The food was very tasty especially the Kashmiri Mutton. We also ordered a vegetarian Thali which came with Dal Makhani, Chana and Alloo Palak. Alloo Palak was really creamy and delicious. The service was also really nice.

This is the second time we've come here and every time it's been a perfect visit. The food was delicious, the staff attentive and friendly. The atmosphere in the location is rustic and very cozy. We'll come back when we're in Rothenburg.

The food is very tasty. We had a plate for 2 people. 6 small dishes, a bit of everything, 1 dip and salad. Highly recommended if you don't just want to try one dish. Staff very nice and very attentive. We'll be back. Recommendation 👍🏻

We visited the restaurant on a cold November evening around 9:30 PM. Initially hesitant to order the Thali, we were pleasantly surprised to discover some of the best Indian cuisine we’ve had in Germany in a long time. Every side dish was bursting with flavor, and the Garlic Naan stole the show—perfectly thin and delightfully crispy. The restaurant owner Mr. Gopichand greeted us with a big smile which never faded until we left.

Such amazing food that too at 10.30pm ! Never expected this in Germany !! We are touring from US and enjoyed the thaali that had a delicious spread of Channa Masala , Bhendi masala , Baingan Bharta.. amazing truly supervlb

Six of us were there for the first time for my birthday on November 23rd, 2024. I can only report positively. The staff is very attentive and friendly and above all the food is very, very tasty. The six of us also had a nice selection. Everyone was able to try everything at the table and everyone was full. The price is reasonable. That wasn't the last time we ate here. Highly recommended.

The restaurant is easy to find using Google Maps. The rooms are rather small and nice. The food is typically Indian and comes to the table quite quickly. What I didn't like is: The rice 🍚 was really too normal. I would have expected something special in terms of color, scent or taste. I don't remember any vegetables. Meat was 👍🏼 okay, but not a premium experience. Small children's needs are not taken into account. No toys or anything to paint with. The high chair doesn't have a part for between the legs - we were afraid the child would slip down. Toilet facilities very outdated. There is no changing station or quiet corner to change diapers. I have no idea how long the restaurant plans to continue like this. Price performance wasn't right here.

One of the softest butter naan I ever had in any Indian restaurant outside of India ! Curry and daal were also nice. Chef had also prepared food outside of the menu and adjusted as per our needs.

Had a great time visiting Taj Mahal Restaurant. Ordered Samosa, Chicken Tikka masala and Naan/Roti everything was delicious. It was served Hot and the service was top-notch.

Atmosphere is smelly, not properly maintained place. Normal water costs 7.90 Euro , which is really unbelievable. Sorry to say but …Service is worst I have seen ever in my life.

We were in Rothenburg for a team outing and went to Taj Mahal for a lunch. We ordered a variety of dishes and everyone was happy at the end. The waiting staff was also very courteous and were very open to customise our order to suit our individual preferences.

Had a wonderful lunch at this authentic Indian restaurant. Had duck vindaloo and chicken tikka masala. Both were superb. The lunch came with soup (also very good) and good rice. The wait staff was efficient and friendly. Wish this restaurant was located near were we live instead of Rothenburg so that we could be frequent patrons.

Wow! the BEST Indian food I’ve ever eaten 🤩 Truly. We were blown away. We got two of the vegetarian dishes and could not stop talking about how delicious they were 🤤 I got #111 and it was phenomenal!!

I recently ordered the Chicken Tikka Masala and Lamb Vindaloo, and both dishes were delicious! The Chicken Tikka Masala had a rich, creamy sauce with tender pieces of chicken, making it a comforting choice. However, the star of the meal was definitely the Lamb Vindaloo. The lamb was incredibly tender, and the fiery, tangy sauce had the perfect balance of heat and flavor. If you enjoy a bit of spice, I highly recommend the Lamb Vindaloo—it's a must-try!

The place, ambience, service was really great and the food is made with love. For indians like me the place ihome and for other people its authentic indian food.

Food was excellent and service good until they brought the check and insisted we had more beverages than we actually had. It took some pushing back to not allow them to overcharge us. Most unfortunate end of meal.

Really great Indian restaurant! Very large selection of typical food, as we know it from Indian restaurants in Germany, from meat to vegetarian to vegan and from mild to very spicy (for the European palate). The selection of starters and desserts and of course lassi and other drinks was also very good. In summer you can also sit comfortably outside. We particularly liked the fact that there were also combination dishes of three to six dishes for two people, so that you could try as many things as possible (including vegetarian and vegan versions with meat). Everything was delicious and the service was great.

Food served definitely has an authentic Indian taste.Would recommend if you would like to get a flavour of Indian spices and not because it is the only Indian restaurant available in the town(at least when I last visited in August 24)

Food and hospitality were amazing. We came in hungry after most other kitchens were closed at 9 pm. The samosas were hot and fresh. The naan some of the best I've tried, plus excellent butter chicken. A wonderful meal that we'll be thinking about until the next time we visit Rothenberg.

The selection of Indian food in the area is not particularly large, but here you eat in a cozy atmosphere. It wasn't really spicy like you would expect from Indian cuisine and we were surprised why the rice came to the table cold, so the food gets cold quickly. Service was friendly and food came to the table quickly. Addendum: I have to deduct a star because of an Indian restaurant I recently visited, the difference is too big compared to the last meal.

Great Indian restaurant....food was so good we ate there twice! Portions are quite big so first night we asked for our leftovers which we had for lunch the following day. A lovely change from German food. Friendly staff too. Would recommend highly.

The food is great but the service substandard, very delayed service despite being there first 12 noon when they opened and appealing that have to join the group, the guy didn’t react. Had to rush after food to catch the group in the bus with 1 minute spare before 1:30 PM. 80 minutes they took to serve simple food. Missed other areas we wanted to look.

Had the paneer, dal makhani and the lamb masala and all were excellent. The drinks were great and don’t leave without having the gulab jamun.

We are very picky about Indian food especially since some we’ve had some of the best Indian food both in and outside of India. This was on par. The food was extremely tasty, not super salty or greasy with just the right spices! We are so grateful to have found this gem in the middle of Rothenberg.

Pathetic service, irritating waiters and no etiquette to treat customers. They will behave as if you are being done a favour if they are taking your orders. Rude waiters, food taste below average I would not take a risk again!!! Why are they only forcing for cash seems like something is fishy ...

We go every week in restaurant taj mahal and always they serve best Indian food in town with best service friendly and calm. There are some fake people giving reviews in past few times ! Any way we will come again !

It was totally unexpected to find an Indian restaurant in this beautiful town in Rothenburg. The taste, options and ambience was really good. It's a recommended place if you are craving to eat something Indian. The staff were very friendly and prepared everything as requested.

We were spontaneously in Rothenburg and looked for vegetarian alternatives and ended up at Taj Mahal. The staff was very friendly. Since our son (1 year old) also wanted something to nibble on, we got cut cucumbers. And the food there was also very tasty. Always happy 😀

Unfortunately, the food was just mediocre. Sauce tasted a lot like tomatoes and wasn't very seasoned. The portion size was too small for the price. Service was great, but overall it didn't meet expectations

Worst experience with the staff. He had explanation for everything instead of yes or no. So many houseflies in the lobby and was irritating a lot. He was demanding cash even though he has debit/credit card machine and finally he accepted the card. He was explaining about his rent and expenditure, which was not peaceful to enjoy our time.
