1.50. In Limone or Riva it is a little more expensive, but I get the dolce vita flair right away. If the store is running, everything is done right. For my part, I would have liked to come more often on vacation, but why should I spend so much money? We spent almost 250 euros with three people without dessert. At the Italian restaurant on the market square it's a third of the price and you sit in the cozy cellar. Gengenbach is a very beautiful place in the Black Forest, but it is not Kitzbühel or a similar important location. A review like this is always difficult, it was a lovely evening and they did everything they could to make us feel comfortable. Nevertheless, I felt that less would be more here. We would like to come back, but not in high frequency.

As a former regular customer, unfortunately very disappointed. We can no longer count how many times we got something wrong or something was missing. Why do you even write anything down when you order? There has never been a discount or anything similar. And now the prices... sorry but that's clearly too much... Great beer on tap 🍻... Often a live performance on Friday evenings... So: go there, go in, enjoy... By the way: Even the toilets were something special: with fairy tales!

The food, v. a. The pizza is excellent and the price-performance ratio is also good here. The ice cream is also good. The ambience is actually nice, but a bit cramped. Most of the waitresses/service staff are good and courteous, but the older lady is unfriendly, very poor service.

Very cozy, feel-good atmosphere with excellent food and very friendly and attentive staff. Our dog was also very welcome. Always my pleasure.
