Mercyscher Hof in Gengenbach

The most beautiful beer garden in Gengenbach! The prices have gone up a bit, but the quality remains outstanding. We love going to the Mercyschen Hof and can highly recommend this place for German cuisine in Gengenbach!

I went there for a drink and the terrace is very pleasant! I'll eat there next time.

We were here for the first time on July 2, 2023, and the food was excellent. It was the Allstadtfest (City Festival) that weekend, and it was busy. We had a short wait because the outdoor area, which is beautiful by the way, was completely occupied. We received very friendly service at our table, drinks arrived quickly, and it was very pleasant to sit there. Due to the terrace being full, there was a short wait, which, unlike our neighboring table, we didn't find a problem. We had a great time and enjoyed ourselves. Our food was excellent, everything was as ordered, and the chef and the entire staff truly deserve great praise. This was our second visit and we were very satisfied with everything. The outdoor area was once again completely full, but nevertheless, our orders arrived after a short wait. There was nothing to complain about. The staff was very friendly, the manager was super nice, the food was excellent, and the outdoor area is simply fantastic; you don't really want to leave... We highly recommend the Mercyscher Hof.

The service was very nice, but that didn't save the abysmal food. My husband had the roast pork, which he normally loves. It was so tough he wanted to pass it on to me. I tried it too, but stopped after the first bite. I had fried (supposedly) zander on pea puree, which couldn't possibly have been prepared by a trained chef. The puree had no flavor at all, the zander also had no seasoning, and it hadn't really seen a pan. The skin wasn't crispy at all, just wobbly. My husband tried it too and immediately pushed the plate away. For the price, we expected something better.

This was our first time at the restaurant. We booked a table online. The food was top quality. Unfortunately, I have to deduct something for the service. The restaurant should pay more attention to this. There are a few points from our visit that the service should simply improve or change. Papers/private documents do not belong on the counter area. It just looks messy. It is also difficult that the manager is basically supposed to run the entire dining area. There were three other employees there, but there is the problem that the man who serves the drinks eventually sat down with his regular customers. Before that, he had been on his cell phone a lot. It just looks strange for a guest. Another server can really only clear away dishes and waits until she is told to do something. This person probably can't do much about it, but the manager has to see that this is of no use. At least not at the front in the service area, where every guest can see it. The other, very young server does her best, but she is simply far too young to be able to handle it. I got the impression today that the restaurant urgently needs to address this issue in terms of service. This isn't meant as a complaint, but simply as an improvement. It would be a shame if the good quality of the food were marred by the poor service.

We were guests at the Mercyscher Hof in Gengenbach, and it was a truly lovely evening. I was particularly impressed by the game pot – wonderfully aromatic, tender meat, and a delicate sauce that perfectly complemented it. To finish, we had a chocolate mousse that was wonderfully airy and yet intensely chocolatey – exactly what you'd want. Added to that, the cozy atmosphere in the restaurant made the visit particularly pleasant. A place I'd happily recommend and will definitely visit again. The sunny and cozy beer garden is particularly noteworthy.

It's been a while since we had lunch at the Mersyschen Hof. It was very disappointing. The high prices don't reflect the much too small portions. A much too small salad plate made entirely of leaf salads!!!! with Polofino. The price is absolutely outrageous. The wait for the food was three-quarters of an hour, even though we were practically alone in the beer garden. A shame.

Bad food and unfriendly staff!! The food was way too salty. There's no separation between business and personal matters, and the restrooms aren't clean. For those prices, I could go to the Golden M! The place doesn't look good either, inside or out!! I wouldn't even give it half a star.

Once, and not again for that price... a roast that was absolutely hard... no crust you could eat with pleasure... I've never experienced anything like that anywhere. Carelessly placed on the plate... not a hint of decoration... a sauce with no flavor... the owner complained about the food, and she wanted to tell her husband, who's the chef, and then I heard nothing more. So I only managed to eat the spaetzle from my meal... expensive food for €18.90 for a rubbish roast pork. But the menu on the table, which was designed as a placemat, was nice... I was worried that the fries would end up on it later 🫣😉. If I wanted something like that, I'd go to a fast food joint. All in all, the ambiance is starting to show its age, or who still puts dried flowers on the tables? And even though there was no one in the restaurant, there was apparently no time to check the restroom to see if there was enough soap or tissues. The answer to that, too, was: I'll pass this on to my employees! We especially loved the way the temporary worker or trainee lounged on the counter and watched us... only a dirty look made her give up... Unbelievable... It's a shame that the restaurant industry is destroying itself!!!

Fantastic trout with chanterelles, a generous size, cooked to perfection. Guaranteed freshness: as we sat down on the terrace, we saw the famous trout arrive, delivered directly from the fish farmer. Located in a quiet neighborhood, with a lovely shaded terrace when the weather is nice; otherwise, the indoor dining room is delightful.

Went there spontaneously for dinner. Friendly staff, a delicious menu with everything from snacks to steak, plus a seasonal, regional special (chanterelle mushrooms). A lovely beer garden in the heart of the city. Everything was excellent, would definitely go back. Try the Green Spritz! Delicious!

We were given a very warm welcome by the boss herself, and we were able to enjoy a delicious, fresh menu and fine, cold drinks in the beer garden - we would be happy to come back again!

We sat on the terrace on Saturday and were literally invaded by lice falling from the plane trees. They were in the drinks, the food, and on our hair and clothes. It's all very unappetizing and disgusting. We can only advise against visiting this restaurant on the terrace. Unfortunately, not a word or apology from the landlady about it. We fled after dinner and had dessert elsewhere. POSTSCRIPT: Even if it's bedbugs instead of lice, the problem is unfortunately there and it's unappetizing. The waitress distributes beer mats to cover glasses, so the problem is known. Perhaps they should put up a screen over the tables during this time, even if it spoils the look of the beer garden, it's still better than bedbugs in the food.

Super cozy restaurant. We have eaten here twice and both times it was delicious. If you want to adjust a dish that is no problem. Service is also super friendly and they do their best to please everyone. Reservations are necessary to avoid disappointment.

Overall average experience for the price in my opinion. Perhaps due to it being a tourist town, but the prices were higher than expected, the portions quite small. The food quality and taste is absolutely fine, nothing wrong there. Be aware that Spätzle when ordered in Schwarzwald Region does not automatically come with cheese. Also the snail I thought was not that good, quite bland.

Great ambiance in the beautiful outdoor area under plane trees. Super delicious food and very attentive service. We felt very comfortable and had a perfect meal. The pepper steak was absolutely fantastic, the best I've had in a long time. Thank you so much for the wonderful evening!

The meat was perfectly cooked, and the sauces were very flavorful. And a lovely wine—what more could you ask for? And the service was friendly. It was truly lovely; we'd love to come back.

Excellent food at correct prices. Very attentive service. We sat in the interior, very traditional and a bit dusty, but when the weather is good it's lovely to sit on the terrace.

Also a very good address in Gengenbach for business meals. The employees and the boss herself always give you a warm and friendly welcome. Any special requests will be taken into account and everything will be made possible. You almost feel like you are at home. Not to forget the beautiful beer garden.

Yesterday we had lunch as a club with over 60 people in this beautiful inn during our excursion. We were able to order the food in advance to ensure everything went smoothly and had the entire beer garden to ourselves. The food was home-style and very tasty and was served quickly for the size of our group. All in all it was a nice lunch.

Highly recommended!!!! We ate with 62 people in the garden restaurant in a great atmosphere. A pre-order worked great. The drinks were at the table quickly and the children got their food quickly. I felt comfortable and the price/performance level was right.

Not a good address for bus groups: Despite pre-ordering all the food, it took over 2 1/2 hours With 62 people, the bus driver was fully authorized, even though I identified myself. Too bad ☹️ 😪

Price-performance is not right for me. Inferior convenience products, mini portions, stale no-name Cola. Unfortunately, when asked if everything was good, I couldn't lie. We were then treated with disparaging looks by the boss?/restaurant management after the waiter had said something to her and had to wait an extra long time to pay. I wouldn't go there again. Does not have to!

Disappointing - never again! We've been to this restaurant several times, but after our last visit we won't be going there again. The food that day was really not good and the taste was a real disappointment. When we expressed our displeasure politely, we would have expected at least a professional response. Unfortunately this was not the case. If you value quality and hospitality, you should avoid this restaurant.

Last day in the black forest but a charming visit to Gegenbach. We were extremely lucky to be there on the date of a folklore event. But all this would be nothing if our steps had not led us to the table at the Mercyscher Hof. A shaded terrace (but with sunny places for those who prefer), discreet and efficient service and a trout meunière my friends... Thank you

We are happy. Had a really nice evening with soooo delicious food. All the food at the table was not only good but great. The quality of the food was high. But what is good food if the service is not good? The young, dynamic woman was super friendly, eloquent and smart. Keep it up....We'll be back...promise. Keep it up...you're doing great

Food good and plentiful. This also justifies the slightly higher price. Beer garden very nice. Service friendly. Just not completely attentive. Empty glasses not seen on table. But it wasn't bad, you just had to get in touch. Conclusion: we'll go again.

It was my first time to eat here and I have to say it was very tasty. Nice quiet beer garden. The food was delicious and sufficient, unfortunately a small drawback for me, the rump steak was not asked whether it was medium, etc. But for me this is something where I think you should ask. I can only recommend the restaurant because it is away from the hustle and bustle and is really wonderful.

After we were regular guests of the previous owner - we wanted to remain loyal to the Mercyschen Hof - but we were repeatedly served very unfriendly and sloppy and we had to wait around an hour for the food each time! The food is still good - but with the prices now very high - you can get more attentive and friendly service in other restaurants in Gengenbach and feel more welcome!

All in all, everything is really good here. The food is great, the staff is very friendly! But what I really didn't like was the fact that I wanted a little more sauce with my spaetzle, which I got, but at an extra charge of €2! Then I was negatively surprised! I haven't paid anywhere yet. And I travel a lot but I didn't think it was that great.

It was recommended to us by the waiter at the Reichsstatd hotel next door. Good option if you don't want pasta or pizza, it is a recommended restaurant. Large terrace. The grilled chicken is very good and the escalope too. We tried the whole breaded eggplant.

Leider wurden wir sehr enttäuscht. Da wir vor einigen Jaheren schon einmal hier waren und damals zufrieden waren, besuchten wir den Gasthof jetzt erneut. Der Biergarten war trotz schönen Wetters nur sehr mäßig besucht. Mein Rumpsteak war zäh und fast durchgebraten, obwohl ich es medium rare bestellt hatte. Ich hatte dies der Bedienung mitgeteilt, die nur antwortete, sie würde das so weiter geben. Eine weitere Reaktion seitens der Küche oder des Gastwirtes kam nicht. Die Bedienung ließ uns daraufhin auf dem "Trockenen" sitzen und war bei der Abrechnung sehr unfreundlich. Der Preis für diese "Schuhsohle" war zudem viel zu hoch. Für ein gutes Stesk gebe ich das grundsätzlich gerne aus. Ich kann diesen Gasthof nicht mehr empfehlen und rate von einem Besuch ab!

Unfortunately the food was completely dry. There was no sauce/ketchup with it. The re-ordered sauce only came after the food was already cold. In addition to the meat, there was a hair from the cook/service person. Food then went in the trash, and it was really too expensive for that.

If you are near Offenburg and pass Gegenbach, it is worth visiting the restaurant, which is really friendly and well attended, which speaks for itself. A visit to the tranquil place is recommended.

The online reservation request worked great and was confirmed very promptly. The food on the additional seasonal Easter menu was very tempting. The saddle of venison with spaetzle was excellent. It's been a long time since I've eaten such tender game meat. So anyone who likes to eat game is well served here. Full recommendation 👍😍

Gut Bürgerliche Küche, netter Service aber recht teuer. Leider nur ein vegetarisches Gericht, dass zwar okay geschmeckt hat aber für den Preis nicht gerade üppig ausfällt. Würde es mehr Auswahl geben, könnte ich mir einen erneuten Besuch aber vorstellen. Für das vegetarische Schnitzel muss ich nicht nochmal kommen.

Mercyscher Hof is a hof that’s a place “hof to trot for”. Wend that way, remark on its steps to its front door and wonder just what awaits you on the other side. You enter a haven traditional, a place full of “gezelligheit”, ambience to go with decor, ambience fulfilling expectation rooted in tradition. Hosts who will welcome you, showing happiness you have come along encouraging you to relax and savour. So how was the meal? Quite perfect. I chose the veggie soup with dough balls, posh folks would call it “consommé”, I call it “left not a drop”. I followed up with cordon bleu that was complimented with a good salad and French fries. Now I have eaten at many Gengenbach eateries and mercyscher hof could easily claim the top spot though it would be a close call with one or two others. Give this place a try. You might want to just walk in but in these times to avoid disappointment it’s good to make a reservation. Oh! Monday is ruehtag so it’s likely closed so staff get a break from all the effort it takes delivering to this very high standard whilst making it look easy and seamless. Compliments to them they made me a very happy customer👍👍👍

Wir waren immer sehr gerne im Mercyschem Hof. Seitdem der neue Pächter übernommen hat, hat die Qualität leider stark nachgelassen. Die Servicekräfte waren nicht wirklich kompetent und kamen mit der Arbeit nicht hinterher. Der Chef stand auf der Treppe, beobachtete das Treiben, ging jedoch gegen 17 Uhr, ohne dem sichtlich überforderten Service auch nur einmal zu helfen und z. B. Das Essen zu den Gästen zu bringen oder mal einen Tisch abzuräumen. Schade!

Vom Bodensee kommend kenne ich die badische Küche und war mir beim Durchlesen der Karte vor dem Lokal nicht sicher, ob ich Lust auf Leberle oder Wurstsalat im Sinne eines Touristenabklatsches habe. Und dann das. Schon der Salat zeigte, daß der Koch was drauf hat. Frisch, knackig, schönes Dressing mit feiner Säure. Tolles Cordon bleu vom Kalb, die Leberle ne Sensation mit wunderbarer, lang einreduzierter Sauce. Vielen Dank. Super Lokal.

Hemos elegido este sitio por las reseñas de google y hemos acertado. La terraza en verano es una maravilla. Nos atendieron dos camareras que hablaban en inglés (cosa que se agradece mucho) y nos trataron muy bien. Las raciones son abundantes. Eso si, cada plato viene con ensalada y patatas fritas que vienen servidos en platos separados y son grandes. Probamos también en pastel de manzana caliente que estaba espectacular. Recomiendo reservar con antelación.

Schöne Gartenwirtschaft, innen bürgerlich eingerichtet. Tolle Lage unter Platanen. Leckeres Essen. Wir hatten hier schon Forelle mit Butterkartoffeln, Schneckensüppchen, Markklösschensuppe, Salat, Schnitzel mit selbstgemachten Pommes, Spätzle mit Pfifferlingen, hier hätte ich mir etwas mehr Würze gewünscht, Cordon Bleu. Leckerer Apfelstrudel. Service war nett und aufmerksam. Preise ok. Kleiner Platz mit einigen Parkplätzen vorhanden. Aber auch von den Parkplätzen am Rand der Innenstadt ist man in 10min. zu Fuß dort.

Sehr gute regionale Küche, freundliche Bedienung und gemütliches Ambiente. Stilvoll eingerichtet, Reservierung empfehlenswert. Die etwas längere Wartezeit wird mit hervorragendem Essen belohnt. Wer es eilig hat, ist hier falsch, im Mercyschen Hof genießt man die Gaumenfreuden. Die Preise sind für die Qualität und Portionsgröße angemessen, zu den Hauptgerichten gibt es noch einen Salat. Ein Besuch, den wir gerne wiederholen werden.

Terraza muy agradable. La camarera muy atenta y eficiente. La comida estaba muy buena. Nos dieron opciones para que comieran los niños, y nos aconsejaron para nuestra comida. Todo buenísimo y las raciones más que correctas.

Sind eher durch Zufall hier gelandet. Von der Straße macht der Aussenbereich schon einen einladenden Eindruck. Oben angekommen wird der erste Eindruck bestätigt. Viel Platz unter großen Platanen. Es gibt fünf Weine im Glas im Angebot. Ich habe zwei Weissweine probiert, die als Ausschankweine und für den angebotenen Preis mehr als ordentlich waren. Auch das weitere Essen war hervorragend, kein Convinience-Food. Würde jederzeit wiederkommen. Diesmal haben wir drin gesessen. Das Essen war wieder sehr gut und der Service zuvorkommend. Die Karte ist nicht riesig und die Dessertauswahl beschränkt sich weitgehend auf Eis.

Vilken fantastisk mat!! Kanske det bästa vi har ätit i Tyskland. En underbar wienerschnitzel med pommes och sallad med en gudomlig dressing. Friterad kyckling att dö för 😍 Snabb service och riktigt riktigt varm mat. Gå hit!

Als je wilt gaan eten, moet je van te voren reserveren om zeker te zijn van een tafel. Bediening doet wel moeite om je een tafel te bezorgen als je niet gereserveerd hebt. Maar het kan dan voorkomen dat je een tafel moet delen met andere mensen.

Todo genial en este lugar, en una plaza tranquila cerca del centro. Llegamos con reserva y nos informaron que cerraba cocina a las 20.30. Pedimos el cordón bleu (24€)y una ensalada de jamón York y queso (11€), además de unas patatas al estilo alemán (6€). Acompañamos con dos cervezas pequeñas y dos jarritas de vino de la casa (0,25L) En total fueron 64€.

Schöner schattiger Biergarten mit Baumbestand. Hier kann man es im Sommer gut aushalten. Bedienung schnell, kurze Wartezeiten. Das Wiener Schnitzel (vom Kalb) war gut. Das Steak war zwar nicht wie gewünscht medium, aber trotzdem zart. Einen Besuch kann man allein schon wegen des Biergartens und der zentralen, aber trotzdem ruhigen Lage in Gengenbach empfehlen.

Le rapport qualité /prix est excellent Nous pouvons que vous recommander ce restaurant. Une belle découverte le vin chaud à base de jus de pomme et de gin est à découvrir 😉😉😉
