Cuore di Puglia in Gengenbach

The decor is very simple. Reservations are highly recommended, as there are only five tables. The menu offers a great selection, including some dishes you might not have tried before, which are definitely worth a visit. There were four of us, and all the dishes were delicious 😋. The server was a little grumpy when we asked for the dessert menu and she had to put her phone down to show us. Otherwise, it was a very pleasant evening overall.

A nice little restaurant that also offers gluten-free pizza. The pizza tasted very good, but could have used a little more time in the oven.

We went for dinner, and they had gluten-free pizza, which was delicious. The drinks are very expensive, though, at €5 for a 0.5L bottle of water... The atmosphere is very pleasant, and it's easy to have a good conversation.

We were a couple sat outside on a Wednesday evening in early September and we had a very tasty dinner and a great bottle of Primitivo, with excellent friendly service. The Orecchiette pasta was amazing! we made our table reservation earlier that same day.

Bad experience and rude waitress. We arrived at 13:30 to have lunch with a 5 years old kid. Only 3 tables with people outside and closing at 14:30. We were not allowed to sit as the waitress said they were already closed. When we were leaving, she started to note a table’s order. If possible, avoid this restaurant and don’t make plans to attend as they might not serve you.

We arrived here by coincidence and it was a splendid surprise. We felt like in Italy, actually we felt in Puglia. The raw materials are top and it is definitely worth a visit to taste a bit of Italy on the middle of Black Forest

Exquisite pizzas and surroundings

Unfortunately, the restaurant left a rather mixed impression overall. The food was generally decent, but lacking any particular refinement or flavor experience—just "okay," nothing more. The service, unfortunately, seemed rather clumsy and unattentive. The side salad, which was served without any sauce at all, was particularly disappointing—dry and unloving. At the end, there was more trouble: the card machine didn't work, and when we tried to pay in Swiss francs, it was simply declined. Especially in a region close to the border, I would have expected a bit more customer service.

We had a lovely lunch. It was quiet, so we were helped quickly. There was a card malfunction, so we walked to the ATM a bit further down the road. No problem, it happens. I had the brushetta burrata and my husband had a pizza with mortadella, pistachio, and burrata. We both enjoyed our meals, and the service was excellent. We also had water and a Lillet lime. A total of €53.

Pure insolence. We had a reservation and wanted to sit together as a group. A waiter was polite and said it would be no problem to put the tables together. Less than five minutes later, a waitress stormed out as if she were in the wrong movie – loud, aggressive, disrespectful. Without any explanation, she snapped at us, even insulted us in Italian, and caused a fuss that was completely excessive. This kind of behavior is an absolute no-no in the hospitality industry. Anyone who treats their guests like this should change careers. We left immediately. We'll never see this place again.

Unverschämtheit pur. Wir hatten reserviert und wollten als Gruppe zusammensitzen. Ein Kellner war höflich und meinte, es sei kein Problem, die Tische zusammenzustellen. Keine fünf Minuten später stürmt eine Kellnerin raus, als wäre sie im falschen Film – laut, aggressiv, respektlos. Ohne jegliche Erklärung fuhr sie uns an, beleidigte uns sogar auf Italienisch und machte einen Aufstand, der vollkommen überzogen war. So ein Verhalten ist ein absolutes No-Go im Gastgewerbe. Wer seine Gäste so behandelt, sollte den Beruf wechseln. Wir sind sofort gegangen. Dieses Lokal sieht uns nie wieder.

We made a reservation for 9 people. We were told they would set up one table for 4 and one for 5. When we arrived in the evening I asked a member of staff if it would be possible to put the tables together. The member of staff was friendly and said it would be no problem. After we had put the two tables together another member of staff came out and shouted at us loudly and didn't really let us explain that her colleague had given permission for it. As we left she insulted us in Italian. So we left. It's a shame, the food there is actually really good but no guest should put up with being treated like that.

Ah, my heart soars here. Delicious food, attractively presented, and served with joy. A fantastic selection on the menu. A special treat. I'd happily return again.

If you want to feel like you're in Italy for an evening in the Black Forest (or more precisely, like you're in Apulia), the "Cuore di Puglia" is the perfect place. The unusual pizzas are exceptionally delicious, and the orecchiette cisternino is a dream. The people who work there are attentive and very friendly. We always enjoy visiting there because we lack nothing.

The best gluten free pizza I've ever eaten. It is baked in a separate oven. The staff is extremely friendly and attentive. They are very knowledgeable about gluten-free. Anyone with celiac disease can eat here with a clear conscience. We'll be back.

The food was good but unfortunately overpriced. For the price I would have expected more. The service was fine. The atmosphere in Gengenbach is very nice. Unfortunately we won't be coming back because we can eat much better for the price.

We came here for dinner with a stroller. It's quite small, but it has everything a favorite Italian restaurant should have! The dishes were very authentic. Not the run-of-the-mill stuff you've seen a thousand times at Italian restaurants. The orrechiette is even homemade. The service was super friendly! If we lived in the area, we would definitely be a weekly visitor! Highly recommended!

We reserved a table here online. At first the restaurant seems small and inconspicuous, but the food is world class and the staff is very friendly and grateful for any praise. We were even allowed to take our dog with us. The restaurant is rather small, but that means you won't be disturbed. They also play very good Italian music (not the usual). We would eat here again. Ps: be sure to order the tiramisu (it's homemade)

Unfortunately I'm only staying at the hotel near here for a few days and luckily I discovered this delicious Italian restaurant. I've been to Rome, Siena, Bologna... But this is one of the best I've had so far. Yesterday I had an excellent pasta and today a pizza to take away. You even put greaseproof paper on top of the pizza so that it doesn't stick to the lid. I've actually never seen that before and it shows how much attention to detail they have here. You don't just taste it. Unfortunately there are relatively few seats, but absolutely authentic and excellent. Keep it up!

Simply wonderful, inside the old town of Gengenbach you will find one of the best Italians I have tried outside of Italy to date! The waitress was very, very nice, and we entered a little late when it was almost time to close. The food is all very good, you can tell that it is Italians who make it, and it is worth noting that the place is very nice, cozy and clean. It is important to be aware that restaurants close early, especially at noon (2:00 p.m.), so go there early and in time to enjoy the place and the food in peace. It goes without saying that the dishes are very complete, you won't be left hungry at all and the price is more than economical for the food they serve, that's true, you pay for the drinks, too. If we ever go back to Selva Nehra we will try to do it again!

Wir sind hier öfter zum Essen oder holen auch mal eine Pizza oder ein Nudelgericht. Es gibt eine reichhaltige Karte mit ausgefallenen und typischen italienischen Spezialitäten, die Pizzen sind hier in Gengenbach schon legendär. Alles was wir bislang gegessen haben, war von bester Qualität und liebevoller Zubereitung. Wir haben stets eine freundliche und zuvorkommende Bedienung erlebt. Das Lokal ist innen halt klein und bietet nur wenige Tische, im Sommer kann man gut draußen essen. Wir freuen uns sehr, dass es dieses Lokal in Gengenbach gibt.

Very rare to find an authentic Italian restaurant that specializes in Puglia specialties. This has been achieved brilliantly here in Gengenbach, probably one of the most beautiful cities in the Black Forest. The very extensive menu of orechiette dishes or the selection of different bruschetta variations and of course the ciccio dishes as an alternative to classic pizza are very remarkable. Apart from that, it speaks (positive) volumes when the spaghetti carbonara is traditionally prepared with eggs and guanciale and not with cream and ham. The aperitif and wine selection is also very good. An excellent taste experience in a very nice summer ambience outdoors. We'll definitely be back.

We were there as a family with 2 adults and 2 children (ages 2 and 8). There were two other tables occupied next to us in the large outdoor area. All other tables were empty and were given dummy reservations. Here it is probably not possible to freely choose a seat without an initial check of people. We ordered 3 Cola Zero, 1 Pizza Salami and 1 Spaghetti Carbonara. We were made to understand that this would not be enough for a valid order for 4 people. We then left the restaurant.

Very bad service. It took us a long time to serve us. We saw how they served tables that arrived later, exactly three tables! Still we were patient. But what finally bothered us was that it started to rain and they didn't want to relocate us under an awning, making us wait for some people who arrived later than us to be placed there. They told us that if we wanted we could go inside the premises, where there was no one. They had the dining room messy and terribly hot! They only served on the terrace. We do not know the reason nor will we ever know, but we do notice a somewhat classist and arrogant behavior. The pizzas were very good, although it was reason enough to leave the food on the table and leave without paying for the bad treatment, we took them and ate them at home. By giving two stars I have been generous.

onvriendelijk personeel, ons eten kwam uit de frigo en zo meteen in de microgolfoven gezet om op te warmen, zoals ik dat zelf doe thuis met een bord pasta van de dag ervoor. Het eten stond ook binnen 2 minuten nadat we besteld hadden op tafe. Het water was een fles gevuld van de kraan, lauw.

My parents decided to have dinner here and they didn’t regret it. On our way to our holiday location in Italy we stayed in Germany halfway our trip and this restaurant is a good place to get into the Italian mood. Ran by pugliese people who know how to make a proper italian dish. On the menu lots of (common and special) pizza and course pasta. For me they prepared a spaghetti carbonara. Loved it. My parents both had a pizza. Tasted of it too. Great! You can chose between classic dough of whole grain. The ‘dolce’ meet the italian standards. Outstanding for these price. Same counts for the wine. Some nice pugliese wines on the menu. My father liked it served a bit more chilled but he’s a perfectionist. Best part of the restaurant for me was the staff. What a team! I loved them all and I threw them many hand kisses. They played with me and gave me so much attention. They are in my memory for the rest of the journey! Lots of Love, Stef, 16 months old.

Normalerweise war das Essen in diesem Restaurant zwar teuer aber gut. Jetzt haben wir zum dritten Mal innerhalb der letzten 6 Monate eine Qualitätsminderung bei gleichem Preis festgestellt. Besonders bei den Spaghetti Vongole. Es gibt zwar sehr viele Meeresfrüchte, jedoch sind sie unzureichend gewürzt und meiner Meinung nach von billiger Qualität. => schade:(

Vorerst: das Essen war bekanntermaßen gut. - Ich hatte für mich und meine Freundin in dem Lokal für den 9.Mai einen Tisch bestellt. Allerdings wurden wir bei Eintreffen draußen platziert, im Lokal Platz zu nehmen wurde uns verwehrt, und im Laufe des Abends war uns kalt und wir froren erbärmlich. Es gab nicht zu wenig Bedienungspersonal. Es fanden keine Umbaumaßnahmen statt. Die Tische im Inneren standen leer und die Bedienunng lief, um zu servieren, daran vorbei. Man wollte einfach nicht. Das war nicht nur schlechter Stil und Service, das war unterirdisch.

Very nice and friendly staff. Few seats inside. Nice to sit outside in front of the tower, pleasant atmosphere. We chose dark crust pizzas with clam flour. It took a little getting used to, it was good, but next time I would choose the lighter dough for comparison. Gluten-free dough is also available for an additional charge. I thought wine was overpriced. A piece of Bari, Apulia in Gengenbach. Toilets were clean. Recommendation!

Unfortunately the pizza base wasn't to our liking as it was sweet. We didn't like the tiramisu either. The base was warm, like it came from the microwave, but there was no sweetness. The service was very attentive and nice.

Superb terrace, very welcoming and professional staff. A small downside for the shrimp spaghetti. Al dente spaghetti. Too bad the cooking water from the frozen shrimp is used as a sauce.

Underground service!!! What kind of world does this restaurant live in? All tables were marked as reserved, even though they were not actually reserved. We finally got a seat. Things then started when the order was placed. We ordered 2 Prosecco with strawberries, 1 large mineral water and 1 bruschetta (total around 30Eur). We wanted to eat this as a couple because we weren't really hungry. Now the service person told us that they don't do that and it's not possible to order just 1 dish. I've never experienced anything like this anywhere. The best thing was the comment that we should go to another restaurant that does that. We did it and got it that way. The restaurant wants to play in a league it will never reach.

The food was exceptionally good. The choice between three dough variants for the pizzas is exceptional. Some of the toppings are not those of a standard Italian restaurant and are surprisingly tasty. We were transported to a new culinary world. The ambience may not be for everyone, but that is compensated for by the food and the very friendly service. We will definitely come back, although we have to accept a longer journey to do so.

Wir hatten online auf der Webseite für drei Personen reserviert, was reibungslos funktionierte und uns einen perfekten Tisch sicherte. Die Speisekarte bietet eine beeindruckende Auswahl an köstlichen Gerichten, und die Qualität der Zutaten und die Zubereitung waren einfach erstklassig. Besonders empfehlenswert sind die hausgemachten Pizzen (sehr kreative Variationen). Nach diesem großartigen Erlebnis werden wir definitiv jederzeit wieder ins Core zurückkehren. Ein herzlicher Dank an das gesamte Team und den Espresso:)

Freundliches Personal, gemütliches kleines Lokal in der schönen Altstadt von Gengenbach. Das Essen ist sensationell und jedes Gericht war eine absolute Punktlandung. Mein einziger kleiner Kritikpunkt: Das Tiramisu war für meinen Geschmack ein bisschen zu modern interpretiert, der flüssige Espresso zu present. Ansonsten: Die Zutaten sind alle frisch und qualitativ auf höchstem Niveau. Alles in allem ein überragendes Restaurant. Wir kommen auf jeden Fall wieder.

Piacevole scoperta! Il prezzo forse un pelo sopra la media ma la qualità decisamente importante. Preso delle orecchiette con crema di pistacchi e una pizza, concluso con un dolce. Consigliati bene dal personale, serviti in fretta e chiacchierato piacevolmente. Posto consigliato.
