Pizzeria La Grappa in Gengenbach

We had a lovely evening at La Grappa. They offer both gluten-free pizza and gluten-free pasta. I ordered the gluten-free spaghetti carbonara and had an eighth of a liter of Primitivo with it. Everything was excellent, and we'll definitely be back.

We were lucky enough to get a table for two on a Saturday evening without a reservation. A small dog was no problem. We ordered Bruschetta Mozzarella. The high quality of the mozzarella was immediately noticeable, followed by the steak pizza and Pizza La Grappa – both the dough and the black olives were sensational! An excellent Valpolicella and a Hefeweizen rounded off our wonderful evening. We'll gladly come back if we're ever in the area again. 🇮🇹🇮🇹🇮🇹

Beautiful restaurant tastefully utilizing an old cellar in the beautiful town of Gengenbach. The service is fast and friendly, and above all, they offer good advice, especially for the many generously sized pizzas. The toppings are good but can be a little limited in quantity. It would be better to offer slightly smaller but more lavishly topped pizzas, except for the onions, which are overused in this restaurant; their place on pizzas should be much more limited. The prices are reasonable and within the usual norms. Nevertheless, I wholeheartedly recommend this beautiful and delicious restaurant.

We arrived in Gengenbach while passing through with our caravan and were looking for a restaurant with an open kitchen late in the evening. Luckily, we found Pizzeria La Grappa. Despite the late hour, we received a very warm welcome, and they even offered a nice table for my wife and our dog – truly attentive and hospitable. The food was excellent – ​​the cordon bleu in particular was absolutely amazing! You can immediately tell that the food here is cooked with passion. If we're ever in the Black Forest again, we'll definitely be happy to come back. A definite recommendation for anyone who appreciates good food and friendly service!

You shouldn't be able to go wrong with pizza. Especially at an Italian restaurant whose menu fills two entire pages with pizza, I would have expected more. Unfortunately, all these pizzas are the same: a simple Margherita. The rest of the toppings were added AFTER it was baked. The result is a mediocre Margherita with raw tomatoes or cold broccoli ON top of the cheese. Overall, it wasn't inedible, but definitely not worth the money. Every delivery service, and even homemade pizza, has higher standards. Even though it wasn't very busy, you constantly had the feeling the waitress was trying to chase you away. Despite the otherwise quiet seating area, it got hectic every time she came running by. Ultimately, a very disappointing and unpleasant experience.

Good food, good service, beautiful setting. Be careful if you order 2 dishes, the dishes are very generous, the pizzas very large. I recommend it. Go there without any problem.

Sorry, but I don't recommend it. The pizza dough is pre-made, or so it seems. The tomato sauce isn't good. We went on a very hot day, and when we asked if they had air conditioning, they told us we'd have to go back to our hotel if we wanted it. Very rude, we ate there because we had no other choice... if only the food would have made up for the service, but it didn't...

The pizza was lukewarm, and the waitress kept shouting across the patio toward the kitchen, so eating in peace was out of the question. The patio, situated in a semi-covered shopping street, wasn't very inviting either!

The food is highly recommended, but the service leaves a lot to be desired. I thought I'd go back after a long time to get something to eat and see if anything has changed. You arrive and the waitress pressures you to order in 2-3 minutes because the kitchen is about to close. If you just want a drink, they tell you we're a restaurant, not a bar. But this is a known issue with the service. The restaurant is doing well despite this unfriendliness; it would be desirable for the restaurant if the lady at least tried to be a bit friendlier.

We arrived an hour before our reservation, which wasn't a problem, and we were immediately assigned a table. The service was also very friendly and prompt. The spaghetti and cannelloni were excellent. Unfortunately, the meat in the vitello tonnato was quite tough and a bit dry, but that didn't detract from the flavor. In my opinion, they could have presented it with a bit more care, as I've had the pleasure of tasting much nicer versions. Top-notch ambiance and service!

Staff is very rude. They blame the customers and threw food at our table only because we waited for 30 minutes for one pizza and asked them how much longer it will take for our food to be ready as the parking ticket was about to run out. The person who seemed to be the manager said to us: what do you expect, it's a nice sunny day and lots of people so you have to wait. I've had much better pizza than here too. I do not recommend this place to anyone.

We were greeted snippily, and despite a phone reservation, the table wasn't ready. No problem at all. Very long waits for the food, with no information. Also no problem. The food itself was okay, but the restaurant was very loud. One pizza wasn't cooked all the way through. When we politely pointed this out when paying, we were yelled at. Absolutely unacceptable and totally rude.

We were there on holiday for a few days, we come from Berlin and we have not eaten such good pizza in all of Berlin as there...we can only recommend it to everyone and the ambience is just as we like it...also the service is all super nice, keep it up

Tasty cuisine with an excellent price-performance ratio.

We found this place late on a summer Friday, around 9:45. They served us (a bit at the last minute), with a very friendly face and very good service. They speak Italian and a bit of Spanish. The food was simply delicious. Pizza Ricardina and Tagliatelle Vongole, both delicious. Good locally brewed beer. You can pay by card (from what we've been told, it's not common in the area).

Ich habe mit meinen Töchtern (8 und 11) dort zu Abend gegessen. Es war ein herzlicher Empfang und wir wurden sehr freundlich und aufmerksam bedient. Die „kleine“ Pizza war überraschend riesig und wirklich sehr empfehlenswert. Alles in allem ein sehr schöner Abend.

HIDDEN GEM! Lovely old underground arched architecture, massive selection of pizzas! The small pizzas are huge so I can see where the confusion is coming from in some reviews of people complaining they got the big one when they ordered the small size 😅. Not even one star. Unfriendly! Nice on the outside, but when they turn around...they roll their eyes. I went to the restroom, and so did an employee. They didn't wash their hands afterward. I wouldn't want to be served there or have food served to them.

Portions were sufficient and tasty. However, the "Germanized" bruschetta was the size of a small pizza. So, if you're expecting a classic bruschetta, this is definitely too much of an appetizer. Otherwise, the pizza selection is very diverse, with something for every taste. The chili oil, however, is supposed to taste like chili and be accordingly hot. Unfortunately, it wasn't even spicy and seemed stale. Service was a bit cool at times. The ambiance was a bit too cluttered for our taste, with all sorts of knick-knacks hanging on the walls. Nevertheless, the atmosphere in the vaulted cellar was pleasant.

The indoor restaurant in the vaulted cellar is also very rustic and cozy. The staff was very friendly. The order was received quickly. The waiting time until the food came was ok - good things take time😁. The food was very good and was delivered almost at the same time for 6 of us. The portions were large. When there was still something left at the end, people asked, without being asked, whether it should be packed up to take away. This was then packed in special packaging, mostly made of paper. Conclusion: It was cozy, tasty and we were all full 🙂. We'd love to come back!

I recently visited this pizzeria and was very impressed by the quality of the food and the atmosphere. Unfortunately, I encountered an unpleasant situation during my visit. An employee who works both in the kitchen and at the counter came directly from the restroom area without washing his hands. This worried me greatly, as cleanliness and hygiene are very important in a restaurant. For this reason, my family and I will definitely not go there again in the future. I hope management takes this situation seriously and takes appropriate measures to prevent such incidents from happening again."

A restaurant with a wide variety of pizzas. I had a veggie one — it was delicious and exactly as expected. It won’t win the prize for pizza of the year, but it was definitely enjoyable. I would recommend the owners remove the table next to the toilet entrance. It’s awkwardly placed, and the constant traffic from people going in and out of the restroom can be disturbing. If you want your guests to feel comfortable, avoid seating them in that area. The waitress was helpful, but there was a misunderstanding — she brought me a large pizza when I had ordered a regular one. As a tourist, I’d suggest clearly confirming your order, as they might default to the large size. Also, it took a bit of time to get the bill.

It is difficult to find the pizzeria, it is located in a cellar, the entrance is in a courtyard, I really liked the setting, the pizzas are enormous, the wine is of good quality, the service is not very friendly, but still very professional, there were 15 of us, everyone paid for their meal, and payment was very quick.

So at 10 p.m. the four of us came, it was so pleasant, fresh salad, food quality perfect, 5 stars is not enough. We'll be back

So the ambience is very nice, but the rooms were pretty quiet, so it was very loud and restless (but it was also on the weekend, so it was pretty full). Having worked in the catering industry for years, I know how strenuous the job can be. Nevertheless, the waiter is always happy to smile and be friendly. You wait for that in vain here. The Bruscetta is far from the Italian version - a pizza base (which was delicious) piled high with garlic, but remaining spices were searched for in vain. We had pasta (Pomodore/ Carbonara/ Salmone) and the schnitzel... all in all, I expected a little more. I could actually have done this at home and not have to go to a restaurant. But value for money was okay…

What an atmospheric pizzeria! Almost always packed - and for good reason. The cuisine is excellent and authentic, the service is attentive and attentive. But be warned: the calzone (which is worth the wait) is a real challenge and almost impossible to conquer. 😅

Absolutely fantastic ambience, rarely seen such a great location! Unfortunately there are unfriendly Italians there who can't even do a carbonara. We felt really uncomfortable and as a German potato I make the food better at home... Carbonara in cream sauce as an Italian, incredibly sorry, it was just bad, both. I would like to offer myself to the chef to show him how to cook Italian. Frustrated, we grabbed a burger and a hot dog from the gourmet basket...thank God, friendly and simply good saved my day. It was really the last time I went to eat something with the sparrows.....I ask myself every time where the arrogance comes from. Any idiot can do that. Hopefully it changes hands then I'll be happy to come back.

We arrived at 2:10 and they didn't give us anything to eat even though there was a sign that they closed at 2:30.

The pizza makes a good impression at first, but the price is really not justified. We ordered by phone. When we arrived and wanted to walk down to the dining room, we were hissed at in a very unfriendly manner by a service person. We should stand at the top of the stairs and wait as she would check on our food. She arrived with 3 pizza boxes (we had ordered 2 pizzas and 1 bruscetta) I mistakenly got confused and informed her that we had only ordered 2 pizzas and the appetizer. She replied again very annoyed. So we paid (but didn't receive a receipt). When my partner pointed out the price of €44 I was shocked! Online on the map the prices were significantly lower. So we deliver back to inform the service force. She was cashing out a table at the moment, so we wanted to wait until she was finished. She turned around and asked again very rudely what we wanted. I told her we would wait until she was finished at the table. But she says we should say what we want. I explained my problem to her and she said “someone uploaded the card online years ago and the prices aren’t right”. Since we didn't want to bother the table where she was standing any longer, we left. In the end we also received and paid for 2 large pizzas, even though we had ordered a small and a large one. They weren't cut either, even though I asked specifically about them. I also work in the catering industry and can't understand this unfriendly behavior, even on a stressful day. So unfortunately they lost us as customers.

It's very comfortable to sit there and the food is very good. Pizza has a very thin dough with a crispy edge and very fresh ingredients and tastes very good. Waiter was very friendly and funny too. I can only recommend. But you should have reserved in advance, otherwise it is not guaranteed that you will get a place.

Best Italian restaurant in the region!!! Pizza top and all other dishes always fresh and tasty. Nando is the boss and the good soul in the restaurant. Lunch for 9€ salad and pizza or pasta is amazing. I like to go there often 😄
