Everything is fresh, high quality and homemade. In addition, the operators are very polite and accommodating.
One of the best kebabs in all of Mannheim!!
Unfortunately, I relied on the many positive reviews and headed to the restaurant with my daughter at lunchtime.
A grumpy and taciturn, almost annoyed waitress couldn't wait for us to FINALLY decide. When the food finally arrived, I was actually a bit shocked. It seemed like everyone was just opening packages and jars and placing them on our plates. Pasta Bolognese – straight from the jar from the Rewe supermarket next door!
My salad – a ready-made mix with cucumber and tomato on top. Herb curd cheese was also bought and not freshly prepared (which is easy). Phew – only the fish was fried okay!
I was, unfortunately, absolutely disappointed! Only the chic decor made it a little better.
We paid €42.
We ate there!
Service was very friendly!
The croques were fantastic, generously topped and moist. The multigrain bread was warm but not too hot, deliciously crispy but not hard.
It's well worth the longer journey.
Had a Pizza Diavola for €13.90.
The pizza lacked salt in my opinion.
The service was friendly and polite. He did, however, praise his pizza to the skies 😅
But as a pizza expert, I definitely know better.
Truly the best chicken shawarma and falafel plates. Juicy, fresh, and filling. We'll definitely be back! The service was great. The staff are incredibly friendly. 👍🏽 A+ with ⭐️
Great restaurant. I felt like I was on vacation in Greece in this taverna. Very good and friendly service, and the food is fantastic! Highly recommended!
I really enjoy visiting this restaurant. The food is delicious, the value is excellent, and the staff is very friendly. I particularly noticed that the portions are often a bit more generous at the beginning of the week. Today, there was also a small nitrogen show for everyone who ordered sushi – a nice touch that was usually reserved only for larger orders or sushi menus.
One minor criticism is the cocktails: You can barely taste the alcohol, and they consist mostly of ice cubes. Our Aperol also came with an orange slice, which looked more like an old decorative fruit than fresh fruit. The cleanliness of the restrooms could also be improved, and the menus are now quite worn.
Another aspect is the noise level, especially in the vaulted cellar. While the room with the cherry blossom tree in the middle is atmospherically very beautiful, once it's full, it's extremely loud. It's almost impossible to have a conversation there – even when the room is only half full and music is playing. In my opinion, this area is therefore not suitable for a romantic dinner or a first date.
Overall: a restaurant with delicious food and friendly service, but significant room for improvement in terms of cocktails, cleanliness, and acoustics. Not five stars for me, but still a place I enjoy visiting.
In 2025, we celebrated several events with around 45 people at Hummels Viehweid Straußi – simply impressive! Despite the large group, all the à la carte dishes arrived at the table at the same time, hot and perfectly prepared. The food was fantastic, and the service was super friendly and attentive. The location amidst the vineyards is stunning – ideal for strolling and enjoying the scenery. We spent many wonderful hours there. The only minor drawback: no beer, but excellent wines from their own production. A true Straußi! Absolutely recommended – we'll definitely be back!
