The food is very tasty, with a wide selection on the menu, so there's something for everyone. The quantity is also very generous. The value for money is definitely good here.

We both had schnitzel. One with fresh chanterelles and the other with Balkan sauce. It came with a fresh side salad. The food was, as always, top-notch!

We stopped here after a trip to the heath. I have to say, I always enjoyed the food back then, but it's even better now. The menu is truly varied and offers something for everyone. The schnitzel with chanterelles and the char fillet were absolutely delicious—I definitely recommend them!

We stopped in as walk-ins, looking for a break after a long drive. Excellent service, extensive menu, truly exceptional food, no frills, German. You rarely find something like this these days. Locally sourced meat. Everything lovingly arranged: sauce in a gravy boat, side dishes also available separately. Dogs were also allowed inside. Highly recommended.

Hospitality for two- and four-legged friends is very important here. We discovered this wonderful inn with an excellent, familiar and friendly atmosphere by chance while passing through. Now we always like to stop by when we are passing through and really appreciate the warm, courteous and professional service. The food is delicious and full of seasonal delicacies (perfect asparagus!) - vegetarians are also welcome here. It is not surprising that the Meding inn is very popular and often fully booked. The cuisine is home-style in the best sense of the word, the dishes are varied and very, very tasty! As a guest you feel very welcome and are pleasantly pampered by the attentive people who work there.

Four of us were traveling from the coast to the south and were looking for a place for lunch. It may take 2 minutes longer to drive from the motorway than it takes to get to the truck stop, but in terms of cuisine there is a world of difference. We had Heidschnucken Sülze, Heidschnucken Keule and Heidschnucken Knipp, as well as straw pig medallions. Everything is of the best quality, large portions and delicious! The staff was extremely friendly and helpful, despite there being a large group in the next room and different groups of guests at the same time, shortly before closing time. And it happened quickly. Why should one accept the monotony of deep fryers on the highway when such wonderful food is offered in such a hospitable manner with such a small detour? Especially since it was hardly more expensive than in most truck stops. Gladly again at any time!

Last week we were at the Gasthaus Meding. We ate an excellent goose with four people, which was spontaneously prepared for us with a lot of love. We can only give five stars. We would give the chef the sixth star and the service was also worth six stars. We'll be back. Highly recommended.

We were hungry on the way home and didn't want to stop at a rest stop. So we googled nearby restaurants. This was suggested to us. We were thrilled, friendly and fast service. Delicious, regional food. We had a burger (super tasty bun) and schnitzel. If it were closer to where we live, we would come by regularly.

The best schnitzel we have ever eaten. So good that we came here two days in a row :) We can also definitely recommend the side salad and the pear Helene with home-cooked pears from the village.

Vi stannade i denna lilla by på väg från Österrike till Sverige och valde att inte äta på pensionatet. Vi valde istället restaurangen i byn drygt 500 m från övernattningen. Detta visade sig vara en bra restaurang med trevlig personal. Här serveras mycket tyskt. Vi valde Flammkuchen som var riktigt god och väldigt tunn. Vi tog också in grönsallad. Detta ställe rekommenderas om man är i krokarna.

All food is freshly prepared and very tasty. Even the croquettes seem to be homemade. Schnitzels are freshly breaded. Mashed potatoes were very tasty. Burger Paddy definitely freshly made from scratch. Homemade fish fingers from catfish. Lots of regional ingredients. A dream. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. Even the chef came to the table shortly after serving and asked if everything was okay. For us it was a break on the motorway that was very worth it. Ambience is a rustic clubhouse. A little pearl along the highway.

The meal was pork schnitzel with chanterelles in cream sauce and with fries for €23.50, although the cream sauce was unfortunately not a delicious cream sauce, rather a rather watery, thin sauce. Straw turkey would have been possible for + €2.50. There was a salad and overall I really liked it, especially the peace and quiet on the terrace...

Fantastic place, we had to find a place to eat for the evening, we called at short notice and informed that we were 8 people on our way, when we arrived there was a table set up for all of us, in addition to German, the host also spoke good English . We drove away full and found that we had one of the best schnitzels... Ever. The host introduced our children to "Sailor's Solitaire" it was very entertaining and his hosting was exceptional. The place holds a lot of history.

looking for a good lunch after a longer trip& choosing gasthaus Meding based on positive reviews and location. Inside in gasthaus about 10 guests, good atmosphere. When I am asking for lunch for two persons, I can still not believe that, but the answer from stuff was very short and clear: “sorry, we do not have place for you today.” Without any further explanation!!??Maybe they had good reason for that answer, bad day on job? anyhow it was very unprofessional and humiliating -I have never experienced something similar… really sad that I have to write on that way, but based on my own very unpleasant experience: if you are not local nor talking German, my best recommendation is to avoid this place, simply skip it and select some other good restaurant near to this one. I have already done it today…

We were passing through and just wanted to grab something to eat. The service was super friendly, the food was good. My wife even got a second helping of cheese with tomatoes without being asked because the cook (and also the landlord) said the portion was too small. 😀 I would especially like to mention the toilets. I travel a lot, but I've never seen such good AND clean toilets in a restaurant. That was 5 star plus!
