Restaurant Namaste in Gengenbach

Prices were higher than elsewhere. The food wasn't necessarily better, but it was okay. The crowning moment, however, was finding a pebble (?!) in my food.

The food tastes really good. We had the food delivered. It arrived two hours late, one dish was missing, and having it delivered later wasn't an option because it would take another two hours. So we called and asked if we could get the remaining money back (by that point, the number had already been dialed five times). We were then told that we had to call a different number to get the money, so we called the number and they didn't answer. So we called the other number again, and now the remaining money is being delivered. Enjoy your meal.

The samosas were extremely delicious, and the other dishes we tried were also delicious. The service could be improved somewhat.

Extremely friendly and attentive service, and the starter and main course were both delicious. Contrary to other reviews, we also found the portions absolutely adequate. 👌

Very great option for people like me that miss Asian foods while traveling in Europe. I tried the chicken curry and it tasted amazing. The service was fine and we really enjoyed our lunch here.

The food was good, the quantity was ridiculous. We came here for dinner. The taste was very good, but the quantity was really very small. They forgot to reorder more rice. When we asked the waiter about the quantity in relation to the price, we were told that Gengenbach is a tourist town and such things are unfortunately normal here. This was our first, but also our last, visit.

We heard about the restaurant through Schlemmerblock and decided to try it out right away. At €19 per dish with little mango, meat, and lots of sauce, I think it's too expensive compared to other Indian restaurants. The rice was just about adequate, but we didn't ask if we could get anything else. Maybe that's possible at no extra charge. Soft drinks are relatively expensive. The food was delicious. The service was friendly. What I didn't like at all: the tablecloth was quite dirty, and the glasses and plates weren't particularly clean.

Average food, relatively small portions for an Indian restaurant in Germany. Very slow, took over an hour to serve dishes. We left hungry for the price we paid. Bulk drink exorbitantly expensive. We would not return.

Very satisfied! Four of us came here for dinner and will definitely be back! A very extensive menu, including vegetarian options. We ordered 'Mango chicken' and 'Mango lamb,' among other things, all equally delicious. The chicken was tender and the sauce flavorful and not too spicy. The desserts were delicious and reasonably priced. The restaurant itself is located at the end of the street, close to the city gates, which may be a bit out of sight, but it does offer a very quiet and pleasant seating area (patio and inside). We will definitely be back!

There were three of us there and we chose the Indian food. We had both lamb and shrimp dishes. The quality and service were excellent, and we would happily go back.

The food was truly delicious and the service was super friendly. We had the Chicken Curry and the Mango Chicken, while the kids had the spaghetti and the tortelloni with vegetables and tomato sauce—it was so deliciously seasoned. The best we ate during our trip to the Black Forest.

We were absolutely blown away by how delicious the food was. It was definitely the best Indian food we've had in years. The paneer tikka was sensational, and the mango lassi was super delicious! Highly recommended!

Ordered twice, delivered incorrectly twice (spicy instead of mild). After a phone call and a promised replacement, I waited 45 minutes, but nothing arrived. On the second call, no one could remember. After a two-hour wait, another spicy dish.

9:40 pm ordered via liefrando waited until 12:30 midnight called 20 times no one answered the phone and children were also waiting for food

June 1, 2025 Salmon fillet in mango curry sauce Lots of sauce. Not much salmon. Therefore, the price-performance ratio was unbalanced. The taste was just okay. For two people, there was a tiny bowl of rice. I left the restaurant feeling hungry. Soft drinks/juice spritzers were absolutely overpriced!! I agree with the previous reviews regarding the service: rather so-so. I wouldn't go again. Note: The side outdoor terrace is currently closed due to construction! However, there are a few outdoor seating areas in front of the restaurant.

Service/friendliness clearly has room for improvement (drinks had to be ordered twice) the food was ok, but not at all spicy as advertised in the menu. The online confirmation for the reservation at 6:30 p.m. came at 8:38 p.m. I don't have to go there again, what a shame!

Super delicious food, great atmosphere

The worst Indian in Ortenau!! Actually zero stars, but unfortunately that's not possible. We had Butter Naan, Mango Chicken (mild), Chicken Korma (slightly spicy) and Mango Lassis delivered to our home. The delivery finally came after an hour delay and two calls. This would still be forgivable if the food were excellent. Worst Indian ever in Ortenau. The chicken was tough, the sauces were way too runny and didn't taste like anything, just sweet, they probably came from a can (Mango Lassis also came in bottles, way too sweet by the way). The slight spiciness I ordered was completely missing. The only good thing was the rice, but you can't go wrong with that.

What a delicious surprise! It was nice to eat something a little different in Gengenbach. And it was quality food!

The shrimp dish 😖😖😖 The Chicken Saffrezi dish came with a cheap thickened tomato sauce 👎👎👎 This kitchen is a scandalous disgrace!!! The price-performance ratio = underground!!! The only positive "the location of the restaurant"!

Our experience at Restaurant Namaste was disappointing. Although the waiter seemed helpful and the food was acceptable, we felt cheated by charging €50 for 5 bottles of water, a totally disproportionate price. This abuse completely ruined the visit, and we will definitely not return to this place.

Super tasty and recommended. We have ordered from Namaste a few times and have always been very satisfied. Today we were pleasantly surprised by the Vegetable Samosas, which is why I decided to give out the well-deserved stars for the palate. Unfortunately we haven't managed to visit the local restaurant yet. This is definitely on our to-do list now. In any case, you have already impressed us with the taste.

Very, very tasty. Mixed salad with a top sauce. The Indian dishes were excellent. Service very nice and quick. Nicely sat under the grapes in the center of Gengenbach. The only drawback: tables could have been a little cleaner...

Very nice service and delicious food. The Garlic Naan Bread is highly recommended for garlic fans! Vegetarian and vegan dishes are shown on the menu. Simple ambience with an Indian touch - not too “overloaded”. The small garden under the vines is idyllic, although a bit noisy due to car traffic.

Had dinner as a couple. The service staff was attentive, the food ordered was tasty, and the portions were large enough. Only the market value (we sat outside) was a bit annoying. But the restaurant is absolutely recommended.

Food so far quite good for an Indian. But with three orders delivered directly every time without taking the arrival time into account, that's quite modest. Ordered at 5 p.m. for 6:30 p.m., food arrived at 5:30 p.m. Family not yet. Tip: only order here if you want to consume it promptly. Look at the damn arrival time or leave it out, thanks.

The food itself was okay, but the rest was totally bad. We couldn't even sit inside because the tables were so low that the table rested on my thighs when I sat. So unfortunately we had to leave. At first the portions were quite manageable, or to put it another way, I had to eat a loaf of bread at home afterwards to even feel full. I couldn't order a second drink because the waitress was either not there or looked away. We had to wait forever to finally be able to pay. The cherry on top was that they deliberately kept the change. If they do this to every guest, they'll end up with a nice sum of black money every day. In short: I can unfortunately only advise against a visit there.

Ate there twice at lunchtime, because I liked it so much the first time, and again the next day. Service very friendly and quick. Food (paneer tikka masala and cheese naan) was very tasty and very attractively prepared. I read reviews here that complained about the size of the dishes. I can not confirm that. I could have skipped the rice and would have been absolutely pleasantly full with the naan and paneer tikka masala. The naan made the whole thing “full until the next day” and was worth the sin because it tasted delicious. The outside area was still too cool to sit, but it is beautifully hidden at the Obertor. Happy to try it out. Toilets were clean. Card payment is possible, but you should have cash with you for tips. The prices are absolutely reasonable (2 people, 2 x dishes, 2 x large drinks, 1 cappuccino for a total of around €55).

Title: Good Indian Restaurant with Room for Improvement I recently had the pleasure of visiting Namaste Indian Restaurant and would like to share my experience. Overall, the food was very good and I really liked the taste. The dishes were well prepared and the flavors were solid, but I wouldn't say they were exceptional. One thing I noticed, however, was the size of the portions. They were a bit small, which meant I wasn't completely full after eating them. I would have liked the portions to have been a little larger to have a full dining experience. The restaurant staff were friendly and accommodating, and the atmosphere was pleasant. The selection of dishes on the menu was varied, making it easy to find something that suited my taste. Overall, my visit to Namaste Restaurant was pleasant, but there was room for improvement. If you are looking for good Indian food it could be a good option. However, you should keep in mind that the portions can be a bit small. Please note that this is my personal opinion and your experience may vary.

Food was good, unfortunately I had a grill plate that only contained 5 small pieces of meat and that for an incredible 24 euros I find it slightly outrageous Unfortunately I no longer come to this location

Location, atmosphere: OK. Service, friendliness: OK. Food, Drinks: Mediocre in taste, less tasty and smaller portions than other Indian restaurants we have seen. Performance/price ratio: Prices are high, especially in relation to the rather small portions. Plus the surprise dessert for €11 that the waiter praised was the cheapest ready-made brownie. We had seen surprises (desserts/cocktails etc.) in many restaurants and pubs, they are often adventurous things, but you are prepared for unusual recipes with such things, maybe you don't like it, you expected it. But you don't get a canned cola or a ready-made brownie as a surprise (drink/dessert) for €11.

I have tried the pakora Platte and it's very tasty. The atmosphere is decent and I like the fireplace.

We ordered food to our home, the delivery was quite quick and the driver was very friendly. The taste of the food was okay, but it was delivered in “cheap” Styrofoam packaging, which didn’t really stand up to the heat of the food. The packaging was scorched in some places, not necessarily appetizing. Next time we will probably eat locally…

I always enjoy going there, romantically located right next to the historic Obertor. Had No. 115 "Mango Chicken" + chai tea and later 1 Indian red wine (actually a sacrilege in Gengenbach, but not bad at all). Parking was a bit difficult right in the historic old town, but the "Schneckenmatt" parking lot was about 7 minutes' walk away. 9 minutes away. (I don't have that problem, it's a 4 minute walk from Oberdorf...) Greetings Andy

Delicious food, great ambience with the fireplace and not too loud music, friendly service - everything is right!

Ordered for delivery twice, large order everything correct and on time. Sometimes we were given a large mango lassi, sometimes we got sauce and rolls. The food is at least 9/10 have had butter chicken and lamb tikka Both are better than expected, naan bread is also very good but it is delivered a bit soggy. My favorite Indian ❤️

Wie kennen indische Restaurants und dies ist das schlechteste, was ich besucht habe. Die Portionen zu klein(6 kleine Stücke Fisch und das andere Gericht: Ente, von dem 1/4 nicht gegessen werden konnte, da es nicht durch war) , die Kokos-Currysauce schmeckte weder nach Kokos, noch nach Curry. Sie war auch nicht indisch gewürzt, sondern mit Speisestärke? stark angedickt. Die Tomatensauce zur Ente schmeckte wie Partysauce aus der Flasche aber nicht nach Tomaten und auch nicht nach indischen Gewürzen. Reis haben wir nachbestellt, um satt zu werden. Dieser wurde extra berechnet. Eine normal große Tasse Tee würde mit Beutel zubereitet... für 3,50€ einfach zu teuer. Der Rotwein, Hausmarke schmeckte gut und wurde in einem schönen Glas serviert. Nach dem Essen fragte der Chef nicht, ob es geschmeckt hat und bot auch keine Nachspeise an. Das DAMEN-WC war unsauber und die WC-Brille auf einer Toilette nicht richtig befestigt, sodass man Angst haben musste sich darauf zu setzen. Für 55€.... Nein, leider nicht wirklich zu empfehlen!

Sehr leckeres Essen und nette Bedingung

Wir haben am Donnerstag vormittag über Lieferando zwei Gerichte bestellt, einmal das Lamm Tikka und zum anderen die Mix-Grill Platte. Das Essen kam pünktlich zur bestätigten Zeit an und hat ca. eine halbe Stunde gedauert. Beschriftet waren die Essensbehälter mit Nummern, was dazu führte, dass wir einen weiteren Blick in die Speisekarte werfen mussten. Das Essen war in Ordnung, nichts spezielles und ein wenig trocken. Mit der beigefügten Soße war das jedoch kein großes Problem. Der Preis von ingesamt 34,80€ scheint in Ordnung zu sein. Im Großen und Ganzen war es eine gute Wahl.

Einfach nur gutes indisches Essen

Eins vorweg, wir waren bisher geschmacklich und preislich sehr zufrieden, daher hatten wir uns überlegt heute uns das Essen liefern zu lassen. Essen bestellt (17:42) , Liefertermin mit 18:45 angegeben, soweit top, da wir auch ca 15 min von Gengenbach entfernt wohnen. Jetzt beginnt aber die bodenlose Frechheit am bezahlenden Kunden. 19:30 angerufen und gefragt, wann das Essen nun kommt, da wurden wir auf 20 Uhr vertröstet, da viel los sei. Damit hätte ich ja zähneknirschend leben können, aber seither ist das Telefon Dauerbesetzt und es gab auch keine telefonische Antwort und Entschuldigung bis jetzt. Nun ist es 21:15 und nix geliefert sowie keine Infos bekommen. Könnte ich 0 Sterne vergeben würde ich es hiermit tun. Wer eine verlässliche Lieferung erwartet wird herbe enttäuscht. Nachtrag: Der Chef meldete sich persönlich bei uns und bot eine Entschädigung an, und hat sich mehrfach entschuldigt. Das Essen wurde uns wegen extremen Zeitverzug nun kostenlos geliefert. Sehr nette Geste 👍 Bei Ankunft ( 22:30) war es sehr heiß und geschmackvoll wie von uns bekannt. Leider kann ich wegen dem Verzug der Lieferung von knapp 4 Std wie mitgeteilt nur auf 3 Sterne erhöhen.

Ich war etwas enttäuscht.Mir fehlte die Schärfe, auch an Gewürzen wurde gespart und die Portionen naja, vielen etwas mager aus.

Immer wieder gerne Ein Geschmackserlebnis besonderer Art und sehr flotte und nette Bedienung!

Hindú bien cocinado, bien mqrinado y bien condimentado. Hicimos el típico samosa-pakora-naam-tandory y todo excelente, el naam de ajo espectacular y las samosas de escandalo.

Ein sehr nettes Restaurant, mit guter Küche und ausgesprochen nettem Service. Mir hat ein wenig die Würze gefehlt, aber ansonsten ist das Essen ausgezeichnet. Auch Vegetarier kommen hier wirklich auf ihre Kosten. Schöner von Reben überrankter Außenbereich direkt am Stadttor. Leider liegt der Außenbereich direkt an der Straße durch die, selbst am Abend noch viel Verkehr fließt. Uns hat es trotzdem gut gefallen und auch geschmeckt. Wir kommen gerne wieder!

Tous les plats que nous avons commandé étaient superbes. Les cheesenaan et les trois plats de poulet -massala, curry et mangue- excellentes. Même les plats non indien sont bonnes - spaghetti et nuggets - Les enfants ont beaucoup aimé aussi. Service accueillant et attentif. On a pu parler en anglais avec le serveur.

Das Essen war leider sehr fade und fettig. Das Cheese Naan Brot war einfach nur ein Fladenbrot mit einer viel zu fetten Füllung Frischkäse. Portionen waren gut.
