Delicious food and friendly service. Nice restaurant and inn in Rothenburg. Only, unfortunately, got sick that night and sick the next day. Unfortunately ate something wrong. The chicken???

Food was really tasty. However, what spoiled our evening: it was unhygienic. The tablecloth was stained, crumbs were still on the table. When the food was served, the waiter's hands were touched several times. Too bad!

I've tried many Indian curries in the past, but the curry here was really delicious. We ordered chicken butter curry, chicken spinach curry, and mangola seed, and it was a choice we did not regret.

Very tasty and authentic food. The Lassi is particularly recommended for drinking. The atmosphere is a bit rustic and the waiters primarily speak English, but that doesn't bother me in the least. The restaurant deserves 6/5 stars for the food alone.

Really great food and lovely service and staff

Wooow, just super delicious (Alu Gobhi/Biryani). The spices were so well balanced. The spiciness is also perfect for my sensitive palate. The portion was just right. I'm totally thrilled and can definitely recommend it!!!

5.5/10 We visited Taj Mahal rothenburg during our day trip from Munich. This is the only Indian restaurant which is available in the old town and hospitality by the gentlemen are good. I would like to provide a mixed review here. To start with - Food We had vegetarian items from the menu. The Bombay aloo, bhindi masala, butter naan, Masala parata. The Bombay aloo was average. It was bit oily. After eating we found the color of the food struck to our hand. Either it is turmeric or food color, requesting to reduce it. In case of food color please avoid it. The bhindi masala was good in taste with naan and parata. The bread were good, again bit oily. Can reduce it to an extent. Each gravy is accompanied with sumptuous amount of rice. Price and Location On price point of view it is little bit expensive- as it is in Tourist location. Does not match Price Performance Ratio. The location is walkable by foot and it is close to the church. Feedback- Thanks Gentleman provided us plain curd on request, appreciate the warmth.Our overall experience was average.

Went in just for tea and samosas after dining elsewhere. The manager told us our order was too small for table service and that we could only take it away. There was no sign or mention of a minimum order policy. We left without ordering. If there's a minimum spend required for sitting, it should be clearly displayed to avoid discomfort or confusion.

Food was awesome. Perfect place for Family dine. Highly recommend Duck Tajmahal special, Chilli chicken and vegetable Thali.

I have little experience with Indian food. Unfortunately, the staff spoke very poor German, so advice or recommendations were not possible and I had to place my order at random. The food was pretty good, but I still thought it was a shame.

The Taj Mahal provides a refreshing change from all the German and Italian food in Rothenburg. But it's not just an alternative; it would be an outstanding Indian restaurant wherever located. There are many traditional dishes, prepared to perfection, but there are also some successful subtle twists on old favorites. The saag was fresh; the lamb tender. The korma sauce for the chicken was sumptuous, and made a nice addition to the basmati rice. The mangoes for the lassis are straight from India, giving them more power. There also are several bread choices not commonly seen. For instance, we tried the delicious chicken peshwari. Also delightfully unusual was the mulligatawny soup, which had a slightly spicy kick. The service was helpful, timely, and most friendly. I will note for you that it's cash only, so come prepared. But it was an outstanding experience that I would gladly repeat.

Good service and great place to eat. They adjust to your spice level if you request. They also have a hotel so you can request for a room if you change your plans from one day to two days. I enjoyed the food.

You come to this restaurant, which is the only Indian restaurant in town, with not such high expectations. But you are blown away with hospitality & food. This wonderful restaurant is one of the most authentic Indian restaurants in Europe .. delicious food

Food was below average. Extremely expensive for the portion they serve. They charge €7.60 for 0.4 L of tap water. When we tried expeessing our concern and give feedback the owner lf the restaurant came out and made us pay and leave quickly. He did not even have patience to listen to customer review and concerns. I wonder how this place has 5 star review. Can’t believe it. This place definitely does not deserve 5 star. There are lot pf other better restaurants with better food quality and customer service/ hospitality. Would not recommend this restaurant to anyone.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Taj Mahal, and I must say, it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. From the warm ambiance to the impeccable service. The food was absolutely outstanding and it was cooked to perfection—flavorful & fresh.. The Indian balance of flavors was spot on, and you could tell that high-quality ingredients were used. The staff was attentive and friendly Whether you’re looking for a cozy dinner spot, a special celebration, or just a fantastic meal, this place is a must-visit. I will definitely be returning soon!

Great food, good garlic naan, chicken with cashew cream and spicy chicken super good, great service and very kind staff. I don't give 5 stars because two bottles of 0.7 water cost us 15€ which is quite expensive.

Indians have a hard time with me because I'm spoiled in this regard, but clearly, this Indian is one of the better ones. All dishes were tasty and the service was appealing.

- the vegan labels were not accurate (e. g. „chicken“ was labeled as vegan) - my food didn‘t taste good in my opinion but that might be the choice - aftee we had our food we were informed that payment by card was not possible

Food was tasty but the place is extremely expensive! I wouldn’t complain if the portion size was reasonable. The portions are extremely small. Even after spending 25 euros per person you won’t feel satiated. Roti is close to 5 euros and it’s extremely small sized. You need to eat two and some rice to feel satiated. Petite sized jamoon for 7 euros. Service and cleanliness were good.

Very tasty and authentic Indian food. We ordered Paneer Lababdar, Bombay Aloo Masala, Masala Parantha, and salted/mango lassi. Everything was super delicious. I recommend this place if you are looking for an Indian cuisine in Rothenburg area.

The food is exceptionally good. We have been to many Indian restaurants but the taste here is absolutely top! The staff was also very accommodating without being intrusive. All in all just TOP! We'll be back.

The location is good, in the medieval town of Rothenburg o.d.T. The food for us was a mixed bag - the Pakoras and samosas were very obviously bought frozen but tasty. The Masala chai was a disappointment, too milky and over-sugared. The Chicken Tikka Masala was 6 out of 10 - highly coloured, with neatly-chunked chicken pieces which are usually a sign of a very average establishment. The Naans and rice were good. The chutneys were served in miniscule amounts, the size of tea spoon bowls. Service took a while, though they were friendly enough. We won't be back in a hurry.

We dined here on a Friday evening. The restaurant space is small and quaint. The service was excellent, we felt very comfortable. The food was incredibly delicious! We will definitely come here more often. There is a large selection of dishes so there is something for everyone. Due to the small space, we would recommend making a reservation in advance.

Very good Indian restaurant at very reasonable prices. We had thalis for two and it was interesting to be able to try different dishes. The meal was hearty, and the drinks (mango lassi and tea) were very good. If you're passing through Rothenburg and need a change from the local cuisine, I can only recommend this restaurant.

Food is ok ok , same generalised curries for non spicy taste buds . The only Indian restaurant in Rothenburg old town atleast . The person in charge is in intent just to make money but not to provide with best of service and best food , food high is the problem .

First of all the service were not at all good. The waiter initially told to wait 30 mins and eventually I waited 1 hour to get the food. I don't know why everyone is praising about the food.. Very bad experience. Biased against Indians. Kept us waiting for more than 1 hours while serving food to other guests who came after us. Overall very bad experience. Quantity is less as compared to other restaurants in the region. Made worst Dal Makhani.They just poured lot of sugar to make shahi paneer sweet. Paneer lababdar was also sweet. Tomoato soup was nothing but the pasta sauce. Only onion bhaji was good. Samosas were also fine but too small as compared to other restaurants. Toilets were not maintained. No toilet papers, No soap.

The food served here is absolutely fantastic - some of the best Indian food I’ve eaten in a long time. Highly recommend the butter paneer - more savory and complete of a flavor than other butter paneers I’ve had - and the pineapple coconut lassi. Also, the garlic soup is top notch! The food was very tasty especially the Kashmiri Mutton. We also ordered a vegetarian Thali which came with Dal Makhani, Chana and Alloo Palak. Alloo Palak was really creamy and delicious. The service was also really nice.

We visited the restaurant on a cold November evening around 9:30 PM. Initially hesitant to order the Thali, we were pleasantly surprised to discover some of the best Indian cuisine we’ve had in Germany in a long time. Every side dish was bursting with flavor, and the Garlic Naan stole the show—perfectly thin and delightfully crispy. The restaurant owner Mr. Gopichand greeted us with a big smile which never faded until we left.

Such amazing food that too at 10.30pm ! Never expected this in Germany !! We are touring from US and enjoyed the thaali that had a delicious spread of Channa Masala , Bhendi masala , Baingan Bharta.. amazing truly supervlb

Excellent food. We had the paneer karahi and garlic naan and got to say it's legit food. Definitely a must try if you are craving Indian food on your travels
